Review Divine India - Paraparaumu

Marcus L
A hidden gem of fantastic Indian food. All the usual offerings and a heap of less common dishes. I had the Black Pepper Lamb and Masala Paneer Naan - so good! Go on check it out and be adventurous!

Hands down - and I really mean this - by far the best Indian food I have ever had in New Zealand. Nothing compares. It is outragous to think that anyone would go anywhere else. Could not reccomend highly enough. Dharmesh and Rina cook as if they are cooking for a friend or a family member. Everything on the menu is A+ - their Chaat Samosa's in particular.
Jasmin van Lith
This place has the most delicious food! We now travel here whenever we want Indian takeaways, even though it's a much longer drive than the place we used to go to. Amazing flavour, and such friendly owners. The garlic Naan is the nicest I've had and we are obsessed with the samosa!
Aaron Cathro
Best indian in kapiti! Worth every penny! Great food and very friendly owners!
Dimitri Aliprantis
The best curry shop on the coast by far. Amazing food! Super fresh and so tasty. The owners Dharmesh and Rena have a true passion for their cooking and are always sharing on how they make their wonderful dishes.
Quinn Moffat
Our dinner from Divine India was GREAT. The smell outside suggested it would be good and we were not disappointed! We shared Paneer Masala, Samosa Chaat and a garlic naan. We are disappointed that we didn't order more!!
Priyanka Verma
Absolutely divine food! Its the place to go to for home away from home Indian food on the Kapiti coast. Have tried a variety of dishes from the menu and only seems to get better, its fresh and every dish has its yummy unique taste. So glad to have found our go to place for Indian food.
Daniel Brown
Man O Man O Man! I have nothing to criticise about this place, amazing flavours, great price and the wife and husband owners are the friendliest sweetest people i've ever met. 5 stars all the way, we make a special effort to make our way up just to eat the Samosa Chaat and Kachumber, the best things going! Definetly worth a try.

I have been coming to Divine India for about 8 years now and its the best curry I've ever had by far. I highly recommend this to everyone and once they have been here once they are grateful they have found the best Indian food available short of going to India. The owners/ chef's are very welcoming and friendly. The food is always freash and the taste of their spices are amazing. I highly recommend you come here yourself...you will not be disappointed.
Viv Holmes
The food at Divne India is always delicious, it's cooked with quality ingredients and flavours are wide ranging depending on your choice. They have a varied menu and offer some seasonal dishes that you have to try. . Customer service from Darmesh and Rena is fabulous, genuinely lovely people that want you to enjoy their food. This has been our go to takeaway on the Kapiti Coast for curry for years and we will not stop.
Erin
Amazing curries. I got a medium Chicken Madras and my partner got a medium Lamb Almond Pasanda. Both were absolutely beautiful, good quality meat and the perfect amount of spice (heat). It was our first time tonight and we will definitely be going back.
Kate Morgan
We had yet another divine experience tonight with our meals from Divine India. Honestly this shop in Kapiti provides the best Indian takeaways by far! Excellent authentic and always of such a high standard! Thanks for sharing your expertise on the Coast team. We love your food!
Peter Hislop
Have ordered curry takeaways a number of occasions and each time have not been disappointed. Large quantities and taste is amazing. Value for money. Owners are very friendly. Unable to fault and recommend.
Amy Parker
Incredible food, SUPER AUTHENTIC. Me and my partner get takeaways here religiously and refuse to get Indian from any other outlet, as nothing can compare in quality, flavour or spice. Superb customer service. TOTALLY worth it for the true tasting experience. You will not be disappointed.
CG Brodie
The beat Indian takeaway in town. We used to get our meals from them when we lived in Paraparaumu. We still get our takeaway from them sometimes. Their food is authentic and customer service is great. The owner cooks the meals himself.
Cameron Hakopa
Absolutely love the food. Tried most things on the menu and all of it was outstanding. Most authentic takeaways I've ever had, usually get 1-3 Curry's a week.
Brian Holmes
Always a great meal. Lots of tender lamb or chicken if you're into meat, and superb vegetarian too. Try once and you'll go back every week, like us.

Hands down the best Indian Food you’ll find on the Kāpiti Coast, our family have been regulars for years and highly recommend all the Tikka Masalas, Chicken Chatnad, Black Pepper Lamb, Beef Pasanda, Naan breads and Samosa Chaat, great dhal and chickpea dishes too.

Brilliant food, lovely husband and wife team (owners). As they cook everything fresh, with best ingredients, newbees need to know an order will take 30 mins or so at busy times. Can't rush quality - definitely worth the wait. (pre-order via phone best). Remember to take a bag as no plastic anymore (but you can buy a paper bag from them if you forget).

Hands down the best curry in Kapiti, (or the whole Wellington region, imho) - and we’ve tried most of the others! The food is so delicious and it’s obvious that the owners don’t skimp on quality ingredients. Plus, they’re very nice people, to boot. Do your self a favour and get some Divine India goodness soon and often!
Peter De Witte
Extremely rich flavours, really friendly chefs and quick service! Would definitely recommend.

I have been coming to Divine India for over ten years now and it is the best Indian takeaways that I have ever been to. I have travelled all around the world and never found Indian food so tasty. The people there are super friendly and if you have a special dietary requirement like Gluten Free, for example, you just have to let them know. The food is full of flavour and I am happy to say 5+ stars from me! - Natasha

Scrolling my Zomato I came across this Indian restaurant where all the reviews left by reviewers was five. Being mad for Indian food specifically Biriyani we tried to check this place out. We ordered a Biriyani and a Kandan chicken(sp?). Now the Biriyani was delicious, it was flavorsome and the addition of the roasted nuts provided a nice texture. The curry was indeed packed with coconut flavor, but we thought that it was just a little boring to be fair.

Unfortunately, I can’t give this place a five but this place is still one a solid Indian establishment.

Showstopper: Biriyani

Overall Grade: A-
Andrew
Easily the best Indian food in Kapiti, if not the Wellington region. Great taste and great service, at a reasonable price. Can’t ask for more than that!

Divine
India is an Indian takeaway establishment in Paraparaumu on the Kāpiti Coast.
It offers an extensive array of superbly cooked and tasty dishes that originate
from various parts of the sub-continent. About two months ago I posted a review
on another website asking why anyone on the Kāpiti Coast would want to go
anywhere else. There are currently seven businesses providing takeaway and/or
restaurant Indian food within the Kāpiti Coast District. In my view Divine
India is far and away the best of them. Put simply, I continue not to select
Indian food elsewhere. My clear preference has just been reinforced when I
hosted eight people from throughout New Zealand. All of them unilaterally
agreed that the food was superb. The cuisine at Divine India is equal to the
very best I’ve eaten in India during several trips visiting most states there.

I am yet to find a better authentic Indian food in Kapiti than this place! The spices, quality of the meat and vegetables used surmises the reason why myself and family rate their food so highly. We have always supported local and have tried many others but quality and consistency will always win for us!
Thank you for existing!
Ryan Franks
Outstanding Curry’s, would have to be the most flavoursome curry I have had, filled with big chunks of meat which is a big tick in my box. And not to mention the service of the owners was just brilliant.
Would give a 6/5 if I could.
Jonathan Engle
I don't normally review food, but wow! This is darn good Indian food! Probably the best I've ever had. And I lived in NYC for 15 years. The chef is so kind - she took so much care to gauge my tolerance for spiciness and explained the varieties of chili. She said "give me 15 minutes", but had everything ready in 10! Fantastic!!!

My wife Naomi and I have been going to this takeaway for several years now. I think I have tried every lamb dish on the menue and I am now working through the chicken and beef. They are all superb.
We always have 'medium' which is a little bit spicey but not excessively so. Naomi just loves the samosa chat.

We have tried other Indian takeaways but they don't come close.

Regards Steve & Naomi Radburn

Great little takeaway, very large selection of dishes_ quickly becoming a regular family favourite...
Good portion sizes and very flexible as to spiciness desired, try the 'hot like an Indian'.
Jo
Best curry on the coast by far! My family and I come here regularly, and we are never disappointed. Always guaranteed to receive top quality, filling food. Portion sizes and quality are well worth what you pay. The owners are very polite and friendly also. Would recommend Divine India to anybody looking for an amazing curry. Jo

Recently moved into the area and visited this place for the very first time. Best curry by far. The owner was very welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend 10/10

Not surprising everyone is reviewing at 5 stars - Divine India is by far the best curry I have had in New Zealand and I've had a few. I tried Divine India one day about 4 years ago and have been eating from there regularly. I have never had a bad or disappointing curry, Darmesh and his wife and son are always pleased to see me, chatty and happy, even when they are very busy and stretched (as they become more popular).

They always use good quality breast meat (for chicken), their sauces are tasty and full of flavour, and curries are nicely garnished with nuts and herbs. I've tried losts of different curries (although Makhanwala is my favorite) and they all taste different - not the bland standard sauce you get from Fijian Indian chefs at the other local restaurants. The Dinner Special is a perfect size for a hungry adult.

I think I've now recommended 6 or 7 people here and they all swear by it as well.

So, do yourself a favour and get those taste buds down to Divine India - you won't regret it.

Let me tell you a story.... a few years ago I happened to return to Divine India in order to buy my dinner. Sellotaped to the till was a $5 note - which the lady removed and handed to me explaining apologetically that she had mistakenly overcharged me. I was blown away! I have returned many, many times since and the food is always perfect. Meat is always tender and the meal is always just how i like it. The breads are better than anywhere I have travelled to and Divine India certainly lives up to its name in my opinion. This wee gem of a place is a credit to the family who own and run it. I really cant recommend Divine India enough.
Aaron Cathro
Best Indian meal in the country! great flavour, friendly staff! Its always the same flavour, never changes and always how I would like it! Thank you! :)
Deryn Groves
As usual yesterday we had a delicious selection of curries, delivered hot and ready to eat at our door - and enough left over for tonight's dinner. Many thanks to the family at Divine India for the food and service. We are working our way through the menu - last night we enjoyed chana masala for the first time; that was particularly good! But we have lots more to go.
Martin Neil Smith Powell
Absolutely the best Indian in the Wellington region by a considerable margin. Plenty of great options but if I'm hungry in Kapiti nothing goes past the Vegetable Makhanwala! Can't recommend it highly enough.
Ema Pomare
I haven't eaten a better curry anywhere else, true story, the food here is made with such heart and you can taste it. Favourites include the beef pasanda, chicken madras and chana masala garlic naan and lashings of raita. Highly recommended, truly Divine.

We are regular visitors to Divine India. They are always welcoming and provide really great Indian food to take home and enjoy. We usually phone our order ahead as we travel home and its always ready and waiting for us to pick up. Great food highly recommend you give it a try.
Amy Nelson
Divine India really is the right word, never had a curry that was less than mouth watering from here, in fact we usually order a couple of spares to pop in the freezer to save for later. My favourites are the Punjabi and Jhalfrezi, but I would recommend making your way through them all as they are all amazing!
Paula Gizzi
Divine India couldn't be more aptly named, they make the best curries I have ever had and would not go anywhere else for a curry after first tasting theirs, I go there once or twice a week and recommend them to everyone I know. Simply Brilliant.
Glen Cameron
Divine India is the best Indian food I have had...ever!!Darmish and his family provide such a good service we only go there for our Indian food. We you have such a good experience every time. My wife and I have been going there or getting delivery for years and the food has remained consistently amazing!!
We just had some tonight and the flavors are just impeccable as they always are. Our favorites are butter chicken, korma and we tried tonight a lovely lamb tika masala. Delish!!
Colin
We've been buying curries from Divine India since it opened, they are the best curries in the area by a country mile, the closest you'll get to English Indian curries (if that makes sense), the service is very friendly- so if you enjoy good food and service you now know where to go.
Karin Reid
Divine India's curries are always really tasty and consistent and we order from them almost every week. I would definitely recommend them! I am a huge fan of their Chicken Jalfrezi with a garlic Naan.
Brett R
The food is fantastic making use of top quality ingredients!

It is clear that a lot of effort is put into every dish.

I would recommend Divine India to anyone who appreciates a consistently great curry.

My favourite Indian takeaway on the Coast! Consistently great food, lots of choice, reliable delivery services. We've been customers for the last 3-4 years and have never had a bad experience. If they say a delivery will take an hour, it will generally be on time or earlier. And lots of gluten free choices - yay!

Divine India was recommended to me by a friend and I am so impressed that I now do the same and recommend to anyone to go there and try it for them self.
Every person who I have told about Divine India love it so much, that they now pass on that recommendation to their friends too.
This is take away only, but I am happy to get my fix and take it home for lunch or dinner, and I do that twice a week it is so good!
The food is so tasty and fresh and the lamb so tender it doesn't need much of an effort to chew, just very nice food.
I am making an attempt at trying everything on the extensive menu and have thoroughly enjoyed everything I have eaten so far:)
Darmish and Rena who own and operate this great take away are a very friendly husband and wife team who will remember you and what you like, and are happy to help you decide a lovely meal to choose from the menu to enjoy.

Without doubt, the best Indian takeaway that I have experienced in New Zealand and believe me, I've tried a lot.
Myself and my fiance visit them frequently for the following reasons: The effort that they put into every dish, the use of genuine herbs and spices, the variety, the level of consistency and above all, the service which Dharmesh and his family deliver. We have tried many of their curries and have enjoyed them all. I am particularly partial to their breads, in particular, the aloo kulcha or aloo paratha which is like a naan but has spiced potato in it...fantastic!
Malcolm Finnie
I thoroughly enjoy curries from this wonderful palace. It brings me back great memories from my time back in India. As I walk through those doors I get a waft of delicous herbs and spices and I am greeted by the lovely team of Dharmesh, Harsh and Rina. The curries are amazing and I go there every day. I love you Yadavs, keep up the good work!!!! 5 Stars!
Susan Rogers
Fantastic fresh, authentic and delicious food and very friendly service. What a pleasure finding this in Paraparaumu! Great menu with more than ample variety, and delivered promptly. We couldn't recommend it more. Five stars all round.
Ian
This has to be the best Indian takeaway food in the lower North Island, we have now been to Divine India six or seven times, and only once have we ordered the same dish twice( it was the butter chicken- and we only ordered it twice because it is SO damn tasty) each time we go, we are greeted by name at the door and our favourite accompaniments (breads, pickles etc.) are remembered too. We have had pretty much most of the really extensive menu, and have been really happy will each and every one of our choices. i am constantly amazed at the value for money that Divine India produces. the chunks of lamb in the korma that I had last night we incredible, large succulent chunks of lamb that just fell apart with a prod from the fork. I have no hesitation in giving this 5 stars, and I would give these guys more if I could. Awesome!

There isn't a lot of choice for curry connoisseurs on the Kapiti Coast...thank goodness for Divine India.
There is only one fault with this place... it is take-away only.
Most locals don't even know this place is here as it is tucked away on the wrong part of Kapiti Lights. (opposite the pharmacy)
I love my curry and the owners often recommend new dishes to try. They are all excellent. I was never fond of Jalfrezi in the UK, but Divine India have changed that too, it is fantastic. Their lunch and Dinner specials are good too.
Victoria
Love the service and everything on the menu, to my opinion definitely the best on the Coast. I'm hungry now, salivating..
Sam Douglas
Decent enough fare but nothing really special.
Have yet to find an indian take away/restaurant in Kapiti that rivals the mighty Garam Masala in Johnsonville :(
Brenda Baker
Just ordered lamb rogan josh and chicken kadaai. The chicken was fabulous but unfortunately the rojan josh was full of gristle and chewy so most of it was thrown away. The garlic naan was excellent.
Richard
Just ordered from the Divine India for the first time, and wow! really really excellent food. I could taste all the different ingredients in sauce for my Achaari Lamb, including the excellent tangy bitter Indian pickles suggesting the sauce had been made from the ground up, not just a standard curry sauce with a few different spices thrown in. Truly excellent. I will be back.
Rachel Hunt
Great food at a great price. Highly recommended!!!! The best indian on the coast in my opinion.
Daniel
Went there for the first time recently for the excellent price. The food was great and very promptly made. Highly recommended

Have gone from 'trying' to making sure I have it every week , thanks to Dharmesh and the team . Always get it delivered as the service is great . Totally recommend them and suggest you try a different flavour regularly

If you're wanting an authentic Indian takeaway, with an extensive menu, I recommend Devine India. The flavours & aromas tell you it's the real thing. They include dishes you can't get elsewhere plus new ones get introduced from time to time. Having eaten plenty of good curry in the UK, I appreciate all these things.

They are also well located for hungry commuters & Dharmesh & family provide top service.
Steve
I have been getting my Indian Takeaways from Divine India ever since it opened. I wouldn't go anywhere else and look foward to my weekly visit. I have introduced my adult sons and they are as impressed as I am. The food is authentic, great tasting, consistent with large portions and best of all inexpensive.
Together with the friendly husband & wife owners, what else could you wish for !
Sam
One of the best. They always remember you, and when you order an 'Indian hot' Vindaloo, they will give you a side of chili sauce just incase its not hot enough!!!

Awesome!
Wendy
i would say Divine India is the most tastiest take -away dinner i have ever had, have had it quite a few times, always consistent good quality, in a word
DIVINE
