Review Magic Chilli - Ohakune

Had been welcomed and served by a nice guy who didn’t save any effort for making our time well spent and we all enjoyed our meals. I went with the family and when we liked the place we dined there two days in a row.

The food was delicious The portion size was small as compared to price they charge Overall experience was excellent

We went for a large shared dinner after a long day up on the ski field. It was a very wholesome home style Indian cooking which left us very happy. I would recommend getting a few dishes to share for the best experience! :)

Really delicious curries. We have had 5 different non-veg curries from here now all med/hot spice and loved every one of them. The only thing preventing a 5 star is the Naan is always a bit doughy as if undercooked or cooked from frozen. The guy at the front counter is very friendly, will return again :)

Definitely exceeded expectations with its authentic flavors and excellent service. After a day of skiing, it was the perfect choice. The diverse menu made for a delightful dining experience. Highly recommended for those seeking a memorable meal.

Delicious curry, best I’ve had in a long time. Nice authentic taste and good portion for price. Would defiantly return and recommend to friends

I had a lamb meathi malai takeaway - medium. It had a very nice flavour and spice to the curry, 5/5. However, some of the lamb pieces were of poor quality, very fatty and gristly. Perhaps the chicken is better. The prices were on the high side but nothing too outrageous. The service was good but I got takeaway.

The butter chicken, onion bhaji, vegetable pakora, garlic Naan and garlic roti we ordered were excellent. Perfect level of spice recommended by the staff. Highly recommend the Magic Chilli to anyone who is in Ohakune. Staff were terrific and very welcoming.

Delicious every time!! We’ve been going through the menu trying each different curry and they’re all as tasty as each other. Authentic flavours that bring back memories of India. 🇮🇳 This has to be one of the best Indian restaurants in the North Island. Great choice for food in Ohakune and highly recommended.

Ignore the reviews of this place that say it's mediocre. The curries were cooked from scratch and amazing. We'd done the Tongariro crossing that day and headed straight there. The food totally hit the spot. I make a lot of curry at home and am really fussy, and this place totally got my vote. Would definitely go back! 9½/10 (lost half a point because we couldn't eat in) .

Stopped by to eat in. You enter through the takeaway area first and then proceed into the restaurant. After getting seated got menus and water. Even though it was quite busy, it didn't take too long to get the attention of the waitress to order. I quite liked the mango lassi but I did find it quite thick. The onion bhaji were ok, I thought that it might've been a bit undercooked in the middle since it was a bit soggy. It did have a nice flavour. I had the chicken methi malai with rice and roti. The curry was nice and flavourful. I also liked the consistency of it so it went well with both the rice and the roti. The rice had to be ordered separately from the curry though. Really nice food and really good service.

An amazing experience at Magic Chilli Indian, impressed by the quality of food especially in a small town, great portion sizes and the curries are packed with ingredients. Friendly service and all. There can be long wait times but this is all worth it for the food, which is the best Indian I've had in a long time. Good options for vegan customers and customers with dietary requirements. It was so good that we ate here two nights in a row.

The lamb was excellent, tender and jucy. I asked for spicy hot but it was light on the chilli... Ask for Asian spicy if you want a kick.

Food was amazing. We had some biriyani and they were hot and spicy. Good quality food with good portions as well. Value for money.

Surprisingly, the best Indian food I’ve had in New Zealand. The taste is quite genuine
