Typical fish and chip shop - except the people that work there are super friendly, really cool people. And their 2 for $9.20 burgers are quite delicious, and relatively well priced.

Excellent place to go for Chinese. Always get welcomed when going in.

Price is now $6.50 for two burgers - not bad. Three pieces of fish in a fish burger, but I like the two Jumbo burgers. Chinese trays also good quality and price. Open late. Probably the most popular Chinese takeaways in town. Dine in ok. Not comfortable but fantastic for this price range.

GTs. the fish burger has been a staple since the 90s. the burger has reduced in size in recent years though, but you can now fit it in your mouth. will stop everytime i drive through. great price, great memories.

Probably one of the cheapest takeaway shop in Palmy. Their smorgasboard is pretty alright, and their meals are good if you want something cheap and fast. Quality of food is low/medium, but what do you really expect from that price?!<br/><br/>Their fried rice has questionable pieces of chicken, their nasigoreng is just fried rice but with curry powder instead of soy sauce. Sweet sour dishes are >50% batter, probably not even worth those ridiculously low prices. Their burgers are also just what you'd expect from a takeaway, but again ridiculously cheap and can't really complain.<br/>Chinese takeaway run by chinese people, you get the picture.<br/><br/>Food: 4/10<br/>Service: 3/10<br/>Ambience: 0/10<br/>Value for money: 9.5/10

The service there is so bad, the lady in the front is shout at me when i try to clean the food in the table with their tissue!!!! What the hell,  i was try to help, but her behaviour made me angry the whole day!!! What the hell!!!!The food is so bad and greasy, will never come back again and will tell others not come!!!!

Wow Golden takeaways is the best fast food place in Palmerston, I mean any 2 burgers for $5 that's just a crazy deal, its like the only place I can get full for $5 and maybe Pak n save but if I feel like a burger that's my go to place, and then there's the drop fried morro bars ohhhhhhhhhhh they're just to good, I mean can you get better food I think gts is the most underrated fast food shop here.

Fried rice is good, and huge portion for $5. You really can't go wrong here as it is the same fried rice sold at takeaways across town for half or sometimes even more than half of the price (I've seen them up to $12 elsewhere). I'd steer clear of literally everything else on the menu though, and the service isn't great either. There are severe language barriers between customers and staff. Everything in the place is covered in a layer of grease. But if you want cheap fried rice, head to GT's.

The times I've eaten at this place have been at 1,2 or 3am. And every time I've gone the service has been pretty awful. But can you blame them, they have to put up with all the drunks! <br/><br/>However, sometimes bad service can't dent good food. In this case, the food at this place is only good when you're drunk. So if you're in need for a feed after a night out on the booze, then Golden Takeaways is the place for you. Seriously, anything you eat from this place is edible, so long as you're drunk. <br/><br/>The fish is disgusting! The chips are dry, and stale. Go else where for a late night feed to fill your drunken cravings.

The chips are really yummy, and the service is quite good. I have been in there at 3am and the people at the front are always friendly and polite, even though they have to deal with drunken louts a lot of the time.

I am a fan of this place. $5 chicken fried rice can full me up the whole day. It is pretty cheap and they give you a lot.<br/><br/>Service is awesome. The owner treat you with smile all the time.<br/><br/>The taste is not bad but prob not the best. <br/><br/>overall, this is prob the best value meal in Palmerston North.

Have Golden Takeaways quite regularly and the Fish Burgers are just awesome, have never been let down!

fish burgers are great, unless you get a bad one, then they are no good at all. But out of the 100 or so burgers i have had from there i have to say only 1 or 2 weren't that nice so 98% succession rate not bad at all.<br/><br/>Haven't really tried anything else.

Conveniently open till early hours of the morning, and GT's offers a wide variety of deals which is great!
