Hadn't eaten at Ruby's for a while since Covid and their change of ownership/management. I had brunch there with a big group and I was very impressed with the service. The waitress managed to get all of our orders right and remembered what we all ate when we went to pay. I had a mix of the veggie and big breakfast and it was a very generous portion size and very yummy. Coffee was good too 👍

Lovely café. Delicious food, generous portions. Staff awesome

Wow! So much food, and so delicious! We stopped by in Level 2, so had the usual Covid restrictions, but the staff were great, friendly, and efficient. I was unsure between the "Fry Up"and 'the big breakfast"; I went for the Fry Up and was not disappointed! It came out really quickly, it looked good, and tasted great. I also went for an iced chocolate which I didn't realise would be the size of a miniature Empire State building! Needless to say it to was amazing with loads of ice cream, cream, and chocolate! I can recommend both of these. We'll be back again.

Really good coffee, very good portion for $5.00 coffee locally The cabinet food was pretty interesting as well with lots of keto slices. This is a sausage roll and a quiche

Good kiwi breakfast 🍳 Coffee was awesome as well. Request to chef to make some improvement in their sourdough bread.

Big breakfast and coffee. Breakfast was huge and tasted great. The in store made beans were not for me. Good coffee to.

Mid-week brunch, so the cafe was not busy. Fantastic service from Cassidy, she was welcoming, friendly and efficient with a great smile. A real credit to the cafe. Fabulous hot coffees delivered within minutes, and highly recommend the rosti lunch stack, it was delicious. Worth being patient at busy times, just like most popular cafes.

Under new ownership. Consistently great coffee (during the week) when main staff are on. Friendly service and a clean cafe. Excellent cafe.

5 of us went for lunch on a cold day in August. We found it warm. Atmosphere was good.
Service was excellent. Food was very good and delivered in a reasonable time. Restaurant was full. Highly recommended.

One would hope when one buys a date scone that there'd be more than 1 date in it...yes? Very disappointed in that scone! However, the lemon yoghurt cake was pretty good. Unfortunately we got hassled endlessly by cheeky sparrows and a loud seagull on the guttering! Coffee-average...more oomph please!

Great coffee, excellent service, and a really good location (options to sit inside or outside, in areas with great atmosphere or quieter spaces). Highly recommended!

Enjoyed the food and service. I highly recommend getting sweetcorn fritters. It didn't take long to get our orders. Very cozy and clean place. It's a good stop over on your way out of Wellington.

Although their food is good if you enjoy a good coffee Ruby's is not where you'll get it. My last takeaway coffee took 20 mins to be made and when it arrived it was not what I ordered but a mochaccino instead. No apology was given and the replacement was slow. Thinking I had caught them on a bad day we tried Ruby's again recently. My coffee arrived via an unsmiling waitress who banged it down on the table. After I removed the pile of oddly flavoured hot chocolate powder off the top the coffee had no taste or smell of coffee at all and tasted like hot milk. Ruby's coffee is very poor and I won't be wasting money there again. Service and coffee needs to be improved. Will stick to my favourite local cafes where the coffee is excellent and the service is friendly and efficient.

Saw this in my cafè search online, and as its only about 12kilometres away, thought I'd give it a go.
Great little cafe. Ordered coffee and cake, and it came out within a few minutes. Friendly staff too.
Will behave again for a breakfast next time.
Coffee and cake excellent!!

Good food and excellent coffee, nice variety of food from the menu or cabinet. It is very popular even during the week. Service is usually very good and you can takeaway food and coffee.

Two of us visited Ruby's on a weekday lunchtime and the cafe was packed. We were seated in the plastic outside space, where the wind cuts your ankles off, due to the gap at the bottom. Coffee and food orders were taken quickly, even though they were obviously rushed off their feet which was good and the orders arrived promptly.

The coffee left a lot to be desired, no crema and quite watery, lacking oomph! I ordered pancakes and every head in the place turned when my plate made its way to my table. There was a tall stack of four, tea plate sized pancakes with berry compote, marscapone and a puddle of maple syrup. I would have preferred the syrup to be in a jug on the side, but hey ho. I couldn't finish the plate, despite giving it a good go.

My friend had the Ruby's big brekkie which was great in every way except for the sausage. It was so salty it even had extra grains of salt clinging to the outside of the sausage. Much too salty to eat and sitting in the outhouse, we couldn't grab anyone's attention, so let it slide.

First time to Ruby's after it being recommended and we were not disappointed. Extremely busy cafe that was near full but we were seated straight away, water provided and order taken within 10mins. Both my husband and I had the open steak sandwich and it was to die for, steak was cooked to how we asked, the flavours all worked and the salad was divine (hubby not a salad eater but he couldn't get enough of it). We have not had such a enjoyable meal like that in a long time, we will certainly be returning customers

A great place to eat, the pancakes are the best!!

This cafe's food is should seriously be considered as some of the best cafe food in Wellington. As I live in the area if friends are out we usually bring them here over the pepper mill or cafe vella. Easily best restaurant in the region.

As far as their service, expect lots of young girls but the food more than makes up for it.

Pancakes and BLT are especially good. Breakfast food in general is their strong suit.

Have been to Ruby's quite a few times but this was the last time, sadly.
We like the fact that out-of-control kids are asked to leave; paying for a dining experience shouldn't include piercing screams and table leg kicking from the next table over. That's a definite plus.

But today, my chai latte came in a chipped glass (rim) with a spoon standing up in it. No saucer, no serviette. Too hot to hold so I had to go and get my own napkin. Spoon placed onto table. Hubby's flat white was NOT flat white, too milky with no crema and he left most of it.

And what's with the girls and their underpants!!! The girls are young and pretty and that's great, but do we have to look at their nickers? And it's every time we've been. Today we had the girl with the low riders and the pink lacy pants which showed 2 inches above the black trows. Last time it was a G string in all it's glory, which was truly disturbing.

The food was OK but I think we've done our dash there.
Management, take note.

We live in Wellington City but love to come out to Ruby's for brunch at weekends.

Staff are friendly and food is excellent. Highly recommend.

Hubbie and I have been going to Ruby's for like years. We have now moved to Wellington but still travel to Ruby's for the Great food, great service the best-est ever coffee) at least once a week

Me and my girlfriends used to travel all the way out from Lower Hutt (waterloo) just to eat at Ruby's!! The staff were great & the service was superb. We poped over for a meal a couple of weeks ago & were all very upset about the new girl that works there (pretty girl, but no manners at all!!)
Just a little advice for the manager, if you want customers to come back. You may want to think about who you have hired as we will not be returning and other fellow colleagues who have also been there.

SLOW SLOW SLOW!!!!

Whilst the food is good the service is not. Perhaps the lack in experienced staff doesn't help!

25mins until coffee arrived! 50mins until Lunch arrived!!

This has happened quite frequently at Ruby's...definitely need to work on systems!!!

I pop into Ruby's at least once a week for a coffee and sometimes a meal. The food, coffee and service has always been great and I would, and do recommend it to others. They do great breakfast/brunch meals!

I wouldn't recommend taking young children there as they have a zero tolerance for noisy (normal) children and I have heard from a few people that they ask you to leave if your kids are too loud or playing up. Fair enough I guess when others have come for a quiet coffee or meal but not great for families who want a meal out.

Overall a lovely, well run cafe with great coffee & food- just leave the kids at home! :)

I've been coming to Ruby's for a while on my day off. I've brought my in-laws, my toddler, and just myself occasionally.

The coffee is EXCELLENT. And I find the food to be really really good. Had breakfast there with my toddler and the pancakes were delish!

The service is good (they try to please customers).

Sidenote: Obviously the owners have a theme when hiring staff — all the floor staff are women (girls) seemingly under 20, attractive and uber-thin. So, its a bit weird when you walk in, there is a bit of feeling like you're at auditions for NZ's Next Top Model. Maybe hiring some normal-looking people would change that....So that's a leeeetle bit creepy but doesn't change the good coffee and good food.

The waitresses were very quick to seat us and take our orders, very polite. The slight gusts of wind almost broke the Patio umbrella. I ordered steak medium rare, though it didn't come out that way. The aioli was missing which was disappointing. But the coffee was great, and everything else was satisfying. I would like to think it was just a muddled up order. I will return to test that theory.

This place rocks! The food, the service, the staff all make it the best in the area.

Love the coffee and always found the staff to be quick and attentive. I know if I had a problem the owner would sort it immediately.

Go there .. you'll love it.

The food, the coffee, the smoothies, and staff are always fabulous, food comes out quick, gorgeous presentation. Busy little place. I love it. Fabulous value for money.

We waited for 50 minutes for our lunch after ordering. The waitresses were quick to take the order and apologised for the wait after about 30 minutes. The food looked great when it arrived but the plates were filthy so we didn't get to taste it.
