Shang Lee would have to be the best Chinese takeaway in New Zealand! Their smorgasbord selection is amazing, and their food is reasonably priced and of a very high standard. The only problem being, once you have experienced Shang Lee cuisine you won't like any other Chinese takeaway.

The meals were really good but the price is very expensive but where ever you go to other places now for meals it is very expensive kind Regards Peter

This has always been my favorite takeaway bar. I revisited to see if their smorgasbord menu was on. Unfortunately it was on hold till further notice. So I ordered a steak chow mein, a combination meats fried rice and honeyed chicken. Absolutely beautiful..its like we never left. Thank you Shang Lee

Great food excellent service clean surroundings and friendly helpful staff. Smorgasbord service we took our time choosing our dishes. A wide variety and choice and the black bean sauce dishes are a favourite. Vegetables were fresh, meat tender dishes. Would frequent again for the great food and staff service.

Our favorites are nasi goreng, fried rice and chow mein. Their meat & veg ratios are higher than carbs, so definitely they have good options for someone who loves lowcarb meals

My new favourite place to go. Sooooo many options to choose from. The food is absolutely delicious. Portion sizes are quite big. You can chose to fill your own tray or purchase off the menu and take away. I will be back!

What a fall from grace! This used to be one of the best takeaway places, but it is now one of the worst, unfortunately! I used to love the meat pears, but tried one the other day & it was small with little filling & the recipe was different. Not good at all. Also, the time before I tried to give the place another go after previous bad dishes & the spring rolls were inedible (used to be gorgeous). If a Chinese takeaway screws up spring rolls, let that be the only warning sign you need!

WOW! Devine and extremely generous portions!, I have been hunting for authentic Asian cuisine in Papakura for a while and am very happy to have found Shang Lee. Very clean, service is very professional and the food so fresh and yummy.

I haven't had this in a while but I do remember ordering a plate from the smorgasbord. I thought the food was average and I didn't quite enjoy it if we would have it for dinner with the family

Ordered wonton soup and pork fried rice.. I didn’t enjoy them but didn’t hate them either.. wouldn’t order them again though.. possibly will go back to try a couple other dishes.. service was average..

I'm a regular here, this is the best chinese takeaway in Papakura. Well priced, tasty dishes and a smorgasbord with plenty to choose from each evening.  My favourite dish is the Shang Lee special chow mein, but I like ask for crispy vegetables and the noddles on top.  I also like the ginger beef and the spare ribs with a peking sauce.

Grew up eating their food, and still love it to this day. The smorgasbord is great as you can really pack in what you want, with the portions of everything being up to you.

Really great food, and MASSIVE portions! I got veggie cashews and veggie fried rice. So good! I asked for no oyster sauce obv, and they accomodated. So delicious and a very big menu. They even have a smorgasboard for less than $12 and people seemed to be packing it in. Go here!!

Amazing food + good variety. Shame when they’re busy the food can sometimes be over or under cooked but most of the time they’re on point! Their wontons, noodles and potato dishes are brilliant!

best chinese in town never had better fried rice anywhere and the satay chicken on rice is amazing have been going here for years and no one can beet it

Great variety I will definitely be back. I think it was quite expensive though considering the large was $15 something, and it wasn’t that large. Enough to feed me so I think husband would have needed two of those. I love how much different stuff was available. Some was way too sweet tho but all in all great place.

One of the tastiest places to dine while in Papakura for sure. Majority of their Chinese dishes are full of flavor and their pork spare ribs are the best!

Pretty good local, with options of smorgasbord or freshly cooked. Can recommend the Bami Goreng, tasty and good sized portions.<br/>These guys have been around for a long time, so must be doing something right.

Best Chinese takeaways in Auckland. Even used to drive from Ellerslie to get food from here as nothing local could compare. Have been coming here for 20+ years and has never let me down. Can pack the Smorgasbord trays high as the sky and the staff don't complain. Wontons are the best I've ever had and full of meat, they don't scrimp on the meat in any of the dishes like most other Chinese takeaways.

thought we would try shang lee after checking out the review. happy with the food, was very fresh and tasted great. Bit dear but worth it.however rude service from the guy at the counter,, when enquiring about the prices of trays of food, answered with 'quite expensive' and giving us moody looks while waiting for our takeaway.

I always come here for the smorgasbord which is usually good.  I was disappointed this time, hardly any food out, 4 empty pans and only the lemon fish was renewed. I was in there for 15-20 minutes waiting for the other dishes to be refilled but gave up and took 4 things that were there. I hope this improves as I have always been happy with Shang Lees before.

The combination fried rice is not bad. The other reviews deal a bir of negativity. The person behind the counter is a human being. I have not had any problems with the service at this takeaway outlet.

Was ok, but have had better... Ordered from the menu and found the fried rice a little dry. The chicken chow mein and the chips were pretty good.

Decided to try this place on the back of other zomato reviews. Food was so so. Paid $25 for a large and small tray from smorgasbord. Fish had thick batter, lemon chicken not a fan, wontons are nice and meaty, noodles were tasty, sweet and sour pork = deliciousness.

Best chinese smorgasbord in auckland have never found a good one outside napier and Hamilton but finally found this one. It is a little expensive but is a good feed

Gr8 takeaway, we dont do the smorgasbord only order off menus. There chow mein, curry,sweet n sour, blackbean, foo young dishes can highly recommend. We have been buying takeaways from here for over 8yrs, only disappointment we get, is chips have been undercooked on several occasions. We just dont order chips now, best chinese takeaway we have ever found and very tasty.

Shang Lee is and will always be the best Chinese I've ever had nothing or no one compares , taste 100 , quality 100 everything's 100 . The sweet and sour pork will be the best you've ever tasted I bet you ;) .

Didn't have high hopes as most of the Chinese take always in the area always let me down. Was incredibly surprised by the quality of meat and vegetables. Food was delicious and cooked well. Friendly service as well

We ordered our meal - and I was very disappointed. The BBQ pork in our fried rice apaired to me to be cooked from frozen it was soggy and bland. The rice was very very greasey and lacked flavour, and our stir fried noodles tasted heavily of ginger which I did not enjoy. We did how ever enjoy the sweet and sour pork and the won tons, but over all was bad enough to not return to this restaurant anytime soon.

Been going there for years - always delicious, never disappointed.  They always know me on the phone and greet me.  Awesome friendly staff.  Have ordered off the smorgasbord and menu and both are delicious.  Huge meal portions - always some for lunch the next day!

Definitely worth a visit if you are wanting value for money tasty Chinese food, good variety with the smorgasbord option and particularly enjoy their nasi goreng off the menu.

Only ever get the smorgasbord for dinner - it's fresh, plentiful and excellent value. Definitely 'kiwified' Chinese but good stuff and lots of variety with different dishes. Friendly staff, quick efficient service, takeaway only (no tables, bench seats to wait for orders). Can also order usual takeaway whole dishes if don't want smorgasbord.

LOVE ShangLee. Best chinese in Papakura & I have a couple people that would agree with me. Service is always fast & efficient. Food is always cooked to a high standard. Best wontons EVER! They even have a buffet option if you dont want to order off the menu & want a variety of things.
