Walked in at 3pm, ordered prawn masala. Fast service. Good vegan options too, would return.

Friendly staff. Did not have to wait too long for the food. Big portions. Food was delicious. It was the second time we went. Will go again.

We went for a meal last night I've walked past the place many times, the food and service was amazing. This is the best indian we've to since we've moved to Nz

Lots of great vegan options with clear labelling. We enjoyed everything we ordered, but the Vegetable Masala and Chana Samosa were outstanding! We'll definitely be back

I've eaten here a number of times now. Excellent service and tasty meals. Saag is a favorite of mine and this has got to be one of best I've had. Lovely to have such good Indian food local.

Not sure what the previous complainants are griping about. Had dinner here last night and the food was spot on. Looked and tasted like authentic Indian food. Bloody delicious. I wasnt really hungry when we arrived, but i couldn't stop eating the food. The lady who served us was very nice and helpful. I recommend the Wishing Well and i look forward to eating there again.

Good tasty food. Able to accommodate off the menu request. Seems to have more take away trade than sit inside customers. Good portion at reasonable prices. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Sorry but some of these bad reviews that I just read are mostly wrong first of all I have been coming to wishing well of india since I was around 7 I am now 26 years of age and everything I get on a Tuesday it's amazing I always get the mango chicken and the butter chicken and popadoms but one thing about the butter chicken it's very different to any other butter chicken it's a very nice herby taste to it it's never changed its recipe as I have been coming here for 9 years most of the time I have the butter chicken the next night I heat it up in a pot very slowly and it never Separates as other one's do and the people that work there are actually nice and it probably doesn't help that customers are actually rude and not honest like the man that ate here two nights how rude.... and for me ..not you .. for me it's got to be the best butter chicken that EYE have tried around northisland ..FOR MEE .. I DONT KNOW ABOUT YOU ... but for melee it's the best see you guys tonight

The waitress was friendly and efficient. The food was good. We will be back.

We ordered a Tikka Masala and a Butter Chicken. When we called to warn them that both were horrifically salty (not even to ask for a replacement; just to let them know) the chef angrily got on the phone and said “nobody else has complained it must be you”

The FOH girl was nice, polite and trying to find a solution despite us insisting we weren’t looking for a replacement, however the phone got passed on to the ‘chef’ and the phone call took a turn for the worse and we ended up hanging up on him after a couple of minutes because he wouldn’t stop ranting at us about how it was our fault (unsure how four people can find it too salty, also we order a curry from a different store every week for variety and have never had this problem). We literally just wanted to let them know it had been over salted and got yelled at from the chef as thanks. We tend to take reviews with a grain of salt (pun intended), but I really wish we had listened to the ones about Wishing Well Orewa and not wasted our money.

Oh also, all our naan breads were butter naan instead of the variety we ordered.

We have lived in orewa since 2011 and this is our restaurant of choice.
Reasonable prices, clean, a
great owner and staff. The meals are always ample, and the food is amazing.
I have tried most of the other restaurants in orewa and nothing else compares for quality and value.

Been coming here for years, great family local restaurant. Nice decor. Great friendly service and great food. Best of all kiddo is happy as he gets to eat nuggets and we get to eat yummo lamb sagwaala and chicken tikka masala with fluffy garlic naan. Plenty to eat and good spice if you ask for it. Reasonable price and bonus byow

We have been looking for a really good Indian meal in Orewa and it looks like we might have found our winner. We had Chicken Tikka Masala (Medium) and Garlic Naans. Really pleased with the amount of heat in the curry and texturally a good sauce. Liked how fluffy the naans were, though they could have a little bit more garlic on them. Will be back.

We’ve been coming here for months, ever since we moved into the area. Consistently delicious food, quick service. Decor is a little outdated but adds to the charm!

Warm welcome from the owner when we arrived set the tone for the night. We shared excellant samosas for entree and mains of chicken masala and tikka chicken, both hot as requested. Very good food at very reasonable prices.

Worst Indian I’ve had!! Horrible watery curry, no flavor, cheap shitty rice, no garlic or cheese in the naan as requested! Total waste of money!!!! Very annoyed :(

Went there after the beach as we were wanting quick and delicious food. We asked for hot for the curries and it was not spicy at all. This was the only down side. The food tasted amazing. Their cheesy garlic naan bread was really good. Our entire meals came out within 5-10minutes.

Great service, great food, quick service, entertainment everything what a restaurant needs love the food I can't say anything else it was the greatest food I've ever had!

Probably the worst takeway of any kind anywhere in my life. My wife had a lamb korma there were 6 small chunks of meat in a sludgy green tinged gravy. The food was so salty as to be inedible. In the small sample I had all I could taste was salt and the odd flavour of condensed milk. I had a tikka masala. The cook must have mistaken the MSG for salt as mine was also inedible at least I had a sprinkling of corriander. The naan was under cooked and the rice soggy. I wondered why while the restaurants either side were humming with patrons while there none at Wishing Well now I know.

The food is delicious we had palak paneer, veg korma both the dishes were good. The rise that they serve is different but you would like it.

Papadom were also good

The worst curry I have ever had. Watery and oily sauces. I have eaten hundreds of curries from all over the world and this was beyond disappointing. Absolute rubbish.

I get takeout from Wishing Well a few times a month. I've eaten at most other Indian restaurants in Orewa and the Coast, and as far as taste goes, Wishing Well is my favourite. Since I eat from here so regularly, I can say that the chefs are very consistent with each curry's taste and spice level. Their Chicken Tikka Masala is the best I've had.

Firstly, I'll start by saying I don't feel a review is accurate until you've tried a place twice.

I have had Indian food all around the world, from established restaurants to small hawker centres in remote locations and can honesty say I've never had worse Indian food in my life. You can tell that the food is bought as microwave dinners from the supermarket, heated and plopped on your plate.

I don't know how the business has lasted this long, especially in their prime location with a (seemingly) always empty restaurant, but judging by the surrounding eateries that are consistently booming, I doubt they'll be around for much longer.

The decor and atmosphere is morbid and the waitress reaffirms that notion with her disengaging demeanor.

I can only speak about the takeout service not dining in. Food was ready in 15min. The appearance of this place doesn't do it's food justice!! I recommend the chicken bhuna!!! Very good!!

Great food. Place is basic but the food makes up for it. Chicken Bhuna is great

Hi - we have always had a good experience with this Indian restaurant. The decor is basic but the food is consistently good, the service is always polite and the owners are friendly if you take the time to chat. Our favourite dish is the samosas and the lamb nawabi. They are now doing $10 curry Mon - Thurs all day which is a pretty great deal as the curries are big enough for two.

Tonight I made the mistake of ordering takeaway butter chicken from Wishing Well of India. I ordered 2 butter chicken dishes, one mild and the other medium. On eating the food I couldn't tell which was which and suspect it all came from the same batch made by a lazy cook (he sure ain't a chef!). The first clue about that was when I arrived to collect the food and was told that my order was 2 mild butter chickens. Hmmmm, no, one should have been medium. The woman dealing with the order shot into the kitchen and consulted with the guy cooking (he was cooking sans any hat or hair covering btw) who said something to her. She returned and apparently one of the butter chickens had been magically transformed into a medium. As I said, hmmmmm.
To the eating part. Nice enough naan bread, though pretty greasy. Not bad. The butter chicken? PATHETIC! it was tasteless muck, almost devoid of flavour and had a weird, oily texture to the dish as well. It was downright unpleasant to eat and I suspect there were maybe 2 spices involved in the cooking of this dish and even then, probably only a slight suggestion of said spices present in these woeful dishes. Talk about a budget effort. Never ever again will I patronise this restaurant which offers absolute rubbish food.

This is our regular Wednesday or Friday night takeaway place due to my wife working late in town, and we dine there regularly as well.

It's dated decor should not influence your decision to dine here.

It's cheap and cheerful, and the food is always consistently good. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, on the nights my wife has had to work late they taking orders past their normal close time.

My friend and I ordered pompadoms, 3 main Currys which we asked them to do as hot as possible (Indian hot), cheesy garlic naan bread and also a large bottle of sprite lemonade - this order came to $60.00 which we thought was acceptable. We were staying at a local motel for a few days and as we had a few drinks we were unable to pick up our order and they explained they had a delivery service available which we happily took them up on. 40 minutes later our order arrived which was good timing we thought. We were first handed our drink we ordered and we were given a 1.5 litre bottle of Pams ginger ale, on the phone we asked for price and the polite lady on the end of the phone when reading back our order confirmed we asked for sprite lemonade. That was mistake one. We then went into our motel to start the meal, pompadoms were not crunchy as usual but rather soft and flimsy, the cheesy garlic naan bread however was very nice. We started on the main Curries, when on the phone to the lady we asked for Indian hot or as hot as they possibly could make it. It was so mild that even my 2 year old daughter could eat it without any trouble, it was the same mildness as butter chicken out of a jar at the supermarket. All three curries - vindaloo, korma and butter chicken were mild. We called up next day to complain as we did not think we should have paid for a meal which we did not ask for, I really do not enjoy curry unless it is hot. They would not offer to provide us back any partial refund and said that the curry was as hot as they could make it - this certainly was not true I believe because it was about 8pm on a Monday the chef was lazy and just wanted to finish up for the night. Then we asked about the sprite we were meant to have brought, they said sorry they had none so replaced it with ginger ale (which is more a mixer than a soft drink). I believe they should have called us regarding the drink before assuming that we wanted dry ginger ale. We asked how much the drink was and they said $5.00... The same brand of drink is at the supermarket for.99 cents - so a nice 500 percent mark up on their part. If I received sprite lemonade which I asked for I would not have minded paying $5.00 for it. Poor poor service, will never go back and will make sure no friends or family go their either.

Although I am a frequent customer and have been consistently satisfied with the quality of the food - my experience tonight was poor. As it was after 7:30pm, my girlfriend and I telephoned ahead to make sure the restaurant was going to be open and we were assured it would be until 9:30pm. We arrived at 8:15pm and were promptly served a tasty meal. Unfortunately the entire experience was ruined by a staff member - whom I assume was the owner. It was clear by his manner that he didn't want us there - obviously preferring to shut up shop and go home. He stared and loitered and rushed us through the service. Not one smile. Not one pleasant comment. When we came to pay for the meal he took my credit card with a wet hand that was covered with some kind of washing up liquid or food residue, which I subsequently had to wipe off the card. This kind of intimidating, dismissive attitude is unacceptable and it's a real shame that an otherwise good quality restaurant had to be ruined by such behaviour. Disappointed.

We dine here very regularly.

It would be fair to say the the decor is a bit average, but don't be fooled the food has always been delicious.

The staff are very friendly.

I would recommend anytime. We have never has]d a bad meal there.
