Review The Barn - Picton

We heard the roast and steak was good and it sure was! Roasted pork with very nice veggies and the steak was tender and done to perfection as ordered. Reasonable prices, good decor. The manager made us aware of a warriors game that was on and a couple of louder punters on our arrival. Most left soon after the end of the game. Friendly service and good knowledge of local beers shared by manager. Compliments to the chef for good, hearty food.

Wow! Amazing restaurant. We walked past a few times today and I was keen on the seafood platter. We then asked a local what he recommended and he said here as well as the owner of our hotel. Amazing service, friendly staff. The food is incredible. If you like seafood definitely 1000% recommend the seafood chowder and seafood platter! Will be back and recommend you to everyone 😀❤️

What a warming place on a cold Picton day. Amazing slide show of old photos of the area. Great atmosphere. Good range of meals if you are hungry, and good coffee 🙂 Nice to chat with the owner. Thanks for your hospitality Blair. Will definitely return on our next visit

We ate here twice in our short 2 nights stay at Picton. The deco of the restuarant is interesting, taking us back in time by looking through the collectibles from decades back. They even play a video of the history of Picton. I personally love the seafood chowder. It is packed with loads of seafood goodness and the base is creamy and smooth coupled with their garlic bread. The next will be their white wine mussels. In fact I enjoyed all we had there.

Had a traditional Xmas dinner there for kapa haka. Food was very good. Had my 70th birthday there and the food was exceptional as was the staff. Blair, the owner, was a top host and I highly recommend.

My wife and I went on an airplane tour of the sounds and then went to lunch. On our tour we saw mussel farms spotted throughout the sounds. So, when I saw them on the menu I knew I had to try them. They were excellent! We also tried the fish and fries and they were very good as well. Highly recommend this place!
