Our hostess was amazing, even though it was clear there should have been someone else rostered on for front of house which effected the timing of service. Luckily she saved the evening with her effort and fun approach. Food was fantastic too. Thanks team

A group of 5 of us went for dinner. We'd all had different dishes and 3 courses! None could fault the food! The service was wonderful! All meals were fresh, perfectly cooked and delicious! I would definitely eat here again and would also recommend to others!

Amazing restaurant nested in the shopping centre in summerhill. Amazing selection of well priced drinks and food. Have to highly recommend the curry burger! Awesomely friendly serving staff and bar staff as well.

Service is great and place is spacious and warm good menu food is delicious the rice served to me was undercooked. Other than that everything is great recommend for a visit.

Very nice place. Delicious coffee and food. The music was perfect too, they have speakers with great sound quality. Can be a little expensive here though.

Went there for a Sunday birthday brunch with a group of 14. We included 3 young kids. We were starting to wonder where the meals where when they arrived and the wait was worthwhile. They were superb. My wife and I had the sweet pancakes and they were the best I have had. The pancake was stuffed with bacon and and bananas. The kids menu was excellent value and they were able to with the kids requirement of gluten free and no diary. This is the first time we have been back since it changed ownership and were not disappointed. Will return. Recommended.

My husband and I went to Rendezvous for Brunch. It was absolutely fantastic. The Staff made us feel very welcome and our Scrambled Eggs with Bacon, accompanied by beautiful Lattes were amazing. We will be back to enjoy the wonderful hospitality.

A totally spontaneous treat turned out to be the best idea ever, fantastic food and service, it was a real guess as to how this would roll and it was awesome. Totally relaxed atmosphere and fabulous food. Very welcoming and easy. I’ll definitely be going back and taking all our guests. The lamb shanks... slurp!!

Had my partners birthday dinner there last night, Restaurant was not busy. Our server was friendly and attentive and the food was very good, al 4 dishes was faultless. Steak was cooked as we asked for it. All in all a very pleasamt evening.

Found the service excellent especially when we had a calamity with one of our friends. They were so thoughtful and caring. The meals were excellent and will come back. The only negative was that the disabled toilet was a long way from the other toilets. Thanks once again.

Nice chilled out place to go for a beer on a Sunday. Nice decor and there were lots of choices of where to sit when we were there as there were only a few people around. There is an outdoor area too, which would be nice on a sunny day. Two Export Golds were $17.50 which is pretty pricey for that particular beer I think. Staff were great.

Every time we've been here it's fantastic. Wait staff are very accommodating, friendly, and quick with the banter. Food is served promtly and is outstanding. Some of THE BEST steak in palmy. Even if you're celebrating an occasion they go out of their way to helo make it an enjoyable memory. I can't rave enough about this place. Compliments to the chef and team, every time

Had lunch with a friend on 4 Sept. We were greeted and seated promptly. The server didn't tell us about what variety of soup was on offer when she seated us, and came back later to do that. We had to wait to give our order while she told us about the vegetables that members of her family don't like. Not the sort of service I'd expect in a place with quite high prices. Another server replaced her, and she was much more professional. I was disappointed in the salmon pancake I ordered. The price had gone up, but the quality and portion size had both gone down compared to previous times I've had it. The pancake itself was nicely cooked, but there was little filling, and overall the dish was rather tasteless. The zingy pickled veg that used to come with it weren't there, so the whole thing was rather flat.  Definitely not worth $24. Maybe I would pay $9 for it? The choc torte was very good (flavour and texture), but too rich so I couldn't eat it all. Coffee was good.  Most things were good, but the disappointing main meal and unprofessional server overshadowed.

Have been in for lunch twice recently. In the past I rated this restaurant one of the best in Palmi. But more recently (change of owners?) I've found the service very lacking. Food still excellent.

Hi. After looking on line at the Menu for the Rendezvous, Palmerston North, I decided to book a table for a Sunday lunch for 5 adults, two small children.  I was quite impressed with the menu on line and the prices. However, on arrival, and sighting the menu, I found it to be quite different! and the prices much higher.  PLEASE UPDATE THE ONLINE MENU. The choice on the restaurant menu (for brunch)was poor, not much selection.  I had chosen off the online menu (more selection there) to have Pancakes., This was not to be - only savoury or sweet crepes - what a disappointment. The sweet crepe had a small amount of bacon, two pieces of banana, a couli over and a small portion of maple syrup. This was more expensive than what was quoted online menu, for the pancakes, which I could not have!.  So, for price and what I got, I was not impressed.  The eggs benedict was also more expensive in house than on line.  Surely, this information should be the same, wherever it is published.  Thanks.

Has been my go to fine dining restaurant for the last 3 years although recently went here for my sisters birthday on a Thursday night. The service was pretty good but the food has taken a sharp turn for the worst.  I understand the restaurant has changed hands. The pasta that I usually love to get was just disappointing, they have changed all the chicken meat to thigh meat probably to cut costs. The chicken tasted old, i had one piece of chicken and decided that if i had more i may get sick. The sauce of the pasta lacked depth and basically tasted like cream. Everything seemed a bit off. The staff were the best thing about the place eeverything else was terrible will not be going back.

Booked in as a table of seven and was able to successfully book our favourite table.  The staff were extremely friendly and helpful without being pushy which is a fantastic thing!  The food was extremely delicious as always.  I highly recommend the ice cream and the savoury pancake!  The staff were so extremely lovely that they even helped change a car tire!  Now that really is going above and beyond!  I highly recommend this completely wonderful place to everybody and anybody!

Went out for diner for a 'date night' wait wasn't that long gave us a chance talk before food came out :) <br/>I had the chicken pasta and it was amazing ? their mint chocolate cheesecake was so good ? highly recommend this place

Went there with family. Glad that it's kids friendly restaurant. Excellent kids menu, ordered chicken paste with juice, the paste was very tasty,. Icecream from kids menu looked very elegant. For us, medium rare steak very juicy. My prawn pasta was amazing! I absolutely love the sauce! The other thing I loved was $10 cocktail! Will definitely go there again if visiting palmy!

Have visited this place on a few occasions with my wife, seems to have gone downhill now there is a very tall man batty or something taken over. Have noticed several times him being overbearing, breathing down the staffs necks while they pour water. The poor girls hands were shaking and he actually yelled at one of them in full view of the customers. The wait times were longer than usual, had to wait around 50 minutes for a chicken pasta and had specifically asked the young male manager if there was going to be a wait, did not even get offered a complimentary drink or recommended to buy breads while we wait because we were starving. There were clear tables and the pompous man made us sit in the bar for over 15minutes. Very unimpressed with the service, will not be visiting again. <br/>

They have an excellent cocktail menu! On Thursdays they are all $10! I went here on a date and it created some excellent talking points. The Long Island Iced tea is served in a teapot in the style of the prohibition era. They have a delicious Appletini and the Rum sours is a treat. Service was great and they have a pool table in the bar. The restaurant has one of the best reputations around so I must go back and try the food soon!

We had one of the best meals we have had in a long time, and we dine out a lot. Salmon for me, and the steak for him. Both cooked to perfection, and with perfect flavouring. Staff were attentive, without being overbearing. Will be back again!

Tasty food but the chicken was dry and overcooked. Some others appeared to have been given Christmas food of ham and pudding but it was not on the menu and we were not offered it, so I don't know what was going on there.

Visited here last night and the waiter explained that they have a new menu out. The Chocolate pots de creme with macerated orange is my new obsession!! We got friendly attentive service and a really nice atmosphere. The wait time for food was good and they have a really tasty mocktail called Summer Colada. They also had a promotion going where kids eat for free on Tuesday Nights although I believe that only runs this month (November). Love this place, Ill be back for my next chocolate pot fix soon.

I went here for the first time recently and for me, this is the best Restaurant in the Manawatu. We had actually underestimated how popular this restaurant is and didn't book. They were completely full so I can recommend booking ahead. It didn't matter though as there is a nice big bar area with couches and a pool table so we had a drink and entertained ourselves until a table became available. <br/><br/>Our waitress made us feel really welcomed and considering how busy it was, the food didn't take long to come. I recommend the Fillet steak and we both agree that the Garlic bread was the best we've ever had!<br/><br/>Parking, atmosphere, nice bar, great food! This place has everything.

Have eaten here twice and had the same meal both times which was lovely. The atmosphere is pretty good and the wait times are not too bad. The big thing let down on both occasions was one particular staff member who was overbearing &amp; his waiting skills were atrocious - this included pushing past and leaning across people to clear the plates before others had even finished eating, forgetting the specials &amp; having to double check with the chef only to tell us it was then sold out when we made the order a couple minutes later &amp; when we asked for info on two types of wine were told ''one is expensive, one is cheap'' <br/>I would still go again

Atmosphere and service was nice, all of our meals were delicious! We will definitely be back.

Service is great, except they forget to offer you drinks when your empty.<br/>I've been here 3 times and my dinner mains have been average. I had the salmon which had no flavour, and veggies doused in sweet chilli sauce. Perhaps some focus on flavour and partnering meats with seasonings?<br/>The ambience and layout is great, it's just lacking in the flavour.

After reading reviews I am writing to say I have had several visits to Rendezvous as a preferred dining out experience. The atmosphere with fire lit and decor are relaxing and very pleasant. On my last visit just two weeks ago on a Sunday brunch didn't fail to impress. The food was perfect for that time of day, the staff were professional and polite and making sure we were happy and satisfied. My previous visits have been with staff again as a preferred place to dine. I Always leave very satisfied with every detail of this highly recommended restaurant.

I went to Rendezvous for my Birthday dinner, They went out of their way to give us the best service and food. I had a table of 18 and the breads came right out, I had 2 children there and they catered to them first for me making sure they had food and drinks and were happy which made my evening very pleasant! Mains were amazing, Chicken salad was fantastic, everyone had a range of the mains and were all very happy, salmon and pork both a hit and cooked beautifully! Waiter made sure we were happy and overall it was such a great night for all. If you want that special evening I recommend this restaurant, beautiful spot on the outskirts of town, Nice food, great staff. Happy customer!

Service was fine, the boy who served us was lovely in fact, however the restaurant remained understaffed and we ended up waiting over an hour and a half for our mains. I ordered a roast vege medley with cashew nuts, kumura chips and cucumber/red onion atop a coconut pilaf with vindaloo oil. I was hoping for something light and crispy, instead I received a massive plate of rice with four cashew nuts, a few roasted tomatoes and no more than three measly slices of red pepper, DOUSED in sweet chili sauce, which was never even mentioned in the menu. My sister's salmon was also drowning in the stuff. My mother tells me they have a new chef, I can't help but think this chef is in his or her's second year of uni, flatting for the first time! It is totally unacceptable to use sweet chili sauce in a $30+ dish. Please reserve the sweet chili sauce for wedges and or mini spring rolls/samosas. #nevergoingbackagain

I went there for my birthday dinner with my husband, after reading the reviews we thought it was going to be great. What a disappointment! When we arrived there was only 3 tables being served. The service was poor! We were waiting up to 20mins for drinks to arrive. We waited to be asked if we wanted to see a dessert menu, and then no-one came back to take our order! The food was average. My husband ordered the beef fillet and it was too salty. The chicken chorizo pasta was also average! Looked like someone couldn't be bothered to cut the onions up and just chucked it in the dish. We got to the counter to pay and was asked to wait. We spent the whole night waiting to be served. Again such a disappointment. Will not go back again!

I came with my husband for lunch on Sunday. We didn't book prior but they managed to accommodate us without problem. <br/>I order the chicken and chorizo Pasta and it was great! <br/>In my experience it was good food, nice place, friendly staff... Love it here!

We called in to Rendezvous after a long day of moving house. Although they had an event on (and we were looking a bit shabby!) they were happy to accommodate us at an outside table. The staff were very attentive and the food was fantastic. I had the chicken pasta and it was delicious. The sauce was lovely and it had lots of chicken in it. I'm looking forward to eating here again.<br/><br/>I had to update my review and add another star :) We have been back several times in the last few months and the food is always excellent, as is the service. I think the fact that the place always seems to be full every time we go there says it all! In my opinion, one of the best places to eat in Palmy.

We went out for dinner here for our anniversary. <br/>Loved the meals and the staff were really great. <br/>We rang beforehand to book a table but triple checked with the waitress that there would not be a wait of any sort and that they werent busy - she said no problem, no wait. So we booked a table for the night. <br/>Everything was great aside from the long wait for the meals - this would not have been a problem if we werent tired and exhausted and wanted a short meal out before hitting the hay! - We just would have appreciated the honesty if told there may be one.<br/>But still a very good restaurant and delicious meals. Great service, setting and all round one of the better in Palmerston North.

One of the best restaurants in Palmerston North. Best Eggs Benedict I have either had. Staff are just amazing. Highly recommend. A warm friendly atmosphere. Waiting time is miminal. Both my husband and I are regular customers at Rendezvous. Look forward to going there every Friday for a nice wine and beer after a long week.

We visited here with some pretty discerning (e.g. a bit food snobby!) European friends. The food - mains and desserts - were delicious, especially the beef fillet which was amazing. There was a bit of a wait for food to come out but worth it for top nosh.

In the past six months I have visited Rendezvous six times, twice for breakfast, once for lunch and twice for dinner. The other visit was a Saturday night when we hadn't booked and unfortunately couldn't get a table. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the food I have eaten at Rendezvous, especially the Angus Fillet Beef dinner main. My partner and I dine out regularly and both agree that this is the best beef you can get in Palmy. All of the other food that we've tried is delicious as well. The only disappointing thing with our most recent visit was that twice we had to go up to the bar to order more drinks when our glasses were empty. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere warm. Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Eaten there regularly and very nice experience, sometimes a little longer than one would expect to wait between courses but food makes up for this. It would be great to have more sofas for sitting and chatting for drinks before meals perhaps but suppose there is limited space. Some theme nights would be great or perhaps even a party. Keep up the great work team :) Looking forward to our next visit

A group of six of us went out for a meal on a weeknight to Rendezvous, probably about my 5th or 6th visit but I haven't reviewed the restaurant before. It is definitely one of the best restaurants in Palmerston North.<br/><br/>Our waiter was really friendly and professional. Entree of garlic bread topped with cheese and drizzled with balsamic delicious, lots of flavour. I ordered the chicken and chorizo salad (which is not on the menu as listed here, as the menu has changed for winter I think), which was delicious. Plenty of salad greens as well as meat, and the capsicum, mushroom, pine nuts, crispy noodles and other toppings were well-matched with each other. <br/><br/>There was a slight wait between finishing our mains and clearing of our plates, which I was surprised about as the restaurant was not full. However, once cleared and dessert was ordered it was brought out promptly. I didn't have dessert myself, but a hot chocolate that was sufficiently chocolate-y. Desserts that the others ordered looked delicious. <br/><br/>Rendezvous really does deliver when it comes to both food and hospitality, which is why I'll continue to go back there. The pricing of the food is on par with other restaurants around the city, and very reasonable for an enjoyable dining experience.

Awesome atmosphere. Feels really fancy but with good pricing and happy, smiling staff (so not snobby fancy!)<br/><br/>I would pay more for the big breakfast, its that good! My partner and I nearly go there every week. We recently tried it out for dinner and it was very good! Delicious food very very flavourful. Pretty standard pricing I think for restaraunt food these days.<br/><br/>Will continue to frequent Rendezvous, getting hungry just thinking about it! YUM.

Just updated my review after seeing the new ones above as I am not sure I believe all the reviews written for this place - looks like a few staff, friends and family are chipping in - its a good place but not really warrenting the gushing 5 star some reviews make it out to be. For example check up "Sarah" above who says she actually wants to pay MORE for the breakfast its that good!! lol what dribble - nobody would normally say that lol. Good try but you would be better just to up the quality a bit than manipulate the reviews.<br/><br/>this place has all the potential to be really good but was disappointed last time i went.<br/><br/>had a Sunday breakie and the tomato's were burnt on outside and stone cold in middle - I can do it like that myself guys, that's why I pay top dollar to dine with you. the waitress were on automatic - nothing really wrong but like they really didn't care if we where there or not.<br/><br/>have been there for lunch during the week before and it was always good but also been for Sunday lunch and it was very average<br/><br/>almost like great when boss is in and then steps down on weekends?

Popped in whilst driving past and had a Pinot Gris and their bar Wedges, friendly staff, great atmosphere, TV wasn't on so asked if was OK to put on to watch the rugby, no problems at all, their wedges was fantastic...will return to try out a main next time....

Had a vegeterian fritata other day. was not nice no taste at all. My flatmate make better than this at home. Very small proportion for price and tasteless. My friend had pasta hers was ok and average size. could not even fill myself. I heard OK things about it but it was very bad. table for 2 was extremely small. Although nice environment and toilets were very clean. Does not want to go back again. Not recommended.<br/><br/>Went their again to give it a go....this time we all had lovely yum meal. as usual the place n sitting was always nice. I was only disappointed with the food. Which I hav told them and they actually were good this time. Good meal we enjoyed it this time...cheers

Good food with excellent service, slightly on the high side price wise but worth it. Pity I cannot afford to eat here all week. Been here a few times for brunch. Really love the Scallops and Prawn brochettes...The eggs bennedict is also one of the best I have tasted..Great choice selection in menu and friendly staff.

One of Palmerston's best places to eat! Great service, delicious food &amp; nice wine list. Nice atmosphere &amp; good for big or small groups. Will go back time after time.

Had dinner there recently with a group of 28 people and there were three other large groups there. <br/>The service was excellent with no waiting at all. Good menu choices and the food is superb. <br/>Great ambience, lovely fire on a cold winters night.<br/>Will definitely be back!!
