Review Saigon Corner - Palmerston North

The noodle salad appeared enticing and tasty, especially the crispy roast pork. The pho broth has a robust beef flavor, but it's salty and should be served with more vegetables and herbs. The staff is cheerful and welcoming. I plan to return and sample more dishes.

It is our first time here and we have a marvellous time. Our food came out fast. We had Lemon Grass Beef with Noodles, Stir Fried Prawns with Rice and Salad and Vietnamese Coffee with Condensed Milk. They were all tasty and well seasoned. We will definitely come back again.

Had rice paper rolls with peanut sauce 11$ which were good Also had beef noodle soup. This was 19$. Not to my liking. And fried chicken which was really good. 8$. Good menu but beef noodle didn’t work out for me . Certainly worth a visit. Will try something different next time..

This is my fav vietnamese restaurant in town. I ordered roasted pork belly Banh Mi and beef noodle soup yesterday, it was crispy and delicious. Staffs are friendly and do as fast as they can. Well done team!.

Taste: 4/5 Price: $-$$ Portions: medium The pho was good, but super oily. The pana cotta dessert turned out to be a super sweet lychee drink with tiny cubes of panna cotta on top, a bit misrepresented.

Love the squid salad, so nice and generous, good prices and everything is always so fresh. Nice decor, good and fast service. Visited again recently after lockdown, the service was wonderful and complied to the covid-19 rules. I had the hot Vietnamese coffee to drink which was amazing! We got the chicken skewers appetizer, coconut crumbed prawns and popcorn chicken. And again I got the delicious squid salad. I bought the special duck curry home for my partners dinner and he also loved it! Will definitely be returning

Really delicious fresh Vietnamese food ! The spicy beef pho and fried squid salad ! Big portions and reasonable price. The viet ice coffee was average however. Gets busy during lunch and dinner

The presentation was great and the prices were fairly reasonable although probably on the expensive end for Palmerston North. I don't know if you'd call it authentic Vietnamese though. Did not appreciate the raw cabbage on my bun bo hue. Despite this a fresh place to eat with some healthyish dishes

Came here with my co-workers after a busy day and was welcomed with good customer service and served some top tier meals. I got the Spicy Beef Noodle soup and it was not only spicy but it was extremely tasty, we got some fried chicken, spring rolls and Bahn mi for starters and they were also flavourful and morish, the Sago Banana pudding was also good! Will take photos next time, because the food looks great. Thank you so so much to the front of staff and huge compliments to the chef! Needless to say I will definitely be back to this gem of a restaurant!

Great Bahmi roast pork with tangy salad. Chicken Curry and rice.

Friendly staff and food was served quickly. Chicken noodle soup had a flavourful broth and I appreciated the use of chicken thigh rather than breast. Spicy lemongrass beef and summer rolls were both not bad, but the duck curry disappointed as it was way too sweet and the pineapple further contributed to the overwhelming sweetness. Overall a good experience.

Absolutely loved the food the taste was yummmmm an the aromas coming from the food just made me want to dive right into it. The customer service was on point� would an will absolutely recommend this place to friends an family. I will definitely be coming back when I am next in town. Thank you ��

This place is seriously addictive. Food is excellent and a good value. The staff is personable and cheery. The kitchen is accommodating to dietary requirements. Good vegan options. Healthy, but flavourful and filling.

The food & staff are AWESOME! We try a different meal each time we go in & its quality is great. Highly recommend to everyone who hasn't tried Vietnamese food but want a challenge in trying new Asian cuisines!

Amazingly fast service! Meals came out within 5 - 10 mins which was great as we were in a bit of a rush. Pork belly salad and coconut chicken curry were beautiful, definitely coming back to try more!

Good from this friendly place is delicious! And healthy. They care about our environment in NZ and use biodegradable bags. Truly fantastic. Six stars!!!

Haven’t been liking the taste of much food lately but this was just beautiful. Loved the coconut lemongrass chicken curry. Could have had more.

Iv worked at Manawatu Locksmiths for several years now and iv seen a few businesses start up at these premises. But no one has put the effort that Vincent and Annie have put in to make there little restaurant thrive. They offer great tasting food at very reasonable prices great lunch and dinner varieties available with a great authentic coffee to start off the morning and iced coffee on those hot afternoons I will continue to visit. Thanks guys

I had no prior experience with Vietnamese food, but I think I'm hooked now. I literally can't stop thinking about the beef Pho, it's so delicious! I can have it everyday and wouldn't get tired of it :)

The pork noodle salad was absolutely scrumptious and those crispy pork sprink rolls took me right back to those my mum bought from the Vietnameselady down the road when I lived in France. Delicious!

Came here on a cold winter day and felt like something warm. Decided to go for the vegan coconut curry and it was the best decision I could ever make. Curry was not spicy at all (which is good for me) and full of flavoursome aroma! Best curry I’ve ever had. Came with a serving of jasmine rice as well. I also tried a tofu banh mi which was also very tasty - the baguette could have been a bit softer but other than, it was delicious!

Chicken salad and avocado rolls, dressing is a little over powering in both situations but other then that I thoroughly enjoy the meal. Would get it again

My go-to place for Vietnamese food in Palmerston North. Has quite authentic flavours, was still happy with my dish a few days after just coming back from Saigon (obviously nothing beats a local pho in Vietnam however).<br/>The pho and vietnamese noodle salads are my favourites. Bhan mi looks slightly overpriced for what they are, and the rice dishes (that I've yet to try) look quite reasonable.<br/><br/>The service is good, with staff approachable and accommodating. My only concern is with the hygiene - the self-service water has questionably cleaned cups - numerous times I've had to wipe mine vigorously to get rid of a mark that clearly was a lip (lipstick maybe?). The chopsticks and spoons are in a tin on the tables and look old and very used, with various stains from use.<br/><br/>Overall a good, well-priced Vietnamese restaurant that I'll visit from time to time with friends.<br/><br/>Food: 8/10<br/>Service: 4/10 (due to cutlery hygiene...)<br/>Ambience: 4/10<br/>Value for money: 8/10

I just tried their curry prawn fried rice (I think that's what it was called). It was the tastiest dish I've had in a while. Will definitely go back here!

So sad we didn’t stumble upon this gem sooner! We have been finding the palmy food scene super disappointing but these guys have made up for it! Fresh ingredients, authentic flavours, no excess grease or oil, super fast and friendly service. I live in Auckland but make a point of going to Saigon every time I’m in Palmy visiting family. Go at lunch time and you will see how popular it is! My favourite dish is the salt and pepper calamari salad, divine. Their banh mi is tasty and you can choose from their multiple options, not to mention very affordable. I can’t wait to come back again.

We dine here quite often and grab take out whenever we can. My wife is gluten free and very conscious about her diet. This restaurant does very well to consistently prepare their key dishes. Which are well balanced and seasoned and truly are authentic viet cuisine. We are always served high quality food that tastes fresh and amazing. We are so stoked that there is a ‘good’ Vietnamese restaurant here in Palmy. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.

Can't fault this place! It is one of my Palmy favourites and I always make a stop here when back in town.  This most recent visit I had Saigon style banh mi and a Vietnamese coffee.  Excellent food and coffee! Always such great service here too from the lovely staff.  I had major food envy when I was eating here, everyone around me had such yummy looking food! Highly recommend.

Their Banh Mi is tastier than some of the ones I actually had when I went to Vietnam! The waterfall chicken isn't bad either, would recommend

Saigon restaurant, have had 8 plus takeaway meals from here, great food and friendly owner, recommend chilli chicken, and pork spring type rolls, the duck dish from blackboard menu, and squid dishes are great, feedback over many visits. Small seating area as well. Fresh light Vietnamese flavours with interesting salad options with dishes 4.5 rating

I Been here few times, really enjoy the food, especially their blackboard menu, does kind of change daily. Also my daughter loves there beef noodle soup, she normally doesn't like beef, and all my family love their summer roll.

Cute and quirky restaurant/cafe Vietnamese style. I ordered Beef noodle soup (Pho Bo), tasted great but the portion is not enough for me! It would be nice if they had portion sizes available like Regular or Large. I definitely see myself as a regular. I hope to try others in their menu soon!

I come here all the time, and I'm never disappointed! <br/><br/>The vietnamese baguettes (banh mis') are my favourite, of all the banh mis' I have ever tried, this place definitely has the best. The staff are always really friendly, and the service is fast. I've only ever tried the spring rolls and the banh mis', but if these are anything to go by, i'm sure the rest is fantastic.

Had to try this out to see how it compared to the 'real deal' in Cambodia. Have to say we weren't disappointed. My husband had a spicy chicken special while I enjoyed a spicy bowl of Pho. They were finished off with an authentic glass of Vietnamese coffee

I love Vietnam,their culture and their food and would always crave for their baguettes,summer rolls and coffee. So,when I found this little gem,I was ecstatic! Had their vegetarian summer roll and a cup of hot coffee with condensed milk (love their little coffee filters). Good thing I came in a little early,because around 1230,the place started to fill up pretty fast. Will definitely come again and bring my friends for a little Vietnamese cuisine adventure!

Best Vietnamese in Palmerston North!! Been twice and have enjoyed the food and service each time. There is a great option of Bahn Mi which is rarely seen! I can't wait to try more of them!

Does my favourite Vietnamese dish (noodles salad) here and in what I think is the most authentic way compared to others in town. Generous serving quantity and good for value, would definitely come back! 😊 The only down side would be the seatings in the restaurant are slightly uncomfortable, but I like the style.

This place is pretty new. Came here on a Saturday on the Mother's Day weekend with my mum and my partner and friend.<br/><br/>Small little place. Excellent customer service. Could do with an extra staff or two I guess for lunch cover. The owners young daughter was at the counter. <br/><br/>Food itself was pretty good. I got the beef phò noodles and mum got their special of the day. They also offered a complimentary dessert for mums for Mother's Day which they had option between banana sago pudding or this cake... Which I can't remember what it's called. <br/><br/>The lady forgot to bring over my fish cake and Vietnamese mint summer rolls but she was super apologetic about it. <br/><br/>Overall, would definitely come back. But would be nice if they had a few more staff in for lunch (and dinner) and possibly a bigger location in the near future<br/>
