Review Canton Inn Takeaways & Restaurant - Paraparaumu

Very nice place to get either fish and chips menu or Chinese menu options

Prawn and combination fried ried rices. As a bit of a combination fried rice connoisseur, having tried this dish all over the country, I can gladly affirm this dish from Canton inn is arguably the best I've had. The prawn fried rice was also amazing, full of large succulent prawns. Will be traveling from palmy for another fried rice feed treat in the near future.

Lovely place to get your Chinese cuisine, I regualry get the chicken fried rice thats so filling it usually lasts a good three feeds. They also have dishes cooked and changed out front. I like the cashew nut chicken meatball. The staff are so kind and friendly. Wish them the best for all their good efforts.

Hands down this is Best Chinese in Kapiti. The couple here are very friendly especially the lovely lady at the front. Their service is fast as well. 100% recommended

Visiting from Taranaki & have struggled to find authentic Chinese takeaway. These guys delivered in spades. Three dishes ordered, packed with vegetables & very tasty. Highly recommend.

Cheap and cheerful good quality Chinese meals, with generously-sized takeaway portions and prompt service. There's a dine-in restaurant area that offers both smorgasbord and meals from the menu. Plenty of nearby parking too.

Great selection of food.

How these people continue to present great food, with very good standards and quantity with value for money is an example to other restaurants and take away places

Ate off the smorgasbord again last night. Always a great service. Always good variety and the quality of the food is something thats sets Canton inn aside from all the other chinese restaurants and the Wellington region.

Amazing food, could not fault at all. Such polite and experienced staff that were happy to help with any changes, amazing service and would definitely recommend.

Horrible tasteless goop. The chicken chow mein I got was tasteless, it was cooked in this weird goopy sauce that tasted like nothing but salt. There was also hardly any noodles, was just full of veggies. I ended up rinsing it and re-stir frying it at home, desperately trying to make it taste like something. Avoid this place if you are expecting fragrant, flavourful Chinese food.

Was told to give this place a try for some "good" Chinese Takeaway.... The service was good, quick and friendly and the pricing very reasonable. However, I ordered the Chicken Fried Rice and the Sweet and Sour Pork and friends got the burgers. The Fried Rice lacked any sort of flavor and had a very small amount of chicken, sweet and sour was under cooked so batter on the pork was a slimy mess - not very nice at all which was a shame because the actual sauce was ok.

The burgers - not entirely sure what meat was used in these but they were greasy and tasteless and contained a slice of processed cheese. Would not eat here again as there are better options available on the coast.

Great friendly service. Really nice food, and huge portions. Pork Buns are to die for! Definitely worth a visit and we will be going back.

Canton inn sits opposite a liquor outlet and the mad butcher in a row of fast food outlets (kebabs, pizza, pastry) on kapiti road, paraparaumu. It wasn't my idea, I was acting on instructions - Chinese take-aways from kapiti road.
It is obviously a take-away and restaurant with plenty of tables. Not overly ornate but it has the standard golden cat with one paw raised, red and gold posters in a script that could be saying anything and one of those glass pictures - this one of a waterfall - that doubles as a clock, barometer, and currency converter.
Standing in front of the fluorescent menu board we decided on five dishes for six people
Roast pork egg foo yung
Ginger beef
king prawn chow mein
Sweet and sour pork
Combination meat with cashews
....... And rice

In retrospect this was probably enough for nine or ten people.

A very friendly Asian lady took our order. After us a guy on a mobility scooter came in and gave his order. The lady was so nice to him and when his food arrived she brought it out specially and opened the door for him. When ours arrived there was s bottle of soft drink tucked inside - gratis. I wasn't used to this sort of treatment in the big city.

I also couldn't get over how cheap the dishes were - $80 for a meal for ten people! A sign under the menu board said it all "dinner buffet - all you can eat with tea or coffee and chicken and corn soup - $15.90."

When we got back to family and friends it was obvious we'd over ordered but no matter - everyone agreed that for a Chinese takeaway it was very good food and very good value. There was plenty of meat and plenty of prawns where they were supposed to be and the flavours were nice and not overly sweet. ... Except for the sweet and sour pork. I think you can gauge a cafe by its poached eggs, a restaurant from its rare fillet and a Chinese restaurant from its sweet and sour pork. I dissect a piece and separate the meat from the rest. How much fat, meat and batter? Some are almost all fatty gristle, few have a high meat content. Canton has little fat, a small piece of real meat and a rather dense, savoury bread-like substance surrounding it. It tasted ok though.

Good, cheap, lovely service, tasty - recommended if on the coast.

Food can be a little greasy but overall very nice. The price is spot on. Smorgasbord is nice too and well priced. The curried potatoes are surprisingly delicious!

Lovely little Takeaway and Restaurant. The food is so flavourful, the staff are really friendly, and all you can eat for $12.90 is cheap!
