Very friendly people, ordered 3 meals and they came out fast. Place is abit run down in some areas of the restaurant but the service made up for it and the food.

A nice cafe with great price. Service is amazing, really friendly and polite. Coffee taste good, environment is nice. Will definitely come back to try their food.

We were very surprised by this place. The meals and service was amazing. My sons hot chocolate looked delicious so I had to try it and low and behold it was. The blueberry pancakes were delicious and filling. The steak burger was good and the liver with bacon was filled with flavour. The service was very fast and welcoming. Their only downfall was that there was probably only one chopped up liver with my meal. apart from that we will be back
Florence Lai
Relatively cheap for what we ordered. Partner ordered eggs on toast and I got a quiche from the cabinets. Ordering food from cabinets can be quite risky imo as it might not be fresh but this one tasted pretty fresh. Food came at a reasonable pace considering it was busy at the time and service was good.
Maxine Balani
The staff were really friendly and serve awesome chai lattes or any hot beverage with small complimentary cookies 🤗 I would recommend to go here in the morning since not a lot of stores or cafes are open around 8 😅
Liz Scott
Oh my goodness I love this place! The atmosphere is bright, the staff are friendly and the food is simple but fresh! We come here quite often and always have a good time. We love the little touches around the room.

Had very nice meals here for brunch especially their bagels and breakfast options, haven't had a complaint over them, very yum. Featured is the Salmon bagel I believe with a poached egg....<br/><br/>Coffee however has room for improvement

Always used to get my coffee here before i left my job! Prices are pretty good compared to other cafes I've been too. Also they're fast to bring food out when i had breakfast there a few times. Friendly staff.. and i always see so many people in there.

This place is a hidden treasure. Really lovely selection, great coffee and specials. Staff are super friendly and feels like a community hub in Onehunga

Good Food Good price!<br/>This place was an expected surprise! the cafe doesn't look impresive from outside but it was clean and tidy inside, staff was good and the fact that was monday morning showed the lack of costumer but don't hesitate! we gave them a try :)<br/>We had the lunch special which was scotch fillet with fries, salad, and fryed eggs..it was a generous and well cooked (medium rare) scotch fillet could be a litle more thicker but i like the little fat left around, well seasoned enought for a decent lunch.<br/>if I'm around onehanga I will come back for sure :)

Cafe tran make a great coffees and good food. Staff are always super friendly, especially the Barista! Their smoothies are also really enjoyable on a bit day.

Not bad. Not bad at all!<br/><br/>Wasn’t particularly impressed with my buddies choice to eat because the exterior doesn't exactly fill you with a lot of confidence, however, due to the fact that I was dropping him off to the airport and being limited in the time we stopped in at Café Tran.<br/><br/>I was actually quite impressed with the interior, it was clean and had quite a few tables occupied, always a good sign in my opinion and I would soon understand why. Café Tran does two things remarkably well, they get their food out fast and hot, and their portions are more on the XL scale. In terms of the taste, I couldn’t really complain however nothing, in particular, to rave about. The price point here is friendly on the wallet for what you pay for so that’s a plus. My friend actually did say that he really enjoyed his pasta so I’ll say that the food isn’t too bad due to him being quite the picky eater. <br/><br/>A great café to stop by if you’re just hungry and want something that won't burn your wallet. I like what Café Tran is doing they aren’t trying to be those pretentious cafes that try to serve to people an avocado on a toast swirl a bit of sauce on the side and charge you 15$ for it, they are catering to folks who are after some homelier meals. <br/><br/>Forgot to mention the mushroom sauce was awesome!<br/><br/>Showstopper: Well portioned, great pricing and quick service.<br/><br/>Overall Grade: B+

Great place, great lighting, airy and peaceful. My husband and I ordered coffees which we both enjoyed and our daughter ordered blueberry pancakes from kids menu and a hot choc. Daughter enjoyed her meal and very generous serving. Will come back again and have something to eat.

Came here for breakfast. Creamy mushroom dish was absolutely delicious. Staff are friendly. The prices are decent. Good range of cabinet food.Place looks tidy and clean.

Ordered the mushroom eggs bennie with Bacon. Yep, CT is consistent, the venue still well kep, clean modern, warm n cozy even at 5.30am in the morning. Great la'te in a mug. Got me started for the work date. Regular flow of coffee addicts come thru in the morning. Nice venue to collect your thoughts and plan your day
Sinfully Delicious
Tried Cafe Tran for the first time today because it was in the entertainment book and it will be the last time too. Was bitterly disappointed with how we were treated because we had 2 discount vouchers between 4 people and we got ripped off. The service is abit off, we grabbed menus and seated ourselves as the staff didnt really acknowledge us. We ordered drinks and the staff brought them over and gave each one of us our drink then just left the tray on our table. What are we supposed to do with the tray????The food is not that great either and i should have guessed by the number of spelling mistakes. We ordered 3 different types of salads (lamb, chicken and calamari) and they were all the same base with a strange combination of fruit salad (pineapple, melon, grapes, apple) on leafy greens they topped with different meat choice. The aioli that they serve with chips is awful. We grabbed a couple of slices (choc fudge and macadamia caramel) takeaway for afternoon treat and the disappointment continues and so not worth the calories. The macadamia caramel slice tasted like it was tainted with ginger and the choc slice just tasted artificial. I would not recommend this place to anyone. There are better options in Onehunga.

We had lunch at Cafe Tran. I had Scotch fillet with eggs, fries & salad; my wife had baked kumara. Beef was fairly tough. Coffee was not hot but iced coffee was nicely prepared; orange cake was good too. (Food - 3/5; Ambience - 3/5)

Space is nice. Neat and tidy looking cafe.<br/>Personally I prefer the cabinet selection over their food menu.<br/><br/>The cabinet food is much more exciting than their food menu. The food menu is rather boring to my tastes. <br/><br/>Their fruit smoothies are a must! The feijoa one is a definite must if you love feijoa.

Cafe tran is my dad's favourite cafe so went today for Father's Day. They know him and what he wants and are really friendly to him which is really nice for your local cafe. In fact they are really friendly in general. Food is pretty good and very affordable. I had the toasted muesli with fruit which was yum! My brother/ dad got tradesman breakfast and blueberry pancakes which they both enjoyed. Coffee was good!! Better than I expected. Interior is quite dated and the food took a long time to come, but overall it is a nice affordable little spot in onehunga.

I visited this place on a Sunday afternoon. This place is complete value for money.I ordered a chicken burger and Fish n Chips. The fish was nice and crisp and soft from inside.Along with it was a salad and French fries. The burger was very tasty with a flavourful sauce.Overall had a very good experience.Would love to come again.

Stumbled across cafe tran when looking for a Sunday morning breakfast a couple of weeks ago, and thought might see whats in Onehunga.<br/>Ordered the big breakfast and was good size and quality,  decided to go back again today and had the salmon eggs benedict and bacon eggs benedict,  so far all has been good, service is good, place is clean and food is good so cant complain really. their poached eggs are real good to me. will go back again. Has a very nice clean toilet out the back which is nice to see they have done it up nice instead of a plain one tucked away as seen in some other places.
Duke_meko
Great coffee (soy mocha). Good food. We would highly recommend the warm lamb salad with holoumi. The big breakkie was ok, the creamy mushrooms tasted good but it was a bit too runny. Cafe was clean. The waitress was really nice. Cabinet food looked good with big portions, we had a white choc and raspberry friand that was tasty warmed up. Would return

Looking for a new place to try out and I came across cafe Tran on Zomato. <br/><br/>The interior looks like it needs an update good selection of food and they have vegetarian friendly meals. Cheerful staff and quite helpful. Good sized portions and priced well. I ordered the seared steak sandwich and could barely finish it. Good shoe string fries (one of my fav kinds) and tender aged scotch fillet served on ciabatta bread. An OK place to try out if you are walking down the Main Street of Onehunga.

One of places to go for good coffee! Food was good as well. I had chicken filo from the counter with salad that I really liked. It tasted like stir fried veg more than salad for me lol. However smoothies are not good. I had mix berries smoothies and it tasted too milky/too much yogurt somehow that I couldn't really taste berries.
Michelle Hwang
I am one of fans of this cafe. Love most of breakfast dishes and flat white here. My favorite one is the Chicken breast with side spring salad combo for only $9.00 And tuna sandwich also is very yummy for only $3.90
Reviewer
We went to this cafe on the basis of good reviews and the Entertainment Book voucher.  The food was excellent; a vegetarian breakfast, big breakfast, portobello mushroom and warm lamb salad.  All were well presented and delicious.  The staff were accommodating allowing me to change the milk to orange juice for the mixed berry smoothie which was divine.  None of us had room for anything sweet but the cabinet selection was varied and well priced; the pecan pie and macadamia slice looked particularly good. The only negative comment is that the cafe was very noisy with the tiled floor, brick walls and frequent use of coffee machine and blender.
Liaxo
Good food, reasonably priced, large servings and good customer service. I have enjoyed quite a few breakfasts here. Keep up the good work! I highly recommend this place if you have trouble deciding which cafe to choose from if your in Onehunga.

Tried this after driving past a few times and seeing it busy so figured it would be good.. Staff were friendly and food was beautifully presented and quick to come out but the eggs Benedict we ordered had a strange hollandaise sause if u could even call it that and the eggs where over cooked and hard.. Id probably give them another go as the food did look amazing just wouldnt order the eggs benedict again. My hot choc wasnt very chocolatey and hubby wasnt a fan of his coffe either unfortunately

Checked out this cafe this morning while driving past. Had the Cafe Tran Big Breakfast. Friendly service staff and free water provided. Meal was nice & fulfilling and came out in a timely manner. Real nice vibe to the place. Would recommend & return again in future. May have found my new local cafe spot!

Located in the popular area of Onehunga on the main strip, this cafe is pretty easy to find. We've been meaning to try this place for a while. The service was average as we didn't get menu's handed to us and we had to go up to place our orders (which seemed standard for them). Seating arrangements are sufficient enough, also with a few tables outside. The ambiance here is nice and modern. We were pleasantly surprised by the array of baked goodies - homely and very appealing. A great selection to cater for all.<br/><br/>We ordered the Trans Vege breakfast ($15.50) and the Pesto portobella mushroom ($12.90) which were served promptly. Nothing overly awesome about this place but the food was very affordable and well portioned!

Place is divine...good food, reasonable price with excellent service. Highly recommend for breakfast and lunch...coffee with em free round biscuit is awesome. Great coffee I should say. Definately visiting again

Walked into this bustling café and instantly greeted warmly by the staff. It's a lovely café with a wide range of sweets and savoury dishes. I ordered the spinach and feta quiche for $4.90 and it had a generous helping of feta! The service here is top notch and super friendly so I see why they are so busy. Keep it up guys!

Great food with great customer service. <br/>warm lamb salad - great way to go carb-free. Salad is fresh with a good serving of sliced lamb. <br/>Big breakfast makes the ultimate brunch! Lots of exciting things on the plate- 2 different types of sausages, bacon, creamy mushroom sauce, 2 eggs <br/><br/>On another occasion we came back for lunch and had the steak burger and fettuccini cabonara. The steak was tender and soft. The fettuccini came with a delicious creamy sauce with lots of bacon and mushroom

CT is another one of these almost generic looking cafe's w. white walls, matching seating and the same kind of menu and there's absolutely nothing wrong w. that. The food selection's really good, coffee is good and staff friendly. I don't go to CT often @ all, but it's popular and clean and I can definitely see and taste why.
Pauline Bennett
Great staff, great food and absolutely wonderful coffee. My daughter had the warm lamb salad which she was really impresssed with - lovely tender and juicy slices of lamb and amongst the salad leaves were small pieces of fresh fruit which was unusual but seemed to go well with the dish. My eggs benedict was perfect . A good selection of other items on the menu, and also in the cabinet.
Donna&Shane
The service is always friendly and good ... Cabinet food is nice and the breakfast and lunch menu is pretty good... They present the food well...

Very impressed!! Came here with a 'Entertainment' voucher and will come back.. we were welcomed with a smile and hello. We ordered a big breakfast each + a hot chocolate/mango smoothie. Big breakfast was well worth it - yummy + came out quickly! The cabinet items looked amazing too! The hot chocolate was good and smoothie was average (needed more mango flavour). I will for sure come back to this new local. :)

Decided to try this cafe again after a good year or so, popped in for a quick lunch today and was pleasantly surprised - had the Thai beef noodles with a broccoli/green bean side from the cabinet which was very tasty and the best flat white I've  had in ages (777 espresso blend?), nice and hot (not just warm!).<br/>Great front of house staff member, she greeted myself and others warmly (I think she made the coffee too..) - I have to reiterate this type of service when you receive it REALLY stands out and is another reason I'll frequent this place more often now.

Great cafe out in Onehunga by the Dress Smart Mall. This is a great place to fuel up before shopping at the mall. <br/><br/>The place is easy to find as its on the main street and there is plenty of parking in the area.<br/><br/>I have been here several times and I have never been disappointed. <br/><br/> The Food:<br/><br/>The food here is good, they do an all day breakfast and lunch menu. The breakfast tastes good, easy to eat and always cooked right. The portion size is relatively big so you would not be disappointed. There is a big range of food so you will be spoilt for choice. The french toast here are pretty good.  If you don't want something off the menu they have freshly made sandwiches and baked pastries at the counter. <br/><br/>The Service:<br/><br/>The service here is not bad, you walk in and staff are quick to greet you. They also attend to you in good time to take your order, you don't have to wait 30min before someone comes to take your order. The food comes out quick as well, we ordered 6 different dishes (a mix of breaky and lunch) and they were all out within 5-10min. Keep in mind the cafe was full. <br/><br/>The Setting: <br/>The place is medium sized and can accommodate about 20-30 people. There are tables outside but to be honest I don't think you would fancy to sit outside as its on the main road. (unless the sunshine tempts you). Its not a flash cafe but you feel comfortable inside and its welcoming. <br/><br/>The bathroom could do with a renovation to make it a little more inviting. In all fairness the building is a little old so the hence the bathroom looks old too. Overall good place and I would recommend trying it once if your out in Onehunga. This place either works for you or it doesn't.

Great food and pricing and the service is great too. We had the Panini's and they were very tasty and fresh. Will come again. The menu pricing is good and hope to be here again

Love this place! Everything on the menu is a winner. Coffee is fantastic, and always comes with a complimentary little chocolate chip biscuit. Staff are always attentive. Don't be fooled by the humble surroundings. Would highly recommend.

This cafe makes the best damn eggs bene's ever. Very consistant also as I have had it here many times. That hollandaise is to die for! At a very reasonable price as well. My partner had the big breakfast and enjoyed it very much. Decent size and tasted yummy. Nice and clean environment, lovely service. And I love how they put melon and apples in their water. If you are ever in Onehunga, do go to Cafe Tran! You won't be disappointed. I love you Cafe Tran!
Nuwan Samarasekera
I went there with my partner late morning on a Saturday, the place seemed busy compared to other cafes we walked past which is a sign of good place, this was not the case here!<br/> <br/>We had 50 minutes up our sleeves as we had an prior engagement we couldn’t miss. <br/>We ordered and paid for coffee and as the coffee order came we ordered our two breakfasts. The cafe was slowly becoming empty as the breakfast crowd were leaving which led me to think our order would be fast due to less people.<br/> <br/>After 20 minutes of waiting the waitress brings out my partner’s order placed it on the table and straight away took it away &  nothing was said, which I thought was strange but continued to wait.<br/> <br/>So I waited another 5-10 minutes went to the counter and asked “how far away is my order” the Asian waitress (possibly the manager) said nothing to me but disappeared into the kitchen, a different waitress came out and said to us your breakfast will be another 10 minutes away!<br/> <br/>At that point we were very annoyed and fast running out of time so we left..
NYNB
Amazing presentation with the dishes - we had a board special and eggs benedict. Tasted amazing and loved every bite. Would prefer if they gave us the long black we ordered instead of the short black we recieved. <br/><br/>I would recommend to stay away from anything involving their portobello mushrooms though as I ended up throwing up my lovely breakast 2 hours later :(<br/><br/>Will definitely come back again and try other things off their menu though - I've heard their red velvet cake is amazing
Robyn Bint
The best lunch we have had anywhere for years! Lovely fresh food, beautifully presented and so so nice. We have a new favourite place! Real leaf tea, and gorgeous coffeee. Cabinet tems looked yummy too - will definitely try them next time!
Kelly
Very friendly &amp; welcoming staff. My friend and I went for breakfast during the week. We both had Bacon and Eggs - both perfectly cooked &amp; delicious. Effort had also been taken with the presentation of the food. The coffee was also very good - with an awesome picture on top. There was also a range of food options in a cabinet - salads, slices etc. which looked good too. Great cafe!

This place is awesome!!!! My partner and I are a regular and we love the food their coffee is sublime their soy chai is excellent. The staff are friendly always welcoming. Accommodating to dietary needs as well. It's a definite Hot Spot in Onehunga they'd be one of the best cafes in Auckland keep it up guys.

Went for brunch - place was packed so decided to grab a coffee to go. Hazelnut flavoured Latte was superb and the complimentary cookie sublime. In the short time I was there the service was great and the sweets cabinet was almost too much to resist. Will definitely be back.

We tried this cafe for the first time recently and the food is delicious. There were so many appealing choices we knew we would be visiting regularly just to try them out. We were delighted with the friendly obliging service and the barista puts a smile on my wife's face with his creativity. We happily travel out of our area and past several other cafes to get to Cafe Tran.
Rebecca Keesing
Great coffee and fabulous, friendly, attentive service. I frequent a few of the local cafes in Onehunga and without doubt the service at Cafe Tran is consistently the best. Nice little touches such as the little biccie on the saucer &amp; bringing me a glass of water when they saw my coffee had finished. It was totally what I needed-(mindreaders!)
Louise
Best coffee in Auckland served with panache, big smiles and a homemade biscuit. Delish! Great menu and everything very fresh. There are lots of cafes in Onehunga and Tran is the best of a great choice.
Leila Boyle
My friend Simon raved about you guys when we were talking about where to meet up in Onehunga in early-2011 and he wasn't wrong!<br/><br/>What's great about Cafe Tran?<br/><br/>- always excellent, fast and friendly service<br/><br/>- beautifully strong and piping hot hot chocolates with the cutest decorations on top (I'm not a coffee drinker)<br/><br/>- fresh and delicious healthy food choices along with yummy naughty treats<br/><br/>==&gt; My only choice for cafe eating whenever I'm in Onehunga, nom, nom, nom...
Ailsa
Service is outstanding, coffee superior, presentation of food is excellent.<br/><br/>I only ever visit this cafe alone because I want to savour my always delicious, eggs benedict with salmon alone, without interruption, eye contact or distraction. This cafe has ruined any chance of my ever getting to eat this meal elsewhere and by golly have found myself late on a couple of occasions cos when I need some fresh cuisine with all of the embellishments I come to Cafe Tran, women and children behind me. The picturesque coffee has a good solid depth with fluffy topping and just the right amount of chocolate with a side serve of buttery biscuit.<br/><br/>I meet my friends in Ponsonby cafes but Cafe Tran is mine, all mine!!!! Well done to the staff and chefs. I've already forgotten what colour the chairs/tables/walls are but will always remember the service and flavours so well done you bunch.
Freya Wolfe
I have a long history in hospitality and as far as suburban cafes go Cafe Tran is the spot to hit for a superb coffee fix and bite to eat. The food is well presented, tasty and reasonably priced. The staff are super friendly and go out of their way to make sure that what you have ordered gets to you in a timely fashion and to your liking. Ben, their barista, is a sweet fellow who relishes in pouring the perfect cup. He will amuse you with pictures atop your coffee. Duc is a grand master of the cafe, who with his suave manner runs a smooth ship. All staff know their regulars well and treat new customers as if they have always been going there.<br/>If you haven't been to Cafe Tran, then you haven't lived!!
Clint Marion
WOW you rock!! Coffee absolutely definitely the best in town!! Hospitality unremarkable! So friendly, especially first thing in the morning!! When in Onehunga this is the cafe to visit.... if you haven't had coffee from Tran Cafe you haven't had Coffee!! <br/>Cheers Maz
Darran Ronerts
From the food displayed on the counter to the meals that are made to order, everything tantalises your taste buds... The place sparkles and the staff serve you with passion, pride and a smile. If the food doesn't entice you in, the coffee will. Best coffee I have ever had and can't seem to get enough of. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed, I promise!
Grant Malkin
Am a regular there, there service is top notch, the food is all made there and DELICIOUS, it is one of the few places that has an atmosphere.. <br/>Would recommend it to anyone that is looking for somewhere to grab a bite and a coffee..
Annie Siegrist
Fantastic breakfasts, excellent service, clean and friendly. They always make really consistent coffee and there are lots of yummy options available.
Billy Beggs
Cafe Tran gets my points because it gets the point..."provide good food along with good service and excellent coffee consistently" Its simple really just takes more work and attention than most cafes are prepared to give.
Nom Nom Panda
Perfectly acceptable cafe for the time warp zone of Onehunga. There was even a nod to the present with a couple of gluten free options and colour pictures in the menus.<br/><br/>Our breakfast dishes came with two types of bread, Anchor butter and tomato relish. The mushrooms were left off the vegie breakfast, but arrived promptly when we asked about it. The yolks of the perfectly round fried eggs were bright orange and still runny.<br/><br/>We also enjoyed our mochaccino which had a flower drawn on top of plenty of foam, and was served with a shortbread bite.
