Review Rayz On The Bay - Paihia

Nice establishment for a cold drink and food on the Paihia waterfront. Both inside and outside seating areas. Great out in the sun kicking back and relaxing. Friendly staff.

I came here on New Years Eve 2021/2022 and the staff bend over backwards to look after me and provided Excellent Service. The meal was huge and delicious. Thank you

After a successful fishing charter in Paihia with Blue Sea Charters, the recommendation by skipper Andrew wad to take the fillets fish to Rayz on the Bay where they will cook it up for you. Rays charge $10 per fillet, and add what ever else you want I.e. chips for extra. They cook your fish what ever style; we had ours battered and it was awesome. Highly recommended, would have been 5 stars of it wasn't for the bar girl who seemed liked she didn't want to be there and wasn't prepared to be too helpful.

Lovely lady/owner (I think). Made us feel very welcome and we had a nice chat, with cold beer. Great price too. Watch out for the old fella though, seems to be playing the miserable old guy attitude a bit too well. Lighten up bro! You have a lovely place and a beautiful dog. Things could be much worse.

Me and my truck needed a break and i rehydrated for an hour nice heaters and nice cold beer! Pitty i didn't park within the lines lol.

What a great spot - the coffee was great, generous tasty food portions, awesome location across road from beach. Lovely folk running the place supported by Charlie the dog - couldn't fault it.

Beautiful seaside location with views straight over the bay. Beers on tap and cool wines at reasonable prices, served by friendly and helpful staff. Limited menu but nicely done - perfect place for our first NZ fish and chips.

What a great place to eat & relax. After hearing some fellow diners complain about their fish & chips, then complain about their replacement meal, we were nervous...but should not have been. The food was outstanding, the service and staff equally so. The place had only recently reopened and with new owners. We were visiting from the Majestic Princess and the owner conceded a handful more staff would have been ideal, as the team on duty were really under the pump. Thanks to Liam and Julia for being so charming and handling cranky tourists while keeping so cool, we could see how efficient you were, what a great asset. The fish & chips were delicious, as was the pork belly & calamari for starters. I highly recommend Rayz if you get the chance!

Had an excellent meal last night. Delicious food entertaining hosts. I am coeliac and was pleased with the understanding displayed by the host. I have not had any problems of cross contamination. Will definitely be back.

I have used the bar as my local on several trips up here over the years. Im back up here again and they are closing early,5.30 is due winter. No dinner being served. Recently changed hands and tidied up. Excellent position overlooking the bay and Russell township. Well priced pub meals and real chilled glass english pints.

Awesome lication overlooking the wate. Great place to have drinks. They make a great Chicken burgers salad & wicked fries. Great home made pies and baking new to Rayz now.
