Review Lyn's Cafe - Parnell

the food is absolutely amazing!!! we have been Lyn`s cafe many many times with my friends and family and had never disappointed. they have a variety of delicious fresh food and always innovate new dishes. I have to say "surprise salmon" is reaaaally impressed me. I never thought it can be so beautiful. my partner ordered the "beef pasta". he said the beef is so tasty and melted in mouth. He told me that he will definitely order this dish again. one more dish I`d like to recommend is "prawn taco". It is 100% "must try" one. the staff is warm and nice to us all the time. they always smile and polite to any customer. Highly recommend to all my friends. Trying Sunday brunch, I`d love to come to Lyn`s cafe.

Husband and I came looking for a place to have breakfast, not knowing about this place we were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful this place is. I had the eggs Benedict and hubby had big breakfast, absolutely delicious, and the home made hash browns are the best. Totally recommend you eat here.

Fantastic Cafe. Will keep coming every Sunday after church. Overall, the cost and result of what was presented was very good. Very happy with it. Enjoyed my Big Breakfast. Fantastic balance of everything. Perfectly cooked eggs. Generous bacon! Really appreciate the bacon. Great tomato and mushrooms. Nice toast. Cool hash brown, was nice with toast and eggs. Really cool salt and pepper shakers. The mechanism and performance of them is fantastic as well. 6 However, I do have improvements to make it the best big breakfast in Auckland. Slightly cold food, bad sausages, don't use precooked sausages. Better to charge $3 more and use chorizo sausage, even if smaller. Could add tiny bit of butter cube. Eggs poached are moist enough. Drafty toilet door. Create solution to keep door closed. Add a tiny bit of maple to the cooking of the bacon. Mastering this is a real standout move for cafes. Wife suggested that you need to change the way you are cooking your eggs. She said they taste like fake margarine or something. You need to use butter for this. Even if this increases cost by like 50 cents it's definitely worth it. Despite room for improvement, it is still worth it. But you could be one of the best in Parnell with these improvements. Right now you seem like a good value but low quality. If you improve your quality slightly for little increase in cost you will be the best cafe.

This was a nice little cafe, they had a good selection of food that was reasonably priced and with good portions. It was a nice place to stop for an afternoon meal.

Cost place for breakfast , normally quiet, friendly service. Gets the eggs perfectly done right every time.

I had the best berry smoothie! The attention is very good too...nice and polite.

the vinegar paste used on the plate then placed the breads on top of it is not the best choice for the eggs benedict it made the entire food tastes awkward.

Please look at the picture of the big breakfast. Cheap bacon and cheap sausages not to mention BURNT hash brown. I mean come on now. You’re in Parnell, do better. But my hot chocolate was hot. Mince on toast was lacking flavor and not very nice. But i ate it as i need something for my iron. I used zomato gold with no problem but golly that meal was awful! I could have gone up to Biskit and spent my money on a better meal. Im sorry this is a no for me.

17/11/19
Revisited the cafe, unfortunately they don’t do pasta or risotto anymore.

Ordered an egg benedict and chicken salad. The egg bene was standard. The chicken was a little tough but had some good seasoning. Their cheesecake was still very delicious.

Service was consistent. But I probably won’t revisit again due to the switch in menu.

****

A well understated cafe. Located conveniently on the lower end of Parnell Road. Lovely ambience with normcore interior.

The sautéed prawn & scallop risotto and the garlic prawn & sausage pasta was divine. The risotto is rich and creamy with a scent of basil. The scallop is nicely seared and juicy. The prawns and sausages are excellently spiced and the pappardelle is very chewy.

Very good price to value, fresh ingredients and decently portioned. There were heaps of large prawn and scallops in our dishes.

Their cheesecake was also amazing, rich with just the right amount of sweetness. Nice flat white as well.

Excellent service. Super friendly and attentive staff.

Would definitely revisit!

Taste: 10/10
Presentation: 7/10
Service: 10/10
Ambience: 7/10
Value for money: 10/10

Price $25 per person

Went there on a sunday morning for brunch and we were pleasantly greeted by one of the staff at the door. Within seconds we were given the menus and served water at the table. The food was great! We ordered mince on toast, eggs Benedict and a big breakfast. They happily swapped grilled tomato in the big breakfast to more hash browns at no extra cost. Will surely be back.

Nice environment and friendly service. food was decent but feel very homemade, nothing too exciting that makes me want to go back, especially many other options to eat in parnell.

We went here for lunch today and tried the hot chocolate, big breakfast and smoked salmon fluffy omelette. The drink was good. The big breakfast and omelette was a bit disappointing. There was only a few pieces of salmon in the omelette, tho the tomato relish tastes quite nice. Hash browns tasted like the watties tri brown that i normally make at home. Food was average. Ambience and service was pretty good though, with a highchair provided for my baby and a small plate offered for my toddler. It is more of a 3.5 rating.

Went there on a Saturday morning. Food was pretty average. Staffs were attentive. Ordered the salmon surprise and I got really surprised by their food! Hahah never expect that i would get a salad bowl w/ smoked salmon at all. House made Pasta w/ bacon in creamy mushroom sauce was scrumptious!!
Rachel
Average. The food was nice but in comparison with the price it was average nothing very special about it. Plus the service could of been better, wasn’t the friendliest and considering that it wasn’t very busy could of checked on us with our food and offered us more drinks.

I ordered a bacon and mushroom pasta for the lunch. The pasta is homemade and u can choose original pasta or spinach pasta. Lots of people in the cafe but I didn’t wait for a long time. The food came out with good presentation and great portion size. The sauce is creamy, pasta is just cooked perfect, and with lots of bacon and mushroom in it. Definitely worth the price. Will come back and try other food. By the way the service is quite nice. All the staff is so friendly and the environment is nice as well.

Came to catch up with a friend and it was the awkward time, between Christmas and New Years. So, our choices were limited but we settled on Lyn's Cafe. Got a good spot in the shade outside and got menus promptly. Took a bit longer to take our order but no dramas. I ordered the "nachos bowl" and an ice coffee. My friend had the Cajun Chicken burger. My nachos bowl had the smallest amount of beef, sour cream and avocado. It was mainly corn chips but more broken up chips or crumbs. I certainly felt a bit ripped off. At least my iced coffee was good but it came half through our meal. My friend said the chicken burger was pretty average. To be honest, I'd give Lyn's a miss and go elsewhere.
