Review Vino Orewa - Orewa

Joss Bellerby
Lovely little restaurant, delicious food and great service. Will be back again and again. I have also had yummy takeaway pizza from here. Great gluten free option.

Delicious meal for 6 of the family. The food came out at the same time it was hot, fresh and very tasty. Great friendly service too and good value money. Thank you.

Wow what a lovely night we had. Beautiful food and awesome service. So nice to be able to sit outside on a warm autumn evening. Enjoyed the whole experience immensely. Thank you 😊

One of the best Mediterranean restaurant in Orewa. I tried spaghetti bolognaise, lasagne, smoked gourmet seafood pizza. Food wasn’t too salty, and moistured.
Eunice Kennedy
I ordered a gourmet vegetarian pizza. It was the best pizza I have ever eaten. Tasty and loaded with everything a vegetarian would wish for. Thank you vino
Laura Heyes
Great food which is a mix of Greek and Italian. Quick service and good selection of drinks.
Shirley Wilson
Great service and food, will definitely go back so many options on the menu to try.

The food is superb. Unfortunately they weren't answering their phone when I tried ordering takeaways. Tried several times then I left a voicemail thinking that's how they do business. Of course when we arrived at the restaurant they had just checked their message. They started cooking our meals straight away and I can't fault the service but it was an extra 30 minutes that we had to wait. At least I now know only order if someone answers the phone.

Absolutely loved my experience here. If you're looking for delicious food in an intimate setting in Orewa, this is the place! The menu is a blend of Mediterranean, Turkish and Italian food which is full of flavour and there is something for everyone here. Definitely recommend the lamb pizza paired with a couple glasses of vino. The owner is lovely as well and the staff were attentive :)

Friendly service. Could have brought drinks faster. Food nice.

Love every single time I visit Vino, the staff are super friendly. There is a great Mediterranean atmosphere, the pizzas are the best in orewa hands down

Best service I’ve had by a waiter in years lovely lovely experience

Superb evening out with our daughters. The food was delicious and the service was excellent.

I’ve never had Italian food like this in New Zealand, absolutely amazing! I driver an hour to Orewa for the food! It’s worth it every time!

Best Pizza you will find. The place is perfectly situated in Orewa, quiet and peaceful restaurant to enjoy lovely food. The kindness and heartfelt dedication to serving locals with Italian food is shown in the dedication and passion behind the food itself. Thankyou for making me feel acknowledged when I took my two small children to see the 'pizza man' they were so happy. Will be back often. You will not be disappointed here!

We love Vino. Before the pandemic we went there regularly. We've only just started eating out again. It is still as good as it has always been. If you like Mediterranean food, if you like a smaller more personal environment, if you like a family run establishment, then look no further. The staff are friendly and efficient. Portion sizes are generous & the wait from ordering to delivery to the table is just right. Its licensed. Parking close by. We have only ever had good experiences there, no matter what we've ordered. Enjoy!

Delicious food, good portion sizes and excellent service

Stunning food, great service , friendly staff, definitely the place to go!!!

A perfect meal. And wine to match. The service was fantastic. Friendly staff serving delicious food. So much to choose from so we followed the chefs advice. Excellent. Finished with a visit from the chef and a fond farewell. Go there.

I took my daughter to Vino's in Orewa for her 19th birthday and it was the first time we had been there. I can fully recommend this place. Food was delicious, staff were friendly, prices were cheaper than most restaurants and then (without it being arranged or asked for) they brought my daughter a dessert (on the house) with a candle in it. So thoughtful and generous and such a lovely touch to an awesome evening out. Thanks Vino and we will be back!! :)

We are on our honeymoon and stumbled upon this place. We were greeted buy a friendly waitress and immediately taken care of, the food was outstanding It feels like a long time since we had food this good. Can not recommend enough to people and will certainly be back next time when we come up. Well done!!!!!!
Tracy Aldworth
Definitely not worth your money, food was bland and got so little for how much we paid for.
Joanne Bright
Called in for coffee and dessert...what a mistake. Awful coffee and tasteless tiramisu. It used to be lovely. When I commented was told it was the same chef which I find hard to believe. Definitely won’t be back
Karina
The best place in Orewa for Italian! Have been here quite a few times and enjoy it every-time. I've tried the pizzas from here and the spaghetti bolognese before and its all tasted so good. Definitely recommend for a good Italian in Orewa.

Amazing food cooked with love and passion! Highly recommended for a cosy and warm atmosphere with great service. Vino is a hidden gem tucked away in Hilary Square, once you go once you will definitely be back!

Suggested to 7 of our friends that they come with us to Vino last night (our favourite restaurant in Orewa)! Everyone as impressed as us - wonderful meals, great service. Highly recommended!

We went here for a team dinner. The place was busy but we did have a reservation. We were seated well and comfortably even though the place seems small. The tuscan lamb pizza was great while the chicken breast was ok. The service was efficient but there was a bit of wait for the food as i did say above it was busy when we got there. I didnt get dessert but my team mates who did were satisfied. Overall a great night and will definitely come back again.

Went to Vivo last night and took our granddaughter. My husband had his usual favourite
oven baked spaghetti. The waitress told us about the special said it was delicious. I thought
I would try it. It was the best meal I have had in a long time. Chicken breast wrapped in bacon with
cream cheese and date filling. Served on garlic mash and apricot sauce. Yummy.

We only went for dessert, and we were disappointed. The Panacotta was too runny and not very flavoursome and had a crusty top, like it had been sitting in the fridge uncovered for a while. The baklava was covered in cinnamon which overpowered the whole dish. Won't be going back for desserts.

Had a lovely meal tonight. I had the chicken dish and it was so tasty. Hubby had the scotch fillet and enjoyed that also. Our waitress was very good and patient. I left my handbag behind and before we had reached the car the owner came out to return it to me. Love this place and definitely going back again soon.

Went to Vino Orewa for Father's Day and it was a great experience. The staff were welcoming with Greta service and the food and drinks were excellent and very well priced. I'd definitely go there again. Oh and the music was great too, made the mood.
Hannh Peters
Service was good even tho only one waitress working on the night. The atmosphere was suitable with one wall covered in a mediterranean scene and loud Itallian music playing on the speakers above. We started with pizza bread which was served with melted cheese ontop which was light &
delicious. An Itallian man delivered our mains, suspect he was the chef, owner or both. He must have been proud of my spanakopita which was really nice. My companion had the special oven which was similar to bolognaise. Both meals were good and we will be going back to try some of the other menu items.

Lovely meal
Great staff
Stunning wine
Would recommend
We choose mains Scotch Fillet and Spanakopita both were lovely.
Nanny Goat Pinot Noir was delicious
Third time we have been to Vino, had something different each time and each time it has been delicious hot and perfect.

I am fussy with my food. If I am paying for it I want it how I like it. I had the scotch fillet tonight (rare as always) many restaurants simply can't cook a decent rare steak, this one was hot and rare and the insides were hot too...perfection. The Bolognese my MIL had was enormous and delicious . My wife had the Lamb doner, my son had the Carbonara. All perfect.

Service is great and unobtrusive. Definitely our favourite sit down restaurant in the area.
Tim
I just waited nearly 55 minutes for two takeaway pizzas. Don't take my order and *definitely* don't tell me it will take 25 minutes if you have had a lot of pizza orders. Either you already had the orders in the list, or you cooked first for people who were sitting at tables. Either way, I won't be back.

The great thing about zomato is the ability to throw in a location, choose a restaurant and give it a go. Exactly what we did tonight.
The restaurant was busy which I guess is usually for a weekend. Basic selection of European food. Waitress was very friendly. Spinakapeta very tasty, hint of nutmeg. Partner had the fish of the day served with mash. Overall a friendly little family run business.

A great dining experience starts with the staff - fantastic from the word go and just a pleasure to deal with throughout the evening. Plenty of personality and laughs. The menu was clear and offered a good variety of options with quick service to follow it up. The food was fresh to our table and portion sizes were excellent, both in terms of volume of food and value for money. Our entrees were delicious but the mains were absolutely divine and kick the experience over from really good to utterly great, while the desserts cemented that position firmly. By the end, my appetite was absolutely satisfied but I didn't feel stuffed and was already checking over the menu to figure out what I would order next time. Lovely and comfortable atmosphere, even on a rainy night. The only qualm I would have about recommending Vino would be that I don't want it to get so popular that I can't get a table again! Supremely highly recommended - if you haven't been yet, you should go and enjoy a stunning dining experience!

Great food and great service. Their pizzas are just heavenly. Thin based original Italian style! For takeaways or dine-in I really recommend Vino Orewa!

My husband, two teenage daughters and myself went on Saturday evening for our anniversary. The restaurant is small and cozy. Clive apologized as they were working on their new menu and the menu at the time was very limited. This was true, there were very few dishes on the menu but once the food came out it did not matter. Everything we had, from the starters to the cocktails were great. I love my cocktails but I never know if a glass if going to arrive that will allow you only 3 sips before it is gone. Not at Vino, they have a photograph of the cocktail on the menu, so you can see the size before you order - I loved that and I had 3 Mai Tais!
Thank you for a lovely evening Clive and family. I can see us coming back again real soon as we all had a lovely time.

Husband and I went for dinner there last night. Lovely friendly staff, amazing food and nice quiet atmosphere. Many thanks we will definitely be returning...

We went to Vino last night for a friends hens party dinner. The service was absolutely fabulous & the meals were so delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant as a place you must visit. :)

Hi
I went here last week for a meal to celebrate my sons birthday. We had the pizza menu which were great. They were a generous size with my favourite thin base and great selection of toppings. I had the chicken and blue cheese which I loved. My son had the scallops which was his favourite.
Great wine list, tap beer was good too from the Hawkes Bay.
We will be back!

Had our last meal in NZ here before heading back to Canada. Nice little spot off the main strip. Staff friendly and attentive and the food was great. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but there are some cool beers to try here too! .

We tried Vino a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.The owner was very approachable, friendly and helpful.
The meals were very good and we now look forward to going back for our third visit tonight.

I read the reviews on here and was hesitant with the new management. In my opinion it's much better than before. They have obviously taken note of reviews . We found the host very attentive and pleasant. The wine was fantastic. I had the stuffed chicken my wife the fish... Both of which were up there with the best ever eaten. Portion sizes were more than I could eat... Great service, great wine, great food. Can't ask for much more

We went for my partners birthday dinner and won't be returning... upon arrival I asked for a certain drink that was on the menu, got the wrong one, asked again, got the wrong one, I gave up in the end and just drunk what I got. We didn't get advised of the specials, so ordered steak well done, came medium rare (over an hour later), we couldn't get out of there fast enough, it ruined the night for us and then when paying I told them of our experience and was asked if 10% discount was ok? I said no, having such a bad experience I won't be paying for my partners meal at all since a) it wasn't what he ordered and 2) it took an hour to get it!! a real shame because before it changed its name it was our favourite restaurant.

I have dined at Vino Orewa on two occasions now and I must say that my experience with the team has been outstanding!

I have tried the 'Red Wine Platter For Two' which was superb and I have also tried the 'BBQ Bonanza Pizza' which was by far the best pizza I have had in a very long time - the flavours were fantastic!

The exclusive wine selections are a big plus for me - unlike other restaurants that offer supermarket wine for 10 times the price.

Both times I have been to Vino Orewa, The Violin Guy - Nick Jones has been playing and he is absolutely amazing!

Great wine, great food, great music, great helpful staff...keep it up guys, you are doing an awesome job! AND I will definitely be back! Recommend to anyone!

I've been going to this place for years... right from when it first opened.
Since it's changed management I've been twice. Once just for drinks and once for the jazz afternoon, which was just fab!! Great Music, wine and food. The new owners are lovely, as is the staff. We'll be back for dinner very soon.

I had booked Vino Orewa for a lunch for 20 on Sunday 1st June.
The staff went out of their way to make it a memorable one, we were having a reunion for a group who had been to Samoa together and the tables were decorated accordingly. With individual menus with photos of the trip on them, a projector showed our photos on the wall, which brought back lots of happy memories. The chef worked out a menu for us which suited us all, the meal was great, the wine was great, the staff were great, all 20 of us had a great experience.
Well done Team Vino Orewa. We will definitely be back.
Thanks very much.

We had not been to Vino before but decided to give it a try last Sunday for lunch. Our meals were all perfectly satisfying. I had the fish of the day as did my sister-in-law and the fish was moist and flavoursome and served hot. The others in our party had a pizza, hamburger and an omelette and everyone thought the meal to be above average. The setting was cheerful and not overly decorated. Our waitress was obliging, friendly and efficient. We will certainly return and have already recommended the restaurant to friends.

Took some friends from the UK for what we thought was going to be a fantastic meal, as we had only been there 4 weeks earlier, before it had changed hands. Walked in and noted it had completely changed and straight away felt it didn't feel good. Ordered our meals including signature dish, salt and pepper squid, as an entree. This did not look or taste the same as it previously had. When the mains arrived they were inedible - chicken was dried, overcooked and all 5 meals were cold. We informed the staff, who were very helpful, that we were not prepared to pay for our mains and left. Made the comment to them 'why fix something that wasn't broken'. Won't be going back.

Having always loved the Pizza's from Vino Per Favore, both my wife and I were really disappointed to see that this place has obviously changed hands and the quality of pizza is nothing like it used to be. From the best we have experienced to one of the worst. Very disappointed.

We have dined twice at this revamped wine bar, (including the grand opening evening on the 10th May.) Both evenings have been really enjoyable.
The service from the young staff seems friendly and efficient. The menu has a good variety to choose from, the pâté was amazing - was served in a large pottle, so we asked for more toast so we could scrape up every last scrapping !!
The Risotto with chicken had fabulous flavours, as was the crispy salt and pepper calamari. The chips are tasty and seasoned perfectly.
The owners obviously know their wines, a great selection seems on offer, which is what a great wine bar provides.
Apparently there's to be a new menu presented soon, so we all look forward to seeing what new additions chef Winston will add, and going back to enjoy this great addition to Orewa.

We had a lovely evening here last week. The staff were helpful and friendly and the food was delicious. We were a large group and there was no problem with getting orders timeously. Everyone in the group certainly enjoyed the night. Thanks guys - we'll be back.

We had awesome Sunday night dinner there on the weekend approx 15 of us including 2 small children and it was a very good night the dinner was yummy we all had various meals from the menu my fave would have to be the Risotto and the Chicken. Very good service for our big table and desert was delicious. I would recommend to friends. They did a superb job and made us feel so welcome to end our weekend with a family dinner -as we were up in Auckland for the my sisters wedding.

Oh Dear what have they done? As a frequent diner before it was sold a few weeks ago the food was fabulous and the atmosphere was always good ...loved the little niknaks on the walls and the gingham table cloths..made it a real winebar feel.
The new owners have slashed the menu by a half at least and the choices are very dreary to say the least. The mains need a sauce as they all look very dry..most of our party had chicken and steak and were very underwhelmed..the white walls offer no ambience and looks very sterile..Im not really quite sure what theme they are going for but certainly way off the mark as a winebar.
