Review Peppermill Deli And Cafe - Porirua

Lovely place. Staff friendly. Food was delicious and very fast even though they were busy. Coffee was delicious as well. Highly reccomend!

Well I think I am probably going to end up with frequent flyers for this place 😂🤣😂🤣 3 times I went last week and the food was delicious every time. The service at the counter was spot on and table service was also pretty awesome. I think with the table service they could probably be a bit more aware and try to upsell a bit more i.e if people are still there after they have finished their meal maybe saying “would you like another drink” or bringing water over to the table as soon as people sit down. Just really small things and obviously not something that would stop me going back to this lovely cafe.

Super delicious cake and coffee was amazing but not welcoming staff who served me

The food was really good and the service was amazing, so quick! But we were really let down by the milkshake… tasted powdery and was very thin, for $10 was very disappointed but if it wasn’t for that it would’ve been 5 stars.

Best cafe by far in Porirua. Eaten here multiple times and always get THE BEST results. Staff super friendly and quick to serve/seat you - ensuring you get ur meals/drinks on time and leave before the ever growing queue that lines up. I'm sure out of towers love this joint to. Food - delicious! Breakfast menu is full with choices and flavors that my kids love. The food cabinet - an array of great selections. I honestly can't fault Peppermill for anything other than trying to get in some days due to always being full. You guys should be proud of the service, hospitality you deliver👏🏾😄 thank u so much! we are always satisfied and happy whenever we dine in here. Highly recommend.

Pork belly pie from the cabinet while flavorful, was a bit dry, same for the 3 mini slices. Sausage roll was delicious, one of the best I've had! Our drinks were yummy too.

Amazing spot. The food was super good & the staff were so friendly & accommodating. I have food allergies including coeliac’s disease & they were easily able to support this. My colleague is deaf & they communicated well & even learned a couple of signs so that was lovely.

I've been looking for my new favorite cafe and I think I found it! Staff had great hospitality and the food came out so fast and was absolutely delicious! I will be coming here every weekend now for my regular coffee and breakfast!

Fantastic place to come for breakfast. Is usually quite busy on the weekends so you want to try get in early. Only downside is there are limited street parks outside.

I just searched for deli near me that day for work lunch and this cafe popped up. The vibe and food is very similar to the earlier cafe that I used to work Bordeaux Bakery at Thorndon Street. I ordered the petite lemon tart, spinach and feta quiche with a fizz lemonade because it was such a sunny day that day. My husband ordered scone with butter, salmon and potatoes and coffee. The service was smooth, our food came on time and the staff were following all the covid protocols too. Yup would love to go back again for some brunch. Good place, very busy though.

One of my favourites.... gets busy at lunchtime but quiet and great atmosphere for a quiet chat other times. Great food, (little expensive) but really nice.

We stopped by for brunch and were pleasantly surprised. The decor is relaxed and the staff friendly. We both enjoyed the meals. They were generous and tasty! The coffee was good too :)

A bit if a wait fir a seat if you don't book but we'll worth it. The food is delicious and staff friendly. Atmosphere great. Options on seating and child friendly.

A friend and I grabbed lunch here today. She is a regular; it was my first time. I had the salmon eggs benny with a side of avocado and a vanilla bean milkshake. I like my salmon smoked and uncooked on a benny, so was disappointed that it was cooked, and overcooked at that. The vanilla bean shake lacked any vanilla flavour - it just tasted like full cream milk. The selection of cabinet food was amazing, but very expensive. I'm not likely to drive all the way to Porirua just to go here.

We visit this place quite often when we’re in Porirua.
We love the coffees and the vibe there.
The staff are friendly. Be sure to pop in early on a weekend as it gets quite packed for breakfast
Ella
Lovely food, and was really busy when we came in but we were quickly pointed to a table in the corner. Service from there was a bit slow - we were given menus and water when we sat down but took a while before the waitress checked on us- however when she did she was wonderful and knowledgeable about everything! Will definitely come again next time I’m in Wellington! :)

My wife and I came here for breakfast
Very busy here and very friendly staff but our meal took only 10 minutes to arrive
Very nice and the coffee was great

Very nice place. Has a good vibe about it. Went here for breakfast, not going to lie i wasnt the biggest fan of what i recieved, but its always a risk trying somewhere new. Would go back just to try something else.

I've been here a couple of times now and my last meal there was a vegetarian breakfast.

Service has always been excellent. The place is usually busy when we dine in and we're always happy to wait.

Had Mothers Day brunch there as well and the entire family loved it.

Honestly love this place! The food is pricy but 100% worth it!! And service is just the BEST!! No words describe how good everything is! You have to try it for yourself 😁

Great service and food . Had the big breakfast which was hot..makes a change from other cafes I have visited lately..my eggs were slightly over cooked. ..but over all compliments to the chef . Did notice front of house staff didn't wipe down tables after dinners left and next customers sat down..not a biggie...but overall we enjoyed 😊

Waiting time is awfully long and by the time the food gets to the table is pretty much cold. Insanely busy and stuff are not really attentive.
M Zelma
Friendly staff, I only go here when me & my daughter feel like waffles, husband had a scramble egg breakfast tasted like processed 😮, busy place

Went there for a quick brunch.. took over 40 mins for food to come out. Cold poached eggs and hard unripe Avocado on toast. They were good enough to take my meal off the bill when I explained how I couldn’t eat my meal. Cafe was only 1/4 full I would hate to know how long it would take for my meal if it was packed. Been here a few times in the past but it’s definitely gone down hill.

We went here for desert after a meal in Wellington, we shared a chocolate moose cheesecake with berry coli with a turkish rocky road bar WOW WOW WOW YUM YUM YUM we will be back

Two stars because the coffee is adequate. Slow service, dark and gloomy inside (which is probably helpful as it hides the lack of upkeep). Food is average and overpriced. Ladies toilets hadn’t been cleaned properly for months the day I visited (dried dirt on the walls and floor) and the chipped paint and rundown look truly demonstrated the level of care taken at Peppermill: as little as possible. Not many cafe choices in Porirua City Centre, but this is one to avoid.

Great service and variety of food. We had our xmas work dinner here and the girls on that night were awesome. Really recommend the vegetarian option for breakfast - im not a vegetarian but its my fave!

Conveniently located across from Te Rauparaha Arena, Peppermill is a nice stop before an event. 5 of us went there for a drink and something to snack on. They have a cabinet full of delicious desserts (creme brulee, brownie, pie etc) which I couldn't resist. My friend's brownie was yummy but the popcorn was a random element.
Christian
Good cafe in the town centre with tasty food. They have a good selection of delicious cakes too. My chicken sandwich was nicely seasoned and well cooked.

One of best spots in Porirua for brunch and coffee. Nice and friendly staff and comfortable seats. Good selection of food as well as spacy interior. Very clean toilets too. Used to be my weekly spot for brunch.

Between so good to excellent.
Jess
i love the food here, only (small) issue is that the portions are quite small. the staff are friendly and welcoming too. best café to go to in porirua.

Went there for brunch today. Ordered a bacon and egg panini from the cabinet and a flat white.
Both came out quite quickly and tasted great. Service was fast. Staff were friendly.
Really nice experience which didn't take up too much time.
Will definitely return to try something from the menu.

Food - 7/10
Coffee - 8/10
Price - 7/10
Service - 9/10
Ambiance - 9/10

Would I return - Yes

It was beautiful sunny day, thought of going out for little munching. My husband placed the order, he ordered hot chocolate, flat white coffee and waffles with raspberry compote and whittackers ganache cream.

We easily got the nice place to sit near the window, cafe was fairly crowded and staff was pleasing and friendly, I liked the decorum of the cafe.

My husband and mum got their hot chocolate and coffee in like 7-10 minutes while I had to wait for my waffles for next sweet 15- 20 minutes but I got another variety of waffles which my hubby didnt order... We had to ask the staff to change the order as by mistake they gave us wrong order which the waiting staff did happily, so I was glad by their prompt action n voila I got my waffles in 5 minutes... I found waffles a bit pricey as compared to its size n toppings.
Well I would love to try their other variations but not this one again.. sorry about that!!!

I have been here a few times with friends for lunch. Nice atmosphere, always seems busy which is great. Chicken pesto pasta is so good and the burgers tasty and large. The only downside is the food is way overpriced and the last time I went service wasn't very flash and never received the water I ordered.

Brunch today while the wagon was having an alignment and tyre rotation. Flat white and a Hot Chocolate plus Scrambled eggs with a side of streaky bacon x 2. Happy with everything, there's a bit of cabinet food by the till which was pretty tempting as well, especially the fresh baked scones.

Amazing place to go! Always have so many good food choices and the coffee is great 😄👍I always bring my dad in when he comes to visit! You're his new favorite.

My husband and I have just had a lovely meal here. Lovely staff, food and wine . The place was lovely and warm, one of the few places to have Crockery made in UK. I find that a real treat . Thanks !

Popped in this morning after my session at Jett's to get my usual fix of awesome coffee and got given a Thank you Xmas card and Rocher Choc's This made my day huge smile on my face AWESOMENESS.

In the whole time that I have been coming into your cafe I have never had a problem.
Staff are AWESOME food EXCELLENT you guys should be proud of your selves and pat your selves on the back, and now that you are opening in the evenings that's even better, hope to bring my Husband in there very soon as we have just reached our 25th wedding anniversary which was on the 15th of this month.
KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK
PS (NEVER CLOSE)
Helen Collis

We went here for their new Dinner Menu. Awesome Service and Great Food - will be back again! Staff were very friendly and there was a nice atmosphere.

I enjoyed my hot chocolate here and the Lemon Cake on a rare Sunny Sunday. Friendly service took a bit of time to get the drinks out but they were quite busy. Nice place if you need something other than fast food.
The Mad Diner
Used to be a nice place but now it is just overpriced and we always feel a bit ripped off when we go there now. They never could really make a good coffee but their eggs bennie used to be my fav.
Poppy
Great friendliness on the day I visited at the weekend. This rating is for the service and coffee.
The manager of the day was very efficient and friendly and other wait staff were also working with a smile. She also made my coffee and it was great. Good atmosphere.

On all occasions we have visited as out of towners our food has always been tasty and nothing less. The coffee is very good. The decor very cool which was the main drawcard for for our first visit and had the venison steak burger with handcut chips ?
The only drawback which seems to be evident with other reviews is the wait. If I didn't enjoy the food I wouldn't return. Hope this is or has been sorted.

Went for lunch. The food was good ... once it finally arrived. The service was terribly slow. Had to stand in a huge, very slow moving line. Ordered $70.00 worth of food wine and coffee. And waited. And waited. First the wrong cakes arrived and still no coffee! I would happily have spent another $50.00 on more wine and coffee while I waited for the food but there was no service available and I refused to stand in the line again. Well over half an hour to wait for lunch is not acceptable in my opinion.

Visiting Porirua I went alone to this café for brunch. I ordered the big breakfast, cappuccino and a carafe of water.
The cappuccino arrived within a decent time but was in a glass - no bother - it was done well. The food arrived after a reasonable wait and it was a huge helping but very hot and I enjoyed it. This was a very busy and popular café judging by the amount of people dining here.

I went into the Peppermill the other day and I have to say I was thoroughly impressed. I ordered the Calamari and my partner ordered the Lamb Salad. Both were absolutely divine and were worth every penny. The coffee was also really good, I don't normally like Mojo but the young man behind the machine did a fantastic job, nice and hot and well presented.

They have changed the way they serve so everyone orders at the counter, while it is not great in terms of having to get up and pay every time you want to order something, it seems to have solved the service issues people commenting have seemed to have in the past. Overall I would thoroughly recommend the trip out to Porirua just for this experience

Reviewing the food. I had a rocket and beetroot salad. The beetroot perfectly cooked seasoning done very well, fast and efficient service just delicious salad.

Have been here half a dozen times or more and food is well presented and tasty with good portion sizes. Staff are friendly and efficient. Had no problem ordering and receiving our food. Nice classy place to hang out in with friends and/or family. Thoroughly recommend it!

The service was no service at all and the food was very disappointing I would not recommend it and I would not be going back they need to train there staff better.
Had a salmon roll took 20 minutes to get it saw them taking something out of the roll then when it finally arrived it had been toasted i did not ask for it to be toasted wondered if it was yesterdays when i said why was it toasted the only reply was it always is they did not care i could not eat it. It was horrible i said to the girl in charge when it was time to pay again about how i could not eat it no offer to take anything off it. It was my fault for choosing it.

Friends and I often visit this lovely cafe. I find pre booking prevents having to wait for a table to become available due to its popularity. Friends and I have always found the food is well presented, good portions (large and "very filling"), lovely array of flavours (we always try something different when we visit) and we have not had to wait longer than 20-30 mins for our orders. The only comment we would like to make is that the lovely young staff may require further training in customer service i.e. smile and greet customers as they enter and when taking orders and if for some reason there is a delay in delivering our food to the table, then please inform us....effective communication is the key to a successful business. Perhaps the young staff may require further support from working alongside an experienced staff member who could oversee and direct the staff to ensure customers are happy and being served on time, or if customers are unhappy with their meal customers have an opportunity to discuss this and this improved customer service will prevent any problems from occurring.

This was one of the first 'better' cafe's I found in Porirua.
Food is very good (eggs bene is my fav) however service is very slow - something they need to work on.
SJK .
Visited for a Sunday brunch. Walked in, first question "are you here for brunch - yes - you know there is a 30 minute wait for food don't you - well no we've just walked in!" No good morning, no hello, no how is your day going?. No pleasantries!. Ordered drinks, three of us wanted tea. They'd run out of tea pots so could only give us two...."let us know when this one is finished and we'll top it up". We were given little flat white/espresso mugs for our cups of tea. When I asked for a tea cup i was told there was only one....this despite seeing a number of tea cups on the coffee machine. The bowl of cappuccino was delivered in a juice glass. To their credit the food did not take the 30 minutes. It was okay food, nothing to write home abut. I'd say what is missing in this place is some friendly faces - especially from the berista , some interest in the customers and effort in good dining etiquette. Wont be back.

A nice place to meet up with friends for a coffee and a bowl of fries. The seating and decor is modern and comfortable. There are 3 highchairs which is great for families and changing facilities in the handicapped bathroom.
My only grumble would be that the staff are not particularly enthusiastic and don't really go out of their way to be helpful or friendly.
Emma
Have been here twice, the first time was awful. Very over-priced, food cold and not at all tasty. When complained was told I was the only person to have ever complained. It was unsatisfactory. I decided to give them a second chance a few months later and was just as disappointed. The food was slow, cold and not that good. Would not recommend!

On a cold and wet Saturday morning with some time to kill, Peppermill was our choice for breakfast. The sleek decor and furniture would be comfortable at breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks. Our service and food were reasonable, although the pancakes were slightly rubbery and my bacon was very greasy. Washed down with a strong coffee (Mojo), Peppermill is a good value meal when using an Entertainment Book coupon.
Margaret
Lovely food, reasonable service, prices a bit too steep though
Robyn-Jane
One of our favourite places to eat. No place is perfect all the time, although, we have no serious complaints.
Terry
Went once and found the food really good, went again with a family group and found the food (fish of the day with bok choy) really awful and couldn't finish it, mentioned it to the owner, who told me that I was the only person to ever complain about that dish and that everyone else raved about it. She also said she hoped it didn't put me off coming back. I will say that that dish may not have put me off returning, but her response to my issue definitely did! I will never go back. An example of bad NZ customer service.

I am a regular visitor to peppermill and have to say the coffee is my number one reason for going!! The brunch food is enjoyable and the service is good also. My only gripe would be that i feel that they need to have a larger selection of "shelf" food, cakes, biscuits sandwiches etc
Kayne
The peppermill is quite a new establishment and has a variety of many different dishes it seems to be one of my favorite places there are i am thrilled to announce that the pepper mill has great service and is good with the food 4 stars well done

i have been to Pepper mill a number of times in the past few months and can tell you there food is delicious! Eggs Benedict especially. Sometimes the service is not always as consistent as one would hope but the food always is.

Absolutely Delicious
