Review Gorge - Otaki

Light Begets Light
Had a lovely time at Gorge, the food was delicious. Nice selection, but the menu placement was annoying, we lined up on a busy Saturday morning, not knowing where the menu was, only yo be told it was on the wall past the ordering counter. So we ended up having to line up twice. Suggest the management move the menu to near the entrance please and place them on counter also.

Nice little cafe on the back road around otaki. Very funky. I loved my pie and the chips were good too. Only a 4 as it didnt have much of an atmosphere and could have done with some heaters on. Ill try again 😀

Good atmosphere cafe and friendly staffs. A little pricey for their sandwiches, would be worth $19 if there was some side salad to help cut the richness.

We stopped in for morning tea on the way to the beach. Lovely food for adults, but barely anything that the kids would even look at. The space is quite a good warehouse conversion. It didn't hide it's nature, but felt warm and comforting within it.

Great find in Otaki! Serving People's Coffee - which they extracted well. The staff were super friendly, and accommodated vegan and gluten-free requirements without any fuss! Falafel wrap was amazing. Awesome stock of some speciality grocery items for sale.

Gorge is perfect - it achieves exactly what it sets out to do: Great burgers encased in a milk bun that's melt in the mouth, handcut fries perfectly crisp and garnished with rosemary salt, and coffees that are smooth and strong (for those in the know, my guess is the beans maybe Supreme). And then there's the vibe - relaxed semi industrial with classic old school reggae and dub making the whole place super chill. Now I'm wondering whether I should post this review... I like the place so much I kinda don't want to share it.....🤔

A beautiful way to start the day, on the way to the kite festival!! Food and service was incredible! Very accommodating to my sons dietaries, which was such a relief!! Cant wait to come back and bring the rest of the family, thank you again!! Would highly recommend this place!

Great place yo stop, rest and have a chat. It's off the beaten path and there's a really good vibe here; so well worth a visit.

Excellent food. Interesting takes on brunch standards. Cafe itself looks to be in a refurbished workshop. Music was 60's rocksteady. Service was competent. Odd selection of Asian and European goods for sale, as much for decoration as anything else.
