Review Try It Out - Otahuhu

Authentic flavors, delightful ambiance, and exceptional service make this Vietnamese restaurant a top choice. From pho to banh mi, every dish is a culinary delight. Highly recommended!

finally got to try out the famous try it out restaurant. the beef pho broth was soooooo good and lemon grass chicken on rice was delicious. we ordered fried wontons as well, super yummy and the batter lowkey tasted like mince pies. very authentic vietnamese food with a huge space inside. price is reasonable for the portion size and service was nice too! it’s so far from where we live but would come to otahuhu just for viet food.

Best Vietnamese food in Auckland. Their pho rice noodle has a unique texture to it (like a super soft udon noodle) which was cooked to perfection. Their grilled pork is amazing, their fried spring roll is amazing and their vermicelli was full of vegetables. The price has increased since the last time I went, but the quality of food is still worth the value. Friendly staff whom even held a chat and greeted us with Merry Christmas as we left. Atmosphere is an open area inside, with a water fountain in front. Robots delivering food to tables and plenty of parking outside the restaurant. Highly recommend!

One of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Auckland!!! Food is authentic and many options to choose from phở, bún bò, hủ tiếu to bánh mì, and summer rolls etc. Highly recommend to everyone to check it out!!

There was a line and long wait when we went there but definitely worth the wait. Food has excellent taste. Staffs are very nice and accomodating.

Really wanted to try this place for a long time, heard lots of great things. I think a really good word to describe the whole meal is FRESH. All the ingredients tasted really fresh and high quality. I’ve had slightly better bun bo hue broth at other places but the ingredients were top tier. I love that they provide fresh chillies too! Spring rolls were good, really crispy and of course tasted so fresh. The price for the spring rolls did seem expensive at first but they’re much longer than similar spring rolls I’ve had at other places. And service was very quick even though the restaurant was mostly full!

everytime im driving out of or in to auckland, gonna make a stop at otahuhu for try it out. pho, banh mi, spicy noodles, rice plates, egg crepe, viet coffee all top tier. best vietnamese so far in auckland 🏝🥇

First sip of the Pho and we knew this place was going to be good. All of the memories of my experience in Ho Chi Minh came flooding back with each bite I took of the Bánh xèo, we also ordered the Lemongrass Chicken Salad and the chicken was so moist and flavoursome, don’t even get me started on the dressing that came with both the Bánh xèo and salad. Highly recommend coming here if you want to taste the flavours of Vietnam again or if you want to try it out for the first time. Pun intended ;)

I am not going to lie - I was motivated to visit 'Try it out' because I was told a Robot would deliver our food. The Robot was there, but it did not move durung our visit. However, the food made it all worthwhile - the crispy wontons were probably the best we've eaten and our mains were both delicous. The ingredients were tasty and fresh. 'Try it out' you won't be disappointed..

Introduced to this place by our Vietnamese friend. Apparently it’s been around for years and is an institution in the community. My experience is that it’s the best Vietnamese food in Auckland. Great tasting Pho, Bahn Mi, stuffed pancake and summer rolls. My family will usually dine in here at least once a fortnight.

Heard of this place from a VICE video, ended up going quite late on a Sunday night just over an hour before closing. Not a ton of people and the staff had started cleaning up but we were still able to order and eat. And yeah just as other people have said and as people have seen in the VICE video this places offers some amazing Vietnamese food. I had the pho with rare beef and it was really really good. Tasted fresh, very flavourful and fragrant, exactly what you expect out of great Vietnamese food. If your in the area or even if your not it's definitely worth it to Try it out.

Had grilled pork vietnamese noodle salad would of liked more noodle as didnt expect it to have alot of fancy lettuce & would of been better to have normal shredded lettce for the price you pay thats expensive. Also peanut crushed was too chunky Too much ice with vietnamese coffee Could of done with a refill didnt get money's worth for coffee
Kicky
Nice food lots of choices but pricey 😁😁

Enjoyed our meal! We got deep fried spring rolls, fried calamari, rare beef pho noodles and lemongrass beef vermicelli. Soup was really flavorful. Prices aren’t bad but reviews suggest there has been gradual increases. There is parking outside the restaurant.

This place is really tasty - highly recommend combination vermicelli, pho was really authentic and nice with extremely tender and fresh beef. Banh mi (lemongrass pork) was a bit of a let down - the meat was amazing but felt like it needed more flavour which could have been added with some fresh chili, pate (very sad to not have this), or by pickling the veges.

Amazing food. Went there to have our late lunch. Place was quite busy. Was welcomed by staff and taken to our tables. We saw one YouTube video so thought we should give it a try. Menu was big but very less options for only chicken eater. Not a fan of pork or beef or seafood. But we still managed to fix few dishes on the menu. Price was bit on higher side but I guess it is everywhere now. Food was overall good love their chilli paste. Chicken was bit sweeter but that’s how our taste buds are. Portion was was good enough for 2 people. Staff was good and helpful. Will visit again

The place seems to be run be Vietnamese which is a good sign. The young staff are generally polite and the food taste pretty good. The coffee is yum!

We stopped here for dinner before heading off for a road trip. I had been to the one in East Tamaki so I was hoping this one would be similar in quality. The menus looked identical.<br/>The coconut milkshake was delicious. Coconutty with sweetness from condensed milk. I then had the curry tofu with vegetables and that was really nice too. Crispy tofu and vegetables in a creamy, almost satay like curry sauce. It was one of the places where everyone eats when the food comes and the table becomes quiet.<br/>They did have quite a few parking spots outside the restaurant but there is also street parking if they are full. We came quite early so it was easy to get parking and a table. The parking was full when we left.

Love the combination seafood soup👌🏽

Amazing Vietnamese restaurant. Their Chicken Banh Mi is one of the best in Auckland. Their Pho, fried rice and all the other dishes including vegetarian dishes I’ve picked have been incredibly good. Must visit if you’re in Auckland.
NanaKo
Cheap and cheerful lunch place for decent viet food. Love the noodles here and always love the iced coffee, can be slightly on the strong side for those that can’t handle caffeine. <br/>My go to is always the raw beef and tribe soup noodle, perfect for winter lunch!
Nanogirl Anoopdev Shona
One of the best Vietnamese food in Otahuhu area. Good size of portion, clean place and tasty food.

Freaking amazing. Loved the curry and the sandwich. All very fresh and well cooked. Flavours are so authentic and well balanced. The best Vietnamese restaurant I’ve been to and a lot more better than Hassan.

Finally trying this place for the first time from the many reviews I’ve heard. It was delicious but wasn’t overwhelmingly great. Portions are generous, pho was good and there was a heap of rice noodles, broth was full of flavour but kinda sweet to my liking. I love their Iced coffees, strong but a little too sweet. My favorite would be the grilled lemongrass pork chops, love the tenderness of the meat, very crispy, soft and juicy! Overall experience 3/5

Hands down my favourite vietnamese restaurant to go to. I always get take out and I am never disappointed. Highly recommend

Quick and great service.

This is my favourite Vietnamese rice noodle restaurant.<br/>I love thier pork chop rice noodle and spring rolls.<br/><br/>I tried Banh xeo for the first time and it was much better than Hansan.

One of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants. Fast cheap and easy. Have been coming here for many years. Never disappoints and I always leave satisfied. Very good highly recommended

Came out south especially to try this place from the many reviews i’ve heard. It was good but wasnt amazing. The portions are generous and the service was fast & friendly. The banh/bun was great. Crispy bread with generous meat &veg. The pho was good, there was a heap of rice noodle (much more than other viet places), but the lemongrass chicken that came with it was rather small in comparison with the pho & could come with a stronger lemongrass flavour? The viet iced coffee was very good, strong but a bit too sweet for my liking. The other food we had were pretty good but again, wasnt overwhelmingly great. <br/>Will we come here again? Yeah maybe but only if we’re in the area.
Cynthia
Food - average (I travelled from north as I heard this place is good but not worth - so many better places in north)<br/>Service - Bad (Had to wait 20minutes to get my food when the restaurant was half empty. Someone who ordered after me got their food first)<br/>Overall - average

Delicious spring rolls (the fried and the Vegetarian summer rolls) and sauce. The pho is why I always come here! Tasty pho and egg noodles. The broth is full of flavour. The lemongrass chicken is my favourite. I would always choose that. <br/>So yes, you gotta 'try it out' 😂

I didn't understand when my friends say they're going all the way to Otahuhu just to get a bowl of rice noodle soup until a couple days a go when I first tried it here. I got a rare beef & beef tendom rice noodle soup. I was only used to vietnamese rice noodle soup from Hansan and Pho bien but the ones here are the real authentic ones. Broth tastes way deeper, beef is tender and the tendons are chewy !
Jilly
Try It Out has a really authentic Vietnamese taste that would make you come back for more or to try the other dishes they have on offer. Great value for money.
Yuri
Hands down to the best Pho in Auckland.<br/>Can’t stop eating till last piece of soup is gone.<br/>I’m so addicted to their Pho, seriously!<br/>Their vegetarian summer rolls are really amazing too.<br/>Big portions, good prices, quick serving.<br/><br/><br/>Always wanting to come back.<br/>

We ordered a Jackfruit Milkshake, Lychee Milkshake, Wonton Rice Noodle Soup, and Chicken Rice Noodle Soup.<br/><br/>Service was quick so we didn’t have to wait long for our food at all even though we came on a Saturday night.<br/><br/>The two milkshakes were delicious, refreshing and a delight to find on the menu as these two flavours aren’t that common in NZ.<br/><br/>The noodles were delicious, both soup flavours were deep and hearty, the wontons were big and juicy, and the chicken was soft and tender.<br/><br/>A simple, quick but delicious meal.

Good taste of Vietnamese food.. i ordered traditional pho with raw beef and grilled pork for Denny Setiawan - all the food are really nice. Love it

Decicious vietnamese food. We come to this place regularly in lunch break. My favor order is rare beef rice noodle. I can taste the beef is fresh and the soup is quite yummy. Recommend to everyone for lunch. But the price is not very friendly to my wallet. If you can have any lunch special then you will get my full 5 stars rating.

The food is always good! One of the original Vietnamese restaurant. Must get the ice coffee and special beef pho noodle soup as shown in photo. I would recommend this place.
Alix
This is where we always go whenever we want to have Vietnamese food. There are a lot of choices in the menu and so far all the ones that I’ve tried are really good. Food here is cheap and with good serving size. Service is fast as well. They have parking in front of the restaurant which is good.
Sam Ross
We had been hyping this place for a while - and I can tell you it was worth it. For a first visit I would recommend keeping it simple with a humble rare beef noodle soup. Our friend who had been before one up’d us with an upgrade to chicken noodle soup, but be warned levels of chicken skin may vary. Having been to Vietnam before I can say that this is close to genuine, though I would have had it a little closer to boiling if I could make one change. The menu has over 100 absolutely classic Vietnamese dishes and don’t think you’re done with just the food. The drinks are something that really takes this place to the next level, I would recommend the coconut smoothie. Add an additional pot of tea to the table and you’ll be sufficiently hydrated. Will be back for the Bahn mi!!!
Rosina
i love the pho! <br/>been coming here since i was small and the food is always great.<br/>staff is also good and service is pretty fast. <br/>prices are alright
Andrew
Always great food. We travel all the way from the North Shore to eat here and normally order way more than we normally do because it's so yummy. Good food portions and the price is Ok.

Great Vietnamese restaurant. We have been here a couple of time and it’s one of our go to place for Vietnamese. Pho tasted great. Spring rolls were not bad either. Banh mi was pretty nice too. Reasonably priced as well.
Tommyzo
Great quality food. Noodle’s soup are so tasty that I can drink them all. But won’t get thirsty afterwards! Place is super clean and atmosphere is lovely. Very friendly services. Food comes quick even there are many people. Overall it is definitely worth driving from city.

Authentic Vietnamese cuisine. If you’re a regular at Hansan Restaurant then you’ll definitely love this one even more. <br/><br/>Food: We ordered their Bbq pork with rice, Combination Meat Egg Noodle, Lemongrass Chicken with Rice meal and Spring rolls. Reasonable prices for their serving sizes. All had really rich and authentic flavours unlike other restaurants where you could only taste msg. Each rice meal comes with sauce and small bowl of soup.<br/><br/>Ambiance: The place appeared slightly old but clean and tidy, it kind of gave us a vibe that we were at a local eatery in Vietnam.<br/><br/>Service: All our food were served in less than 15 mins. Really good customer service too! The waiter looked kinda puzzled after we placed our order and said it’s a bit too much for 2 people but hey at least he was honest 😂 <br/><br/><br/>Will definitely be back!

Worth the drive out from Auckland CBD. We read about this place online and decided to try it out! Ordered a nice combination of Vietnamese favourites and everything was so flavoursome, fresh and delicious. Just one critique though - one of the staff asked if he could take our sauces while we were still eating. He could've waited the 5 minutes before cleaning up, especially as we had come way before closing time.

It's a very busy restaurant especially on weekends. It's a must visit place I passed by Otahuhu every time. For my partner and me, here is our favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Auckland. Very nice owner and authentic Vietnamese food!
LuNa The TuNa
I LOVE PHO! they have the best pho in Auckland. Definitely no msg, i can drink all the pho soup and don't feel thirsty afterwards. Service nice and friendly too

This place is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants I have been to in Auckland. Their food tastes authentic and are fairly priced. Always happy to go back for their beef pho.

Probably the best Vietnamese I’ve eaten in Auckland. The pho broth has so much more flavour when compared to other Vietnamese places I’ve tried here. The spring rolls are a great side too
Bonnie Hu
Best Pho in Auckland! Been here for a while and every time we have rare beef pho, lemongrass pork banh mi and iced white coffee. Truly the BEST!! (I find the Otahuhu one is better flavour and more consistent than their Burswood restaurant) Worth driving all the way from town to Otahu just to eat pho 👌🏼

Only based on bahn mi, service and price atm but will sure be back to smash through the menu . Bahn mi was delicious. The bread was so crisp and fresh and the fillings were tasty. Service was fast and staff were friendly. Price was reasonable and size was decent. Can’t wait to return 👍👍
Big Cheese
Really do not see what all the fuss is about , had a few things off the menu after reading good reviews but it’s really average at best . I love Vietnamese food but just couldn’t dig this one .
O
First time eating here as i wanted to try something new. Summer rolls and spring rolls were nice. The soup was good too i wish it was more hot tho but will def be back to try more dishes. Staff were friendly and welcoming
Analia Hedley
A little average really. Had soup which was very underwhelming especially given the hefty $16 price tag. Not sure if these are just Auckland prices but pales in comparison to a soup I had for the same price in Tauranga yesterday. Used to be a frequent stop but I think I'll let this one go

This place has been one of my family’s go to restaurant for years, but unfortunately has gotten more expensive over the years. I will forever love their wonton egg noodle soup, and their Chinese fried bread on the weekends. I couldn’t give them a 5, as I cant help but compare them to their good ol days when their rice noodles weren’t so soft and short. Broth is either hit or miss, but absolutely delicious on their good days.<br/>Top pics, deep fried squid, “bread”, and yeung chow fried rice.
Breadzania
I used to love this place but recent visit has changed my mind. We ordered quite a lot of food and the prices has definitely gone up. 18? For a bowl of noodles!! The Banh mi does not have pate in it and also the vegetables are not pickled enough. There's a lot of meat though.<br/>The chicken pho tasted sour and my son refused to eat it. Normally pho is his favourite. The drinks were still amazing. But food wise the standards have dropped. For the price, I'll rather dine in the city . I have no idea why that eatlitfood guy rate this place so highly.
Natasha Watson
Went here after hearing many good things. Authentic vibe with a large menu. Establishment is looking a bit run down but don’t let that fool you, the food is really good. I tried the lemongrass chicken banh mi, the bread was lovely and fresh as were the fillings, not too much pate taste though. I also got the squid Vietnamese salad, which was quite tasty. This place is definitely worth a try.
Ghetto Reviews - Str8 Up G
FACT: PRICE HAS GONE UP, AVERAGE ABOUT $15 AND UP FOR A MAIN. PORTION IS STILL THE SAME SIZE IF NOT SLIGHTLY SMALLER. SOUP BROTH IS NOT AS GOOD AS IT WAS BEFORE, BLAND AND WATERED DOWN. THE HANSAN BRANCH IN NEW MARKET COULD PROBABLY BEAT THIS ONE. 2009 VS 2019 CHALLENGE FAILED.<br/>
Honey Daniels
We used to eat here often but have not been back in awhile as it was always out of the way .. purposely drove here today and the food standard has dropped, price has increased ,portion has decreased . Quite sad to see that once restaurants get more famous , they always fail to keep their standards or portions up .. won’t be back for a long time
Andrean
Nice food and Nothing that I can fault about the food but it is just my preference that I will prefer the one across the road in Otahuhu :p<br/>Peace...

Been here so many times can’t believe I haven’t written a review. The thing I like about this place it doesn’t show pretentiousness by ways of looks but the food is absolutely amazing in ways of home cooked and as I call it, ‘humble’ food. Nothing fancy about the names, just simple ingredients to make the best kinds of food. <br/><br/>The food here is as authentic Vietnamese you can get. So delicious. My favourites would be the bánh mì and banh cha gio. Very delicious and the banh cha gio is awesome on a summers day. Best bánh mì I’ve had out of all I’ve tried (and I’ve had a lot of bánh mì) this is probably the closest you can get to tasting like the ones from Vietnam. I’ve also had the chicken wings and spring roll and banh xeo as well as the traffic light drink. The banh xeo is also very yum.<br/><br/>Food comes out very quickly and no muck around. <br/><br/>Highly recommend.
Anthony Huynh
Great food, you know it's good when you see Vietnamese people eating their food. Really reminds me of home. Service is good and their com suon is a must eat.
Judy Marshall
We love going to this place. Parking can be a bit of an issue at busy times. The menu has lots to choose from. We ordered the seafood noodles, beef fried rice, spring rolls, fried ribs, bok choy and some tofu. Noodles were soft and tofu was yum!
Ashleen
The baddest place to come out and get a real authentic vietnamese meal! I literally bypass all the other Vietnamese restaurants in my suburb or more local suburbs because I know this place be serving up consistency for a long long time! Came here several years ago as a kid and it remains a favourite. The ambience of the place is not brilliant but you definitely overlook this because the food really compensates for it. Staff quite attentive and helpful, portions are decent when you compare that with price. Will definitely be back.
Leonie
Rare beef noodle soup is delicious. Also recommend the grilled pork sausage skewer and the coconut milkshake. As we are regulars here that is my holy trinity. Service is great. And very clean space too. Very well priced and you get great portion sizes
Brendon Ton
One of the Better Vietnamese Restaurants I’ve been too, this place is one of the OG place I used to go to since 2005 - I always get the Com Suon dish (Rice and Pork) my Favourite :) <br/><br/><br/>
Jordan
Service was awesome and delivery was really quick. All proportions were big and we were very happy in that department. Food taste and quality wasn’t the best considering we had heard good things about the place. <br/><br/>My iced coffee was tasty but had more ice than liquid. 5/10<br/><br/>Lemongrass chicken vermicelli was a solid 8/10 and was good value considering the price. <br/><br/>Prawn and pork pancake was very average and I wouldn’t order again 5/10<br/><br/>Beef and lemongrass salad was tasty but quite pricey. Proportion was big and full of flavour. 7.5/10. <br/><br/><br/>
Tom
The hype is all worth it. I’ve been going to this place for years and never have I ever been disappointed. Food is very well priced, tasty and so speedy. Thanks guys 👌🏽

Rare beef pho is the way to go here. Amazing service delicious food every time! Highly recommend for anyone who wants great Vietnamese food at a moderate price.

I love Vietnamese food. And i never been to this place until last month. I always got take away food from try it out restaurant by my boyfriend. And last month we go to watching movie in botany down so we stop to have dinner at here. They food very tasteful real Vietnamese food. I like they salad and steamed fish.

This is the best most authentic pho I've had in Auckland yet. Definitely will be be back. Parking can be tricky at busy times and don't expect friendly customer service but I personally didn't mind because the pho is great and served very quickly.
Rosanne Choy
Came in with my family tonight to celebrate father's day a night earlier. We ordered the seafood noodles, beef pho, special noodles, beef fried rice, spring rolls, fried ribs, pork chop on rice, bok choy and some tofu. Portions were super filling. Pho broth was real rich and beef was tender. Easily the best pho I've tasted. Noodle texture was soft. Tofu was delicious. Would absolutely come back again.
Marcus Lau
Had dinner at this restaurant. There was a huge variety of authentic Vietnamese foods to choose from the menu.<br/><br/>We ordered lemongrass chicken vermicelli (bun ga xa) and special rice (com suon dac biet). Both tasted pretty average.<br/><br/>I love the murals on the wall, they look gorgeous! The restaurant was brightly lit, spacious, fairly clean and neat.<br/><br/>Food & Beverage : 6/10<br/>Service : 6/10<br/>Price : 6/10<br/>Ambience : 7/10
Tracey
Homely restaurant simple decor but the food is great and quick. Our go-to Vietnamese haunt. Can’t go past the spring rolls and the combination vermicelli salad. Noticed prices have increased but would still come here.
Cindyavocado
Lemon grass chicken is very nicely flavoured and goes well with the dipping sauces. You should order a lot of it because of how easy it is to eat.
I_like_pickles
Parking can be a tad difficult to find during peak meal times. The place is quite busy. The cutlery, sauces and water is self service.<br/><br/>Service is quick and the food is served equally as fast. The Bun Bo Hue was tasty with a bit of a spicy kick to the soup. However it looked nothing like the photo and I found it to be rather small. There was hardly any noodles in it. Rather disappointed in the lack of noodles for a noodle dish. At $15, the small portion didn't seem worth it. So for this dish I give it a 2.5/5.<br/><br/>The spring rolls on vermicelli salad was OK. The spring rolls were crispy and the dressing was OK. Not the best but not the worse I've had. It was OK.<br/><br/>

28 June 2018, lunch take away,<br/>Outside door has a decorated water Fall.<br/>Inside is just a big hall, the staff is friendly.<br/>Husband order a pork chop on rice,<br/>I ordered prawns and pineapples fried rice, unexpectedly taste delicious.<br/>Deserve another visit.<br/>23 March 2019, lunch,<br/>I order a seafood rice noodles,<br/>My husband order a remove grass pork chop on rice and dried fruit, pearl barley and seaweeds drink.<br/>Is full of Vietnam savoury.

Been here twice now and both were happy with the flavour of the food, speed of the service, and reasonable price. <br/><br/>Best place for a bowl of warm pho in the middle of wet Auckland weather. We tried number of different dishes and pho broth definitely the highlight. I quite like their dry noodle too. We would prefer the vermicilli or rice noddle compared to the egg noodle. A range selection of vietamese drink are another bonus. <br/><br/>Restaurant is spacious and relatively clean. <br/>
Ni Luong
Been coming here since a very young age . Love it. Full of fellow Vietnamese people all the time so you can be reassured this is authentic food !
Golden
Authentic Viet food. Regularly drive 30-35 minutes out from home to come and eat. Most of the time I order the raw beef pho with the spring roll entree. Ice white coffee is a must if you love viet coffee. Food gets served quickly. Interior of restaurant isn't the cleanest but personally i'm more keen on the food than anything else

Average service + average food. <br/><br/>For the location and area the place is so over priced the food is pretty average for the amount they’re charging each main dish ranges $20+ now this would be ok if the plates were a good size but they’re so small, the food is defintly tasty, we came here becoz they were placed 19th on the urban eat list but most probly won’t come back sorry not for the price we paid $150<br/>For 4 people no deserts that’s a dish each, 1 entree, rice per person that’s a lot of money for 4 people. 4 ice tea which was mostly made of ice. <br/><br/>The dishes all came out one by one very slowly the rice came last which I found odd coz we needed it with our mains. <br/><br/>Over all an ok visit but yeah wouldn’t recommend not for that price and amount of food. I’ve visited a lot of Vietnamese restaurants and I know what a good standard is and should be. <br/><br/>Sorry I’f this offends anyone I see they’re popular with a lot of other people this is just my honest opinion.

My friend decided to take me to this place while we were on our way to Auckland CBD. The food here is amazing and light tasting, it was my first time tasting pho and after this place, I haven't found anything as tasty. The chicken that came with it was crispy but a little dry, seemed a bit overcooked but flavour was there. The spring rolls were amazing, and the waiter told us to try it the authentic way by wrapping it in lettuce before dipping it into the sauce, it was also really good. Service was alright, it was a bit difficult to understand his accent but with hand gestures, everything turned out fine. I would definitely recommend to others!
Miura Elikana
The food here is full of flavour, I would actually recommend the vermicelli with lemon chicken, it has a more fresh taste, crisp and wholesome. The service is prompt, friendly and efficient. I think the price is a little more than surrounding Vietnamese eateries however the food is still great.
Nia Tupouniua
Tried this place out for an early lunch because Sam Woos is closed on Mondays but my friend and I wanted squid. Vietnam Cafe didn't have squid so this was across the road. I really should've checked to see what this place is popular for than it wouldn't have wasted our time and money here and we could've just ordered soup.<br/>What would've only cost us $50-$60 at Sam Woos cost us over $90. Spring rolls were ok. Calamari was small and chewy and over priced with no seasoning. Vermecelli combination salad was probably the best dish we had. Cashew chicken was bland. I can't remember the rest but all I know is that you should only really come here for soup😂😂
Mary Underwood
I love this place. have been several times now and you can't fault the service. never have to wait long between service and delivery of food.<br/>partner had the pho tonight with beef and pork sausage. the broth tasted perfect..I went for the chili pork with vegetables. not too hot but tasty non the less.
Namkool
Really great food and super authentic!! Portions are large but good quality too. I'd recommend making the drive down south for this for sure.

Always my local favourite. Lucky for me, I work close by. Not many places in Auckland offer beef tripe with their pho. Try it out also has the option of round over flat rice noodles with small added charge. I always enjoy the flavour of their beef pho. Good portion size with the prawn rolls.
Japo Domingo
The food is always good and they keep the place clean. The staff is not that friendly but its ok.<br/><br/>I recommend the beef stew and the lemon grass porkchops.
Grace N Latoa
I was very disappointed with our experience here and maybe because all the great reviews i read i was expecting a whole lot more then what we got? Service 2/5 as expected, but you should know your dish numbers. Food 2/5 we ordered loads of items... from chicken wings, summer roll, pork skewers, shredded pork with vermicelli and coconut,2 x pancakes, whole snapper, squid, veges, pork & peanut, lemongrass chicken on vermicelli, try it out soup with vermicelli & meat combination with vermicelli... (the tastiest dish we had was the squid) I was expecting flavourful food and didn’t get much. Considering different items we all ordered they all seemed to be missing some kick or flavour. Portion sizes were smaller then what we are use to & found some of the items dry compared to vietnamese we have had. I am sorry but we won’t be back again.
🌺Sindy🌺
We had always wanted to try this place out and so glad we chose too! We were greeted with such friendly staff. They handed us a menu each and left us to decide what we wanted before returning a few minutes later to take our order. Ordered a few appetisers before our mains. Everything was delicious!! Lovely to have such great friendly service as well!! We will definitely be going back again!! Highly recommend!!

The food tastes fine, but pricey compared to the quality. Good dessert. Staff are not friendly. Not a good experience then. May come back for take away dessert only.
Amandalheron
Don't "Try it Out"...<br/> Dining in must be much better then takeaway.<br/>Lemongrass Chicken Vermicelli is pretty good, however decided to try the Chicken Salad '(takeaway) was charged $25 and couldn't even finish half due to a strange soapy taste. Really disappointed firstly by price then by taste. I am by no means a fussy eater either.
Mel
Good quality food and I enjoyed having lunch here. It’s a bit pricy (depending what you order) but it’s well worth it as I left feeling really full and satisfied!! Staff are awesome as well! Definitely recommend to others!!

Amazing food for great prices. Best Vietnamese food I’ve had in a while to be honest. Quick efficient service as well. Definitely worth a visit. I would definitely recommend any of their pho dishes!

Terrific range of really fresh flavourful food in a very clean and spacious environment - albeit lacking a tad in character.  Also very well price and good service.  If you are out this way then it's worth a visit.
Wilson Shum
Their pho is ok, but the vermicelli and pork are below par for me...  Prices are a bit high for a small bowl of noodles.  I think spring rolls are the safest to order, but that is to say for all vietnamese restaurant.
Try_something_new
The best try it out of all branches! Ordered: beef rice noodle soup and combination rice noodle soup. The beef soup is a classic. If you love that sweet/salty pho flavour you will love this dish! Combination has some seafood, some beef and pork. Soup was a classic meat base. Overall: very good price if you are after a big bowl of soup noodles.

3/5 Taste<br/>2.5/5 Display <br/>4/5 Quantity <br/>2/5 Customer Service <br/><br/>Overated? Not so sure but I'm not going there again.<br/><br/>4.1 on Zomato is pretty high and it make you want to "try it out" <br/>I dont know.. food wasnt really my type, air was so humid there wasnt too many people but service was slow. <br/>What I really didn't like was that they didnt have cold water only warm water tap and sold cold water seperatly. Other vienamese restaurants have bottled cold water refrigerated and some even serve iced tea for free. <br/>

One of our favourite spots to visit and the only place that we go now for Vietnamese food. The service is quick and friendly. Our go to dishes are the Pho beef soup, deep fried spring rolls, deep fried squid, lemongrass chicken and pork. We haven't ventured out of these meals yet because they are continuously good.

AMBIANCE<br/>Cute little quaint place in otahuhu, a good space. The decor is very common in these types of places, old fashioned but comfy.                                                              <br/>                                                           FOOD<br/>The price of the food I felt was over priced for this area, also their are other vietnamese outlets close close by with the same food, larger portions and at a cheaper price. The portion size was good for me though, it felt like a normal size portion just with a bigger price tag. The soup had great flavour and the brand of noodle they used was lovely, I really enjoyed this dish. Great southern style Pho noodle! The spring rolls were also good and the pork on rice was as expected. Good food, good flavours just a bit more expensive. <br/><br/>                                                           SERVICE<br/>Service was good, they were very attentive and the communication was great.

My favourite Vietnamese restaurant! I have had the Chicken Pho and curry chicken, wonton soup, the beef vermicelli. squid, spring rolls, chicken with fresh vegetable and all I can say everything is fresh, clean and delicious!
Nortessa Montgomerie
I visited last night and had a great experience, I would have given it a 5 but the squid wasn't as good and fresh as other Vietnamese restaurants.<br/><br/>I ordered squid<br/>Spring rolls (slightly more expensive then Sam Woo's, but larger in size and more flavorful, dipping sauce was also good.<br/>Special 'Try It Out Pho' - Delicious and huge portion, fresh sprouts and sauces to add.<br/><br/>Place was clean and service very friendly, I also bought 2 cold beers and it totaled at approx $43.<br/><br/>Great value.

One of the best asian restaurant in Auckland<br/>Our family loves to eat here because their food is just really so delicious<br/>My favorites here are the combination fried rice, spring roll, and battered squid you can never go wrong with those three, I have yet to try other food from their menu as they really have a very wide selection in their menu<br/>Service is also quick!<br/>You might just have some difficulty in parking during weekends as there is a high volume of people coming here<br/><br/>If you are in the southern Auckland area give this restaurant a try!
Aimee.
$14 for a huge bowl of freshly made pho. Quite a reasonable price for such a large generous serving. The quality of this pho is great. Fresh meat and lots of it.
Kirsten
Craving Vietnamese food, so decided to "Try It Out"! Ordered the Rare Beef & Beef Flank Pho, and friend ordered the Beef and Veges on Rice. The pho was so good, the rice noodles were thin and smooth. The broth was just right; not too salty at all. I kept having spponfuls of the broth, super authentic! Keen to try their spring rolls next time and lemongrass pork/chicken!

We decided to TRY IT OUT!<br/><br/>We ordered Summer Rolls to start which were great. Excellent flavours and perfect dipping sauce. <br/><br/>We then ordered Lemongrass Chicken Vermicelli (top right in photo) and Pho Ga (bottom left in photo). <br/><br/>The Lemongrass Chicken Vermicelli was very tasty. It was a delight; fresh & healthy. Felt like I was treating my body like the temple it is.<br/><br/>The Pho Ga was okay for NZ Vietnamese food. The broth wasn’t quite as tasty as the real deal found in Vietnam. But then again, I haven’t found anything as good as real Vietnamese Pho in NZ anyway (which makes me cry pretty much every day). <br/><br/>Ambiance was what we expected, very basic, cheap and cheerful place that seems to attract many customers. <br/><br/>Overall, good experience!!
David Wright
Had spring rolls, pho ga, pho bo vien, hu tieu/mi ga xa, and banh mi.<br/><br/>Pros: Quite authentic, good banh mi, free parking<br/><br/>Cons: more expensive than other local Vietnamese places<br/><br/>Pretty good Vietnamese food, first time I had pho the broth was amazing, the second time it was quite lackluster in comparison. Their Banh mi is quite good, probably my favourite thing from them.<br/><br/>Very good Vietnamese if you don't mind paying a little bit more than average.
Steve Hall
Recently went to Vietnam and enjoyed the food, so trying a few more places around auckland.<br/>Had the Summer Rolls, Spring rolls, 2 of the breads off the counter and the Caramelised pork belly with eggs.  Was all good :)  good service, good food and will go back and try the Beef Pho next time

Been here countless times and always order rare beef noodles soup. It’s not the best but it’s still better than a lot of Vietnamese Pho I had in NZ over the years. The broth is clear and a teensy bit salty, which is how it should be. The price is quite cheap for such a large portion. The menu is big so there is a variety of things for you to choose from. Service is fast too. I think this is a good place for a hearty Vietnamese meal.
Rawinia Fagamalo
Really good place! It was packed when we were there but service was fast and efficient! Loved the pork fried rice and lemongrass pork chops on vermicelli! Very much prefer this place over the other Viet cafes in Otahuhu
Daniel
Been here a few times with friends. <br/><br/>The egg noodle soups aren't bad, they have some nice strong flavour. <br/><br/>The lemon grass chicken with rice isn't great tho. I perfer Hansans much more. <br/><br/>The banh mi is pretty tasty. <br/><br/>Traffic light drink is average. <br/><br/>Overall it's not too bad. A decent place to get some Vietnamese food.

First time here on Friday. Very popular place. The kitchen served the food for a table of 8 within ten minutes of order. It was pretty fast. My order was Lemongrass Chicken Vermicelli because I felt like something dry not soggy to eat. A common dish could not go wrong. Big portion and filled up my belly for the afternoon. Colleagues orderd the special beef. Will definitely go for that next time.
Jeffie
Came in for lunch and had the prawn & pineapple fried rice. It came out fast, hot and delicious. Service and ambience is pretty standard. Will be back to try more of the menu.

A must pl to try when in Auckland- This is the best pl out south for Vietnamese - don't be fooled by the outside or plain interior- the food is fantastic👌🏽
Real Foodie
My favorite Vietnamese place in Auckland. Offers the best raw Beef Pho and the Fried Chicken is crispy outside and juicy inside. Have tried both south and east Auckland branch, amazed me every single time. Wish they could open one on the shore.
Viv Goo
They have a great variety of food and drinks on their menu to choose from. We tried a bit of everything, including some drinks, and all of them have reached my expectation. Speedy service, relaxing atmosphere, well worth to "try it out".
Khaleesi
Came here to check out vegan options which are limited to about 3 dishes, ordered Tofu and seasonal vegetables and this dish definitely exceeded my expectations. Tofu was crispy, vegetables were cooked nicely and overall nice flavour. Price is on the high end at $18 for this dish. Restaurant felt clean and staff were very friendly and helpful.

This is without a doubt my favourite Vietnamese in Auckland. The only things that stopped me from giving it 5/5, is that the restaurant itself and bathrooms could be a little cleaner (and nicer) and some of the dishes, especially the sizzling plates lean towards the pricey side. Also the dishes with vermicelli was quite dry.<br/><br/>Pretty much every dish I've tried here tastes amazing! The sizzling Satay Chicken had the most flavoursome satay sauce I've tasted, and there was a huge amount of both chicken and vegetables. It was honestly the nicest satay chicken, when it came out I thought I wouldn't possibly eat it all (its so big) but it was so delicious I left nothing on my plate. The spring rolls are awesome aswell, super crunchy with lots of filling. <br/><br/>The coconut milkshake is my personal highlight of this place! Its so nice and creamy, with a strong coconut taste which I love. The lychee milkshake is nice aswell, but maybe a little sweet. <br/><br/>Unlike other Vietnamese restaurants I've been to, our waitor was very friendly, personable and easy to talk to. The food was amazing, this is definitely coming to be a regular for me!
Contessa
Second time been here (not my choice lol) <br/>Was ok ........not wow tbh looks to be a fav with regulars see heaps of family’s go here so they must be doing something good

Great spring rolls and spicy salt spare rib here is my favourite (not as charred as samwoo) in Otahuhu. Happy helpful good value service. Can't wait to 'try it out' again haha.
Aimee
Try it out! Definitely get the pork mushroom and tofu dish. It's so good!! The Fried spring rolls were so yummy, will be back for sure :) <br/><br/>Worth the drive.<br/>
Nomnomnom
I could live on those spring rolls! That's my thing I always look forward to! Service is great with some staff members. Gets abit busy there and that car park though, I'm sorry but majority of the customers cannot park! Always double parking when it's not needed. Love the fish tank too!
Kombie Stanley
Best vietnamese restaurant in Auckland!!!!! <br/>This restaurant is always busy - no matter which day and what time you go - this tells you something :)<br/>Our favorite is their lemongrass chicken on rice or rice noodle - both are great!!
Jayce Huynh
In the category of cheap and cheerful this place is pretty up there - especially if you want authentic non pretentious Vietnamese food. I have eaten here so so so many times and it has yet to fail my tastes buds. As the name suggests, try it out, you won't be disappointed.
Ricky Zhou
Best pho ever. The OG of pho in Auckland that always delivers consistant flavors and quality.<br/>Definitely not a "date" place or anything fancy. Zero fluffing. Just straight basics and they do it the best.
Annie Wilson
Best authentic Vietnamese food! Try their bread rolls they come out so fresh and warm. Also the raw beef noodle soup is always on point! I recommend this place for a cheap eat as it is delicious and super quick and efficient!
Grace
Came here yesterday for some pho, while it was okay I would have been happier had it had a bit more flavour. Portion size was good, however same can't be said for their 2 spring rolls for $9. Service was quick which was good

▪️Ambience: 3.5/5▪️<br/>The restaurant is tidy and relatively clean, the colour scheme are of white and brown hues with a fish tank I'm assuming is installed as a decorative feature. Interior could do with an upgrade however it's not enough to put you off from dining there. ▪️Customer Service: 4/5▪️<br/>The waiter who served our table was lovely and helpful. Popping by every half hour or so to see if we were ok. The restaurant had run out of my original order and he was very apologetic about it. He gave recommendations which he believed would be better than my original choice. He wasn't wrong. ▪️Food: 4.5/5▪️<br/>I usually order lemon grass chicken vermicelli and spring rolls when I come here but was recommended to try the beef option instead since they had run out of chicken. I definitely wasn't disappointed. It was just as delicious. The ratio of meat, veges and vermicelli is enough to compliment each other and the nuts add that little bit of texture to the meal. My spring rolls were crispy however it had a surimi after taste to it which was a tad gross. I personally hate the smell and taste of Surimi. ▪️Drinks&Menu Options: 4.5/5▪️<br/>There's a great selection of Vietnamese entrees, mains and hot dishes to choose from. They also have a drink and Vietnamese dessert menu. ▪️Overall: 4.5/5▪️<br/>This is one of my favourite South Auckland, Vietnamese restaurants. Their pho and vermicelli dishes are so yummy. Definitely a great place to dine for a decent meal under $20. My meal set me back $25 for a lemon grass beef vermicelli, 2x spring rolls and a lemon soda drink which you must order.

Food is always of a good quality and tastes really delicious and authentic. Only thing which could help is the service is a bit inconsistent.
Cameron Rowlands
Been here a few times and have gotten take away... Our local vietnamese fix. Nice and authentic, looks like it is run by a family. I normally get spring rolls, pho and green veges cooked in garlic.

SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS! <br/>THIS PLACE IS ROTTEN TO THE CORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<br/>DEFINITELY ONE OF THE WORST DINING EXPERIENCES IN LIFE.<br/>JUST DON'T GO, DON'T SAY I HAVEN'T WARNED YOU.<br/>OR YOU WILL REGRET FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE !

Been to try it out numerous times. It's very clean and tidy compared to most authentic Vietnamese restaurants out south. The springrolls are crispy however they're not authentic. There isn't enough mushroom or vermicelli in the springrolls and the fish sauce was very bland. I also tried the rare beef noodle soup and it was a bit of a let down. The noodles are nice however, they were over cooked and ended up being very soggy halfway through the meal. The soup was quite salty and the dish lacked fresh herbs like coriander or fresh Vietnamese mint. I definitely recommend try it out for their vermicelli dishes :)

Tried Vietnamese food for the first time at Try it Out in Otahuhu, south of Auckland.<br/>It's not a flash restaurant but the food seems quite promising. The prices are a little high for the ambience but you can blame it on it's popularity. <br/>The menu is vast so it's easier to pick the dishes highlighted in purple 💜<br/>We went there for a late lunch and would definitely go back to try a few other meal options. <br/>Must try: Lemongrass pork chops vermicelli $13.50 (pictured)<br/>Skip: Shaking beef & tomato fried rice $18<br/><br/><br/>#myauckland #myaucklandcity #aucklandcity #aucklandeats #food #lunch #vietnamesefood #visitauckland #asianfood #vietnam #nz #nzmustdo

I called in here on Friday 28 Oct 2016 11.45. Had summer rolls $6 and Pho Ga $13.50. The summer rolls were OK, no Vietnamese mint or carrot which would have made them more authentic and a hiddious sweet hoisen sauce - should be a fish and pennut sauce with these. The chicken soup was average, stock was nice but too much noddles and lacking green vegs, the place was quiet and stuffy and customer service was slow and I had to wait to pay. They could do with making a trip to Vietnam.
STRADS
I was told (by the staff at Try It Out, Burswood) to try the rice noodle rolls & Vietnamese ham, but they were again not available. Spring rolls were hot & crispy; special rice (with grilled pork chop, fried egg, prawn & chicken cake) was nice; lemongrass chicken rice noodles didn't have much taste of lemongrass. Compared to Try It Out at Burswood, the one at Otahuhu didn't appear as good.  (Food - 3/5; Service - 2.5/5; Ambience - 3/5)
Marita Huynh
My partner & I came there for our lunch today. We sat and waited for a while no one came take order even it was not busy hour, until we called them ( i am not sure if it is their restaurant style). We ordered one Special noodle soup and Lotus shoot salad with parwns & pork. The noodle soup was nice but the salad was different with the photo, no prawn cracker. When I asked them, they said it did not come with prawn cracker, I could eat somewhere else!! I explained that I had eaten here before and the menu photo also showed it. After checking they came back and said it had been changed!!!<br/>Personally, I think their food is ok but their customer service has problem!<br/>

If you live in and around the Otahuhu area, do try it out (pun intended). I absolutely love their bahn-mi, and for $7, it is great value for money. I know people have been raving about their pho.The broth was hearty, the portions were generous and all around a delicious meal. I personally felt the broth a bit fatty.  It was good pho...not great. But this place is definitely worth a visit for the price you pay. It must be on everyones cheap eats list!<br/> <br/><br/>P.S: The staff is super friendly and courteous
I'm Hungry
Large seating, decent food and quick(ish) service. I went here because Sam Woos was closed on a Monday and try it our has a nice parking spot right outside. I didn't mind the food here but the place was very dirty. There is a serious cleanliness issue here because of which I feel the quality of the food was not good too.

Otahuhu isn't a place I go to often, so I was surprised when a fellow foodie suggested Try It Out at Otahuhu.<br/><br/>'Authentic Viet food ' and 'Best Pho' were some of the phrases my foodie buddy used to convince me.<br/><br/>Cue me making the commitment to drive 20 minutes out, a set of high expectations, and me having my critique glasses on, ready to rage at the slightest mistake. <br/><br/>Gosh the food was amazing, in all my time eating Vietnamese food in New Zealand, Try it Out reminds me the most of my adventures in Hanoi.<br/><br/>The pho is phenomenal and authentic, and the drinks were tasty and sweet--we had the iced lemon and traffic light. We also had the spring roll salad and chicken leg with noodle soup. All our meals tasted fab, and I would highly recommend this place to anyone craving authentic Vietnamese food.<br/><br/>Showstopper: Pho. Come here and you don't need to go anywhere else again.<br/><br/>Overall Grade: A

Food is average, but what gives them a 1 star is their services. Sometimes I wait nearly 45 minutes just to have my dish served to me. They take my order, then disappear, other people walk in and order but get theirs before me. I ask them what's taking so long, they say they don't know and walk away and never return then I get a new waiter saying sorry. No this is not good enough! Make me wait nearly 50 minutes for food and still expect me to pay full price! Customer service is just very poor here, not only that the little old man seem evil towards men but towards ladies such as my girlfriend he seems very nice, what a little old prevert
Douglas Hoskin
The service was bad, the waiters did not even know english and my food didn't even taste nice. Dont ever come there and there were coach roaches all over my table and seat. The food was rotten a bit.
Taranjeet Kaur
Food is great but it's the service that needs an overhaul. Dined there few months ago and the food was great. I ordered chilli chicken that tasted awesome. But it took a long time for it to arrive. With the pricing the restaurant needs to carefully review the ambience too.

The best way to rate all the Vietnamese restaurants is via the Phos (beef rice noodle soups) and Try it Out - Otahuhu  branch is the best so far, their pho is  garnish correctly and  soup texture/body just rite for that hearty broth i.e not too salty, thick etc. My favorite out of the big 3 competitors in otahuhu so far of Vietnam Cafe and Sam Woo. Nice open, well lit, airy dining space too.<br/>And yes you must Try it Out to see what i mean, there's a couple more Viet cafes in central Auckland i still wanna try, will they be better? watch this space..

Try it Out is a nice spot for a simple cheap eats Vietnamese noodle meal. They do get packed on the weekends so keep that in mind. <br/><br/>To accompany your meal, they do have nice selection of drinks
Fereen
This place is not as clean as you'd like but the food is pretty tasty and you don't have to wait long. Staff are nice. We only had one issue where there was eggshells in my fried rice, nothing was done about it. Okay place if you want a cheap sit down meal

Awesome food and great service. <br/><br/>I love the enthusiasm of that old man there always ready to welcome customers and their food was great! <br/><br/>Will definitely come back for more!

I have been here few times and enjoyed each experience. We got there around 9.50 and they still managed to accommodate us without rushing us. Great food and good service. Good value for money

The place albeit not extravagant and posh-y looking, it is very tidy and clean. The place is clean like how my mom does it. Food is something to be excited about. I tried the lemongrass chicken and it is the way i imagined it. They dont skimp on rice either.

Had lunch here today. Been meaning to come for ages. On a quiet mid week day during the Xmas period all the restaurants in the area were empty. But this place was jam packed. From the outside it looks a little rough around the edges. But the food is amazing. The flavours are authentic. And the prices are very fair. Had spring rolls deep fried and beef Thai pho. The pho was the best I've had in Auckland. Full of subtle flavours. The meat was tender and delicious. Spring rolls were above average but not as memorable as the pho. I can see why this place is so busy. I totally recommend<br/>
Peepeeboy
The food was good but the service was disgusting. We had source spite over our hair and clothes while ordering but no apologies were received. We got takeaway for 5 people and asked for a container to put chilli in but they said they ran out. We asked if they could gave us any container so they gave us a used dirty one... We alerted the lady who we believe was the owner of this and all she did was rinsed it under the water and returned it to us still dirty. In stead of solving the problem, she explained to us over and over again how she has ran out of containers like we were some idiots who don't understand English. And guess what, turned out they had containers and she wanted us to pay for it... <br/><br/>I think 1 rating is even too high for this place. I don't recommend it to anyone. We were regular customers eating at least 5 times a month but won't be coming back after this incident.
Victoria
I liked it! Great menu, so much choice. All the food was really fresh but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go here (living city central). I would compare it to Hansan, but definitely earns it places on the top cheap eats lists.<br/><br/>Try the summer rolls when you go, the sauce, the portion sauce - all excellent!! The pho one of the better ones I've tried in Auckland, but not the best I've had. I like a bit of a stronger broth but I could tell it was cooked well, subtle layers of flavour. As with all Auckland Viet places I've tried - need more herbs on the side!
Ryan
Lots of choice on the menu and a decent dining experience. Definitely deserves a spot on the cheap eats list, all the dishes we ordered were enjoyed.<br/><br/>The combination vermicelli and pho had all the right elements, the fresh Spring rolls were generous with a good amount of mint inside and a delicious dipping sauce. The Longan shake was more like a iced drink but still tasty. I wouldn't say the food was worth venturing out of the city for (have had similar quality in the CBD) but it's still a great option for a cheap eat especially in a big/fussy group.
HJ
Try it out - well the name speaks for it self and it's worth visited. This place was pretty busy when we arrived at 6:30pm (it reminded us of a school cafeteria). We ordered the Tofu and seasonal vegetables and the Vegetarian chow mein. Our meals arrived hot and saucy, both were well portioned and very good. There was a slight delay with the food as expected during peak times and they needed a few reminders for some of the things we ordered. But we enjoyed watching Shrek on the TV they had. Service was pretty average and nothing to rave on about. Location is slightly out of the way but parking is easy right outside the restaurant.
Alexandrea Maxwell
Never lets you down, they make the best pho ever!! I have to write more than 140 words but that's what best sums it up. It's a 10/10 😁😁😊😊
SS
Oh the pho (rare beef noodle soup) here is to dieee pho ;-) see what i did there…<br/>On a serious note, the broth is perfectly seasoned and perfectly beefy. Probably one of the best I've had in auckland ahhhhhh <br/><br/>I also grabbed the usual deep friend spring rolls and summer rolls and both were exactly what you would want them to be. The restaurant’s decor and seating is humble and clean. <br/>I’d visit this branch a little more if the burswood one wasn’t so close… <br/><br/>Highly recommend if you’re around though!
Solarflare
My favourite Vietnamese restaurant - I go every couple of weeks. The spring rolls are amazing and the lemongrass chicken and beef salad are excellent. The sweet and sour is not particularly authentic but is wickedly delicious. I don't rate the pho however as the stock is not very well flavoured. Nice staff, good service.
Anji Banjo
Food flavourless & overpriced <br/><br/>Ice cream and fruit salid for dessert $7.50<br/><br/>Have exactly the same thing at home for free<br/>It's ice cream From a tub and fruit salid From a can presumably so why $7.50 at the stampede In papkura you could taste everything had been home made, ice cream, cakes bases etc and the cost was $12.50 and with good reason.. don't understand that <br/><br/>Ate here once for this reason. 😕

First impression is the place looks clean and tidy. The menu has a lots more variety to choose. The price might be little bit more expensive (like $1-$3) than the opposite restaurant<br/><br/>I ordered summer rolls which were alright but the highlight for me was hoisin dipping sauce.<br/><br/>Banh Mi (Vietnamese Stuffed Baguette) was really nice. It was in good size for the price. The stuff was some pate', some veg and Vietnamese pork sausage.<br/><br/>Combination egg noodle soup, this one was little bit let down for me. Nothing special about it. Lucky there was hoisin sauce. So I added it in the noodle to make it taste better. I can't wait to try more dishes from Try It Out!<br/><br/>2nd visit - one week after 1st one :p<br/>Since I had really good impression with Try It Out so it's not hard for me to go back again even though it's really far from where I live. This time I had combination vermicelli which is a really good combination of nem nuong, spring rolls, lemongrass pork chop and shredded pork. This is the first rest in Auckland that I saw Nem Nuong in the menu. Nem Nuong is one of my favorite Vietnamese food. Pork chop was really tender and tasty. Everything was good in a bowl and especially when you have hoisin sauce. <br/><br/>I also had traffic lights dessert. It was my first time but definitely not gonna be last time. It was really tasty with coconut milk and not too sweet. Such a good thing to end the meal. Try It Out has become my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Auckland!!

3rd time been here. Daughters shouted for fathers day. Was extremely busy and very lucky to get a table as we didnt book. One of the best Vietnamese Restaurants in Auckland. Despite being very busy service was still ok food very good as always. Just a bit hard to rate after Cazador last night. So can only give 4.
Nicola Grace
This place is always busy and always brilliant. It's hard to go wrong with the menu, but the Vietnamese Savoury Pancake with Pork and Prawn definitely warrants a drive to Otahuhu. The menu warns the pancake will take a little longer to hit your table than their other offerings while they cook it to crispy perfection. It's monstrous so could be shared between two with the addition of a side of veggies or similar. Like most authentic Asian eateries, the decor is far from ambient and the service isn't overly attentive, though this is largely due to the ratio of staff to dinners.
Nia T
First time eating here to celebrate my partners birthday. The decor is humble and warm. It was half packed when we got there so good timing on our part. Waiter was attentive and the service was outstanding. Waiting time between meals exceptionally short so kudos to them. Ordered summer rolls and spring rolls for entrée. Fresh, crisp, flavorful and not to mention - healthy. The side sauces were excellent addition. Only regret is we should've order 2 of each :-). For main we shared a plate of Grilled lemongrass pork and rice per person. This dish exceeded my expectations. Very flavorful and melt in your mouth tender pork pieces. I highly recommend this. For drinks we decided to try traffic light and the jelly/coconut drink. The tragic light drink is an eye opener solely because of the beans down the bottom. Who knew beans can make a drink 10 time better!! We decided the other drink lacks flavor. Needs more coconut. My partner was one happy birthday chappie which makes this first time visit an awesome experience.<br/>Will be back for more!!!

Been here a couple of times and the food here is cheap and delicious. The food does take a while to be served around rush hour time however they do serve food fast when it's a bit quiet. The staff is really friendly, greeting you as you come in. Definitely would go again.

CHEAP EATS ----- Well Im a super fan of Vietnamese food as some of you already know and because we were in the area we thought wed try out this joint.<br/><br/>So lets get started, service was a little slow, but once the food came out, I was a happy chappy. The Fried spring rolls were super tasty. Having a slight seafood taste these rolls were different, but none the less - still tasty. <br/><br/>The Beef Pho was electrically good! I managed to finish this large bowl of soup and totes enjoyed it.<br/><br/>The decor is humble. The staff were friendly. All in all this is a decent place and recommend.

Love this place. My favourites are the deep fried spring rolls, Vietnamese pancake, rare beef pho noodles, lemongrass pork chop, and the seafood chow fun. Service is fast and food is authentic Vietnamese. Desserts are a must try too.

Came here with a friend for an early lunch om a Wednesday around 11:30 - which I recommend to avoid the lunch rush hour. We were quick to be seated and then ordered food to share. We were given free hot teapot for drinks and the food came out very quickly. For an appetiser we got the summer rolls, which were the freshest rolls I've ever had, the softness of the rice paper and the crisp salad provided a nice texture and the nutty sauce that was provided with it was a great accompaniment. For mains we shared the seafood soup with rice noodles which was quite nice and had a good amount of seafood in it, and it also came with a side of bean sprouts to put in the soup. We also shared the lemongrass beef with vermicelli, which was a better dish out of the two mains, as it was full of flavour and had a tasty spicy vinegar sauce to go over the top. Everything together costed around $35, relatively cheap and great service. I definitely recommend this place and must come back to try more of their extensive menu!

Authentic Vietnamese restaurant. The guys love the beef noodle soup/pho but the lemongrass chicken vermicelli is my favourite.<br/><br/>It's becoming our usual since a few years back. The food is delish, but just so you know there is nothing fancy with this restaurant.<br/><br/>All I have to say is go and 'try it out'! :)

An authentic Vietnamese restaurant is so hard to come by these days and try it out nails it!! The food here has amazing flavours and you can't help but want more and more of it!!! I will definitely be coming back, if it wasn't so far away id be eating lunch here everyday!!

Mmmm, this has long been a really good authentic Vietnamese restaurant in South Auckland for over a decade! <br/> The family and I come here every so often to enjoy a quick and easy meal.<br/><br/> I got the Rare Beef Pho noodle and it's just as good as ever ☺️ the broth is flavourful, plenty of beef and plenty of noodles. Fresh lemon slice to squeeze into the broth and a good portion of bean sprouts!<br/><br/> We'll definitely be back for more! Clean restaurant and service is good. If you want to try Vietnamese cuisine, Try It Out is definitely a try! ☺️<br/>

A friend brought us there. The restaurant was spacious and heaps of car park. The best beef rice noodle I ever had in Auckland. We also loved their lemongrass grilled pork rice noodle. Highly recommended.

I am quite impressed with this Vietnamese restaurant. My Vietnamese friends took me here to eat "authentic" Vietnamese food because I've been on the hunt for what food in Vietnam would taste like! I've been here once before but the meal I ordered tasted alright! It was nothing special however to make me drive all the way across town for a meal. <br/><br/>Today we started off with a drink each: I got a grass jelly and coconut cream drink and so did Sophie. Erica got the traffic light drink which came with green jelly, red bean and green bean? Both tasted really good! <br/><br/>We also had deep fried spring rolls and vegetarian tofu spring rolls as well! The deep fried ones were delicious. One of the best deep fried spring rolls I've probably ever had. The restaurant was also quite busy around the time we came to eat (1:30pm) and our meals still came quite fast after our entrees. <br/><br/>I opted for the classic, pho tai — rare beef rice noodle soup! The beef comes uncooked but cooks in the soup broth while you're eating it anyway. The soup was super tasty and the noodles were authentic pho noodles! (according to my two Vietnamese friends anyway! haha). They were the best rice noodles I've had at any Vietnamese restaurant though. I would definitely get this dish again!<br/><br/>I didn't try any of the other mains, but Sophie and Erica loved their meals. We wanted to order multiple things off the menu but had to be slightly realistic as to how much we could actually eat! We were so so so satisfied after this meal, and I know for a fact that we are coming here again!!!! <br/><br/>Food was good, and the service wasn't bad! it definitely helped that one of us could communicate in Vietnamese!

Big portion really quick service, I love their there lemon grass pork so yummy. the portion is good. I love their spring rolls, the dipping sauce really compliments it. They had our orders wrong in 2 occasions though so make sure you really point out what you want. The staff are usually very welcoming, the atmosphere in the other hand is very bright, it make me feel like I'm in a school cafeteria but all in all the food is pretty awesome.

I went to try this place out (ha-ha) at lunchtime two Fridays ago but it was extremely busy. The person at the counter said the wait on takeaway orders would be 20 minutes (my lunch break is only 30!) so I went back the following Friday after 2pm. The crowds were much better after 2pm - plus I didn't have to scramble for parking! My colleague and I ordered spring rolls (2 for $5) the bahn mi (pork baguette, $7.50 each), Jack fruit milkshake and longan milkshakes ($5 each), and the creme caramel flan ($5). One thing we noted is that the prices are a bit high considering there are so many Viet places close by, however servings for the rice and noodle dishes looked big. The spring rolls were nice though fairly expensive for only two. Our sandwiches were amazing however. I've been struggling to find a place that sells bahn mi but Try It Out do a great job; very flavourful and crunchy. The only thing is they don't put in chilli even if you request it, which may be a pain if getting takeaway. The milkshakes didn't disappoint either; thick and not diluted - great for washing down spicy food if you dare to try the chilli as served on the tables. The creme caramel flan had good texture and a coffee syrup over the top. It was nice but not really caramel flavoured as I had expected. Overall, very good food. We had food envy seeing other people's dishes too, which probably means I'll be going back!

I have been a loyal customer for many years. This is my favourite go-to vietnamese restaurant to go, with family and friends. I always receive fast and friendly service by the staff and the food is authentic, full of flavour and the price is definitely affordable. I always enjoy my experience at this restaurant and recommend this place if you're looking for authentic vietnamese dining.

Went for lunch on a Thursday <br/>Quickly ordered but wanted to upsize one of the meals, so I asked how much it was;<br/>The waiter says he'll find out and disappears<br/><br/>Twenty minutes later, I go to check on the order as other tables who had arrived after us had already been served their meals.<br/><br/>The manager tells me no order had been placed and the waiter who took our order said he just forgot to place it, shrugged it off questioned and walked off. <br/><br/>Food is fine worth probably 3.5-4, but the service was atrocious which is responsible for the rating <br/>

Me and my family come here to treat ourselves, love the food and the people are very nice and friendly. Love there summer rolls and combinations. Highly recommend.

Love love love the spicy beef noodle soup. Always my go to menu choice. The service is good as well. One of the better Vietnamese places and by far the best in Otahuhu from what I've tried. <br/>

Very tasty vietnamese. Better than hansan IMHO. All the pho are top notch. The black coffee is something everyone should try. For those that have been to vietnam and had their coffee, the one in Try It Out will satisfy your memory. Place is not really flash but quite clean. My favourite is BE8 or pho dac biet.

This is the best Vietnamese restaurant in Auckland. They are always busy though so it's best to come earlier. Definitely recommend the half cooked and half raw beef pho!<br/><br/>For entree you have to order their pork & shrimps summer rolls and Vietnamese spring rolls. They are amazing!<br/><br/>For drinks, you need to try their grass jelly coconut drink!

Yum! The spring rolls and sausages make really tasty starters. My favourite dish is the combination vermicelli, which comes in a big bowl and a bowl of sauce to pour over. Combination fried rice is a generous serving. I'd not recommend their curry as the sauce is on the funny side.

Very friendly service and quite busy on a Sunday at lunchtime. We enjoyed the fried spring rolls, fried tofu with sweet chilli sauce (I managed to eat about half of it and took the rest home), and chicken pho. Everything was hot, tasty and plentiful, and the waiter happily brought us water with ice in it. <br/><br/>Overall we thought it was a good meal and reasonably priced.

Vietnamese food, why not? Let's go to try it out to try it out hah! The place has been here for quite a long time I guess? Since it looks a bit old~ the food was good, always love the beef noodle! The pancake?omelet? (Not sure) was nice too! Come and try it out!

So many Vietnamese restaurants in the same vicinity in Otahuhu, I remember these since I was little and use to always drive past on the way to the parents shop. <br/><br/>The first time I came here, I ordered a lemon grass chicken noodle soup - I wasn't a huge fan and it reminded me of curry paste, I had to confirm with the staff it was actually lemon grass chicken. It was fairly average and I don't recommend it to anyone. <br/><br/>I came back recently because Sam Woo was closed and a group of us all wanted Vietnamese food. My friend and I were ecstatic they had Crispy chicken on tomato rice and the chicken did not disappoint, it was a huge piece of chicken cut into smaller pieces. The rice was a bit old and hard but thankfully the dressing on the side helped soften it up, hopefully the rice will be a bit fresher next time we come. Yes, I fully recommend this dish.<br/><br/>I've had their Vietnamese Spring rolls - I'm not a huge fan of these particular ones as they are similar to most others I've had from the crispy skin that somehow gets stuck in your teeth... However; these have mushroom mixed in here and the price is a bit more expensive for only 2 pieces. Their summer rolls are much better than any other I've had though, and the sauce dip is even better!

Vietnamese food. MY FAVOURITE. <br/>I lived in Vietnam (HCM) for 12 years, so when it comes to addressing AUTHENTICITY for Viet food - defs not a problem! <br/><br/>Jack Dang & I decided to go on a viet food hunt cause we were craving for the most stupidest things. Like traditional Viet desserts and "BANH MI" aka Viet Sandwiches. I don't think anyone can understand nor express the excitement for this Viet sandwich we speak of. (Viets can relate cause back at home, it's on the every single corner of every street and it's soooo goooood !!)<br/><br/>Anywho. My flattie and I ended up ordering:<br/><br/>Banh Xeo:<br/>VN Pancake - filled with pork, shrimps & bean sprouts addressed with "Nuoc Cham" which is a combination of fish sauce, lime juice, water, sugar, chilli & garlic. Well-proportioned entrée. <br/><br/>Canh Chua:<br/>Which literally means - Sour Soup! <br/>It originates from the Mekong Delta region of Southern Vietnam and man, as yuck as it sounds, I miss this so much. It consist of fish, pineapples, tomatoes and other veggies like bean sprouts, okra in a tamarind flavoured broth. <br/><br/>Hu Tieu Nam Vang:<br/>Rice noodle soup with pork bones, pork sirloin, pork liver, ground pork, dried shrimp, quail eggs, dried squid, and chopped cilantro & scallions as garnish. Highly recommended if you like all the above. <br/><br/>Bo Luc Lac:<br/>Which literally means - Shaking Beef!<br/>Cubed beef wok tossed with black pepper, onions & red capsicum. The beef was extremely soft and well cooked. It went extremely well with the tomato rice too! <br/><br/>As for desserts-<br/><br/>Che 3 Mau - 3 coloured dessert / traffic lights:<br/>SO ON POINT! Must order! Must try!!! <br/>Red beans, mashed Mung bean, agar powder, pandas paste, crushed ice and coconut sauce. <br/><br/>Che Sam Bo Luong:<br/>Not very fond of this one, it literally took me 7 years to like it - and apparently the stuff in it is good for you skin (?) according to my step mother that is.. It has Dried logans, lotus seeds, thinly sliced SEAWEED (Uhh.....), pearl barley, water, sugar & crushed ice. It honestly tasted like what it was back at home, but still.. Haven't tasted in ages, and I still today - i dont like it! <br/><br/>After all that, we decided to be fatties & order 2 Banh Mis (takeaway) for brekkie in the morning! Not authentic, but it wasn't too shabby. Overall, I was really happy about the place and the service. The guy there was really helpful and funny! Would definitely come back for a Viet food binge again! <br/><br/>Cost us ~$88 for the 2 of us. <br/>Keep in mind - we did eat HEAPS. <br/>Food proportion was massive too. <br/>Maybe we're just fat. <br/><br/>"Khong co mot cho o Auckland ngon bang Vietnam. Ma minh nghi Try It Out gan nhu xac thuc. "

I was recommended to try it out by a friend and occasional eating companion.<br/>We arrived for an early lunch on a Wednesday, there were already about 8 or 10 diners and it was only 11.30am.<br/>After looking through the menu I ordered my standard dish of choice, the raw beef and tendon pho, my dining companions ordered the chicken curry rice noodle soup and the pork chop rice noodle soup.<br/>I had really been looking forward to this after some buildup but sadly I was disappointed.  The broth was not hugely intense in flavour (probably lacked a bit of salt), my rice noodles were overcooked (I like them with a little bite) and my first bite of tendon was hard and chewy in a not very enjoyable way (the rest of the tendon was soft as it should be).<br/>Maybe it was early, maybe they just had an off performance with our meal, I really wanted Try it Out to be the place I would happily cross town for.  Sadly it came up well short

2016 Update: this place is packed on the weekends at peak hours.  Still my favourite Vietnamese go-to, has the best Pho in Auckland.  Banh mi sandwich and rare beef pho are the business, as with pretty much all of the menu. The ice coffee is legit.

This place had been around for years and still busy, that explains everything! Best Vietnamese in town, simple, traditional and delicious! We order their rear beef pho, rice paper wrap, combination meng! Traffic light is our favourite drink. The spicy and sour seafood soup is our new favourite, get the large one which comes in a steam pot! The portion is so big, enough to share between 3-4 people. You can also request fish pot instead of seafood. The owner is also super friendly and helpful. Loves to chat!

Tried 5 dishes only one had good flavor but had more onions in it than chicken and paid $100 wish I had driven to dominion rd would have had tasty food for less than what I paid at try it out ..will never ever go back
Mike
Been here twice. Food both times was consistent. Decor is a bit of a disgrace and restaurant manager appears to be a hustler, I was also worried about the tranny hookers hanging around my car parked outside, but I'll let this past since we're in South Auckland. <br/><br/>Would return.

well i haven't ate here in so long my girlfriend at the time madd me try this place out i wasn't really in the mood for it but went along. any way it could do with a make over but for meit was fine the way it was. service was good every time even though english is thurr second language. now to the food i have tried a few things and all are good but my regular dish is i think its called stir fried lemon grass chicken i fell in love with the dish it hit all my tastebuds in the right spot. yum . try that dish out also i like the spring onion soup which is free you just have to ask. i cant wait to come back down and eat here again several times i might add lol hopefully he remembers me lol . the name speaks for itself TRY IT OUT !

We have eaten at Try It Out many many times so I thought I would add to their reviews. It's one of the older Vietnamese restaurants in Auckland and undoubtedly the best. Yes, the decor is very Orange and the TVs up on the walls do not create for great ambience. But the food is unsurpassable and that is what it is all about - possibly the best food in the world. The menu is huge just like the spicy salty prawns. Everything is good and each time we go we find another new favourite. The price is extremely reasonable. It is BYO. The staff are very helpful - not all of them have great English but everything about this place is authentic. If you want nice surroundings eat at PHO Saigon in the city, pay 4 times and amount and have very average food. Then Try It Out and see which one you go back to!

First visit &amp; impression was poor, not welcoming or friendly even if English is their 2nd language it was unprofessional.<br/>Didn't have to wait long for food which was good &amp; it is the only good comment.<br/>Ordered combination egg foo young, looked like a burnt pancake &amp; dry as the ingredients inside.<br/>Sizzling beef was ok but overcooked, arrived burnt.<br/>Chicken chow mein was average.<br/><br/>Facilities are run-down, needs a makeover and no toilet paper.<br/>I will not be returning any time soon.

have eaten here a number of times as our work is not far from here, the food is lovely. i have tried a number of things but i always go back to the same dish now as its my favorite. i love the vegetarian spring rolls and vm3 which is the chix dish with fresh veges and rice noodles this is my fav. not many good places in otahuhu to eat but this place rocks :)

Service here is excellent. English is obviously a second language to the waiter, but this barrier does not prevent all orders from being on time and correct!<br/><br/>Food is traditional, and served to the highest standard. I have tried, (i think) the Pho Tai, Com Ga Xa Ot, and Cha Gio, all of which were well prepared and are full of traditional vietnamese flavour, as it should!<br/><br/>This restaurant gets 5 stars - Would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is after a decent, delicious meal!

The Good:<br/>Great service, very happy staff and management. Clear menu with English translation and numbers separated into concise categories.<br/>Excellent food had from their on all 9 occasions so far.<br/>To date crispy chicken, Thai salad (chicken, beef, squid) have been favorites. Also their weird crushed ice desert with green jellies in it and coconut, tastes awesome!<br/>QUICK service, we usually eat out, takes 10-15min from phone order, order always correct.<br/>Needs improvement:<br/>This is really minor stuff so I don't think affects 5 star rating.<br/>The decor is dated but well cleaned. Everything is ORANGE! A bit intense. There is a nice fish display and a developing water feature as you walk in.
Kiwi Food Wonders
I headed here for lunch with some work colleagues, on the recommendation of a Vietnamese workmate. Hansan seems to get all the praise round here for Vietnamese, but you seriously need to Try this Out!<br/><br/>The decor leaves a little to be desired, as with most cheap & cheerful Asian places - perhaps a sliding scale exists between fluoro walls & amazing food?! But we got to watch Dr. Phil while we ate as well as enjoying the ambience of some tropical fish neighbors prowling their tank.<br/><br/>My vegetarian friend went for fried tofu & vegetables on crispy noodles - a huge portion in a delicious sauce, chicks-block with asparagus, zucchini & other veges. The other 2 of us went for that Vietnamese classic; beef pho. Often maligned, this version was fragrant, warming & filled with delightful hints of spices, aniseed & coriander. Served with bean sprouts & lemon wedges, again this was another large dish; I couldn't finish all the noodles for lunch, but I tried my best to drain the delicious broth.<br/><br/>We ordered vegetarian fresh spring rolls to start - the tofu was lovely & creamy with fresh hits of coriander. The peanutty, sweet dipping sauce was a great accompaniment.<br/><br/>Between the 3 of us we had a jackfruit milkshake, fresh lime & soda & a coconut milkshake. All chilled & sweet in contrast to the salt & spice in our food. I love Vietnamese drinks!<br/><br/>I haven't been to Vietnam, but I imagine this is pretty close to authentic. I'm definitely heading back to try out more deliciousness from their super-reasonably priced menu. Maybe not the tripe though!<br/><br/>If you liked this review, check out more like it at: http://kiwifoodwonders.com

I had been desolate about my seemingly futile hunt for the perfect soothing bowl of phở, and nuanced Vietnamese food in Auckland. In a stroke of luck, within a fortnight, I’ve managed to stumble my way to both branches of Try It Out Vietnamese Restaurant. <br/><br/>The Otahuhu restaurant is the original site, and even though I’m sure the décor has not been updated since painted concrete blocks were in fashion, it is still packed everyday. The service is fast and efficient, and the food rolls out at quick knots. The newly opened East Tamaki branch is a modern space, and has a more extensive menu. They also play Luke Nguyen's Vietnam dvd on a loop, so if you get bored, you can get a surreptitious masterclass from the darling of Vietnamese cookery. <br/><br/>For those who crave the ultimate Indochine sandwich bánh mì, you can only get this at the East Tamaki restaurant. I’m addicted to this bread roll made with crispy baguette and filled with pork belly and paté, julienned pickled carrots and cucumber and lashings of herbaceous coriander. I could eat this for lunch everyday.<br/><br/>We had the traditional appetisers, gỏi cuốn, on the menu as steamed prawn roll(two) and chả giò, Vietnamese spring roll (two). Both tasted fresh and full of flavour. <br/><br/>Another appetiser that I love is the bánh xèo, Vietnamese pancake, which masquerades as an omelette but is actually a turmeric-coloured rice pancake filled with pork belly, prawns and bean sprouts. Utterly addictive. <br/><br/>The test of all Vietnamese eateries is their interpretation of phở, or beef noodle soup. The phở here is good enough to satisfy my craving, with succulent paper-thin rare beef slices and your choice of offal (I typically refuse tripe, but somehow it works in phở) in a fragrant, savoury broth(beef version, tripe and special version). <br/><br/>The special combination thin rice noodle is great if you want to try a range of different meats. <br/><br/>The only thing that lets it down is the jackfruit milk shake, which could be a lot smoother. The lychee milk shake tastes better, but still needs work. The East Tamaki branch also has a wide range of desserts, which you can select from the chiller.<br/><br/>Try It Out is a favourite of my Cambodian sis-in-law (can't argue with an expert) and my go-to place for reasonably priced, quick and delicious Vietnamese food. I only wish it was a lot closer to where I live.<br/><br/>http://easyfoodhacks.blogspot.in/2012/08/try-it-out-vietnamese-restaurant.html
