Review Peacock Sky Vineyard - Onetangi

Laura Noblejas
Outstanding- go here before any other vineyard. Really good they don't tolerate rude drunk hen's party people. Actually the rest of the world doesn't care you're getting married and it doesn't give you a license to be rude and drunk and offensive at the detriment to other guests! Exceptional service, exceptional food - highly recommend lamb shanks and beef cheeks. Dog friendly ! Love it! Go here !

We had the most amazing lunch up in the "Sky" today. Beautiful setting, amazing food and a fantastic rose 🌹. Kim did the wine tasting - said it was brilliant.

Probably our favourite vineyard to visit when we go to Waiheke. Great food, wine and views. Also it is a much smaller scale vineyard compared to some of the main tourist ones so you get a much more authentic experience.

Made my way across the island to this vineyard after reading some great reviews. Was so worth it! Such lovely staff who looked after me from the moment I arrived, had such a nice relaxing afternoon. Did a tasting with Andy who was very informative and great chat, and the yummy little food pairings made it extra fun! Had the ravioli and the coconut mousse.. both DELICIOUS and gorgeous to look at. Did I mention the wine was amazing? Special thank you to the staff who all made me feel very welcome & to Fiona, who went above and beyond to help me get back across the island! Definitely recommend a visit when on Waiheke!

Choice little winery. Excellent food great tasting wine. Pity you can't buy the brand outside the island. Excellent wine tasting with perfect sample tasters to go along with the wine. Only negative from our experience was one of the managers was in a foul mood and treated us very negatively compared to the other members of our tour.

Went there for wine tasting, excellent service, very good idea to have a food pairing for each wine, although the food tastes average. Still worth the drive up the hill and a bit of gravel road.
Mike Salter
We tasted an excellent selection selection of wines and the pairing with the food was outstanding.

Definitely a winery to put on your list. Delicious wines, more than sensibly priced tastings, and a personal touch that some of the other wineries can learn from.

My absolute favourite vineyard on the island. There's something special about each and every one of them... but this is hands down my favourite. Their tasting is the best I've ever been to!

Awesome spot with a great wine tasting with food pairing. We were lucky enough to have the owner taking us through, so she had an excellent knowledge and did an absolutely excellent job of explaining everything. We then sat down to a beautiful lunch with a lovely wine selected from the tasting. Everything was thoughtfully prepared and presented. The place was spot on! Highly recommend it!

Great new tasting! Had good pairings with each tasting! Tammy brought out the flavours of the wines 👍🏾

Hannah our 'Hostess with the mostest' was informative, fabulous & friendly, loved the food & wine tasting! Thanks Hannah

I strongly recommend making yourself some time to visit the cute and adorable place on the island. The place owners make sure that their employees are very well trained. Their chardonney will blow your mind. The kitchen staff does a wonderful task making the food for pairings come out amazing. I went a long time ago. And some time later this place is one of the most beautiful memories I have of the island. Thank you Rob and Connie. I will forever be great full.

My wife and I did a degustation tasting at the restaurant as part of a wine tour. It was the highlight of the whole tour. The food was fantastic and the wines paired beautifully. Connie came to our table and shared her enthusiasm for both the wine and the food. We scheduled a second trip to Waiheke island just to go back to have lunch. A definite must go place.

Very personal tasting, we chose the one for $12 which had their sparking and 2 whites. There are I think 4 different tasting to choose from, and all have a food pairing to go with it, of little bite sized tasters to enhance the wines. Our server was enthousiastic and we tasted an extra 2 whites for free. The tasting fee was not waived upon purchase of a bottle, but think that’s fair given the food pairing and the personal attention we were given.

One of the only vineyards on waiheke we came accross that does a wine tasting with food pairing. Was such an awesome experience, and the wines were all stunning. Walked out with a few bottles and ideas. Also bought some of their delectable brownie, which was paired with a lovely Cabernet Merlot highly recommend! Staff were super friendly and very knowledgeable. Our small dogs were allowed in with us for the tasting, and were greeted with enthusiasm by staff :) Would love to visit again and have lunch with their delectable wines in the stunning surroundings.

Fantastic tasting. Connie, one of the owners knows how to run a tasting, she's also the head chef and has put together an awesome degustation tasting of wine and food. Lots of the food is either a family secret, clever flavours or just a strong opinion on what tastes work. She is on the money. Having that intimate, local knowledge is fantastic and a rare treat. She also encouraged interaction with the other couple having the tasting and we got on so well, we shared a bottle of the Peacock Sky bubbly. Loved it. Thanks Connie! Can't wait to come back.

Good wines, great orange brandy. The food pairings were great - particularly the Thai soup

Connie (the owner) was honestly the most incredible host. She made a last minute booking of 18 people work within fully booked restaurant which we were so thankfully for. Once we got there the service was quick organised and easy - lunch with 18 people can get complicated. Then followed with the best wine and food pairing I have ever had. A must see winery on Waiheke! I will be going back.

Very disappointed. My mother in law got a “premium meal” group one voucher. We looked up online and were excited by the “fine dining” that the restaurant suggested. When we arrived we put at a table where the chairs didn’t match let alone match the rest of the dinning room (my chair actually was falling apart). We were then given the following for our premium meal: a glass of bubbles, a garden salad which most of the leaves were bruised, a cheese board with snacks crackers and water crackers and a rum ball each. The staff were indifferent to our experience. When I complained the manager had said about he quality of the meal her response was they had never had any complaints about it. I’m not sure what the meal cost because it was a gift, but it was not premium on any level and had a I been paying I would have refused. I will not recommend anyone go there for a meal. The wine was nice and maybe the should stick to wine and basic meals instead of trying to be something they are not.

Thank you so much to Connie and her team. We went to Peacock Sky today with not a lot of hope that I was going to find something I could eat from the menu as I'm not allowed any form of sugar and she came and sat down with us and went through every ingredient of every meal to find something I could eat.. changed a main around a bit and next thing we know, we are eating delicious meals listening to live music.. we could have stayed all day.. highly recommend to everyone that they look this place up when in Waiheke. It's a bit off the main road but well worth the drive up the hill. We will be back ďż˝

Went here at the recommendation of a lovely couple we met while in the island and my sister had recommended more than once so we finally went. We just sorry we hadn't been here on previous visits to Waiheke. We had the degustation style tastings - the hostess informed us well about the wine ďż˝ which was easy to drink and the accompanying food tastings were delectable and a teaser of what was to come with our main meal. We all enjoyed our main as well. I highly recommend Peacock Sky ďż˝ we were also fortunate to meet Connie the owner /and chef ďż˝ where we were able to enjoy her rice pudding and fruit dessert as well as fried lemon peel. The service was fantastic. Great day out thanks to the hospitable Peacock Sky.Also try the limencello and take a bottle home.

Amazing place - one of the hidden gems of Waiheke not to be missed. We come here every time we're over, the wine, the food and the service are all second to none. Highly recommended and single handedly changed my opinions of Chardonnay and Rose.

Seriously great menu that brings out the best in the superb wines. A more thorough style of wine tasking that was informative and very enjoyable.

Unfortunately both my boyfriend and I agreed that this establishment was below average. We got the duck platter and it was a strange combination of pickled veggies and duck spread- was ok. We were given no cutlery and no serving knives. Different waitresses served us throughout our time- think would be better if one looked after certain tables. I'm no prude but really don't think short-shorts that show your bum cheeks is appropriate work attire. Heard one lady (may be a owner) loudly questioning a lady about why she didn't eat all of her ribs... Went to pay and the man could't figure out what table we were from as no slip was given to us. It's also a shame that where you dine doesn't have a nice view of the vineyard.... Place defs has potential but rough around the edges- needs sharpening up. I loved the Rose'. Will not be returning

I can't wait to bring people here. Tasting with food pairing was supreme. Never been to a winery and enjoyed every wine I've tried. Attentive, friendly staff. Stayed for lunch which was honestly top class and great value. Fantastic experience

My husband and I did a winery tour on Waiheke Island just before Christmas. We absolutely loved Peacock Sky and only wished we could have visited again. I’m sure we will be returning to New Zealand in the next few years. We bought The Chardonnay and drank it Christmas Day, perfect choice. Definitely worth a visit, the wine was wonderful and the food pairing spot on. Thank you guys

Great tasting experience, friendly and helpful service and the food on the new menu is excellent. It's operated and run by the owner's Connie and Rob who are just lovely people and are passionate about food and their wines. Will be visiting again for sure.

I had an amazing day at Peacock Sky Vineyard. The wine and food were superb and the pairings were genius. It is also a very beautiful vineyard and my favourite that I have visited. Will come again for sure. Thank you Connie, Nathan & the staff, we had a divine day here :)

Awesome wine tasting experience; amazing food and wonderful staff. :-)

Connie took us through a truly wonderful tasting of Peacock Sky’s fabulous wines; so good that we just had to carry on to lunch. By then Connie had our preferences pegged and recommended the perfect dishes and wine pairings. All in all a flawless and memorable experience, with impeccable, personable hosting.

Went to a birthday lunch on Sat, 12 Jan. Where do I start, how about the salmon. This was something else. It was so over cooked. Maybe they forgot about it in the oven. This poor piece of salmon was paired with ONE tablespoon of rice and 3 leaves of salad. However, there was a chance for redemption, the signature cake. Well, turned out it was prepared with the same care as the salmon – over cooked, dry and tough. This disappointing meal cost $45. Apart from the wonderful lady who presented our wine tasting, the rest of the staff seemed non-energetic, unhelpful, and unsure about their payment systems. Such a terrible experience.

Went for a friends birthday. The maître de wasn’t very welcoming, sort of made out like she was doing us a favour and then the food was appalling. Tiny serving of dry salmon, a desert spoon of rice and a few mesculan leaves. Along with a piece of birthday cake was $45. Definitely not going back. Our orders were taken by a show of hands too. Not the kind of service you would expect from a nice vineyard.

It's hard to know where to start this review, but since it's a vineyard we can start with the wine. It was good. Go there, drink it. Then we get to the service. Most of the staff are foreign visitors who appear to have been forcably press ganged into the hospitality business in return for accommodation. I could be wrong, they were all very nice, but didn't seem very cheerful to be working. The ordering system reminded me of that used by Russian department stores in the 80s. You go to various counters to pick up wine and food after you have paid at the till. Leave the ordering experience to someone emotionally robust, it appears the training budget for using the words please or thank you has been cut in the last round of cost savings. So on to the food. This is the sort of food you would be proud of if your ten your old son or daughter had made it. And expensive for what it was. Maybe it was an off day, because I had heard good things. I am tempted to recommend they attend cooking classes, but apparently they teach them. There was a great covers band playing - the red herrings. We actually had a great time, so despite all my little issues head on up there. The idiosyncrasies are what make it quite special.

I love checking out the vineyards on Waiheke so today despite the weather we headed out to Peacock Sky for lunch. The food was delish and the wine great. They do a great wine tasting if you just want to pop in and sample some wine.

To describe Peacock Sky simply is a bit difficult, as a lot of things went into making our experience wonderful. From the friendly hospitality of Chief Winemaker & Chef, Connie, to the delicious wine tasting and fresh food - it was all wonderful. Special mention should be made of our private wine tasting session with Laura, which was a delightful adventure of the senses. All in all, we loved the people, the wine and the food, and will definitely be back when we return to Waiheke Island.

A must taste and visit when in Waiheke! As part of the wine tour we stopped and sampled the pairing of food and wine with the experienced abs very passionate Connie who took us through Asia and Europe describing the surroundings, smells and delights of their beautifully crafted wines. I'm not going to insult the expertise of the degustation knowledge of this warm owner/ hostess but encourage you to try their wares. The day we arrived the restaurant was having some alterations completed but where we had the tasting was just as gorgeous. Four different wines paired with spring roll, home made meatballs, pumpkin soup and decadent brownie to die for.
We purchased a home made chutney to take home and try: Cabernet Sauvignon & Date chutney cooked with caramelised onions, balsamic vinegar and Demerara sugar!

Peacock Sky is a charming little place with very warming hospitality.

What I liked about the platters were its simplicity: hearty meatloaf, flavoursome scotch eggs lovely olive oil, tomatoes and olives.

The sparkling rosé was a little sweet for my liking, but the mixed blend Pinot Gris was a real winner.

Once meals are done, I would suggest finding a seat outside in a comfy lounger and enjoy the surroundings. A very relaxing little spot and would love to come for the wine tasting next time.

One of the few wineries on Waihrke island that does degustation tastings with wine for all group sizes, the wine tasting itself was fantastic and the food was amazing. Was great to hear about the history of the vineyard as well, thanks to the lovely staff who made our experience all the more enjoyable. A must do on Waiheke!

We went in on a wine tour of Waiheke and did one of the wine tastings with food paring which we all found to be quite interesting I SO want to head back for the full menu though as it looked fabulous!
Gbuzz
Did the wine tasting and it was so fun. The food that was paired with the wine was perfect! I will need to come back to try more of the menu

I have not eaten here but we stopped in on a self drive wine tasting tour... No the driver was not drinking...The way they do their wine tastings in fantastic with small food pairings and the cost was very reasonable. We also tasted some of their liqueurs as well. The staff were very friendly and the whole experience was informative and fun.

We've been to PSV 2ce and look forward to popping in again this year. On the first visit a big group of us did the wine and food pairing then sat in the afternoon sun and had dessert and on the second visit, the same group had lunch there. Each visit was amazing, the views are amazing, Sky the dog is really friendly and PSV is definitely one of those must sees when on Waiheke. The staff there are extremely friendly and helpful too. Especially when our group needed a little extra help organising a taxi van. Good times, great wine, their Merlot Malbec is a nice smooth drop. Lol.
Lois Kerr
Lovely setting but food very poor. All dog burgers way overcooked & far far to many herbs added. So much so that's all you could taste. Funnily enough (being dog burgers) all gave theirs to one of our group for her dog as pretty much unpalatable for humans. Salmon penne very ordinary. On the plus side cheese platters & desserts were extremely good.
All mains may have looked the part but woeful on eating.

We had been here before and had a fantastic wine tasting, so had high expectations for lunch. When we finally made it there we were very disappointed to say the least.
The service was a joke, all of the wait staff looked like kids on their summer holiday, which I don't mind at all. Although they had no smiles no voice and just didn't know what they were doing.
The food.... Well it was awful. To put it bluntly.
We had two platters. $30 each. The 'ploughmans' consisted of a few pieces of bread, with a few olives and some awful meatloaf,
That was it!!! Then the other one wasn't much better.
After having some incredible platters on Waiheke. We were shocked.
I have given the review 2 stars because we like the sparkling wine. None for the food!!!

I have been to Peacock sky 3 times in the last few weeks (Oct - Dec) for different events, wine tours and just lunch.

The service here is amazing they know how to look after you. If you want a great day out with fantastic personable service then peacock sky is where you want to me.

Oh and they do bloody awesome sangria!!!!

Look forward to my next visit!

Wow, went there on Saturday 15th September in a group of 6. We had booked as their new tasting room had just opened and there was a new menu as well. The place was fully booked and the atmosphere was buzzing. Made friends with people at the table next to us as we were all looking at each other's platters that were arriving on various tables. They were LADEN with food, really yummy. We ordered two Beagle Bagel Baby platters and an Italian Greyhound. Love how all the platters are all dog based names - everyone ate them all, we even saw yummy desserts go to the table next to us but were too full from the platters to order dessert. The wine is excellent, we all did the food and wine pairing / tasting before our platters. A really good idea so you can choose your favourite wine with your food.
Service was fantastic, our wine glasses were topped up and my rose was placed in the fridge to keep cold between glasses. The staff were always asking for feedback and were genuinely friendly and helpful - even asking where we had come from and suggesting other things to do while on the island. I would absolutely recommend this vineyard as a great experience if you're looking at choosing a vineyard to go to on Waiheke. We stayed a good three hours on a fabulous day! Especially recommended for the high standard of food, service and beautiful wines. I'll be back!

We arrived at Peacock Sky with high expectations…unfortunately our overall experience was extremely under whelming. The service at best was comical; the food was below average and for simple cuisine overpriced. Waiheke, as a destination for a long lunch experience has an array of fabulous vineyards with impeccable food and service…. Peacock Sky is not worthy of its competition. They need vast improvement to be able to compete with their rival vineyards.

I would not recommend this vineyard as a place to experience.
