Review Luscious Cafe - Onehunga

Kevin
One of the cafes that we frequently go. Chorizo stack is my favorite. It was a bit disappointed with the pie. It must have been microwaved. Pastry was all soft and flat.
A K
It's a little Cafe with drinks both hot and cold with Cafe food, both savory and sweet. The hazelnut latte was really tasty. The green salad looks so fresh.

If you’re a coffee and pastry lover then you’ve got to check out this spot! Their baked goods are made fresh everyday, just below the store, and are quite simply mouth-watering. The place has an inviting atmosphere and really friendly staff. Once you’ve been to Lucious it’ll be hard to justify going anywhere else. Enjoy! Hamish Dorrington Kakapo Business Sales

This is a small cafe on busy road in onehunga. The ambience is just ok with good variety muffins breads etc. Tables were rough not presentable

Customer service, serving size and quality of food was perfect. Breakfast on a Saturday morning arrived in less than 10 minutes of ordering! Highly recommended, a really good experience overall and would come back. To be picky, the place is in need of a minor renovation as the building is a bit old, but that didn’t impact the overall experience much. Used entertainment voucher!

All time fav Cafe. Consistently yummylicious Eggs Benedict w the perfect eggs always and such a generous serve of fresh salmon. I wont eat eggs Benedict anywhere else. And the chunky chips are delicious. Love and highly recommend to all.

Superb cafe with lots of options for parties and breakfast options. Lovely coffee. Very nice and friendly staff. Suggestion very exactly what was required or requested.

We visited here after shopping in dressmart. So pleased we did. My soft creamy egg quiche was delicious, hubby loved his bacon and egg pie and the vege greens we shared were fresh and perfectly steamed. Coffee was really good. But most of all was the pleasant service. It’s so good to be back out again and I think so important to support great cafe owners like these. Thank you

Been there a couple of times now, went there last Saturday morning for Breakfast and I must say it was delicious we both had the bacon Potato hash very good, complimented with a great tasting coffee. Very friendly staff and service at good prices, right in the heart of Onehunga. Worth making the trip from the CBD.

Fantastic breakfast called ‘the feast’ They weren’t lying, I couldn’t finish it. Perfectly cooked and extreme value for money. Also have the best tp I have ever used in a cafe!

I rocked up to Luscious Cafe at 7:30 am on a Friday looking for coffee. Even at that early hour, I had to wait while people ahead of me were served. It was then that I spotted their Breakfast Feast listed on the blackboard menu. At $28 some would say overpriced but I can guarantee you, this “feast” is worth every cent! Fortunately, I was able to take my time consuming this amazing meal and got to relish every tasty morsel. By the time I’d finished, I was too full for coffee and lurched quite contentedly on my way! Thank you Luscious Cafe - 10/10!

Great little cafe. Good coffee, generous meals, friendly staff, nice play area for the kids up stairs. No Wi-Fi.

Great place for a brunch! I ordered their signature dish hash stack. The hash browns were crispy and the maple bacons had good mix of savoury and sweet flavour. I haven’t tried the other food on their menu but I would comeback again. 2 Stars for the food, 1 Star for the ambience, 1 Star for their service, and 1 more for the originality. 5 Stars

Nice little cafe! Upstairs a room for the kids to play while you dine. Decor is dated but place is nice and clean. Good food!

A hidden jewel. What a find! Divine cakes, pies, pastries, and a wonderful breakfast menu. Coffee was great, too.

Random cafe walk in, really enjoyed the food. Homemade potato hash was delicious, tasted like kfc mashies. Would eat there again :)
Cheryl Lewis
Had the bacon hash. It was so good. Also recommend the carrot cake and cherry pie. Would definitely visit again.

This place is a must. The breakfasts are superb! The Feast is a winner for the hungry man in your life & and the bacon hash stack hit the spot! the counter food looks amazing too. Gotta go back!
Cliff Brown
I had the bacon/hash brown/mushroom/poached egg breakfast very early on a Sunday morning and it was spectacularly good. Had to poke my head into the kitchen to tell the chefs directly.

Have been here a few times and it just keeps getting better and better. This time I ordered the kids a platter and was absolutely perfect , triangle ham sambos, fresh fruit and tiny squares of cake with a fluffy. Such a gem to Onehunga

Luscious is honestly the most luscious café I've been to in a long long time. Everything from menu choice to service and everything in between is great. Great chicken & cranberry quiche & oriental prawn omelet. Can't wait to return.

Another great find from the Entertainment Book. Cracking little cafe. Beautiful breakfast, fresh and very tasty. Lovely coffee too. Quick service and wicked friendly staff. A great find overall. Oh and thanks for the recommendation for the Hot Samoan Boys Chilli Sauce, it went great with the bagel!!
Michelle Viengkone
Well curated decor, wonderful selection of salads and meal options, and outstanding staff and service.
Denise Montgomery
Such a fantastic array of healthy as well as slightly decadent foods ... (I.e. Salads v huge sausage rolls or cakes) So much choice! Superb coffee and impeccable and speedy service. Can't fault it. Kids' room upstairs is also a great idea.
Louise Gardner
The food is always amazing and the staff are really helpful and friendly, the cafe has so much character, I really enjoy eating here
Susan Otira Prescott Taufa
Food was really good. We had salads and it was amazing. However they need to work out a system with their service as it's a busy cafe.
Nane Fuapau
Amazing food my favourite dish is the DELICIOUS BLAT Great customer service from all the girls. Highly Recommended.
Terry Williams
Never had a bad experience always great food recommend to any one

The best cafe in Auckland...the most friendly people.
Helen Talagi
This is my fav fav go to cafe for vanilla latte coffee! Staff is very friendly and service is top notch, thank you for making my coffee experience a bliss :D
Martine Pitts
Luscious is now my favourite Cafe. The staff acknowledge you as soon as you walk in, the Cafe is extremely clean and cosy and their Coffee and food lovely, discovered their divine Mango Lassi too so will definitely be frequenting and recommending this Cafe!
Zara Dobson
Delicious breakfast for hubby and I, will be back for sure!
Soleil Hefferen
We are regular customers to luscious. I love the BLAT and my husband orders the smoked salmon bagel the portion sizes are generous. And their chips are delicious. The kids love the bacon and egg on toast. It’s also great to be able to drop them into the playroom while the adults can have a chat whilst keeping an eye on them.

Been here multiple times never a bad experience good service good food and a small wait time on food will be back again
Felicia
Love this cafe in Onehunga! We had the big breakfast, prawns linguine (amazing!!) and 2 x kids set meals plus coffees. The food was delicious, and the kids area is fantastic as it means the little people can be entertained while waiting for drinks and food to arrive. Service was good too! Highly recommended place! :)

Very nice but dont sell All Press coffee, nice relaxing atmosphere. Called in here on a raining day with my friend Henry after a soak @ Parakai Hot Pools.

I haven't been to Luscious in years as I had a bad experience there they might have new owners since then. However my in laws are here on holiday, my father in law is very hard of hearing so we chose to sit upstairs which made was great. The chunky fries yummy. Coffee awesome and my meal delish.
Nicki Jensen
We had our team building lunch here today and had a quiet room to ourselves which was perfect.  From the street you wouldn't believe how quaint and homely this cute cafe is.   The food was awesome too.  The potato hash was delicious.  Definitely will recommend this cafe to others.
Khaleesi
Best chunky fries I've had where the chips are actually chunky and crisp, served with aioli and ketchup. Food looked very pleasing to the eye but husband thought the big breakfast was bland and flavorless. I loved the hash stack, it was creamy, sweet and delicious! Coffee was good but not as hot as I'd like. Poor service though as I had to waive staff member a few times to clear table from previous diners. Interesting place with various dining area, they even have an upstairs with a kids play area.
LuNa The TuNa
Food was ok. Environment was clean. Kids playroom was pretty nice. But service today was poor! i used entertainment book buy one get one free today, but they give me kids meal free and they don't even care the mistake when i pointed that out!shame!
Tony Ma
update* got a call from owner explaining the mistake was made by her staff that was there on her last day working at the cafe so she probably didn’t care as much.. however owner did not offer to rectify the problem :(<br/><br/>I have been coming for many years. The staff usually are friendly and have kids play room upstairs. <br/><br/>Today I decided to use my entertainment book. Buy one get one free, however they made a mistake and only gave me a free kids meal. I asked them to correct the problem however they said “it’s already been put through” and had no intention to help me. I didn’t make a scene as there were customers behind me. so I decided to write a review instead. <br/><br/>Service: 0/5 today<br/>Presentation: 3/5<br/>Food Quality: 4/5<br/>Food Quantity: 4/5<br/>Environment: 3.5/5<br/>Price per person: $15-$25

Great coffee. Food was great too!<br/>Fast and efficient service. It looks so tiny but there's plenty of room if you head upstairs.<br/>My eggs bene was nice but the bacon hash was the winner.
Roxathina Samupo
We go here for brunch quite often and I always love the food we receive. I always know what to expect from Luscious Cafe, good food that’s always worth it. I especially love their French toast and syrup, Eggs Benedict- Salmon and 3 egg omelette. We will keep going here because it’s one of my favourite places for breakfast meals.
Faye Stubbs
I haven't been to this cafe for a while but was back in the neighbourhood this week. Still great coffee and great food. So good I've been twice this week for breakfast. Generous portions and tasty food. Can recommend the creamy mushrooms and The eggs bene with hash. The counter food looks as good as the menu food. I can't wait to go back again.
Brizzle
Great friendly service and great coffee.<br/>Quaint little coffee shop on the Onehunga Mall.<br/>Just had a cappuccino coffee here, will go back for a meal.
Liz Scott
Every time I come here I smile. The staff are friendly and helpful and don’t mind waiting while you gaze over their extensive menu. We love the potato hash cakes that they do.. Although I always ask for it without mushrooms (I’m picky)! Their French toast was very nice too. If you’re a fan of salads, I highly recommend the potato salad. There’s also a big range of sweets, including some options for those that prefer gluten free. The coffee is strong but gives you a good kick.
BradDejager EsaPalale
My kid never eats at a restaurant but this was cafe and she ate all her pasta and even asked for more. Extremely pleased with the amazing food. It was extremely packed but and quite small walk way coming through but there was plenty of space and room outback and upstairs and even had a kids play area!! Which was a bonus for parents! Service was abit slow but I understand it is very busy and popular! Definitely recommend!
Sunaina Goundar
From the outside this looks like a standard cafe which you wouldn’t really expect much from, standard furniture, no fancy wallpapers or lighting. The food, however is amazing!! Been here twice and left with a happy heart and happy tummy. They also do half portion eggs Benedict which is great for people like me with a small appetite. Staff are very warm and friendly and service is great. Place was super busy when we went, however our food came out pretty fast.
Aleisha T
Huge amount of table space out the back which was unexpected. Good place to go in a big group. The decor has old school charm. Service was very quick. Food looked and tasted lovely. Definitely go for the hash with the eggs bene.
Hannah Kraakman
Went here for brunch and got the Riccotta breakfast. Was actually very tasty but a little bit to much going on for my liking and didn’t quite like the flavours mixing. Would definitely go back and try something different. Lots of reasonably healthy, yummy looking options on the menu as well as cabinet food if you are in a rush!
Mrs Fihaki
I actually really like this place! Those huge crunchy fries are a definite winner in my book. Their chocolate/banana muffins are amazing, ESP when they’re just fresh outta the oven 🤗<br/>Great coffee ☕️
Beccs
Great cafe in Ellerslie with a beautiful ambience and great selection of cabinet food! We were just in for coffee today 4/5 but will be back to try out the food!

A hidden gem! This place is so good. It is very small so it is very easy for it to go unnoticed especially since the street is so busy. I wouldn't have thought to ever go here if it weren't for my boss mentioning in a passing comment that the place was really good.<br/><br/>I checked the menu in advance and struggled to pick something. I went in and ordered the toasted chicken club but they advised me there was no avocado, and offered to add another filling instead. I love avocado and this is why I wanted the club so I picked something else. I ended up getting the eggs on toast with bacon and a side of grilled tomato. It was incredible! The best bacon and eggs I've had in such a long time. I am so impressed. The portion was perfect as well. You must try this place if you are in Onehunga. I would rate this over the Onehunga Cafe which everyone seems to go to. The service was very friendly as well, and I dealt with about 3 girls while I was in there.<br/><br/>Thanks heaps! Keep up the good work
Sarah Mah
Delicious food! Great kids play area that is upstairs where there is extra seating. Excellent service too, despite being a busy sunday lunch time. I can see why this cafe is so popular.
East Auckland Eater
This is our favourite cafe. Food is always delicious, we love the big breakfast. Everything on the plate is tasty and perfectly cooked. Coffee is good. Child friendly with a children playground upstairs. Highly recommended
Kai Mai
Food was average at best. A bit overpriced in my opinion. Service was ok, but it did take awhile for food to come out. There are a few other cafes I would prefer over luscious.
Ms. Piggy Loves Food
Too overly noisy for me to want to dine in. Always busy during the early morning rush (845am-930am) Good coffee. I love their date scones, the protein balls and their spicy chickpea salad mix.
Travelling Lovebirds
Great lunch spot with lovely coffee and a nice menu range.<br/><br/>Highlights here are definitely the mince on toast and French toast.<br/><br/>If you see the steak on the special boards, definitely order that! It's a tender steak with creamy mushroom. Sadly it hasn't been available for awhile... Please bring this dish back!<br/><br/>Only downside is food can take awhile so if you have a short lunch break, you may want to order ahead. 😁
Neeve Telfer
Very nice little spot that gets packed fast. Friendly staff who were more than happy to help. Food is very tasty not bland at all. Little bit on the pricey side but worth it. I ordered the "Big Feast" which is like a Kiwi big breakfast and it did not disappoint. Only critique would be that some of the elements such as the baked beans were cold and the rest of the plate was warm-hot.
Squiddy
Very cute cafe with friendly staff. There was no parking to be found on Onehunga Mall at 1030am on a Saturday morning, but lots of free parking in a shoppers' carpark behind the church, with a handy walkway through to the Mall.<br/><br/>The cabinet food looked amazing but I felt like something from the menu. They have menus and you order at the counter.<br/><br/>There are lots of brunch favourites with some little twists like the brioche and ricotta on the savoury Ricotta Breakfast, and the polenta on the Vege Platter. I was eyeing up the Oriental Prawn Omelette and the Mediterranean Platter but my heart and tummy yearned for potato so the Bacon Hash was the one for me.<br/><br/>The dish was generous, with three excellent home-made hash cakes. They were deep fried, so lovely and crispy on the outside. I would come back just for that potato hash. The poached egg, creamy mushroom and hollandaise sauce were all perfectly cooked. I thought a rich hollandaise with creamy mushrooms might be too much, but they were delicious. It was a large dish and very indulgent, so a great treat for brunch. The one hugely jarring item for me was the maple bacon. It was far, far too sweet. I know I don't tend to like sweet flavours in my savoury food, but I can appreciate them when they're balanced. However, this was not balanced, but sweet to the point of being unpleasant. Imagine eating egg, mushroom and potato with lashings of maple syrup! Maple bacon is meant to be an amalgamation of meaty, salty and sweet but I couldn't taste any bacon flavour at all. There was also a drizzle of balsamic reduction around the plate which added to the sweetness (it was hard to avoid). I'd still happily order the dish again, but I'd ask for just plain bacon and no balsamic reduction.<br/><br/>My friend was taking me out for brunch for my birthday, so I didn't say anything. It's my personal taste so I wouldn't have expected a discount or anything, but I would normally have given some feedback in case others had mentioned it as well.<br/><br/>The prices are really reasonable, especially with the Entertainment Book. I'd like to come back and try other stuff on the menu. Bum, I forgot to take photos again.

Very disappointed there is no WIFI. All cafes I have<br/>been to have WIFI. If u want better ratings then WIFI is a must!!! please ensure there is WIFI.

44 minutes of waiting and our meal was nowhere in sight. If I didn’t go down to the counter to get an idea of what was going on, I probably would’ve continued to wait for nothing. <br/><br/>I love supporting local cafés and especially ones that are located in the suburbs. I only came by this café when scrolling through Zomato and liked the reviews that other diners had written. Coming in, I was excited to dine in especially since all the baking in the cabinet looked absolutely scrumptious. It was a weekend, and the place was totally packed from the first floor to the second. After I made my order and started looking for a table amongst the packed café, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel slightly ominous. Minutes passed and we watched all the other tables get their meals, including those that arrived after us. It was an incredibly frustrating experience. As stated before, we never got our main meals. We did, however, received our cabinet selection which was an apple and rhubarb pie. <br/><br/>The pastry was well cooked and I liked how the bottom of the pastry wasn’t soggy. The apple and rhubarb worked well together, providing sweetness and flavor. Unfortunately, that’s where all the positives stopped. To be fair to the owners/management, they didn’t deny the problem and certainly apologised with sincerity. I did expect more in terms of a response, maybe in the form of free food or something to make up for my lost time but they just refunded me my money ( I had to pay for my bake though which I honestly think they should have waived ).<br/><br/>Not the best ways to attract me back nor to change my mind about the business. I certainly will not be back again.<br/><br/>Showstopper: Poor service, if you’re into that kind of thing.<br/><br/>Overall Grade: F

had a very good brunch last Sunday, the bacon hash made me full  :) the coffee was also beautiful. I will definitely come back and tell  my friends to do their meet ups in this café.Credits to all kitchen staff :)
Sandy Hsiao
Have been here a few times and it’s consistently great. Always leave feeling super satisfied! The service is friendly and the food comes in big portions, well presented, well priced and very tasty! Definitely recommend this place for a great brunch.
Laura Cundy
We had the big breakfast and 1/2 portion eggs bene on a hash cake. The food was fantastic and if I had room I would have loved to try the cabinet food as it all look so good. It would have been great to have water for the table and a smaller coffee cup option (6oz) for those who like it stronger. Can’t wait to come back and try other options off the menu.
L K
If you love pie then you will love this cute cafe. They have the best boysenberry pie/tart. When I'm in need of a hot dessert fix I rush out here. Located in the main road between Tanoa and Tav Pacific.
Sam Pervan
We ordered the B.L.A.T was very nice and cooked well, but the price was a bit high for the amount of food we were given, service was good and food came out fast
Louise Wong
Stopped off for breakfast and left feeling very satisfied. I ordered the half size veggie platter which was ample for one. Everything about it was beautifully cooked and presented. The fried polenta was crisp and sweet and the homemade baked beans were rich and filling. Husband ordered the mince on toast which he said was very nice.
Sylvester Kuo
The food here is absolutely amazing. You have so many options to choose from, I decided to be daring and tried the vegetarian option. I was pleasantly surprised by the portion and quality of the food. The only downside was the strange layout of the place, but it wasn’t much a big deal if you prefer a more homey setting
Kat Walker
Beautiful food, service and environment. Everything was fresh and clean, food well cooked and delicious. Would recommend to anyone. <br/>There's space upstairs as well if it seems busy.<br/>Vegetarian options were great <br/> Potato hash with eggs benedict was a great choice - hash is well cooked through and crispy outside. Ricotta breakfast was great - not a huge fan of brioche or sweet breads but this was still very tasty.
Lipe Kaloni Latu
Service was prompt, staff is attentive. Kids play area affordable prices. The kids bacon sandwich could've been a little better. Slice of bread butter and bacon not very appealing for kids platter
Priyanka Champanerkar Nayak
The best chips I have ever had. The chicken club sandwich was delicious! Slightly expensive to other cafes in the neighbourhood. Will definitely go again.
Sindy Xian
This is a hidden gem. I felt in love with this place instantly. The medditarian style catering is great, so rich in flavour and looks amazing. Make sure you leave some space for dessert. Outside sitting is limited, however upstairs seem fun with play area.
Duke_meko
Had a great brunch here. Ordered the big brekkie and a special of smoked tarakihi eggs benedict meal. The big breakfast was massive and the creamy mushrooms were the best that Ive had! The eggs benedict was nice but couldn't really taste the smoked fish. It was jam packed when we went and was lucky to get a table upstairs. Coffee was good. Service was good. Highly recommend the big breakfast. Will be back! ***** Visited again Nov 2017. Still amazing food with great portions! Bacon hash is highly recommended but would have prefered a 2nd egg instead of a 3rd hash. And sad to see big brekkie no longer has creamy mushrooms as it is amazing still! Increased rating to 4.5

One of the best café’s in Onehunga! After visiting for brunch in the weekend, we found this café to be a lot bigger than it looks. From the street it looks small with only a few tables, but with seating out back and also upstairs (including a meeting room), there is plenty of space. The cabinet food is very appealing with some great sweet and salad options for those on the go, their salads looked fresh and delicious.<br/><br/>We ordered a large flat white, Vege stack and The Feast. The coffee is good - hot, creamy and strong as it should be. If you have an appetite, I’d recommend the feast. Like most big breakfasts it has a bit of everything including eggs (made to your liking), sausages, hashbrowns, tomato, avo, ciabatta and creamy mushrooms. A very generous portion with everything you need to get you started for the day. The Vege stack was a smaller portion but still plenty for one. The fritters were really good and we liked the sautéed potatoes and creamy mushrooms. <br/><br/>The service was above average, the young staff members are relaxes, friendly and easy going. Although they were quite busy, wait times were minimal for our meals to arrive. Looking forward to trying out more dishes here and also at their sister café - Little Luscious.
Kyoko Aoki
Great café in Onehunga. Had a lunch with my partner. Menu is very unique. we ordered bacon Hash ( homemade hash) and the feast. Both breakfast were delicious and great value. cabinet salad options looks good. Have to come back here and try sometimes.
JJ Jenkins
One of my favourite cafes in Auckland. They do great coffee here, esp. this one girl but I dont know her name sorry. I usually get their french toast  - the best french toast I have had! This place has a good range of salads and pies/quiches available for takeaway. They also have a good range of sweet treats - cakes, scones, cheesecake, slices e.t.c. I also usually get a slice of caramel crumb slice and a coffee to go. A great place to go for some good food and coffee and reasonable prices.
Sylvia Chin
Friendly staff and the food there was delicious. I ordered a bacon hash and it was totally worth every penny. The white latte was delicious and creamy as well.
Rowan Rebecca
We both really enjoyed this place. The coffee and chai were really good and our food was amazing. The staff were friendly and food came out in a good time. We'll be back.
Daniel Kinnoch
This place does a great coffee, and a killer breakfast! We enjoyed 'The Feast' and 'Creamy Mushrooms'. I typically hate mushrooms, but these were delicious. The Feast is definitely enough to share between two people, with at least two of everything - making it great value at $19.90. They ask you how you'd like your eggs - this is great customer service. The staff are very friendly; this is the second time we have been here (they are 2 for 1 in the Entertainment Book so will go at least once per year) and we had the chance to meet one of the co-owners; he was helping out to clean some of the tables! Love how unpretentious and relaxed they all are. Can't wait to come back in 2017!
Joanne Chiang
Yum yum! This place is going to be one of my fav! Plenty of seats upstairs and loads of fridge selection. I got the mince on toast and bf got the chorizo stack. Both was filling and yummy. Good for price too! We will definitely come back. Beats other places who are way more expensive and small portion. The only random part was that we got asked to move tables midway the meal.
I_like_pickles
Love their variety of salads in the cabinet. They have so many kinds of salads at very affordable prices. The salads are tasty and full of different ingredients.<br/><br/>The slices in the cabinet are also great options with a coffee or hot chocolate.<br/><br/>I highly recommend their big breakfast or eggs Benedict. Probably one of the best Eggs Benedict I've had is from here. You have an option of choosing to have it on their house made hash cakes or ciabatta. You also have the option of having it with bacon, smoked salmon or mushrooms all for the same price.<br/><br/>The portion size is generous and you have the option of having a half or full portion. The hollandaise sauce is lathered all over and it is served with wilted baby spinach as well. They are very generous with their ingredients.<br/><br/>They have a private room upstairs and a play room for young children.
Stephy_NakiGirl
Great local cafe in Onehunga - such an awesome old building brought to life.<br/>They have a range of salads & cabinet items made fresh daily. <br/>Chose the smashed avocado on five grain with poached eggs, salsa & dukkah. Added bacon too - initially it didn't look crispy enough, but it was cooked well & was really tasty once I tried it.<br/>Coffee was nice - hot & not bitter. It actually came free with my dish which was a special offer. Great idea - not sure if this is permanent. <br/>Will visit again - they seem to have a lot of unique menu items.
Kerryj
I've been here a lot over the years and used to love taking home their russian fudge which unfortunately they don't seem to offer anymore. Also remember their caramel cheesecake, I ended up searching out a recipe so I could make it at home.<br/>Last week I called in for a late lunch and ended up trying their blueberry pie with cream and a latte on the side. The pie was really good with fresh crisp pastry, though had to be careful as the filling was piping hot.<br/>There are tables in a back room and upstairs though I prefer the tables alongside the counter even though it can get cramped when the place is busy. The outlook is to the street and also to the delectable food on  display.
Michelle Hwang
Had a large flat white for $ 5.50 there. Bitter, hard to fell its mellow. Offer approx 30 kinds of baked item and 8 kinds of salad dish. All looked tasty and fresh.
James T. Raukete
Oh so Luscious.<br/><br/>As always, it is very busy at this Onehunga Cafe on a Sunday morning and for good reason. Great coffee and a vast selection of food on their menu and display cabinets. <br/><br/>This cafe is one of my favourites as it is consistent. Consistent coffee, which is VERY important, and consistently good food. Their Big Breakfast is always good. Quite a large breakfast with everything from Bacon and Eggs to Corn Fritter with Chorizo and Hash Browns. Had an awesome idea by grabbing something sweet from their cold cabinet to take away for later.<br/><br/>Definitely recommend this place, but don't be disappointed if you can't get a table. 👌🏽
Harry
Come here weekly to get takeaway salad for lunch. Different varieties - my fav watercres pasta with feta, also thai beef noodles, kumara salad & beetroot salad. Portion size very big
Owen Newbould
Great cafe! Staff were very nice and everything was reasonably priced. The food was delicious and was served within 10 minutes of sitting down. Would highly recommend the bacon hash (pictured) which had plenty of mushrooms and a perfectly poached egg. Will definitely be coming back again!
Ameliakmateni
Great service! Ordered food for takeaway over the phone, there was no fuss about it and we picked it up within 10minutes of making the phone call! Chicken and bacon club sandwiches were delicious as always! Thanks luscious!

Came here for a morning breakfast and was keen to try as this is a local! Food in cabinet looked really good although a little overpriced. We ordered Breakie hash which came with creamy mushrooms and a poached egg. I ordered creamy mushrooms with a extra of scrambled eggs. We also ordered a iced chocolate and a cookies and cream milkshake. The drinks came out but they had given us the wrong milkshake!! Food came out and looked really good...although I feel creamy mushrooms should look and taste creamy.. Sadly they were nice but just not creamy! The bread (ciabatta my favorite) was over toasted making it quite tough! Eggs were nicely scrambled. My partners meal was good with nice flavours and homemade? hashbrowns. All in all a little underwhelmed!
Realistic Reviews
Luscious Cafe is a small, and comfort based cafe located in the heart of Onehunga. The ambiance of the venue centres on warmth, both in the decor and food.<br/><br/>Service: 7/10<br/>- Counter order only. A 'local' type feeling. Friendly staff.<br/><br/>Food: 7/10<br/>- Can be hit and miss. Generally a hit. Wide cabinet variety, especially in salads. <br/>Portion size is reasonable, however can feel slightly overpriced on certain items.<br/><br/>Coffee: 7/10<br/>- Serves Gravity. Coffee is typically made to reasonable standard, though if certain baristas are working the machine, you can get something surprisingly good. <br/><br/>Final Comment: 21/30 <br/>-Luscious cafe is well worth a stop past.<br/>It sets a realistic expectation and delivers.<br/>Performs well for its market bracket.

We love our eggs bene but unfortunately this one was just average.. The hash brown was more like mash potatoes the hot choc way to milky not enough choc.
Zara Alexzandra Young
I really like the selection of salads but apart from that the cabinet is quite average. The menu options are okay and they have definitely improved with the change of ownership/management.<br/>The coffee is really good and they have a great selection of sweet treats.<br/>The upstairs area is really good for children as there is a playroom and the building is really cool as its quite old but it's Been looked after well
Andrew @anjeats
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: set in one of old buildings along Onehunga Mall, Luscious Cafe has an appealing counter filled with baked items and salads. As with many character buildings there are several interesting spaces to dine in (today we ate in a private room upstairs). <br/><br/>FOOD: in the past I have eaten the salads (totally recommend) but today I ate off the menu and chose the chicken club sandwiches and fries. The sandwiches were toasted and full of ingredients - the mix of tomato, chicken and bacon was delicious. The fries were chunky and very moreish. Portions are on the big side and great if you have a good appetite! Mum loves her oriental prawn omelette and dad enjoyed his big breakfast. <br/><br/>COFFEE: delicious. Creamy and strong. <br/><br/>SERVICE: friendly counter staff. The young male waiter kindly took our orders from our table (normally its counter service on the weekend) so we appreciate his can do attitude! <br/><br/>This is definitely one of the best cafes in Onehunga. The food is consistently good (the salads are worth coming for) and the coffee is always reliable.

Good experience with this cute litte Cafe for breakfast this morning. Staff were friendly and helped to make up my mind about what to eat because everything looked so good! I ordered a simple Eggs Benedict with avocado, and a soy milk spicy chai latte. The Cafe wasn't very busy at the time we went in, so my order was quick to come out. I was very pleased with both the food and drink, and I would definitely recommend this place for a bite to eat. When I have more time I will definitely come back to try more of the menu!<br/><br/>Edit: came in and had eggs benedict, toasted chicken sandwich stack, salmon bagel = so good!

Worked up an appetite witha retail therapy session at Dressmart. Luscious cafebis on the Main road of Onehunga mall. Despite being opposite two cafes they clearly sit in the boutique foods very high end salads gourmet pies and rich muffins. Multilevel seating rooms and the kitchen in the back. <br/>The muffin I ordered was a savoury muffin and it is in the class of healthy foods. When eating it its like uou were eating a healthy epicurean or artsian food. Something sticky on the glaze is annoying as your hands and knife get sticky. 4/5<br/>A chicken and cranberry pie was good and the herbal coat was a nice taste complimentungvthe cranberry. 4/5;<br/>Finally a spinach and feta pie with a fancy pastry really healthy tasting again. 3.5/5

So we start a new thing here (hopefully it actually starts) of trying Sunday brunch at nearby cafes!!<br/><br/>First stop - luscious cafe (weird name LOL). It will surprise you how big the place actually is. If old style buildings is your thing you will love it. I wasn't too thrilled but a table by the window on a rainy yet sunny morning was quite nice.<br/><br/>Cafe was busy since it was around noon - always a good sign. I ordered creamy mushrooms, side salad potato and bacon and a FW. Coffee was prompt and nice. Food was average but nothing to complaint about. Creamy mushrooms are nicer when served on top of crispy toast rather then on the side. Salad was just like it looked simple yet delicious. The bacon stack that friend ordered looked good along with the cookies n cream smoothie. <br/><br/>Service was prompt enough. There was a long table left un-cleared for a while which was a turn off but more annoying was the loud screeching noises the floor made when they tried to move them around - felt for the staff though who were only trying their best.<br/><br/>Overall - not a bad place to eat but nothing that makes me want to go back too many times either!

Interesting cafe in Onehunga. Cafe feels like an a little town house that's been converted which gives its unique character. <br/><br/>The food:<br/>Had lunch here which was delicious.. I had a half and half salad, Kurama Salad and Potato Ham Salad. The Kumara salad was to DIE for!! We also got a  Chunky fries which were delicious. <br/>The food there was good and presentation was okay, not the best. <br/>The menu was a little limited with choices but still satisfying. <br/>The coffee/chai here are ginormous and delicious so you have enough coffee to sip on with your meals!<br/><br/>The Service: <br/>Very friendly staff, they make you feel very welcome from the moment you walk into the cafe. They are quick to attend you if you need any assistance and the food came out quick. However the food all came out at different times, it would be nice if they all came out together so that not just one person is eating at the table while the rest of us wait. Otherwise staff here get 5 stars!<br/><br/>The Setting:<br/>It a little house that's been converted into cafe so its not ur usual. Its interesting to look at but its also crammed up. Its a very lively cafe as people and waiters have to walk by you to get from room to the other. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained! The upstairs apparently has a kids playroom  so this could be a plus for anyone going there with toddlers. <br/><br/>Price is not bad and I would recommend you try this place at least once!

Great coffee and really tasty salads. We get a take out salad @ least once a week to have for dinner. We're quite partial to their pesto pasta w. walnut and feta and aioli potato salads. It's also a bonus if you can grab one of their freshly backed cheese scones or dates scones w. your coffee. The medium salads are about $11 but there's enough for dinner for two and then lunch the next day.

Awesome value! Huge , delicious meals. We ordered the feast which had lots of goodies. Especially liked the creamy portobello mushroom and 2x kransky sausages. And ordered a club sandwich with a side of small salad. Everything was fresh and delicious. <br/><br/>On another occasion, we also had the bacon hash which came with maple bacon which were sweet, crispy and delicious 😋

Great food, friendly staff and coffee is also good. Absolute jewel in onehunga. Will make a point to return to this delightful cafe. Yum!!!!

The choice of food here is phenomenal. Gorgeous salads make a great take out lunch. Coffee is good though I wouldn't call it excellent. The surroundings are a bit drab, but it's top-notch when it comes to take out menu.

I'm not sure if there are new owners here, but the whole place feels different and does not have such a big selection as before. Both my daughter and myself had a sore tummy after having the chick pea salad, and I just want to let the owners/cook know, you need to soak chickpeas overnight before cooking. Would be a good idea to be a bit more friendly to your customers when they come in, will be better for your business.

I have been ordering morning tea for our office functions from Luscious. I have to say I have never experienced such bad service from someone I am trying to give a big order to. Don't return phone calls and when they are busy they ask the customer to call back. If you don't want to chase up people to get stuff done then don't deal with these guys. Very bad service

The coffee was awesome and the service. Had the big feast breakfast, the corn fritters did not taste too good(burnt), but the rest of the plate was a pleasure to eat. Too full to sample the food cabinet, will definitely be heading there this weekend to try the salads and the sweet fudge/cakes.

Have been a few times to this cafe, and the coffee has always been great, and the fudge outstanding.<br/>Recently came for lunch, and the food was pretty good. <br/>Wouldn't hesitate to come back, especially for that fudge!

Adore the food ... the salads, the baking. The coffee's fine but not the best in Onehunga. All the food is delicious so the name Luscious fits well. I know they do catering - I wouldn't hesitate using them if I had the need. They do packaged food goods which I often buy for gifts - divine fudge, muesli, cakes etc. I haven't been there for a while but I've been there off and on for 10+ years? ... from the beginning ... a young but talented couple started it from nothing. They are great and I always enjoy seeing them if they are there (they have young children) but the staff they employ aren't always the best. But as I say I haven't been there lately.

Last time I went they forgot to bring our coffees up until we went down to remind them. The time before, the same. The time before that, there was a hair in my fish patty, and they grudgingly swapped it, remarking that the cook didn't have hair like that- while pointedly looking at mine.<br/>I use cafes weekly in Onehunga, and try not to go here, although others often want to for the kids area or the space. The salads are OK- not many others offer them, so comparatively, they're good. The coffee is OK. The cakes are very good. The staff aren't particularly great. Onehunga has many cafes, you don't need to settle for this.

I recently visited the delightful Luscious Food Store in Te Atatu Peninsula. We sat outside, and wached the children playing in the sandpit, etc. I think the reviewer called Pip is referring to that establishment, not Luscious Cafe in Onehunga Mall, which I cannot fairly comment on as I haven't been there for many years. I am required to rate it to complete this 'review' so my rating is based on that historical occasion! I had a great brunch there 10 years ago.... Will return one day.

I went to Luscious last week and I was really impressed with the service.<br/>As soon as we got to the counter we were greeted by a cheerful barista.<br/>When I asked if the vegetarian pide had goat's cheese in it (it did) and they immediately offered to make me one without it. <br/>The food and coffee were spot on.<br/> <br/>Love the kid's menu and the outdoor area, with mats on the grass if you want a more laid back visit. My 2 year old had a great time in the sand pit and writing on the huge blackboard.<br/><br/>The floor staff were chatty and smiley.<br/><br/>I'll be back!

The salads are just superb. I've had one every time I went - even if I just went in to get a coffee and something sweet. But you just can't resist. They look so healthy and yummy - and certainly are! Also the sweets were always very nice and I was also always lucky with the coffee. I also like the atmosphere there and the different seating options downstairs or upstairs. Luscious really brightens up the trip to the airport if I have to drop someone or pick someone up!<br/><br/>Would be cool if it was open longer! People also drink coffee after 4pm!

The food is amazing, the coffee is ok most of the time. The atmosphere in the cafe is the main problem. If it wasn't for the kind staff then I would never go back, the space up stairs is tolerable but still they could do so much more with the place.
Rebecca Keesing
The salads are the reason I go to 'Luscious'. Consistently tasty, creative and fresh. Service is average-not unpleasant but not particularly attentive either. Shame they are not open Sundays (but I understand everyone needs a day off)

Really love the selection of cabinet food and the oh so lovely salads, especially the yellow lentil salad which is an absolute favourite of mine. Also, the white chocolate brownie, one for me and one for the drive home (chuckle, chuckle)... Now iv only decided to give it 3.5 stars (just imagine a .5 star as well) because I find the coffee is never consistent. <br/>Food is absolutely glorious, and the service is quick and friendly, but consistency in the coffee making would be the<br/> only thing that I would fault it on.

I guess I went on a bad day. They did say their usual muffin chef was on holiday after I sent back two muffins (the second was to replace the first gluggy mess but was no better). <br/><br/>I've had salads from there before, and they were delicious. I might just stick to them next time.

Great cafe for a little treat a yummy salad or a great coffee (or so i hear, im a soy hot chocolate kinda person)<br/><br/>variety has become less exciting here over the past year or two but still very good for a saturday morning meeting or catch up with friends.

My favourite cafe of all time. Love all the salads and actually crave them if I haven't had them for a few days...yum!!

2015/2016 edit: <br/><br/>Came here a few more times with friends - it's on the more expensive side (can past the $20 mark) if you choose add ons & the portion size is smaller than other cafes in the same area & I feel it's not filling if you purchase the meal as is. <br/><br/>Coffee is a hit or a miss depending on the barista making the coffee. <br/><br/>Pretty good cafe. Although I only had their hot chocolate (back in '09) a few times and their salad recently - the salad was odd and reminds me of mum's cooking (weird) but edible!<br/><br/>Tried their lemon cake(?) which was recommended by the staff working there, the sponge is very dense and the filling is way too sweet. Wouldn't really recommend this as it isn't too enjoyable, especially for the $6.50 price tag. <br/><br/>The staff are friendly and there's always a few people inside every time I walk past.<br/><br/>Will definitely give this cafe a few more tries in the near future once my taste buds/body adjust to my new found coffee addiction.

Luscious is as luscious does. And it surely delivers on that - fresh tasty salads, bacon and egg pie made the old fashioned way, cakes and slices to die for. I always find myself blinking a little at the sight of Luscious, in all its shimmering deliciousness, sitting in the middle of a completely forgettable strip of dollar shops and budget stores. All very Harry Potter really ...

Great coffee, delicious salads. If I was running late for a BBQ this is where I"d get my salads. Relaxed atmosphere, good place to meet upstairs for mums and kids.
