Just divine. We came here just for the buttermilk cheddar scone and oh boy was it worth it. Crispy outside, fluffy on the inside, this humble scone is not to be underestimated and lives up to its reputation as the best scone in town.

This place is always a treat. The view and atmosphere is worth it, and the food and service are always wonderful. Serving sizes are generous, and cost for the volume of food is good value. I was pleasantly surprised at the beverage list, great range and the quality of liquor and cocktails for a local Eatery is really nice. Not just function or venue location, although the upstairs and private dining area would be great. I am excited for the warmer weather to enjoy the beverages outside in their courtyard or bean bags. This is very family friendly, and I would recommend booking as it gets busy fast!

We found out this place was under new management (same owners as Seashore Cabaret in Petone) and needed to try it. Would definitely recommend- the manager was so friendly and accommodating to my friend and I with our (gasp) 7 children. He didn’t flinch at the amount of children and made us so welcome and comfortable there. The food and coffee was delicious also. This location is so worth the 30min drive for us - stunning views in a beautiful homestead. Will come again and again and again :)

We had a great afternoon, very relaxed atmosphere and the beautiful weather made our day perfect. Venue was amazing although the decor was "interesting" but lovely, the food was delicious and fresh, 100% loved the fish ❤ the team served us with excellence. Dave Roache, thank you for your generosity & kindness towards us we really appreciate your support. Highly recommend if you need a beautiful space and great food for your next event, Dave and his team are exceptional!

We had a family brunch at Gear Eatery yesterday to celebrate a birthday. The car park was full so we wondered if we might be out of luck but despite being busy the staff were warm, welcoming and efficient. A table was found and our orders taken. The food and coffee were great. What an asset it is having Gear Eatery in Porirua. The best views in the city and such a great cafe.

We had a wonderful meal at the Gear Eatery and Bar on Saturday night! Attentive service, delicious braised lamb. Such a gorgeous venue. We'll be back for lunch, dinner and maybe even breakfast if we get up early enough. The menu is family-oriented, so our grandchildren will enjoy a treat here, along with a wander around the grounds. Top notch! Congratulations to the new owners, who have got the right mix for this stunning site.

Lovely views...splendid on a sunny day. Wish there was more of a range in the cabinet, as the food is delicious. Great that the kids have an area separately, and lots of parking

A week after opening I had a table for 5 booked, however extra whanau turned up. Even thou they were completely booked, Gear E&B still managed to find room for us. All front of house staff were fairly new to the job however they seemed to cope really well with the extra people. Food came out within a adequate time and everyone made nice comments on their meals. I loved the fish and the red wine...thanks for the recommendation.

Great place to enjoy a meal or coffee. Food was delish, staff were really friendly and weather was amazing. Great place to take kids with fun outdoor activities and so nice to be treated to Easter eggs for the kids. We had a wonderful family lunch highly recommend. 🌻🌾

A really nice place. Was very busy and staff were doing their best. A great atmosphere, delish coffee and the best bacon and eggs i have ever tasted. The view was spectacular as well as the setting. It's definitly a place worth going to.

Really nice. A mix of colonialism, 50s, 60s, nautical, and art deco 😆 Nice views of the harbor, nice gardens, nice staff, it's just a "nice" place. I would imagine Summertime it will be awesome as it has a nice outdoor area for eating and drinking as well as a big play area with lots of trikes for the kids and some bush walks.👍💗 A great place to support in an otherwise culturally barren place like Papakowhai 😆👍💗
