Hands down the best Thai food on the kapiti coast !! Staff are so friendly and the food is just amazing 🤩

This was my very 1st visit to Muang Thai restaurant and it was for a takeaway order that I chose after arriving there. I had previously read some reviews before hand which gave me a level of good expectation... I wasn't disappointed. The menu was nice and simple without being too much and I chose (C9) Phad ka pow chicken. My meal was very nice but I thort the rice was a little bit gooy, but in fairness it was towards closing on a quite Monday night. The restaurant had about 10 people dining and it seemed like a lovely little snug authentic Thai restaurant to dine in. The young lady who served me was nice and friendly. I will be back for another meal soon, but I'll go for a curry next time. Thank you

Had dinner there tonight and it was excellent. We didn't have a booking and it was busy for a Monday night. The waitress was fabulous, made sure every table had water, a drink and had their order taken, all on her own. The food was delicious, serving size is generous and so fresh. Yes, we had a little wait but it was absolutely worth it. Happy table of 4 here and we'll be back. Thanks for a great meal!.

Muang Thai was amazing! After a busy day at work we originally went there this evening for takeout, however after walking in; the atmosphere, the cute little kitchen, the smell all were so inviting we decided to eat in. It was so lovely, staff were friendly and helpful. So glad we decided to stay in. Now for the food... Oh my, SO DELICIOUS, everything was full of flavour, nicely presented and so so tasty - we couldn't put our forks down! 100% going back, and I 100% recommend you stop by and try them out! 🙂

After we couldn't get a table at another restaurant, my wife and I walked passed Muang and decided to take a chance. Food was great and the service very attentive - just right. Payed much less than the average in Paraparaumu Beach. Top quality restaurant in comparison to it's neighbours. Based on that experience I also bought a triple dip tonight.

I had the pork & vegetable satay. It was fresh, tasty & with lots of variety in the veges. The server was friendly & efficient. We didn't have a booking, but were lucky enough to get a table as the dining room was nearly full on a Friday evening. Parking available right outside or nearby.

This is my favourite Thai Restaurant. It is an easy walk from my home, which makes it even better. The Business is family run and this gives a very warm welcome atmosphere. The business has recently moved into these larger premises at 12 Maclean Street. The food is consistently good and flavoursome and many of my friends are also regular visitors. I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant. You won't be disappointed. A7 is my favourite on the menu and the mixed starter is beautiful..

Food is great, but don't expect to order a takeaway and arrive to pick it up. It would seem that they don't start cooking until after you turn up. So you may as well dine in. Sat for more than 20 minutes waiting for the takeaway that had been ordered 30 minutes prior to arrival. The restaurant side was only two tables, so being busy is not the issue.

This establishment is a tough one to review. The service was great. Friendly and efficient. I really enjoyed the food. Big, fresh flavours perfectly cooked. My concerns are over the atmosphere and pricing. They really need to add some sound absorbing panels or materials because the acoustics are so bright it gets very noisy. And I think the pricing is far too high. $23 for a main is up there, but rice is extra. The R1 rice which serves 1 to 2 people is a small and only really big enough for 1 person. So we ended ordering 2, which makes both mains $26.50 each. Mine was vegetarian and that's a crazy price for a veg curry. I think they'd get more people with better pricing! The food was still great! 😁

Came here tonight whilst passing through on our way home to Wellington and tried something new. Phad cha kreung? It was absolutely delicious! The restaurant was nice and inviting, and the staff were wonderfully friendly and attentive!

Food presented beautifully and taste wonderful. Front of house service very well informed with the dishes and her manner was excellent. Thank you for the fantastic evening we look forward to many more occasions to come..Mohi and Andrea💯

One of the best places for Thai food and service on the Kāpiti Coast. The staff here are super friendly, warm and welcoming and the food is authentic and delicious. Without hesitation I can personally recommend visiting Muang Thai - it's the closest you'll get to Thailand without leaving the Kāpiti Coast.

Like all good Thai places in my experience: understated from the outside, but delicious food on the inside. Don't judge this book by its cover, there are plenty of nicely priced, tasty dishes on offer here :)

We decided to stop off to grab some food and wait for the Easter traffic to die down back into Wellington. Food was pretty good! Atmosphere was a bit average.

Absolutely love the food! Best thai food ive had for awhile will definitely be going back. Excellent service. Slightly uncomfortable seats but a relaxing atmosphere.

A welcoming hostess ushered us into a well played out dining room where we enjoyed shared appetizers before diving into gastronomic delicacies. Such a great place to stop on a rainy Waikanae night

Awesome service and loved the dish I choose

The meal was fantastic, good size portions, looked great on the plate, service was quick and very friendly, would definitely go back to when in town.

This is the most expensive and poor quality of the 4 Thai Restaurants in Paraparaumu. The Tom Yum Khai is not nice and they charge $17 when other restaurants with a much better dish charge $9. I would rate this the worst of the 4 Thai Restaurants in Paraparaumu.

Best Thai around! Drove from Wellington just to eat here, and would do it again. The food was amazing, and the service was awesome. If you're looking for authentic Thai food then go no further!
The Pad Thai was the best I've had.

Will definitely be back!!!!

Me and my girlfriend regularly go to Muang Thai for takeaways on the weekend and occasionally sit in for a meal. The staff are lovely, and give you the best service! To top it all off the food is the best Thai food we have ever eaten. Highly recommend the Pad satay noodles, and if you like a bit of chilli spice, the Tom Yum Kai soup (B1) will make you sweat but is incredible!
Highly recommended! I made and account with Zomato and trip adviser just to give them a good review considering how well they treat us every time we go in. Outstanding!

Amazingly yummy curries, and superb service, always with a smile. Outstanding value for money.

Be sure to specify how hot you want to try your food, Saungkom (the authentic Thai chef) is a wizard with chillies.

If you have any special wishes, just ask Sirvilai (the hostess), and she'll make things happen.

My husband and I are regulars to Muang Thai.....first restaurant we bring our friends too.....this is the best Thai ever, service great, meals are good sizes, staff are lovely....fantastic meals!!!
We moved here18 months ago and this restaurant has to be one of the best we go to, always our first choice.....going there tonight

We eat here regularly and it is the best authentic Thai around. The meals are generous always fresh, consistent and good value. The service is also exceptional. Cant' say we have ever had a bad experience here. Best Thai in town.

OK, my wife and I went there sometime in 2012, probably about March.

Firstly, Muang Thai was the FIRST Thai restaurant in Kapiti. As such, they should have a good proportion of the market, if their food is any good.

So, like I said, my wife and I went there and ordered Takeaway. The food was average. Mediocre even. That I could handle, every establishment has their off days.

What I couldn't handle was that they charged more than the listed price. Something I hadn't noticed until my wife pointed it out when we got home.

Will. Never. Return.

This really is an excellent place to eat. We eat here regularly and it has never disappointed. Friendly, attentive staff that consistently deliver excellent food for a very reasonable price. I always have the seafood sauna, or the whole fish. I love the curry puffs on their entree menu too.
Kat
I have eaten here many times and never had a bad experience. The portions are generous, the ingredients fresh and even though sometimes there is a wait time for your meal it is definitely worth it. This is my favourite Thai restaurant in Wellington.

Definitely my Favourite Thai on the Coast
I have been a fan of Thai soups, and salads for a log time now, and the Muang Thai really serves a excellent meal.
The menu can be confusing as the final "Bill" often does not match the Prices on the menu in the window, and
there are 3 other Thai locally, but the Muang is my favourite,
A good choice for a nice meal out, and not too Anglicised

Updated,
Dropped in for a takeaway salad last night,
They have stopped doing Salads ! ? !

I am devastated,
Toyota !
Johnny
The best Thai food outside of Wellington period, authentic and generous portions. Outstanding cuisine.

The food at Muang Thai is outstanding!

I've experienced more than a few Thai restaurants in in NZ/AU and this is up there with 'the best' in terms of original flavour, presentation and quality.

A small, intimate restaurant with a very pleasant feel to it.

Definitely going again!

We have been coming here since Muang Thai opened several years ago and have always had wonderful food and simply unbeatable service. It is a small restaurant, and everything is cooked fresh so sometimes you have to wait, but it is always worth waiting for. definitely the best Thai on the coast. Their Tom Yum Khai is wonderful.

I recently celebrated my 40th birthday at the Muang Thai Restaurant. The food was incredible, the service impeccable, and the atmosphere perfect.

Such an intimate setting, a place you can enjoy as a couple or in a big group. You will enjoy everything about this beautiful place!

Thank you Muang Thai, for making my special day even more special!!!!

Absolutely delicious restaurant

LOVE IT!
I ordered my favorite dish, green curry and it was outstanding, especially compared to the Thai country kitchen house on Te Roto Drive, and also just as good as any other upmarket Thai restaurant i've been to.

The only thing i found was that the mediam was alittle too hot for my liking but man it hurt soo good.

great to finally have a more authentic Thai restaurant in Paraparaumu.
Pesi
Nice enough, would go again
Greg
Have eaten in and taken out several times-the wait time can be the same for both and phone ordering ahead seems to matter little.

The flavours of food are fantastic however portions are on the small side but with costs to match make Muang a good candidate for a good meal in or out to suit the budget.
