Review The Himalayan Kitchen - Paraparaumu

I have eaten in 90% of Indian restaurants across North and South Island. The Himalayan is my favourite food in the Kapiti region, and I have tried them all. I have never had a bad or disappointing curry from them, and I generally have two take always plus a week. My curry is always Indian hot, with my wife preferring a milder dish. The food has always met my expectations, and the staff are fantastic.

Chilli cheese and garlic nan was beautiful. Very spicy and probably didn’t need to be paired with a hot curry unless you’re an absolute heat freak. The hot duck curry was beautiful though and loaded with duck meat. 10/10 would recommend 👍

Delicious Food & love that they have a 'medium hot' which adds just enough kick, but doesn't make it so hot you can't eat it. Nice chicken, no gristle! My favourite Indian/Nepalese restaurant in Kapiti.

We ordered chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo and cheese naan. Everything was so good and quick! Great service and yummy food😀

Brilliant restaurant, I'd recommend the Goat curry & Momos. The wait staff were very polite even though my mother was very rude. Thanks for a wonderful time :)

I have dinned in this restaurant on a number of occasions and I have always really enjoyed my meals with great service and a good experience. I often grab a takeaway for the convenience and tonight 10th Oct my meal was exceptionally good, very fresh and very tasty and piping hot when I got home. The spicy level was hot and just right. My cheese and garlic Naan was also the best. Tonight I got the lamb sagawala. I recommend dinning here, or grab a takeaway and try it for yourself. Thank you so much.

Prawn curries are my favourite Indian dish and I have finally found a restaurant that makes great prawn curry in Kapiti! I'm so glad we gave this place a try yesterday. Fresh ingredients (especially the king prawn) and perfect amount of sweetness. My partner had chicken tikka masala and he was very satisfied with his dish as well. We also enjoyed chilling outdoor table on the deck. We'll definitely go back again.

Great meal with friends. All 4 of us really enjoyed the experience and service. We did BYO wine and overall pricing is reasonable.

Best curry we've found in Paraparaumu / Waikanae. Often get it delivered via deliver easy. We went in one once and had curry there. Food was excellent as always though the atmosphere was about the same as your average curry restaurant. Haven't tried any of the Nepalese dishes yet cause the indian curries are too good to pass up.

Delicious food. Wow. I was in Kapiti for just 2 days and didn’t have a single good vegan meal besides the creamy coconut vegetable curry I ordered here. And trust me I’m picky, but this curry absolutely blew my mind. So creamy, so delicious, generous helpings - I was so full but had to finish the entire meal. It was also gluten free which is such a bonus. Fantastic vegan options, and friendly staff, the second I’m back in Kapiti I’m visiting here again to try some of the Himalayan options too. 10/10 would recommend!✨

We really enjoyed eating here. The food was fresh and tasty and the staff were accomodating. We are looking forward to eating here again sometime.

Food was awesome, just the right spice levels, warm homely setting though a bit noisy, takeaway phone constantly ringing and the till beeping. Will come back for sure

Good service, food was yummy, good cooks here, now my favourite Nepalese/Indian restaurant, unpretentious building but who cares if the food is great. A lot of Indian restaurants have mainly sauce/gravy but here that didn't happen so worth the money. And no greasy oily so no indigestion. Thank you.

The most genuine amazing people! And the food is the most authentic I have ever had in NZ - they had garhwali curry which I haven’t been able to find anywhere since India. I came very late and they made my food takeaway for me with a smile 😀 it was just so amazing! I can’t say more positive things about it. Best people!

Sensational food and ready to pick up quick. The lime pickle was deliciously sour and a tad spicy, the Papadams crispy, and the butter Naan soft and stretchy 🤤🤤. The curries were perfectly spiced and absolutely delicious, we had the Garhwali and Lababdar. I'd definitely get the Garhwali again! We will be back, Thank you!
