Was recommended this place by a friend and loved it! The food was good value and delicious, plus staff were very friendly. We really enjoyed our dinner tonight.

We got takeout here twice now and both times the naan bread was cold and stale. The last time was in Feb 2020 and it was burnt as well.

Both times we called in to complain we were told we had to drive back and pickup a replacement which is not really on. They wouldn't refund and said it was now their money and all they can do is replace it but only if we brought it back non bitten.

I'm scared they were going to give it to someone else aye cause im sure that's what they did to us.

Other parts of their food was pretty average too aye like the samosa was mad dry and the butter chicken only had like 3 little cubes of chicken, rest was sauce and a few other pieces of something. really bad effort and the rice was enough for 1 child.

Visited this resto for the first time. Ambience was good n relaxed atmosphere. Ordered Veg Manchurian n Veg Fried Rice. Manchurian was tasty enough . Didnt like the fried rice though, it had more of beans n snowpeas which is not a usual thing in Indochineese recepie. Overall it was an average experience.

Ordered dal makhni from this restaurant on 16 october in the evening . Found a chicken piece in the vegetarian dish . Staff on the phone not ready to accept their mistake . I don’t know who is responsible for this silly mistake .

Nan was good, butter chicken was okay. Could use more flavour and seasoning. However was really disappointed with the second dish, the "lemon chicken" which was not what was advertised on the photos online. Looked completely different. False advertising.

We ordered dal makhni taste wasn’t good we told to one of the staff that we didn’t eat and don’t like it .. but .....we paid full amount and left food on table

Will not be back! Vile, even when I was sober. Totally gross, new management are not doing a good job! Zero flavour, too runny, not enough meat & naan not cooked

Friendly staff plus beautiful meal... a must to try.. our regular once a week dining or takeaway is must from this place not only because there food is lovely but because of the genuine customer service and their warm personality. Thank you so much for your consistent hospitality for our every dinning experience so far.

I started going here a while back. It was so good really nice food. I loved the paneer and butter chicken and cheese n spinach naan. Prices are good too. Unfortunately the quality and customer service has gone down from there. I have started trying other places sadly. But if in the future the standards rise again I would definitely come back.

It was not too bad. I had the veggie korma and palak paneer. There could have been more flavour and spices in it though to be honest. Next time please don't scrimp on the cardamon and garam masala!

First time trying food from here after noticing the good reviews ☺️ it was a awesome first experience !

The pricing is decent, customer service was very friendly.

We loved the quality of the food ! The naan bread here is some of the best ive tried. The only thing that could do with a little improvement is the rice ? We will be back for sure 💕

First timer in this place. Stop by with hubby and daughter to satisfy our Butter chicken cravings. Ordered 2x Butter Chicken lunch meals, Bombay, prawn curry and a goat curry and loads of butter naan and roti. I must say this small place is very clean and the waitress was very friendly. I’m happy there is a butter chicken place near home that I can go and enjoy great curries with my friends and family. Best in preparation time too. A good waiting time.

* Takeaway order

This place was recommend by a friend,
I believe it may have changed hands with
Owners since, as I'm afraid it's gone down hill.

We ordered quite a few dishes
From here

Kadahi paneer
Dhal makhani
Palak paneer
Chicken tikka masala x2
Dal tadka x2 ( dairy free ) requested
X5-6 naans
X3 tandoori rotis ( no butter ) requested

Now, I'd like to be as constructive as possible
And not Lose my cool.

This was by far the worst Indian food I've had
So far to date,

The currys all looked like they'd been
Reheated a few times....

The naans and tandoori roti were terrible
Over 50% of the naans were raw and the
Tandoori rotis whilst being raw were also
Buttered ( we stated 3-4 times it was to be vegan)

The flavours in all the dishes were wishy washy as
Stayed by 6 diners, normally all currys from
A reputable establishment would all be finished,
However we had loads left over.

I had the dhal tadka which tasted nothing
More of garlic and cumin seed, not a single sign of a tomato or coriander etc.

Also, as a lot of people are, I'm quite intolerant
To MSG, woke up around 4-5 am with a horrid
Dry mouth and slightly upset stomach

Horribly disappointed, will not be ordering again
And would advise others to steer clear.

Had a beautiful meal, only the calamari is fish n chip squid rings. Everything else was perfect, will go again. Lovely service and nice atmosphere.

Went last night for their $10.99 special.. Not much meat but a lot of liquid.. doesn't come with a naan. Got garlic naan ($4.50 ! )which had no garlic taste.. If you want extra rice,it starts at $5.00 a bowl.. ridiculous!.. needless to say, I will not be back

Disappointing service, mistakes all around. We ordered through their website which took us through menulog-only to be overcharged for a take-away order. We had to pay online. When I got to the shop to ask why I was overcharged, I got some throw away response about it being via menulog-WHICH THEY SET UP AUTOMATICALLY. No refund was provided. When I get home, I find that they have left out half my order. Thank god I live down the road. Let's see if they actually get it to me.

Pepperboard is usually our local go to for curries and we takeout and dine in quite regularly but am dissapointed recently as that has changed. Ordered takeaway butter chickens and 3 naans last night one of which was garlic and when we got home there was no garlic at all (still charged for it) and the others were doughy on the inside black on the outside. The curry turned to water in our plates in a few minutes of adding to the rice. I was also treated poorly on the phone twice in a row ordering once to book a table. Am normally very happy but you need to pick it back up because I wont be returning if this continues.

Usually receive execllent service when dining in or taking out at Pepper Board. Food is generally excellent, ocaisionally the butter chicken can get a bit too sweet but otherwise one of our favourites.

2 pieces of chicken in Butter Chicken, Rogan Josh swimming in oil. Hadn't been here for some months. Ordered several dishes, the food was terrible would not go again.

Love their $10 mains. Yummy butter chicken with spot on spices.
Rice can be a bit hit and miss with warmness but nothing a zap in microwave won't fix when I get it home.

Pepper Board offer price competitive specials and good curries. Although I have never dined in here, only ordered takeaways. My Husband loves the Korma and that's seems to keep him coming back. I prefer the Chilli Chicken or Madras when I want something to.dip my Naan in. Overall it's not in my top lot, but it's local, cheap and above average.

Food: 3/5
Service: 3/5
Value: 4/5

We ordered takeaway food here on Saturday night. I would have emailed them privately but there's no address on their website so I have no choice but to write a review on here!

The food was delicious. Although the amount of chicken in their curries wasn't much at all compared to other places. Also we ordered medium butter chicken and it was definitely mild and the spicy butter chicken we ordered was definitely just medium.

One on the best food in town and pretty good customer service and the restaurant ambience.

Specially the goat curry is best.

Strongly recommend.👍

Came here tonight with friends..... we have been having takeaway from here since it 1st opened. My husband and his Scout Leaders come here for there meals. Well after tonights disappointment no one will be back. We wanted to order the Maharaj Banquet for 4, only for the (im new) waitress to say to me "Its not enough food for you"... why cos im over weight??? I said its $30 per person so its made to be enough for us. No she said.... so we ordered 4 mains.... Butter Chicken, Chicken Sagwaala, Lamb Pepper board special and Alof Ghobi.... the meals came out in the tiniest of bowls and I asked her which one is Butter Chicken she pointed and my friend said It doesnt look like Butter Chicken.... so we were approached by a male waiter to be asked how is the meal i told him not good will let you know at end.... the girl came over and asked same thing so told her same and also said that is not Butter Chicken to which she replied you said Balti!!! Nope she read back out order in the beginning and said Butter Chicken so not sure where that got lost... so she brought us out a Butter Chicken... there was far too much tomato and not enough flavour. I have eaten better at a food court. We were told its a new chef, well he needs to keep trying before he has free reign of a kitchen. Very very disappointed by the service and food. Have to give it a rating so 1 is for carpark space outside.

Very nice staff and atmosphere- food was extremely hot and needed to be remade otherwise ok value for money. Waitress very attentive and hospitable .

10.10.19 same waitress still very attentive however food was in need of some attention, chicken in entree and mains tasted....stale or old? Not as good as previous occasions. 1 STAR :(

We placed an order at 6pm. Said the delivery will be 7.05pm, when it got to 7.30pm we decided to call them and they said that the delivery was on the way. We finally got our food at 7.55pm!!! And to make it worse when it did arrive it was cold.

Why does it take 2 hours from ordering for the food to arrive. And if he left when it was supposed to be delivered how does a 15 min drive take 50 minutes!

Not impressive at all. The $10 chicken bhuna main was just tomato puree and sugar all over. The chicken biryani tasted like a mixed rice rather than an authentic biryani. We r new to papakura so thought of trying out this place based on good reviews here. Unfortunately turned out to be just another Unindian place. Never coming back here

The best curry in all of South Auckland, and there's more Indian restaurants in the hood then there is McDeez. I'm usually one to only leave negative feedback here on Zomato but I'm not one to deny credit where it is due. Pepperboard sells the best quality curry for the lowest price and they're never late when it comes to delivery

They had a wide range of different Starters, mains and dessert ( it was great ). I had the Kids Butter chicken It was great :). My family really liked it it was a great place to go with family and friends

recently moved to the area and after trying this place totally inlove. lunch is $8.99 for curry rice and lots of naan or dinner $10 curry and rice, who can complain. we visit once a week at least. We Tried all the Indian rest in papakura and this is the best. Hubby tries a new diah everytime and never disappointed. staff very friendly exp with our 8 mnth old.

Nice staff and good prices however the food was really unimpressive. I would never go back. I asked if the $10 mains were a proper serve curry and was assured they were.. Certainly didn't deliver on that promise with quantity or quality.

Came here for lunch, the atmousphere was great. We ordered samosa as starters which took a little longer but was very nice. Well worth the wait. The mains arrived shortly after and lacked seasoning, which was quickly rectified. The flavoirs on the other hand were average. I ordered lamb and wife ordered chiken. The chicken was a bit blend

No doubt changes are visible .which are better than previous management. Ambience and service is good. But soul of restaurant is missing. I have tried almost 65 Indian restaurants including some in UK and lots in NZ and India. Lot of Indian restaurants in NZ fail in achieving good business and thus closedown..... Reason- because all these have same NZ version of Indian food. Whereas Indian food in India is entirely different and better. NZ version- just keep adding sugar and cream, keep ready base gravies just add meat and vegetables , reheat and serve .And surprise customers at the by asking... ' how was the food' ....These NZ indian restaurants need to wake up. Kiwis are travelling 300 times more to Indian subcontinent and therefore realize that Indian food here is much deformed, sad and dull shape of Indian cuisine. But some restaurants understand the customer trends and change, the result look at the queues at even midnight outside their restaurant. The sugary food here added this restaurant to my 'Avoid' list.

Usually get takeaway from here, $10 curry most days of the week. Everything tastes great. So far we got butter chicken and vindaloo from here.

Great food, great service & great atmosphere.. Best curry I've had in a long time.
Cute little Indian restaurant that is real local and is bustling with people dining in & taking out.
Great pricing also.
Defiantly recommend 👍🏼

Ah-mazing Indian food! Onion bhaji as an entree was nothing like I have had from other chain Indian restaurants; it was too die for! I had a vege korma & my friend had the butter chicken both were really good. I asked for mine to be medium spice and it was perfect. Highly recommend trying this place before you go anywhere else in this area. Also their was one waitress on and she was soooo lovely, this is going to be my new local 👌🏼

This restaurant is honestly top mark. We absolutely love coming here. The food is great, the customer service is above and beyond. The are friendly, welcoming and attentive without being overboard. We go only to Pepperboard for Indian and have never left disappointed.

Ordered over the phone as a first time customer, was greeted by a lovely, polite & clearly spoken lady who advised me of a 45min wait as their driver was very busy & she apologised even though my order was delivered only 30mins after ordering by two also very polite young gentlemen. Dinner was absolutely delish! Kids & adults loved it! It's an A+++ from me😄👌🏼

Dropped by recently for takeaway rather than dining in due to the poor weather. It had probably been a good 5-6 months since we last ate here. In the past (dining in) the food and service were excellent. Probably the best Indian we had eaten - in the past.

This time we kept it simple, 2 butter chickens, one mild one medium and two garlic naan bread. When we ordered I noticed the manager we had always known was no longer there, it was nice to learn that the owners themselves were now running the business. We were told the food and service were much better and the restaurant was much busier.

Owner told us the order would take 15 minutes. We drove over to countdown to get some drinks and came back after 15-20 minutes. The owner was gone and I enquired about our order. Not ready yet. After 20 minutes of waiting the owner returned and I asked her if there was a backlog of orders as we had been waiting 35-40 minutes when she told us it would be 15 minutes. She said she would check up on it and came back with our order after 5 minutes or so.

When we got home we dug in as we were quite ravenous. The first thing I noticed with my medium butter chicken was just how sweet the sauce was, it really didn't taste like butter chicken at all, the sweetness really overpowered the dish. I tried the mild butter chicken and it was also very sweet and again tasted very far from a standard butter chicken. We were both very disappointed as we are keen fans of butter chicken.

We called the owner and told her about the food and she was pleasant about it and said we could have a free one the next time.

Can't get a basic butter chicken right so time to move on to sample the competition. I wish pepperboard had remained the same.

The food is always fantastic. We regularly have the butter chicken and it is the best I have had so far. Most of the staff are lovely and have gotten to know us. However some staff can be slightly rude... This has happened on two occasions. The layout and atmosphere are lovely.

Great service. Great meal. After our entre they asked when we would like our mains served to us. They delivered warm plates. Then the mains came out, ample rice which was included in the dish and well presented curry bowl. The restraunt has a nice feel with a warm decore. The Pepperboard has an upmarket feel to the restraunt but cheap prices, they have a special on at the moment with $10 mains. I had the beef Bhuna which I loved. We really enjoyed our meal and evening.

Really lovely restaurant, they have the $10 meals excluding seafood every night.
Place was very warm and inviting. Meal was absolutely beautiful and one of the nicest Indian Meals my friend and I have had, I ordered Chicken Balti and my friend ordered the Special Pepperboard Lamb which was devine!, we had rice and Roti with our meal Nice glass of wine, staff friendly.

Sat down at restaurant and also had takeaway, sit down menu was great especially the chilli chicken and have to say the best indian meal I've had in New Zealand. Takeaway was good as well, recommend highly

I have been here many times, I find the service is always good and the food is delicious. They have always been very attentive without over doing it and its nice and small so even if they are busy its a nice cosy atmosphere. I would highly recommend this place and find that the fact they do Take Away as well to also be a big plus. It is very reasonably priced its a great place to have dinner and a few drinks with friends. Easy access to parking and love the fact that they have proper tables and chairs not the crappy generic metal tables and chairs a lot of small food places are using these days.

Great Food & Service. Had a Chicken Bhuna and the chicken was tender and moist and the flavours of the curry were exceptional. They have really done a great job in creating a wonderful ambiance in this small family owned restaurant. Well done!
