Review Henry & Ted - Papamoa

I am visiting from Melbourne and luck to have this very cool cafe nearby. Food choice is great, I had braised lamb croquettes, with medjool dates, labneh, dukkah, herb salad with grapes and a sherry dressing ($26) delicious!! Friend had smoked Kahawai pate, pickles, chimichurri, grilled sourdough ($24) equally as delicious. Coffee on point for this Melburnian. Friendly vibe. Service quick and welcoming. Other delicious things on display. Will make it my daily ritual.

I traveled out of the way to visit this cafe due to the reviews and although it was good it wasn’t a 5 star rating for me. A steady stream of customers & nice food but expensive. No avocado which I was sad about. My frappe was ok but lacked cream and strength.

Second time here, second time not being able to order my first choice on the menu - although they did offer to make a wrap from scratch to meet my intolerances - points for that! The smoothie was lovely, the juices were also super refreshing although fresh orange juice tasted much the same as the one with other ingredients. Our meals were delicious. It’s a beautiful vibe 🙌🏼

Highly recommended spot for a quick bricky or something. We had a great time there while enjoying their Egg Bene. It was no doubt one of the best. Natural orange juice was full of freshness. Staff is so friendly and welcoming.

Amazing food and outstanding service. The atmosphere is great just wish it had a view. If you want a good coffee and food that’ll make you want to come back this is the spot. As far as service goes, Jesus (the server) had a fantastic recommendation and awesome table service with jokes and a friendly attitude. Highly recommend and will be back for another Philly cheesesteak.

Delighted to be able to sit outside in the sun. Beautiful brunch outstanding coffee. Couldn't leave without treats from the cabinet.

went to the grape versus grain dinner on Friday November 24th, great food and service along with informative discussion with the wine and beer suppliers. Excellent value for money. Well done to both front of house and kitchen staff.

Love this place. Bright and sunny, great atmosphere and excellent staff. The food is out there! Such a variety of fresh really tasty food to choose from - coffee/cake through to a full on delicious meal. So good.

Had an amazing salmon experience, the only reason it's doesn't get 5 stars is my partners creamy mushrooms looked a tad better and she wouldn't swap. Not quiet a break up deal but close. 4.5/5 would recommend

Been to the cafe many times and great experiences but we don’t normally do food reviews, however went to the Grape v Grain degustation on Fri night and wow, what an experience. Superb food, fascinating and humorous insight into wine and beer making by Scott and Callum, and service extraordinaire by Mel and Rachel. Definitely on for the next event

Amazing food with lovely, friendly staff. Excellent atmosphere, light, open & good vibes music. Perfect place for a coffee and a catch up! Yummy gluten free sweeties too 😋

Lovely joint! Would definitely recommend. Pet friendly, nice patio, awesome service, and super close to the beach.

Lovely smooth running busy café. Loved the service, smiles everywhere, amazing work in the tiny kitchen and the egg bennie was yummy.

The eggs bene was so good, that potato hash and pesto is such a good combo and that manuka smoked bacon was next level.coffee and mocha was on point and the ranga juice was perfect S/O to Rachel for the awesome service. Cruises surf rock beach vibes music was an added bonus

Visited this lovely cafe a few times all the way from Finland :) and really loved the food and the staff. Definitely recommend this place for anyone seeking for a nice time and great food. :) Thanks Henry&Ted!

Specifically asked for crispy bacon with my eggs benedict and got barely cooked bacon and a blighty lumpy hash cake. Was giving them the benefit of the doubt after the first time I had under cooked bacon with a hair, but given a second bad experience, definitely not going their again.

Absolute worst service ever. Ordered a smoothie and 2 x muffins for Takeaway. I waited 25mins no one knew what they were doing and then I seen them add tap water to my smoothie?!? Which was supposed to have coconut water in it anyway? They also gave me the wrong muffin that I ordered so I only realised this once I got home. Very disappointing. The other savoury scone was dry anyways. I won't be back.

Out first time as have heard glowing reports of this place. Great food (the beast for him and Norma Benny with salmon for me- homemade divine hash browns) Fab atmosphere and friendly quick service . Good selection of alternative hot drinks. The beetroot or turmeric almond milk latte’s are a must if you don’t drink coffee. So much choice and great healthy options. We will be back 💜

Not very happy with our breakfast here. Had to wait 30 minutes between first and last meal served to the table. Majority of items were luke warm to cold. Basic requests were missed ie. sauce on the side, extra egg. Paid $4 for a few small slices of avocado. Don’t like to give a bad review, but, unfortunately no one came to check how our meals were.

How could you not give this place 5*, it’s simply amazing. Super fast and friendly service. Would have to say the best coffee I have had to dates, thanks to the dude on the machine. Food tops! Pity we don’t live closer at it would be my new local. Will definitely be back!

Not happy with service, we arrived at 2.25pm picked up a menu from the counter and took a seat. No one acknowledged us so wasn't sure if it was table or counter serviced. Once we had decided on what to eat, feeling excited at the prospect of eating as the menu looked impressive we went to the counter the time is now 2.32pm we were about to place our order when the girl behind the counter said the kitchen closed at 2.30pm are you kidding its 2.32!!! So we decided to order 2 x takeaways coffees these took 15 mins to make and were cold. Never going back, staff could of let us know when we grabbed the menus and sat down that the kitchen was closing in 5 mins obviously they didn't need our business. Staff seemed very unhappy.

Went in at 7:30 for a quiet Sunday morning coffee. VERY loud music playing. “Do you always have the music this loud?” I asked a staff member. “I beg your pardon?” she asks. After a couple of shouted comments they didn’t take the hint, so I went to McDonalds instead. Henry & Ted’s seems like a nice place, so I’ll go back for lunch and review my rating.

Will come try your new menu out over summer as before I found the food quite bland and overpriced. Took my 84 year old dad there dry biscuit and burnt coffee last summer so never went back .also have you thought of putting in a nappy change in toilet would be helpful seen as a lot of us have young babies

Amazing coffee, food, atmosphere and crew! Can't wait to try out Lil Tedz too. Need to duck my head in for a cuppa and and panini soon. Miss this place a lot

Great service! Went in this morning, everyone greeted me which made my day. There is a constant happy vibe in the place which makes it a pleasure to go into. Also the coffee was tops! Cheers Team.

Ate here today, food was alright but the service was disappointing. We sat waiting as other tables were served; we had ordered 25 minutes prior to them. After a lengthy wait and asking numerous times got fed up and asked at the counter only to find out they had forgotten the order. To which they showed no remorse.

Love Henry and ted! Always have such a beautiful yummy looking case! Beautiful selection and variety, and their slices are so yummy. Food in the kitchen is a little on the expensive side but well worth it and they definitely don’t skimp on the main ingredients. Food for all diets, range of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free foods so there’s definitely something for everyone

Had heard a lot of good things about this local cafe, right from the service to the food.
Parking was easy & there is a good amount of indoor & outdoor seating.
Although the cabinet food was tempting, and eggs benny deemed a local fave, it was the buckwheat pancakes with bacon for today. It was a well rounded dish with a good balance of flavours & textures. The portion size was decent too - couldn’t quite finish it! Coffee was nice & strong.

Probably the best smashed avocado I have ever eaten in my life. The food looked very nice and tasted even better. Definitely worth a stop if you find yourself in Papamoa!

Enjoyable coffee shop. Visited twice while staying in Papamoa. Each time we couldn’t resist picking up a little snack to go with our fantastic coffees! Everything was delicious.

All doors fully open, music going, delicious looking treats on the counter and the cabinets were full. There were four staff on and one chef in the kitchen. I was happily greeted by two of them. One lady behind the counter said “how can I help”, I began to speak but was interrupted by her saying "oh no sorry we are not open for another 15 minutes" I found this bizarre...you look open...you said how can I help......so you don't want my money?? Unlucky for them I was going to order takeaway treats for a work shout - They just lost $80 - $100 sale. Weird.

Food was instagrama-able, outdoor area so you can get a tan while you eat, lots of dogs hanging out and hot coffee guy. Overall 10/10 fab experience

gorgeous fit out, great selection of cabinet foods, coffee was great and eggs benny was perfect. smashed avo was ok, could do with some lemon or herbs to freshen it up

They're getting there.
When they first opened it was awful, the service was just horrible every time but they made really good vegan and vegetarian food, so I would always return.
Now the service has become much better but unfortunately the chef left to follow her own business aspirations (which btw is amazing "Mr Jackson" food truck, delicious!) so the vegan and vegetarian food options are lacking now which is a shame.
Coffee is always consistent though.

Stayed down the road from Henry and Ted last week and came here 3 times, will definately come again. It was pretty busy each time we came but the staff inform you of wait times the egg benne was fantastic, the hash cake so good!!! The scones were also delicious. Can't wait to come back and try more from the menu! I also had a smoothie which was yum and apparently the coffee was great too.

Had brekkie here on a Sunday morning with a friend , reasonably busy but our food arrived promptly! We both got the pancakes (without bacon) Both really enjoyed it ! I would absolutely come here again, keen to try some of the vegan food on offer - kids play area under cover outside is an absolute bonus as I had my 3 year old with us - meant I could actually catch up with my friend and enjoy breakfast instead of trying to entertain her !
Next time I visit papamoa I'll def be back!
