Review Columbus Coffee - Porirua

Robyn Jones
Came in on a busy Sunday and had the lady behind the coffee machine serve us with a beautiful smile and did not hesitate to fix our order. She was tall, tan skinned and had lovely makeup I think her name is Jenie. We had ordered food from the cabinet which arrived cold but was fine as we saw it was a very busy Sunday. Service from staff was haphazard but we enjoyed our coffees. 7/10

Delightful delectable food, great service. Atmosphere is average as it's very noisy. And people had dogs. Apart from that would go again because the food is fantastic 😍

Great atmosphere for a coffee & lunch. With the mitre 10 plant section right next to it gives it a great vibe and has a small enclosed playground for kids. Good cabinet salad selection and coffee (even though the roast isn't the best). Great spot that I go back to regularly.

Coffee is really good, service and food was really good too. This is our favourite Columbus cafe especially for the food.

Person serving us could have been more friendly however, food was excellent best in a long time 😊😊😊

We had a bad experience with some omelettes, but all was resolved and we are happy with the result. Thank you for the service!

Had lunch at the cafe, busy place on a Wednesday. Constant queue of people coming in. I had a very nice capuccino and the brioche French toast. Was great.

Food and service is perfect each time. Have been here a few times and love it

It was very busy but still a very long wait for food which only needed to be heated. When it finally arrived it wasn't overly hot, but going by the time it took to arrive, decided not to complain and wait even longer. Tasted nice, but would've been better if heated properly.

Great food, service and atmosphere attached to Mitre 10.

Good coffee and suitably fast service given it is level 2. Appropriate distancing too. The photo shows tomato and capsicum soup. It was yumo.

This is one of my go to places when catching up with friends. There is something for everyone on the menu and I have never left dissapointed. I do miss the granola/muesli option they used to have on menu but I have enjoyed working my way through the rest of the food choices and have enjoyed every thing I have tried

Very clean tidy and very pleasant staff On our way from Waiarapa to Levin -certainly the place to stop 🛑 Thankyou

I enjoy visiting here as it's handy for parking and local. It is also not too noisy so one can talk and comfortably catch up with friends.

I didn’t like the coffees or the service.
Coffees were served cold and the staff were not friendly. Probably won’t go back again.

For more follow @wellymunchers on the gram

Thought i would check out Columbus as Ive had a previously good experience. Unfortunately it wasnt to be. The food sounds great but not so good when it arrives. My grand daughters hotcakes were microwaved and overheated as they were rubbery, my omelette was a soggy mess and inedible. Please get your staff to smile as well - it seemed the line was an inconvenience. Maybe it was just a bad day but bad days cost you recommendations and business!

Great range of cabinet food on top of a tempting menu.
I had a chicken stuffed crepe from the cabinet. It was heated perfectly and absolutely delicious. A small salad garnish would have been nice but still a lovely meal.
Special diets are well catered for here too.
Family friendly also.
Highly recommend this place.

Friendly service, always pleasant to talk with.

Playground really needs an upgrade however and staff don’t clean the tables enough.
All in all we love this place

Had a great afternoon tea and loved the pork and fennel sausage roll. Staff attentive and kudos for making a new fluffy straight away for the poor toddler that spilt her fluffy on her way to her table.

Really busy place especially in weekends and can be quite hard to find a seat/table. Awesome that they support new mothers and encourage them to come to the cafe to socialise with other new mums.
Also fantastic that they have an indoor playground which caters for toddlers and small children.
Last time we were there is had the steak and cheese pie which although a bit pricey at $7 it was really good and the tomato relish it cam with was the perfect condiment.
Coffees are also good here and staff are very pleasant.
Great place to also grab a takeaway coffee from and browse through Mitre 10 for home improvement products.

Food - 9/10
Staff - 9/10
Ambiance - 7/10
Price - 7/10

Would I return - Yes

Ordered cabinet food, a pumpkin soup and three coffees. Coffees and soup were served right away but the crepe, kumara and tart took 20 min to come. I came to the counter to check and they apologised right away for the delay and served our remaining order a further 10 minutes later with free coffee cards.

we've never had a problem dining here and all meals have always been consistent. if i had to nit pick, then it would be to clear the tables alot faster than they currently are. portions are huge, so even I struggle to finish my meal. we love this place and recommend to all.

Whilst not setting out to be negative, I could not believe the sneaky 'milk' add on to the price of a good, honest cup of English breakfast tea. The tea at $4.50/cup was definitely a little on the high side, but with the extra dishes to wash up I guess it justifies a charge around the same price as a flat white.....but wait for it!!! A further 60 cents if you want milk with your cuppa!!! So all in all $5-10 for your 10c tea bag, a little hot water and 30ml of milk.....you are taking a liberty Columbus...why not advertise your tea at $5.10 with a 60 cent discount if you take it black....which not many people do!!!! Most people don't even know you do this, and if they did, like me they will go somewhere else from now on!!!
