Reserved a table for a party of 7, a lovely cosy corner spot for our group, greeted by Jan our amazing waitress who took care of us from 7pm-9:20pm we tried just about everything available on the menu from entrée/sharing plates to mains and dessert, they informed me that the menu was a new one and honestly when I looked at the menu I cringed because they were oddly mixed with flavours I hadn't been used to, but that night our team were up for a challenge, we took the plunge and ordered most of what was on offer, it was absolutely devine dinning that night 21.07.16, not kidding when I say the food was delicious, we have been to so many restaurants in Palmy and if it's great tasting food you are looking for at good reasonable prices $28-$36 for mains $13 for dessert which was once again scrumptious (I had sticky date pudding, it was moist and succulent just pure yummyness) you must try this place, the service alone is outstanding, our group made the effort to personally thank the chefs and our waitress and went home with a full tummy 👍👍👍

Have been here before for Tapas and drinks on a Sunday and was lovely! Great atmosphere with good music playing outside. We decided to come here for dinner too on the Friday night and were quite disappointed. Food was Average, service wasn't great and felt we were sitting on top of each other in the restaurant. Will come back for drinks but no dinner for me thanks.

VIK is in a beautiful location tucked away in Hokowhitu Village. A great selection of wine and craft beers, and the ribs are to die for! This is our new favourite place to visit, whether to enjoy a great meal or a few drinks and tapas on a sunny afternoon outside in one of the two outdoor areas. The staff are wonderful, very attentive and friendly.

I am all for supporting local restaurants and have been looking forward to eating there especially after all the below reviews.
Unfortunately what we experienced was far from hitting the mark.
For starters I had chicken liver pate which was actually quite nice. I ordered mussels which did not have their beards removed, some were uncooked and did not come with bread as detailed on the menu.
For main course my husband had a pork loin which was dry but edible apart from the piece of string. I ordered an entree as a main as on the menu they sounded large. It was meant to be pan seared tuna with olives (no olives) green beans (no green beans) and the tuna was a tuna confit (not pan seared in any way or form) and barely 2 teaspoons of tuna! It also came with eggs (lots.. ) and I do not eat egg. Egg was not mentioned on the menu.
We decided against dessert.
While paying we were asked how our meals had been. I politely said "rather disappointing."
Instead of offering any type of apology the staff became rude, confrontational and defensive.
Would have got more than one star but the attitude of the staff played a big part on the rating.
We won't return.

Key for a good night. Great selection of beer, particularly on the craft side of things. Recommend the polenta chips off the grazing menu, really tops off an evening of fine beer

Great wee spot, for a graze I tried the lamb and it was fantastic, the service was casual but professional and we had a very relaxing evening. I would recommend this spot for a family outing ( not really kids family , more a nice place to take your mother for a treat ). The staff were most accommodating allowing us to stay well beyond a respectable hour and finish our wine ( we had quite a table full)

Great little spot, kitchen doing a great job, relaxed environment nice place to chop a few drinks with your parents or even grand parents.. suggest making time to relax and make a whole night of it. Will be back

Tucked away in the Hokowitu Village the V.I.K is a great little find. Walking distance for all the area was a big plus as the wine prices were so cheap.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting with two separate menus to choose from. We opted for the "grazing menu" which had multiple dishes to choose from. The Parmesan artichokes were delicious and a rare roast beef with horseradish sauce went well with our pinot noir.
Accompanied by acoustic guitar and voice in the corner of the room the night was highly enjoyable and I would definitely return.

Tops! We all loved the feel of the place and our quality meals, wine good too. Overall a great dining experience, thank you V.I.K and we will be coming back, thanks also to the nice staff who held onto our newborn so I didn't miss out on the starters- mussels that were the best
