Love this place! Staff were attentive and kind. The food was amazing! The best roti I have had for ages and the mains were beautifully presented and delicious. Highly recommend.

Great food & staff. We ordered takeaway chicken red curry, beef massaman, chicken satay skewers & curry puffs they were all yum, the curries were really big servings! Ordered kiwi hot & medium but both tasted pretty mild so maybe go higher than usual. Ordering on the phone was super easy love when they give a warning on wait times & repeat the order back 👌🏽 we will be back 😊

Friendly service. Enjoyed the tempura prawns as a starter. Panang curry with chicken was good, plenty of veggies, sauce a bit thicker than I'm used to from other places.

Great Thai food, with REAL flavours. Staff and Ying - owner- very welcoming. Prices for bottles of wine VERY reasonable- good range, and all under $30. Baked Fish lovely. SonTam salad was very spicy, but they made it for my Thai friends, so perfect for them.

Foods amazing! Never had I thought to add pumpkin to my red or Penang curries. Always great drunken stirfry is also beautiful. Can be a wait for take away but that only goes to how popular this place is! And cheap!!

We've been dining and getting takeaways from Ying at Thai Marina for years now. Their food is consistently good quality and the portions are a good size. Now using biodegradable containers - great move. I'm gluten and diary intolerant and have always been catered for at Thai Marina. About to order some more takeout right now!

Best Thai restaurant in Kapiti area. Authentic and great tasting food, nicely sized portions and reasonably priced. My favorite is Beef Larb. Highly recommended.

Have been to every Thai place on the Kapiti Coast and I must say Thai marina is by far the best! They have a lot more variety than most, lovely service and the best duck pad satay special, the yellow curry is to die for too!’ Would 100% recommend!

Good food and service

A very good food delicacy if you crave for Thai food. Has BYO wine option as well. Lovely service but don't forget to book in as it gets busy specially over the weekends.

Went with a couple of friends and was quite pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious and came generously proportioned. The only fault is it took a while for our meals to come out.

Great friendly service. I had the stir fry she had the fried rice. Stir fry was great and the fried rice ok.One hour later the diarrhoea started which really could only come from the fried rice, this went on for 12 hours.Think we might just give the Thai a miss from now on.

Fantastic service with yummy food. Busy but good atmosphere so would recommend eating in. Serving sizes great with a wide range of meals available, perfect for vegetarians or anyone after a wallet friendly lunch/dinner out

I have read other reviews here and am quite frankly shocked beyond all belief. I think other Thai restaurants in the area have left rubbish reviews that frankly aren't true. I went to another online review place and it was 100% there. My family and I have been to this restaurant numerous times., ALWAYS friendly, all speak English, always tasty beautiful food. I fully and highly recommend this place.

I was recently one of a group of 21 at a friends birthday at Thai Marina. I am so unhappy that even writing this review is not enough. We arrived only to find that there weren't enough seats to cater everybody, something we had to fix ourselves as the staff looked the other way. The menu was not what my friend had set with the staff beforehand and a few went home with sore tummy's. It was very rushed along and we were given "doggy bags" while we were still eating! We were also told more then once to "shh" by the staff now I would be the first to tell people at the table to be quite, having worked in hospitality before and respect other people in a restaurant but we weren't even bad for a table of so many! Then it came time to pay.. unfortunately the NON English speaking one was on the till.. I ended up being extremely overcharged and when I questioned it (my bad for swiping my card beforehand) I was called a liar and they have since refused to give my money back. What ever happened to the customer is always right? I'm disgusted and will never be back.

Thai Marina was far and away the best Thai we have had outside of Thailand. It was absolutely fantastic and we will be back!!!!

I am a bit mystified by the mixed reviews here, as we simply loved our service and meals. Reading through the less favourable ones, it seems the wheels fall off a little when they are really busy perhaps? We were there very early in the evening, and so there were not many other diners there.

Everything was exemplary.

We have travelled to Thailand a few times and love the food there. We often try to locate great Thai in New Zealand with mixed results. This place is an absolute diamond! Yum, yum, yum.

Love Thai food and eat it often. However, this restaurant has given us the worst experience. Service was good, but food was all fried, very dry, with not a great taste. The whole family was awake through the night with heart burn and the dry horrors like never before. In my opinion, not traditional Thai food, and will definitely not recommend to others.

Love this place. We come here often and love the service, the quality of the food. It offers great value for money and a great selection of food. We love the set menu options especially. I will always recommend this place to others!

We came from out of town and thought we would try this out. We got takeaway. First of all it did take a long time! The pad thai we ordered was disgusting. There was minimal chicken in it. Seriously smelt like tomato sauce was on it. Cost us $36.00 for two mains and a can of coke which in my opinion for the quality of the food was rubbish!!!
What a waste of money :(

Whats everyone moaning about, we eat here often and we find the food and the service 100%. Recently we had some guests who worked and lived for many years in Hong Kong and Thailand, they loved the food and gave this restaurant top marks.
Well done we will be back.

We have had a couple of meals here,
I am surprised by the negative reviews.
Of the 3 or 4 times We have been the food has always been Prompt and the Service efficient.

The food is fine, but I think the Thai around the corner has more traditional Thai food, unfortunately they charge more too

Booked for 3 people and arrived on time at 6.45pm. Restaurant was relatively busy but food was ordered by 7pm. At 8pm we asked where the food was. The response ? You didn't order any entrees and we are very busy doing takeaways !!!!!!! we will have your meal ready in 10 minutes. The food arrived 15mins later and the order was incorrect - we had to wait for one of the dishes to be re-done. Food was average (the sizzling pork didn't sizzle and was barely warm) apologies were pretty insincere and to add insult to injury we were billed for 2 lots of corkage for the one bottle of wine we brought with us. The retired couple I was celebrating with are locals who were totally embarrassed because they had suggested this place. I suspect they won't make that mistake again !

Went there last night 3rd december. Got there at 7.05 ordered by 7.40 with entrees which were nice but waited ages for mains then only 5 of the 6 people got theirs on time .They had forgotten mine and rushed out something i didn't order and wasn't spicy as requested. We then left and of course didn't pay for my late meal. Poor service and average food the others said so never again which is a shame because has nice atmosphere that night.

I had dinner with a couple of friends on Saturday 28 May. By 7.00pm the largish restaurant was full which says it all!

We started with roti and peanut sauce which was good. For the mains, I had crispy pork tropical curry - thai hot - it was very hot and tasty. The curry sauce was excellent. My friends had vegetarian nasi goreng (which looked very good) and lamb panaeng curry - they both enjoyed their meals.

Service was very good.

We will be coming back - it was great to find a local thai restaurant in Kapiti Coast serving excellent food.

Recommended.

Got there and loved the atmosphere...until we sat down.
We ordered our food at 7.20, received entres at 8.10 which were ok. Didn't get mains until 9.30 and they had forgotten my order. They said sorry then made me my main, something i didn't order.
by this time i had enough, i will never return as the service was rubbish, food was very average from what i got. I would have been very unhappy if i had to pay. I will not be returning.

We went to the Thai Marina for the first time last night. It was pleasing to note that the set menu caters for 2 people. We were greeted in typical Thai style. The staff were lovely in their authentic dress and genuine smiles.

The food was really nice and I will certainly recommend this restaurant to my friends and family.

I look forward to going there again.

Thai Marina is in a lovely location by the sea; has classy decor and local art of the wall. We went on a quiet Tuesday night and were well looked after by the Thai waitresses in traditional costume.

We started with soup, I had Tom Yum Goong which was lovely and well balanced. My partner had Tom Kha Gai (coconut soup) which was a standout, nutty and spicy. Both soups were smaller servings but they contained a range vegetables not normally used like Asian greens and evidence of the ingredients in the stock with lots of chilli, galangal and lemon grass in the bowl.

For the mains we had a green curry chicken and a chilli cashew chicken. The green curry was lovely but could have used more chilli but perhaps I was just desensitised by the Tom Yum. The chilli cashew was great. It was noted on the menu as containing pineapple but my partner asked for chilli chicken so they used the same sauce but replaced the pineapple with whole dried chilli which was perfect for him. A great touch was the chef coming out of the kitchen to farewell us at the end of the night.

Thai Marina is slightly more expensive than other Thai restaurants we have been to in the Wellington region but it is definitely the best. We went away very happy with the food, ambience and service and will return soon.
