First off the staff was friendly and fun and our wonderful server Leoni was helpful, professional and a great personality. My husband's steak was perfectly cooked with a nice flavor and he really liked the sauce they gave in the side. I had the butternut squash risotto with prosciutto and sage and it was very good. We ended our meal with the Triple Sorbet with wild berries and it too was very flavorful . They also have a nice selection of wine and then having a bay view just added to the whole experience. We ate on the large outside deck. Absolutely gorgeous setting. Easily the nicest spot in Paihia to eat on a sunny spring day! Kitchen was accommodating and made us breakfast even though breakfast service had just ended. Food was fine, large portions including generous amount of smoked salmon on the salmon hash. The only downside really was the outside sofas looked inviting but were wet.
Also there were fish in the enormous tank inside which is quite cool.

I had a delightful dining experience with the Contiki group at Zane's Grey's Restaurant!
I must say it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. My choice for the evening was the classic Fish and Chips. It was impeccably prepared with a crispy crust. Try saying that three times in a row. The fish was accompanied by some well seasoned fries. Each bite was a delightful combination of crunch and tenderness.
What truly elevated the dining experience was the staff. A special mention to the Belgian lad Koen who was as joyful as he was friendly.
In addition to the outstanding food and service, the ambiance of the restaurant was warm and inviting. The cozy atmosphere, coupled with attentive staff, created a welcoming environment that enhanced the overall enjoyment of the evening.
Overall, my visit to Zane Grey's Restaurant left me thoroughly impressed, thanks to the tasty Fish and Chips and the exceptional service provided by Koen. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

My guest asked another waitress for some bread, as she is accustomed to having this with her food in Switzerland but the response was that the kitchen was too busy for a slice of bread. This was the only disappointment of an otherwise outstanding dining experience
A great way to treat ourselves after our sailing adventures in the Bay of Islands! Fantastic staff - We requested a seat by the aquarium, and had a lot of fun watching the fish swim by. Amazing food, our server Lisa helped suggest great dishes & a wine pairing from near one of the islands we had visited earlier in the day - very special. Enjoyed reading about the history at the front of the menu also. Thanks team!
This restaurant is one of my favourite views to eat at, the seating tables goes right out onto the water and is so beautiful for brunch & lunch! At night the fairy lights also make it a stunning dinner spot too. The menu has limited options but are all tasty
My wife and I called in for lunch after a mornings excursion after arriving at the bay on the QE - our waitress Leoni was absolutely terrific and made us feel really welcome and looked after all our needs - the food was terrific and very good value washed down with some of the house bubbles - the music 🎵 was very cool and gave a great vibe to the place - and finally the views are just to die for !
It was a wonderful experience. Our waiter Brooke made it easy to order and she was great with our 3 kids. The kids loved there desserts and looking at the fish tank was fun. Thanks again for a lovely dinner Brooke.
my wife and I went out for a sneaky brunch without the kids. William took great care of us. He quickly seated us (by the window with a view) in time for us to look at the menu and order before the 11:30 finish for breakfast. I had a rather complicated order and William really took the time to understand what I wanted and communicate that to the kitchen. Then the meal came out and it was exactly what I wanted and delicious too!

We've visited twice, once for a drink and again for a meal. Both times the staff have been really good and helpful. Great location with amazing sea views.
