Review Noodles 'n Dumplings - Palmerston North

Super fast, clean and easy to grab a table during my lunch break. I’ve tried three different dishes so far and all of them are delicious. Cheaper than others. Definitely recommend.

First time eating here and what a wonderful surprise. The lunch of Seafood noodle soup, Prawn wonton noodle soup and the most delicious dumplings was more than we could eat. We also had Bubble tea which was such a delight. If only they had their liquor license updated at the time of our lunch this experience would have been perfect. Service with a huge smile and clean pleasant surroundings make Noodles and Dumplings 'a must try' location and for us a 'must return'. Thank you Noodles and Dumplings! 🍜🧋

SO GOOD. Vegan and vegetarian dishes available. Exactly the kind of ambience you want for a the type of restaurant that it is. Free pu’er tea available at a tea station. Highly recommend the vegetarian dumplings, dry vegetarian hot pot, leek and egg pancakes, and scallion pancakes.

Plenty to eat for our group celebrating a Son's birthday. Dessert could've been better; but, we were certainly all very full when we left. No tea or coffee, but beer, wine and fizzy drinks available to purchase.

Absolutely wonderful! Dumplings are the best, so tasty and you get such a generous portion. We had the Beef fried noodles and Dong Bei Crispy Pork as well - was soooo delicious. Staff were so lovely, I highly recommend Noodles and Dumplings!

A large portion of my friends and I have had a long-standing relationship with Noodles 'N Dumplings. This means we've seen it change subtly over the 10+ years since it first opened, and seemingly go through a few owners and/or operators in that time. It's been a tenure of ups and downs in quality, with us being pleased with the food, and then sometimes let down, at times taking long breaks from returning due to being left dissatisfied. I am pleased to now say though, it seems as though we have seen a return to quality and new life breathed into the operation of the restaurant. Whilst the service never really lacked, the food quality is arguably as good or better than ever before. Highly recommend the fried dumplings, and especially the vege ones, even if you love meat dumplings (the pork will likely not disappoint at all) but they are amazing. Also the 'Hot Pot' meals, that come out in a stainless bowl elevated above a long-buring fuel to keep the meal piping hot for a long time, again special mention to the vege option again, but any will iekly be as good as appetizing as they seem. Most meals should speak for themselves, and I would advise trying anything you like the sound of, as the love and care in the food prep is seemingly back or at its best.

Had work dinner here tonight. We did the banquet. The food is delicious, fresh and heaps of food even with 10 of us. Even got to bring food home. Even a nice ice cream for dessert, which was nice on a hot night. Would recommend this place, especially for a big group.

The food matched expectations and the portions had good size. You have to order and pay at the cashier and will get the food in good time. The decorations of the restaurant are minimal, could have a bit more flair.

Awesome place for my Asian cravings. We got a little bit of everything but the servings were so big that we had to take away. Scallion pancakes and dumplings were so good. Will be coming back soon.

It was our first try at this place, we got a take away order, the sweet and sour pork, chicken fried noodles, pork and vege dumplings and pork buns, it was delicious! Loved the dumplings especially,🤤 the portion size was good and price and not a long wait either. Very good experience will go there again maybe dinen in next time.

One of my absolute favourite places to eat out in Palmerston North! Vegetarian options galore. My top recommendations are Vegetarian Dumplings, Dry Hot Pot Tofu/Vegetarian, and the Braised Eggplant & Potato. A small bowl of rice is a good extra but not essential. The soy sauce, vinegar, and chilli oil condiments on every table make an excellent dumpling sauce when mixed together to your taste. The Pu’er tea at the counter is hot, delicious, and goes well with the meal. As of 2023, I think there are new owners but the food is still exceptional! Same recipes and same satisfyingly cozy decor.

HOLY SMOKES. Ordered Fried Pork and Leek dumplings and Beef Fried Noodles - Changed my life. No joke. Note: They have Soy Sauce and Vinegar on their tables - in the same 'soy sauce' bottles that are ever-so-slightly labelled, so be careful.

Despite Chinese food being everywhere in New Zealand, it's pretty hard to find a restaurant that doesn't taste like they've shared their recipes with every other Chinese restaurant in the country. I almost lost hope for Chinese cuisine in Aotearoa, but being an optimist I decided to give this place a try, and I'm glad I did. The 3 dishes we decided to try were - Honey Soy Chicken and the Prawn & Chicken Noodles. We gotta say it was nice to find a place that actually pan tossed their chicken rather than drown it in sauce. The portion size was nice and the food had flavour. What more can you ask for?

Flavour of the dishes is exceptional, very happy we have found this place, very yummy

Whilst waiting for a bowl of beef noodle soup yesterday 31 May, I noticed the waitress who was wearing a mask and rubber gloves having a snack in the kitchen from a bowl using her fingers still in the gloves. She then picked up my bowl of soup with the same gloves complete with saliva from eating and brought my soup to the table. She proceeded to serve others with the same gloves often having her thumb on the surface of the plate which the customer would touch with their food before transferring to their mouth. Also my soup was sub standard, insomuch there was four thinly sliced pieces of beef atop tasteless barely cooked noodles, which altogether had an aroma of a dank cupboard. Not the twelve dollar lunch I was hoping for.

Some of the best dumplings I have had. I have been to several places throughout Wellington, Palmerston North, Auckland, and Napier, and these are better than what I have tried anywhere else. The chilli sauce is great and the servings for the rice and noodle options are massive and can easily feed two people. I will definitely continue to come here.

This place has definitely improved since the last time I went a couple years ago. We had ordered pork and seafood dumplings, beef noodle soup, egg and leak pancakes, and seafood and tofu soup.

The dumplings had a tasty filling, packed full of meat. However, the dough was a bit dense and was overall a bit oily.
The beef noodle soup was aromatic and strong, which suits my taste. Their noodles are hand made so it was nice and chewy. The beef slices were tender, could've added a few more slices though.
Soup was a very small portion... But it was very tasty with a lot of toppings.
What won the meal was the pancakes. There was a lot of filling, and it was quite moist. The dough was dense and altogether, was well seasoned.

Their service was also great - very genuine and joyful people. They also gave us extra beef broth 😋

I was dissatisfied due to the service. When I went in with my Korean friend to get a meal, and he received chopsticks, and I did not. The meal was still great, but just a little bit disappointed.

Food was average however service wasn’t great when you order a vegetarian tofu dish and not realise it comes with mince and then you can’t have your money back or a replacement meal your only choice is to buy another meal. Spring rolls were gross. Ordered pork and vege dumplings but there were no Veges inside. Wouldn’t and haven’t been recommending to anybody.

Our dishes were very tasty and yum I got the chicken fried noodle and my partner got the beef noodle soup both were yum but the beef noodle soup only had 3 pieces of beef in it so my partner wasn't happy, we got steamed pork buns to shear between us and they were tasty is well but I think they were dumplings but over all very tasty food 👌🏽

Got the duck dish, dumplings and stir fried veges. The duck was absolutely delicious but I was disappointed with both veges and dumplings. Considering the name of the place I was expecting the dumplings to be full of flavour. Was recommend by multiply friends so may have been unlucky. The staff are very friendly but noticed no background music.

I never knew this place existed so close to home! Probably lucky as I would be twice my size if I had! Noodles and dumplings is on the Square tucked in by Trumps, my brother’s girlfriend recommended it otherwise I would never have known. . The five of us ordered:. 2x leek & pork steamed dumplings

Favourite Asian restaurant in palmy, most their dishes quite authentic, their handmade pork and leek dumplings are by far the best I've had from a restaurant in New Zealand very flavourful. I always order the same thing each time I go and my partner likes to mix and match but he loves it too. Friendly service and relatively fast!

The food is good but the service is somewhat lacking most of the time. It would be good if they honoured the advertised online prices instead of just saying they're wrong and not bothering to update them.

Price is affordable. Popular with massey and UCOL students. I noticed the asian clientele. Thats a good recommendation food is tasty. Not the best sit down restaurant. But good for a inexpensive dinner or lunch with friends and family. Last night we had the pork and prawns dumpling, prawn fried rice and braised pork with rice and veges. Salt and pepper squid for starters. 4x cans of pop. $50 for two adults with BIG appetites. Went home with 2 boxes leftovers for late night snack. I found the food tasty and braised meat was tender although might be too fatty for some (pork belly).

Dirty cups...dirty water bottle... staff not that friendly... slow to serve the food. They need to improve there customer skills. And also the place... is not that friendly...

Service here varies, sometimes it's great, at other times not so wonderful. The food is very good value for money and extremely tasty. Dine-in meals are very big from my experience so be prepared for left-overs.

Simply excellent! The staff are friendly and helpful, and give you the space to enjoy your meal in peace ad quiet. The atmosphere here is amazing, a hidden gem in the CBD, a place where you can go to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and just relax. The food itself is a delight, and quite possibly the best value for money restaurant in the city! Nice large portions for such low prices, I highly recommend Noodles And Dumplings for anything from a romantic dinner to family outings and business meals. Outstanding, please keep up the good work!

Good tasty cheap eats, but do not count getting good service. Noodles and Dumplings offers a good range of Northern Chinese cuisine from the cumin lamb, to hand made dumplings, seaweed salad etc.

I would not recommend the Chinese burger as this is relatively expensive compared to the main dishes. The bread is very thick and the meat is a bit chewy.

Please refer to my website for an in-depth review

We drove from the Wairarapa to Palmie just to have lunch at Noodles and Dumplings and it was fantastic. Star of the meal? The Chinese cabbage in garlic that is only available in winter. We had 2 plates of dumplings, a huge dish of the cabbage and garlic, leek and garlic pancakes and a large dish of egg fried rice. All of it hot and amazing, beautifully seasoned, with the most expensive dish being $14.00. The entire meal came to $56.00 and the three of us were stuffed. Our Japanese guest was in heaven. She is from Tokoyo and loves her dumplings and pronounced the entire meal excellent. The service was also very good, friendly and helpful. We will be driving to Palmie again in the near future :)

Heard about this place from others so tried it but very disappointed. Inconsistent service, asked for a menu as we had kids with us so we could sit down to decide what to order, was told to use the picture menu at the counter, yet as we left a couple came in and were given a menu at their table. Most dishes were around $20 a main - stickers over the original prices, very few were the $10-12 we've heard about, service was slow and 4 dishes we ordered came out separately a good 7-10 minutes apart so we couldn't eat together, the last main they had forgotten about and we had to ask for so one of the children in our group had to wait 35 minutes before they could eat their ordered meal. I've been to many noodle houses in NZ and I won't be returning to this one. Food was OK but prices were higher than average and service too slow.

Not bad for fresh noodles and dumplings they make on site. The meals i have tried are really good too. And the prices are really cheap! :-)

Generally like the restaurant very much. They serve rather authentic Chinese meals with big portions. Only thing is that the dumplings are too thick for my liking.

We had heard a lot about this place and thought we'd give it a try. The restaurant was bright and clean. I had a platter of fried vegetable dumplings while my husband had a seafood meal. The portions were huge. We had asked for my husband's meal to be made spicy, and it was, with lots of chillies thrown in. There was enough in one serving for two people, and it all tasted amazing. This is definitely a place I would like to return to, as there were many other delicious looking items on the menu that I would love to try.

The Best dumplings! Can Highly recommend the spring onion pancake too.
BBQ Pork dish was excellent. Fried Prawn noodles was very yummy and big dish - had to take half of it home in a take away container.
Nice fast service and great atmosphere.
