Review Chaska - Otahuhu

Fine lunch with Indian friends! This was highly recommended by a colleague to taste and have an experience of authentic Indian cuisine. Indeed, did not fail us. Place is awesome, very innovative. The Front of house has offered free dessert which was a bum, forgot the name - small circles and sweet. They are accommodating and aware of people’s tolerance towards spicy food hence they would ask you upon ordering. Serving is huge, good for two adults. All in all a nice place to have an Indian food. Highly recommended 👍 Came back again for a shoutout lunch from a colleague.

Nice and pleasant Indian restaurant for the plant based lovers. The decoration is great and creative. Curry was delicious, I chose option 2 with two curries, salad and bread for $10. It was quiet during lunch time, that’s why I enjoyed even more. Service is courteous and fast. Worth coming again !

I love the food and service😊. I had ordered catering and they delivered it on time and more food than ordered quantity. Uncle is very generous to give extra papad and salad without asking. I would highly recommend. Thank you again uncle ji and all the staff. Worth the money.

Chaska is a very good indian restaurant where you can enjoy some authentic taste. I guess its a family operated buisness and all the staff were very attentive and helpful. The interior is well architectured with paintings, light hangs and all sorts of stuff. We ordered some channa battura along with some paneer and onion pakkora. None of the items disappointed and everything was well presented. Thank you and will come back for more. Came back for more, tried the thaly meal and its great. Masala coffee was nice too .

I love palak paneer with a garlic naan. The butter chicken hot is very nice. A bit pricey but worth it 👍

This Indian restaurant is the middle of Otahuhu township. The facade of the shop is a bit boring but when you go inside, murals of Indian heritage and pictures hanging on the wall will excite you. The food also nice. We ordered chicken tikka masala and buttered chicken. The samosa is a must try too. All in all Indian Chaska Restaurant is a must try. They also accept Zomato gold.

The taste is so authentic when it comes to good food. It is pocket friendly as this place isn’t too expensive. You will see a huge menu and trust me their Chaska special thali and Amritsari Thali is the best deals.

What a wonderful experience… food with homie feeling… uncle was so humble and generous… they served food with heart…1000000% recommend.. taste was superb

Decent to good depending on what you order. Good and courteous service. I went during early lunch time so that might have been a factor I don't know. A few office professionals grabbing lunch on the go and having there. Do recommend but go with moderate expectations .

They have such authentic food here and really loved the fact that they have different types of samosas and puffs rather than the usual potato ones. The lunch menu here is pretty light on the pocket as well.

This is the Best place for home cooked Indian comfort food. I absolutely love their buttery amritsari naan and crispy, spicy samosa chaat. And the mango lassi reminds me of home. Will definitely visit them again after the lockdown.

Very chirpy themed indian restaurant in the hustle bustle of otahuhu. Unfortunately for me it did not meet the mark on being authentic. For reasons (understandable) restaurants modify their traditional dishes to cater to a wider audience. For this one, the chickpeas were sweet in both dishes. And the amritsari kulcha was nowhere close to its sounding name. It was more of a stuffed naan.<br/><br/>Dissapointed:(<br/>The search continues.

The food is amazing🔥 fast friendly service and the homemade chicken curry is highly recommended.

They should note down that they only provide curries for Zomato gold. Also the meat to sauce ratio was unfair. There wasn't enough meat.<br/>Wouldn't actually go again.

Place was nice and clean. Food was inexpensive and decently tasty. We had the thali with 3 curries and masala dosa all of which was nice. Will come back again in the future
Suprizzle Fo Shizzle
The decor is modern and vibrant but the food is traditional and tastes homemade. Delicious meat and vegetarian options with street food that is often hard to find in South Auckland. Come here often and am never disappointed!

This is one of the best by far wow <br/>So much to eat and the whole meal was delicious right from the curries .. naan and rice . It had a nice astmophere too <br/>Comes highly recommended

Really enjoyed my meal here at Chaska. The dining area is so colourful and spacious. They have a variety of Indian sweets in their cabinet as well as Vege thali options and samosas.<br/><br/>The waitress was friendly and helpful and food was served quickly and piping hot. I really enjoyed their curries which were tasty and thick. The sauces weren't watery like some other places that serve curry.<br/><br/>We had the lamb korma, butter chicken, attic naan and rice. The portion sizes of the curries aren't big but the quality of it is sooooooo good. There aren't many meat pieces but the pieces are quality cuts of well cooked and tender meat.<br/><br/>I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. Thank you Chaska.

We very much enjoyed our first visit to Chaska on Tuesday afternoon, hidden behind some cool artwork in Otahuhu, its beautiful decor & warm clean environment was very welcoming. Food was great & loved the service by our polite & lovely waiter! He did an excellent job accomodating us and making sure we were ok! <br/>Thank you Chaska, you guys have permanent customers💯

Both food and service were excellent! The chole bhature were delicious. All of their parathas are also delectable! Must try this place for authentic Indian food 😃

Food was good. The staff was weird. She asked me where I was from ? Excuse me? I’ve been NZ for five years by now never got anyone asked me like that before any proper conversation. Then she asked where is my BF from ? Didn’t get the point. <br/>Also I pay for the rice and nan without Zomato discount of course. But they told me even I couldn’t finish my food I was not allowed to take them home just because I used Zomato membership. <br/>I have no idea why they keep my leftover for what use. I didn’t meet any other restaurant have same requirement. <br/>I don’t think I will come back again. This experience made me uncomfortable. Thank you

It was second time we visited this place. We were denied food in our visit cuz their chef was on break. <br/>Second time, which was literally an hour ago, we were told we can only order a curries and naan bread with Zomato Gold. The girl had no idea what she was talking about and the rules. They have a huge menu and all you can order is curries with your gold membership. We were so annoyed as i called them before going and checked if we can order anything from the menu with Gold membership and the answer was yes.<br/><br/>This is some bad customer service.
Mike
Slooooow service. Only received 2 pieces of fish in our fish curry and we ordered two fish curries totally four pieces of fish ( each piece was the size of my thumb)...
Vinny
Shouldn’t be on Zomato gold as they know nothing about the rules .We came a long way to try their food but it ended up as an argument .They should learn about their products before putting it on Zomato Gold.Sorry but never going back .

We enjoyed our experience at Chaska. The ambiance is funky(the good kind!) with lots of color. They provided a wide variety of food choices and the food we ordered was amazing. The service was exceptional and we we're very well looked after. I would find myself there on a weekly basis if I lived closer. Will visit again for sure!

Aloo paratha and chilli paneer was great. Veg patty & samosa was good. Thali and papri chat was not nice. Loved the decor and ambience. Staff was very nice and service was quick. Parking right outside.

Always guaranteed a good curry. Good quality authentic vege thalis. Reminds me of my trip to India. Perfect for Friday treat. Quite spicy curries.

Very poor service and inconsistent product quality. Called the restaurant to place an order and was told it will take 20 minutes. Arrived at the restaurant after 20 minutes and was told will take further 5 minutes. Guess what received the food after 35 minutes. When reached home and checked the quality it was very poor. This happened 2nd time in last 6 weeks. Definitely management doesn’t care. <br/>

Dined in with our family of 4, we had butter chicken for the girls which they shared and still had leftovers. Fish madras for myself, fish was so tender and I don't usually order seafood but thought I'd try something new and I was not disappointed. And hubby had the paneer masala which he loved. We arrived near closing time on Saturday night but they still accommodated us, the food was authentic Indian cuisine which we would definitely recommend to others. The ambience made the experience that much more authentic with photos of India and deco's. They even have specials Monday to Wednesday nights so we will definitely be back

I become a feast beast for all the vege options especially the vege samosa for only $1.50 each! The new decor is so beautifully fresh and chill and happy and clean. Can't wait to return. Super friendly helpful service and great music.

Very disappointing takeaway meal on Wednesday evening. We ordered two medium vegetarian curries. Both had no spice and were very bland. We added own curry powder, chilli powder, salt and pepper and then they tasted ok - edible at least. The lamb kebabs we ordered for an entree were cold on the inside and had a weird after taste that could have been a bit off. We threw these away because we felt they were very undercooked or off and didn't want to risk getting sick.

Yum!! Having eaten my way across India i have been consistently dissapointed with the Indian food Auckland has to offer. Not here!! We had the delicious saagwala and chicken madras. Both so tasty and a cabinet of yummy sweets on offer also!! Best take out in Otahuhu that we've tried so far.

Been here in the past for their vegetarian dishes, was average and below, food didn't seem fresh and very small on the portion sizes. Hygiene didn't seem up to scratch aswell.

High price but low  quality of food, didn't get fresh food, lack cleaning and sitting arrangement was not so comfortable.
