Review Curry Leaf - Pukekohe

Sharon W
Nice layout of restaurant with gorgeous art decor. Friendly welcome. Good service. Affordable meals that were tasty. Food was served hot with plentiful meat portions in the curries. Nice presentation of naan in baskets.

Our food was fresh, delicious, warm. Just what we were looking for after a few cold days.
Hanlo Reyneke
I'm always impressed by the food, definitely my goto for curry
Denise Massey
Nicest Indian I've had for a long time. The Balti chicken was superb, naan light and fluffy, service great, reasonable prices. Thank you for a beautiful meal Curry Leaf.

Seated straight away, tried seafood mixed platter and butter chicken very nice food, didn't have to wait too long for food, great service.
Joanne Tseng
Food here was good. The tandoori chicken was tender, moist, with the charcoal flavour. Nothing was really too spicy for us.
John Carter
Good Indian food. Service was a little slack on the night we were there
Larus Dominicanus
Very good, competitively priced restaurant. Quite possibly the best Onion Bhaji I've ever eaten. Crisp, almost no oil.

We ate at the Curry Leaf last night and were really really impressed with the quality of the food. It hardly took any time for the food to arrive. It was well presented and completely delicious. We both had chicken curry ordered to Madras hot and it was perfect. The naan bread was so light and buttery. Fantastic thank you.

Consist in quality and quantity of serving 👌 Restaurant appears clean and tidy....would like to see prepare and cooking areas for cleanliness. Extensive menu. Lamb dishes absolutely yummy

Food was good as well as the service. The interior wasn’t good at all. If the interior was improved with more modern decor this place would be much more enjoyable but it’s really a place u just want to takeaway.

We have eaten here twice in the last week and we love it! The food is excellent and service is friendly and fast. The banquet is really good value for money. Ambiance and decor really nice. Fully licensed and BYO. All in all a great place to eat out with plenty of parking right outside the door.

Phone order, takeaway: Person who answered was friendly, helpful. Food was ready on pick up, food was delicious and tasty exactly what we wanted on a friday evening. Price is reasonable

Been coming here for about a year, food is good is what kept us coming back but service and now ultimately price that seems to go up everytime I go back - Iv had enough I certainly wont be back. Good luck keeping customers with this type of attitude.

We came here for dinner on Tuesday for a joint birthday. We booked a table for 12 at 6.30pm. All arrived on time and very hungry!

We sat and waited for a waiter, unfortunately none came. The waiters seemed to be serving other tables who were seated after us. After 20 minutes we had to go up and asked for someone to take our drink order.

We placed our food order at the same time. Unfortunately our food took an incredibly long time to come out. We asked when it would be out as we had 4 children with us-and were told 'it was coming'. No time frame or anything. One of us then had to go up again and ask when it was coming and were given the same vague response. Eventually our food came out at 8.20pm. Almost 2 hours after arrival. We were offered no apology, no explanation and no proper updates when we asked. The Service was really lacking and very disappointing.
The food was nice, which is why I have given a 2 star rating. However due to the lack of service, and the wait we will not be returning.

Very dry plain chicken . I phoned them to complain, staff did not seem interrested, very dissapointed about the responce.
My husband phoned them to seem the same attitude.

Staff here are really nice and the curry and rest is really good for the price. I recommend dining in because it's. A really nice experience if you want a nice night out

Top restaurant in pukekohe I like this restaurant because of good food and good nature of restaurant owner puran singh. Staff is very helpful and customer service is mind blowing. Highly recommendation to all visit this place.

A few vegetarian options, but the food is very salty! Standard portions & free rice with meals, but not much flavour. Way better off getting takeaway from The India in Tuakau!
JC
Customer service is not too good.
Food is just okay. Although when I last ordered a paratha, they gave me a roti.
Nothing really special just a typical Indian restaurant.
Hood Rat

This has got to be the most disgusting tasting curry I have ever had!,.after eating many currys over Africa this has got to be the worst tasting curry that I have ever had the displeasure of passing over my lips, I will never ever support this place ever!!!!!

Absolute scum mate. I don't care how good your product is, you're running a sweatshop. Willing to make a fortune by any means necessary. You've now been exposed. DISGUSTING!!!!!

Am quite disgusted by how you treat your workers...whats worse is its your own ppl!!! Wake up youre in NZ not India!!! Stupid GREEDY PEOPLE all you care about is money!!! And i bet most of these 5star reviews are family 😒
Brad Vidovich
Bad service, not friendly and will never ever be back after the report on the news now about workers I thought it had great food but I did not feel well the next day. Do not go there
Chris Burnside
Great food and service, love the butter chicken! Great portion size and the mid week main special makes it very affordable. Would certainly recommend to freinds!
Nina
Curry is so yummy. Spices are yum and sauce is not creamy and too much.
Prices reasonable and decor inside is beautiful. Had lamb masala, lamb was soft and tender but not soft it falls everywhere. Cheese and garlic naan yummy by itself; not too much garlic and bread isn't thick like mall types. Yummy Indian in pukekohe and service was fast.

I love Curry Leaf, haven't been in a while but I use to always order the Chilli Chicken and I miss it, it was so yummy. Should start going again ☺

curry leaf is one of the best restaurent in nz, i had experienced awesome taste seems like eating in india, perfect blend of spices. each and every dish which i had
tasted was ultimate. apart from this, the staff in curry leaf are very freindly and lovable. we can easily imagine that we are having our lunch and dinner at home. they easily mix up with every customer. the service which they provide over there is very fast and good. they are not like other restaurent who always tell thier customer to keep waiting. they provide food in proper time. so last but not least i would like to suggest everyone that try food in curry leaf solely at once i bet you guys you will fall in love with it taste...
i've been in curry leaf many time get proud to say i never get disappointed with the food... it was very deliciouss... curry leaf was and always will be my favorite indiann resttaurant the food which they serve completely fresh and hot... i would recomened all people to visit in curry leaf at once and i gurentee that you guys wont get disappointed ... 😋

The best Saagwala I have ever tasted!! Make sure you place your takeaway order well in advance on their $10.00 night as the wait is generally upwards of 30 mins. The boyfriend also raves about the Tandoori Platter!
GeeGee
Once rated you guys highly.. now the pricings have increased, food tastes like crap.. naarns have shrunk, and containers are not as full as you used to do when doing your best.. I just hope your staff are being compensated out of this overinflation.. the bad atmosphere is now tainting your food.. You need to lift your game, not drop the ball!
Lisa Reynolds
Curry leaf is my favourite curry in Pukekohe. Always hot, always tasty, the naan is always fresh. Waitresses are lovely and polite. Must book if you want to dine Monday-Wednesday on $10 night, the takeaway portions are always generous.

Have always found their food to be just right for a person who has a dicky stomach. The mild & medium curries are delicious & the price is not too expensive.
Sandra
Good service Good food , nothing to complain about. The food was delicious and everyone was happy with there meals. We had the $10 curry and rice so no complaints with either price or portion size as both were good. they always provide amazing service and delicious food . i would highly RECOMMEND this place to everyone .

Such a good restaurant/takeaway best curry dishes in the world, service is 10/10. Went here for a birthday treated us awesomely. Food is quick and great not waiting for 30mins+ even when really busy would definitely come back and I will keep coming back 👍👍👍

This places seems to get mixed reviews. For my part, I enjoyed eating from Curry Leaf. It was Saturday lunch and we got $10 lunch meals. The meal arrived in time and the service was at expected level. The curries were less coconut cream-heavy and with stronger, authentic Indian spices, which suited us perfectly. Would visit again if I'm passing by Pukekohe and fancied a good lunch.

The best Indian I have ever had. Only ever got takeaway so can't comment on the in house service but pickup staff are always nice. If there is better Indian than this I want to know.
T Smith
Good service, nothing to complain about. The food was good and everyone was happy with there meals. We had the $10 curry and rice so no complaints with either price or portion size as both were good

Nice little restaurant but food was very bad. Had to return some dishes and 2nd time same poor quality! Also the price was too high for the portions. Service from waitresses was good but Won't go back!!
Larissa Denton
We regularly get takeaways from here but really love to eat in as well. Lovely ambiance, friendly staff and a multitude of dishes PACKED with flavour!
Folcarelli Stephen
Was impressed with the great service. Naturally it quiet as it was a Monday, but the food was still a hit. Had the Lunch Special - Chicken Tikka Masala, one of my favourites and as always impressed. I must say the manager (Lady) was great as well. Well done to the team
Aidan Quinn
Called them and made a phone order, they said it would be 30 minutes as they were busy, understandable however I got there 35 minutes later to be told it would be another 15 minutes. So I sat down and watched the girl behind the counter flirting with a customer for 15 minutes, do some work! 50 minute wait for 2 curries is not good enough, my first and last time at curry leaf
Holly
Lovely cuisine, great atmosphere. The service is fast especially considering the amount of people have been present when I have been there. The staff are always friendly and very polite!! :)

Delicious food, delicious food, delicious food. This pretty much sums up Curry Leaf in Pukekohe. I should also add that the staff are always friendly, the restaurant although small is always super clean and has a great ambience, the $10 meals at lunchtime are terrific value and that we have never had a disappointment here whether dine in or takeaway. Wonderful.

Don't normally eat Indian food but found their meals to be really tasty and not to spicy. I am a North Shore resident & was invited by a friend to join her friends for an evening out. Would recommend anyone to try their meals. Price wise is good and not expensive.

We had dinner last night, service was terrible. No one greeted us on arrival. Food wasn't bad. Not satisfied. Not recommended to anyone.rubbish
We aren't often in Pukekohe but were meeting a friend from down the line and it was a good middle stop, we decided to meet for dinner and Curry Leaf was a pick out of the blue as our friends favourite Chinese didn't do sit in.

For a stab in the dark restaurant he did pretty good. From Monday-Weds they have $10 curries which was a bonus for us!

We ordered some beers and starters to get us going, Onion bhaji and Pakoras were our pick. The bhaji was delicious and really nicely cooked to be super crispy - yum! The Pakoras were nice but very spinach tasting rich - while I know they're full of spinach i've never had Pakoras that were quite so rich. Again, these were cooked to be nice and crispy on the outside too.

We each ordered an curry, Butter Chicken, Paneer Tikka Masala and Chicken Kolapuri. All of the dishes were very tasty, not very spicy (even though two were ordered medium and one hot). I ordered the paneer and the pieces were quite large and a bit dry which was a bit disappointing.

The restaurant itself is set up nicely with lots of well presented tables and plenty of indian paintings/art on the walls. There was nice music that wasn't too loud or overbearing which added to the atmosphere and experience.

If you are after a somewhat cheap eat in Pukekoke that provides good amount of food thats tasty, give them a go.

Ordered take out and was very impressed, great mixed platter and the butter chicken main was rich with great flavours.

We regularly have eaten at the other two indian restaurants in Pukekohe and have been disappointed of recent so I think the Curry Leaf will be where we eat from here on !

Well done team

Great staff and great food. Best curry meals I have tasted and at a good price. This place can get busy but it doesn't stop me getting their lovely curry meals take-away style on occasion. I have recommended this place to all my friends and it has become our families favourite Indian restaurant in Pukekohe. Nothing can compare to their service and tasty food.

Best Indian Restaurant in Franklin.
Happy staff, always stock my favorite Indian rum.
Great food and service.
Sarah
This is by far the best Indian Restaurant in town - unlike the others they don't 'water down' their curries for $10 lunches/$10 dinner night - something I've noticed about the other places: the flavour is really lacking like they've added a bunch of milk to stretch the sauce out further.
Curry Leaf do NOT do this and everything is PACKED with flavour - the Korma is a favourite of mine, sooo creamy.

They do the whole range from mild butter chicken to super spicy madras.

The staff are helpful and friendly, the ambiance is quiet and lovely. I recommend the banquet meal - you get a taste of everything and it's a good price for 2 people.

We have three young girls who are all very fussy eaters. Curry Leaf is the only restaurant where all the girls love the food and eat well. The service is spot on, attentive but not intrusive, and all the dishes we have tried are excellent.
Joanne McCreanor
We went here last night and just as well we booked because it was packed.
The waitress was lovely and the food arrived quickly which was great as we expected a bit of a wait as it was so busy.
The portions were a good size and the food tasted lovely.
It is the best Indian I have been to in both Papakura and Pukekohe.

What a fabulous restaurant! It doesn't look that good from the outside, but when you walk in, the dining area is nicely laid out and it's warm and cosy.

The staff are friendly and the service is good. The food? Excellent!

The bill came as a pleasant surprise, too: not expensive. I'll be dining here again.

Rob and I went to Curry Leaf on Tuesday evening - The food was delicious and plenty of it - Staff were very friendly and helpful - We will be returning often and recommending to our friends - Thank-you for an awesome dinning experience
Ngaire Rollinson
Excellent food ( plenty of it ), great wait staff very friendly, all for a very reasonable price, couldn't have asked for more, the butter chicken was my favourite., I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone :)

oh my god. We have boycotted a certain restaurant in in Pukekohe because it feels too industrial and thought that we should try Curry Leaf. What a pleasant dining experience and they are ever so eager to please! The wait staff are bubbly and appreciate your custom so much. Thank you curry leaf - a tender delicious meal!

We have ordered takeaways from Curry Leaf in 2011 after reading the reviews on Menumania. To be honest I thought the reviews were too good to be true but we gave it a go.
They had a good selection and we ended up getting the “banquet” so that we could try lots of different things.
It was SO GOOD! The service was also excellent. I would like to go in there and dine in one day as it looked so flash on the inside!
I can be quite scathing if there are things not up to scratch with cafes and restaurants, but I have absolutely nothing to complain about. The butter chicken was REALLY good, but everything was equally as delicious.

August 2012 - I have been in a couple of times this year for the $10 lunch and even though you are not paying too much, they still are very attentive. You get so much food as well.

Curry Leaf in Pukekohe is in one word excellent.

Prefer to get my Indian from here rather than any of the other places in Pukekohe. Never had a bad meal, staff are so friendly and willing to help! Butter Chicken is a personal favourite. Highly recommend to all!
Harriet Smythe
Best Indian i have had in Pukekohe, The butter chicken is a personal favorite but others are just as good, the service is great and they are all so helpful - i have never had a bad meal there and I always walk away having over-eaten.

People are saying this place is the "best Indian in pukekohe", I will challenge that and say this place could be the best Indian in AUCKLAND.

Food is ALWAYS of outstanding quality and very very fast.

100% satisfaction guaranteed.
Keith Eades
Have eaten there many times and had countless take-away's never fails. Best Indian restaurant in Pukekohe without a doubt !
Adrian Tocker
Excellent Indian - best Indian in Pukekohe by far. Plenty of variety and can provide some good advice when looking to try something out of the norm. Decor is not fantastic but quality of the food is great!
