Review A1 Roast - Petone

I love this shop. They have a massive range of food. I honestly know of no other shop with such a range. They have all day breakfasts, fish and chips, cakes, chicken (pieces and southern style), Indian curries as well as full roasts and roast meat and salad sandwiches. The food is always fresh and delicious. They also have extra crackle available which I have not seen in other roast shops. When you ask for something to be left out of a roast meal they offer to replace it with something else. The service here is great. They are fast and friendly. Always pleasant and they apologise if food needs to be cooked (if you order chips they are cooked fresh when you order of course). They have eat in and takeaway. The only drawback is the cost. A medium roast is around $15. Worth it for the convenience in my opinion.

I've tasted quite a few roast meals around the country and in pubs and I think this place does the tastiest roast pork meals. Their gravy is delicious and has the right amount of salt, crispy and tasty potatoes and generous amounts of pork and crackling. Don't add mixed veges it just waters down your gravy.

Its my first time to dine here. It's the closest place I can take my hungry daughter. We just ordered the breakfast menu. The pancake was good. Generous serving, clean and friendly staff.

The reason I like this place, it’s because I like the roasts here and It’s better than around Lower Hutt. I came here with some friends over the Easter, their roasts are freaking good. The pig skin is really nice and the meats are juicy 🤤. I will be fat soon. Haha 😂 I definitely come back here again when I get student loans. 😂👌🏻 #studentlife

Great breakfast, decent size big kiwi breakfast which was yum and good for value. Good service! Havnt tried the roast but will definitely come back 😊

Very good value, generous servings. Very basic food , but served promptly and place is clean. Delivers basic food well.

Awful! I’ve been here a couple of times now as I thought maybe the first time they were just having a bad night - The potatoes and kumara weren’t cooked properly each time which was super disappointing when you get extra of them only to find them all hard in the middle and not cooked through properly and the meat tastes like it’s been sitting in water or something and has little to no flavour. Let down every time and won’t be back

Such a good meal and good service. I saw one of their staffs were helping some elders with their meals, This is what I’d called good service. I’m coming back for sure.

I just splashed out after a long decision on what to get for dinner and decided on a lamb shank with a garlic bread. I have got this before and it was nice, this time however it was like it only just started cooking, pulled and cut away at it, gross to say the least, could only eat bits of it. what a horrible waste :( the veges are always gross which sorta kills the meal but the gravy and potato is always good. Ive had the chips once and they were soggy and underdone, I dont think they know how to cook.. Stick with their pork sandwiches and you cant go wrong! The one thing that is always delicious :)

I've been here for a few times now, they have Pork, Lamb, Beef, Chicken and Lamb Shank. Comes with Small, Medium or Large size. They also do burgers and breakfast too. <br/>I'd recommend for Roast lovers, you guys should try their Pork Roast. The crackles are perfect. Oh yeah they're making their own gravy (homemade). This is the best Roast in Petone.

i been here 6 months ago and it was real bad <br/>so i thought i would go back and boy i was surprised <br/>the beef is now pepper beef orgasm for my mouth really really good<br/>the potatoes oh yeah <br/><br/>have to take a point of for the following portion sizes are small could be bigger $14 for beef 2 potatoes 1 koomra 1 pumpkin and they hadn't seasoned with a little bit of salt and they would be perfect now the veges were lacking the salt but the meat was really good flavour can taste the beef and the gravy its super good <br/><br/>ordered takeaway got home no cutlery or serviettes no problem but if u want a picnic or eat in your car should ask for some <br/><br/>so would i recommend this place to anyone looking at this review <br/>YES!  from me thats a go and get it your self its really good

The best roast I've had. The meat is soft and juicy. But I wouldn't mind to have mores. :) please let me know if there are the best ones in Petone. Sorry i just moved to welly, didn't know much shops. ✌🏼️

After having a great experience and another "roast takeaway" i thought it would be good to try the local place down the road, terrible mistake.<br/>Meat is extremely watery with the temperature worrying as its pretty much cold. The roast vegetables were soggy and to be honest really bland. I am pretty sure that there was more gravy on the plate than there was actual food to put it with. <br/>The service is appalling i was actually shocked. If as much time was put into the food and the delivery that is put in to dropping everything and standing over the till gazing at the next customers money this place could be good. When ordering my meal i asked for none of the boiled carrots or peas as they weren't looking the freshest. When my meal was completed and just waiting for the plastic lid to be place on a customer walked in and was gazing at the menu the woman who was serving my meal chucked my meal to the side and waited eagerly for the money to come out of the new customers wallet all the while i watched my meal getting colder and another server coming along and layer my meal with boiled peas and carrots. A new meal was requested which wasn't taken very well shall we say. For the 2 secs it would have taken to put a lid on my meal (as the new customer was actually reading the menu) and passed over the glass station, its very sad that the new money of the new customer was more important. Please note there was a total of 4 people in the takeaway and 7 staff working
