Review Cafe Kaos - Pukekohe

Retta Mnz
Was the 3rd place we checked out the menu for on our visit to Puke. For me, the service got the first stars! The lady (didn't get her name. Pink hair though!) was so inviting and non-pretentious or pushy. I had the French Toast + hot chocolate and wowwww... highly recommend this retro-setting joint! Awesome #ChefsKiss 😙👌

Great kooky place. The back room is so cool, feels like a great place to have a drink. Lunch was delicious.

I cannot speak highly enough of this cafe. The food is delicious, great portions and fresh ingredients. Friendly staff, great pricing and doggy friendly outside :)

The brunch is very delicious and the staff are so so so so friendly!!
Rebecca KEENAN
Just had lunch arrive 25 minutes before closing and Chef agreed to cook off menu so that was a big plus in their favour. Both meals were really good and filling and coffee meets my tough expectations. Cost $$. Staff pleasant and welcoming.
Christine
Met a friend for lunch here. Great food & coffee, a little slow on service but didn't bother us. Love the kiwi theme with colored chairs and retro lamps, decor.
Jeffrey B
Really nice food, very good service a bit of a wait for the food but they were super busy and so did well to get it out that quickly. Nice atmosphere with records as wallpaper and little toys as table markers. Highly recommended.

Excellent foods and service Best egg Benedict in town Me and my partner been coming here recently every weekend because the place isn’t “discriminate” and for that we like to support them. Everyone is welcomed here. No matter if you vax or unvax. If you have pass, you can dine in; if you dont, you can takeout. As simple as that. I’m vaxed and I hate the whole division thing.

Fabulous cafe in Pukekohe with an awesome atmosphere. The record sleeves on the ceiling and walls brought back many memories. Loved the paintings on the wall too.The cheese and chutney scone I had was delicious too
Christina Barrington
Best cafe i’ve been to in so long!! the decor made me so happy, loved the quirky little touches like the toy animals as table numbers, but the thing that really made it amazing was the service!! such a funny bunch it was like having a meal and a show. I’m so used to going to places and having polite servers which is great but this is so much better, love sassy servers that you can take the piss out of. thanks for making my week 🌸

Very enthusiastic person taking the orders, think he had just had a coffee from the lady making them, very nice coffee. The blackboard menu was varst, had vegetarian options. Had the corn fritters were bloody good, the relish was very nice, would go back just for them, the other half had the bacon butty and said it was bloody good, it also had relish on the side. The decor is old LP record sleeves on the walls and ceiling, trip down memory lane. Was empressed that as soon as table was vacated inside or outside it was cleared, sprayed, wiped very quickly. Will for sure be going back.

Excellent food and awesome strong coffee. Service was friendly and quick

Nostalgic 'back in time' fitted out Cafe A great find . The atmosphere was all about the 1950's -1960's A great Cafe experience Should be on the tourist map. Enjoy the experience with a very charismatic' mine host'
Cheeseisdelicious !
Friendly service, delicious food and great iced mocha. Met the owner and decided right there on the spot he's one of the most fabulous humans ever. Thanks for the awesome atmosphere and unrivaled hospitality. Luv and giggles from Ryan and Arrons friend xx

One of our quicky but very lovely cafes you must look up in Pukekohe. The decor is a mix up of old 50s to 80s retro fab & a must see to take it all in. The food is fresh, locally sourced & made on the premises daily with a regularly changing menu that never tires the taste buds & covers most diet requirements. Dog friendly to so your best mate is welcome with a bowl of water & maybe something can be ordered off the menu too as a special treat. If you are after a bigger meal for lunch/diner there is always the "Inner Sanctuary" of the dining room restaurant which continues the cafes theme of decor & great food there that the whole family can come & enjoy too.The Owners themselves & thier staff are very welcoming & will often stop by for a nice little chat. Its cosy, friendly, great coffee, we absolutely love this great "big" on style but not big on the budget cafe. Go check it out.

Amazing as always!! Had a blast on Saturday night celebrating a friends birthday, Elton you out done yourself. Warm friendly service, amazing food and ambiance. Totally recommend booking a dinner party at Kaos

12 of us sat down at ‘table for 10’ last night - a fantastic night, great food, great host, nothing was to much trouble and we were trusted with the bar. No hesitation in recommend Elton and Care Kaos.
Kerry Smith
Popped in on Sunday to fuel up before a day at the racetrack. Service was a bit on the slow side, one on our table of three waited over 5 minutes for his breakfast after we had ours. But, coffee was top notch as was the food. And then there is the personality, you don't get that just anywhere. So not 5 stars but better than average.
Crystal McGrath
Really shit. Shit customer service and just really shitty experience. Not worth the $$ spent. I recommend going somewhere else.
Sandy Burnett
We have often visited this place for brunch, and as we are leaving the area to move down country, we had it on the top of our list for one last visit! As normal, the food was amazing and the service excellent. We have never had anything but an exceptional experience here at Kaos and will certainly try and visit each time we are able to come up to this area of the country.

#this ......What a fun eclectic not to mention a little cray, cafe. Staff are engaging and the banter hilarious. Great wine and food, coffee to die for. Love love LOVE
Paige Fa'afiu
Booked in for a "Table of Ten" (although we had 11) dinner function and was not disappointed. Incredible host and venue. The perfect spot for a group catch up as an alternative to struggling to talk to everyone in a normal restaurant setting. Food was great. Will be back. Loved it!!
Kevin Glen
Bad service - undercooked chips and half the portion of a few days earlier!!!!
Jurgen Hurgen
Great place to have a team meeting! Friendly and hospitable staff and a lovely atmosphere. My poached eggs were boss.
Paul Grey
Excellent espresso, one of the very best around, and catches the morning sunshine nicely.

Love the quality of food, atmosphere and service. Has been my favourite cafe for at least a couple of years now. Tried a few different places recently but they just dont compare. Back to kaos☺☺
Tania Ferguson
I loved my Stacked Corn Fritters, couldn't eat it all. Of course my Soy Latte was just as yummy as always

My first time visiting Cafe Kaos and what an awesome experience it was. We were made to feel very welcome, the food and hospitality was top notch. AAAAA+++++

Saw a pic on Facebook of a burger, had to try it so drove from Auckland and they did not disappoint! Best burger in ages.....
Elizabeth Ruth Downes

What an excellent cafe. Hospitality is 2nd to none and what a find for big breakfast to set u up for a great days racing. Go Holden !

We were visiting Pukekohe from West Auckland and decided to stop here for lunch after seeing all the good reviews. It was somewhat busy, but our meals were ready within 20 minutes and very nicely presented on our plates. The servings were filling and absolutely delicious! No complaints whatsoever about the speed or service and whenever we're back in the area, we will certainly return.
Suzanne Manihera
Terrible service over an hour to wait for food. And when we got it it was average. Under cooked poached eggs.... yuck. My son had to wait an extra 10minutes before he got his toasted sandwich after everything else was brought out.
Ferdi Collins
Generous portions, wonderful food ,great service !
Leah Jane Maslen Roskam
This is my home away from home. Excellent staff so genuine and friendly. Meals are to die for. Best quality love the free range eggs! Such a awsome atmosphere.
Leigh Speedy
Down in the retro dungeon eatery for lunch today. Never mind the exceptional food. Charming front of house gentlemen full of wit and humour. Waiting for the closed door invites to roll in.... :)
Kim Tomlinson
Fantastic cafe food portion and quality are out of this world.
Sherry Cee
Busy cafe, pointed to a full room by a wait staff and told to just find wherever to sit. Understandable that food can take a while with a full house, as a customer I would want to be informed of the approximate wait at the time of order. We did appreciate the owner updating us about 30mins in that our order would arrive shortly. 45 minute wait for coffee is unacceptable, especially when at least a half dozen customers after us were delivered their orders (a couple of them had to be rectified as well), no apologies or explanation for the delay either. Had we not already paid for the meals, I would have just walked. The regulars did appear to receive a superior level of service and attention however from my observation.
Karen Braks
So it wasn't it a busy time of the day that we went today.... waited ages for order to be taken. No apologies there. Then waited over 40 minutes for food to arrive. Again, no apologies. Very disappointed with lack of customer service skills. Won't be back.
Kirsty Suzanna
Quick service, super friendly staff! Top cafe!
Anita Nelson
Best Brownies ever. From my kids and myself. We also love there meals too. It's so chilled and relaxing.
Jaimee Bullock
Food is absolutely amazing.I will so be going back there.

I had my first visit to Cafe Kaos yesterday for breakfast. I was pleasantly surprised by the funky vintage decor. The vinyl covers that line the walls gave me a bit of entertainment while waiting on my food. I ordered a stack of pancakes 🥞 & opted to have my bacon 🥓 on the side with a long black. I was really pleased with my breakfast, however, my friend ordered the bacon eggs Benedict and thought there was way too much spinach to chew through and that’s why I only score them a 3.
Margarita Ramos
The staff was friendly and love their decorations. Had the pancakes, the big breakfast, chicken bacon melt and soy matcha.
They were all good but thought the pancakes was a bit too sweet for my taste.

Place needs a bit of a sweep and such.
Pauline
The atmosphere here is eclectic and welcoming.
The service is synonymous with the name but always served with a smile.
The food has always pleased us and we’ve had a variety of what’s on their menu. The toasties are a bit pricy at $14.50 for three fillings and no sides. Where as you can spend $16.50 on a BLT that comes with a generous side of fries. I think they could review that offering to be more on par.
Apart from that we’ll keep returning as it a thankful change to the standard cafe.
Liz White
Awesome coffee. Small but warm and cosy. Definitely kaotic at times. Will stop in again. Busy. Food looks great tho the obvious enjoyment on other patrons faces makes me want to try some. Only stopped for coffee today
Allieberghan
I’m in love with this cafe. I have been here sooo many times and I just love the atmosphere. It’s a very retro theme with records everywhere you look. The food is always amazing whenever I come here and the service is great too.
Brittany.fitzpatrick21
Very trendy and alternative place. The staff are very friendly, welcoming, bubbly and funny. Great service, it is a bit chaotic like the name! But it’s an awesome environment, with so many records to admire along the walls while you eat. The food is super delicious. Would recommend, it’s an experience, not like your usual cafe.
Vegesaur
Asked for eggs bene without bacon, and said I was veggie, plate came with bacon. I asked them to remake a new one and they just took the bacon off and brought it back out after 2 mins. I know this as could still see bits of bacon on the plate from where it was. I will not be going here again!
Courtney Pomare
Food was average but the service was not great. First time I went they forgot my husbands meal. Second time we went it took longer to get an orange juice than a flat white and I had to prompt them about my orange juice. My husband loved the pancakes my big breakfast was ok.
Rebecca Gray
Lunch after rugby, we've had take away before, it was superb! Lunch in, friendly relaxed team, watched our table, immediately came over as soon as we were ready. I just had scrambled eggs with sausage, the sausage was more like home made sliced rissoles fried, really really delicious!! My SO had grilled chicken bacon cheese open sandwich, again delicious! Coffee, excellent! Love the atmosphere and decor! Recommend!
Karen Taylor
Have been here a few times, never really had a problem as the food is good but the waiting time is lengthy. Popped in for coffee and food on Sunday. There were 4 people in there so shouldn't have been a problem. We got our coffee but unfortunately after 40 minutes we began to wonder where our food was so went over to the counter only to be told our order had been forgotten. I couldn't understand this as it wasn't busy. I was given my money back for the food. Was not expecting the money back for the coffee but it would have been a nice gesture to have been offered.
Rachie Landon
Elton and his team are awesome. Elton can always put a smile on your face!
Food varies. Sometimes it's amazing and other times it's ok. Never been horrible though and generous portions. Have been going since Kaos started as a little unknown Cafe in Tuakau and it has never lost its charm despite moving and getting more popular by the day!
T Smith
Was really disappointed, service was good to start with, but the coffee took so long to come and then the waiter serving us started patting and playing with a dog and then came took orders and served food, very unhygienic. Food was okay, nothing amazing. However a couple hours after eating, I felt awfully sick, turns out Cafe Kaos gave me food poisoning, resulting in me having to call in sick and lose out on wages. Won't be going back.
Sarah
Cafe Kaos is a unique place, which you will either love or hate. I love it because it reminds me of midnight espresso and similar eclectic cafes that I used to enjoy I when I lived in Wellington.

If you are looking for that classic coffee house with antiquated table service, you won't find it here.

What you with find is a bright, eccentric atmosphere alight with 80s power ballads with Elton occasionally chiming in, delicious food which sometimes takes forever to reach you, great coffee and great cocktails. Staff are always friendly, sometimes they're just bogged under, which is the nature of small owner/operator cafes.

If you haven't been, then go! Just not on a day when you're in a rush, or when you're taking life too seriously.
Samantha
Cool little cafe in Pukekohe.. By the looks of things it's a cafe by day & a bar by night. It has a nice atmosphere inside.

Super busy on a rainy Sunday, had a little trouble finding a table. Staff are very friendly & took our orders right away. It took a while for us to get our food and coffees but I figured it was because it was busy. Food was good & had no complaints we ordered pancakes, eggs bene & mushrooms on toast. Everything had lots of flavour and the coffee was tasty. Cabinet food looked nice as well.
Will definitely be back to try something else 👍🏼

Love the quirkiness of this café, was here in the week, however it was a quiet morning and a wait of up to 30 mins for an eggs benne, which when I received it, it was cold but because there was a long wait in the first place I didn't say anything as we could of been there all day. Apart from that cool place,.
Kelsie Smith
Absolutely unable to fault this extremely well run cafe of heaven. I brought my mum here and she actually considers driving from hamilton for a brunch on the weekends. Brunch/lunch menu is fabulous. Lots of choice. Massive servings. Flavourful. The Salmon is fresh and tasty. Staff are hilarious and great at their jobs. Wish they would stop trying to call a caramel shake a smoothie however. I feel like a smoothie should be fruity. But I digress. Best cafe ever. Even topped my previous of the Lime Tree.
Joe Critic
This Cafe lives up to its name more than anything.

Ordered two coffee, and smoked salmon dish. $18 for all three items.

Stacks of rubbish from Saturday night, out in plain sight every where.

Service was slow, took 10 mins to serve coffee.

Couldn't wait to finish up and leave the Kaos.
Geokie
First time here today, wont be my last. Love the records on the wall and the order "numbers" are a hoot.

Ordered a chicken burger today. It arrived on its side as the bamboo skewer failed to keep it upright and I don't understand the tomato cut in half on a burger. There was plenty of chicken, more than enough salad and the flavors were all there. The homemade chips were nothing to rave about. Tasteless and once cooked, judging by it's consistency.

Overall it was a great experience was great, just a couple of niggles for me

Fizzy
Amazing cafe in Pukekohe, very relaxed atmosphere. Owners are great fun, the staff good too. Great menu and coffee. Decor very cool too. Mushrooms on toast delicious. Highly recommend.
Aidan Quinn
Definitely one of the top cafes in Pukekohe, the food is great and they do really good caramel lattes, yum.
Sharon Picken
My friend @cynthiasturdy and I went here for lunch for the first time today. Couldn't fault it, great food, friendly staff and supa hot coffee!
Shirl Corles Davis
My friend and I went to Kaos today for the first time. We also d
Had to go and get staff to take our oder. The chicken we ordered did not have any avocado or spring onions. We paid $17.00 for some chicken and melted cheese on bread covered in mayonnaise and some sort of relish, yuck. We will never go there to eat again. Food and service was below standard
Becca Callaghan
Went to Cafe Kaos for Lunch with my sister today. The restaurant itself is really cool and funky, but ive had the same problem everytime Ive been. Whenever ive gone i would walk in and get told that if i talk a seat they would come take our order, and everytime i have been sat waiting fir 5-10min. This time we got tired of waiting and went uo to place our order and they realised they had forgotten to come take our order and told me to sit back down again.
Besides that the food was delicious. I had a chicken burger with fries and an iced mango drink. The drink was a bit lack luster but the burger was fantastic.

I've become a bit of a regular Kaos customer even though I don't live or work in Pukekohe. This is a busy place that has the buzz, look and feel of a popular Wellington cafe. The owners are great fun, who take the time to get to know their regulars and interact with new customers. The food is of a high quality, nothing pretentious, but generously proportioned and reasonably priced. Yes it does get busy, and sometimes there is a bit of a delay, but in my experience any problems raised are always dealt with immediately and in very good humour.

It's easily the best cafe in Pukekohe, and any slight imperfections never seem to matter. If you take the time to get to know Kaos you'll probably become a regular, but even if you're just passing through Pukekohe, it's the best place to grab a coffee and a bite to eat. Highly recommended.

After an initial visit and it being a pleasant experience, my husband, son and I decided to go to Kaos Cafe for lunch. It was noon, so yes the cafe was busy with most of their tables occupied. We waited for a table to be cleared and saw the owner clearing the dishes and then wiping away the crumbs with his hand.

I went to the counter to order our meals and had to wait for service, yes they were busy, and I happily waited but when the owner said "what do you want?", I was a little taken aback. Surely customer service 101 would have taught you to be courteous to your paying customers, especially if you want repeat service. He then followed that question with "well I may as well get straight to the point!" I let it slide and proceeded to order.

Our meals came and they were lovely. I can't fault the food. Table service was non existent though, having to ask for water and cutlery when our meals arrived.

Overall, the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth, unlikely to return or recommend!

Exactly what this place is chaos but in a great way. The food is awesome and love taking visiting friends from the north shore to this place.
Phillip Corse-Scott
Dined in tonight and everything was amazing, loved it. The staff, food and prices were awesome. Will defiantly be back real soon.
Michele Jean
Every time I go here there is an abundance of good food, good friends and fun! Gotta love a place that adds to the Franklin Area with this type of venue. Always a smile when you return to Cafe Kaos.
Thanks for great service. - Michele Jean, Pukekohe

Ate saturday morning about 11am - 4 adults and 2 little people, inside about 2/3 full. Great place to go for the decor, not much else redeeming. Special Mothers Day treat for 3 mums (as some of us working the following day).

Food - standard breakfast menu and presentation (ordered: eggs benedict w/bacon, mushrooms on toast, bagels w/ accompaniments - generous cream cheese servings), seating very tight which means constantly bumped by staff (get a seat against the wall to avoid). Table 'numbering' system is cute, but watched a number of meals and coffee's doing laps - lots of asking owner who has what.

Whole experience at this establishment was ruined by poor customer service (details of small thing that ruined the whole experience):
One of the coffees ordered was a small, however a large was delivered. When this was sent back to be changed, it was brought back and explained that we would only be charged for a small, on declining this offer and requesting a small coffee, young male serving us (who already appeared annoyed that we would make such a request) sarcastically offered to take it back and pour it into smaller cup, at which stage (as it was suspected that if we pursued the matter, we may get a coffee with 'extras') we gave up dealing with this person.
I went to counter and asked owner, who also repeated message that we would only get charged for a small - but eventually said that they would make a small.

NB: I also order small coffees - I don't do this because it's the cheapest, it's because I prefer a small coffee. When someone orders a coffee, they shouldn't be forced into 'upsizing' or made to jump through hoops to get what they ordered.

Usually keen for a second coffee, but suitably uncomfortable so we left as soon as we could. Surprisingly, companion went back to try to explain (in a calm way) why young males actions where so unpleasant - needless to say, he didn't get it.
I personally don't think the owner would have been at all receptive to feedback either.

Interesting to look at their website and their notes on their 'Kaos theory' - the experience did have an effect on our entire day, which is why we would look at all other options for our next meal out.
Mike
Had lunch there today. Gotta take my hat off to them. Great menu, great food - left the place actually feeling like I'd eaten something and didnt need to find a pie, homemade patties in a burger that had the works, a salad the size of the garden it came from and a great coffee. The premise is very deco with old LP album covers covering the walls front to back and even has a retro movie theatre in the back. Relaxed surroundings with 70s furniture and a wide mix of people AND value for money. Service was good, though with a full house they were a bit rushed off their feet. Had to give them a pitch, they've done a good job, well worth a visit if youre down that way
Dianne
It was my birthday in an unfamiliar town and by chance my husband and I, and 3 boys (aged from 16 down to 11), walked into Kaos - actually we thought it looked promising because of how busy it was compared to empty cafes all around it. We picked right. Yes there was a wait but the hosts took us on a tour of the theatre and brought us drinks and we all loved looking at the old LP album covers on the walls. Then the meals arrived and blew us away with size, value and taste. It was an amazing lunch and a really memorable, friendly cafe with great atmosphere, music and humour. We can't wait to visit Pukekohe again and go back.

Love love love going to Kaos Its my fav place to meet up with friends but I feel just as comfortable lunching on my own and whether I am a party of one or a party of 30 (check out Friday nights) I am always made to feel very welcome The owners always have time for a Hello n chat and its always has such a vibrant atmosphere The food is always amazing and of a high standard and I always leave feeling happy and satisfied with the experience
Keep up the good work Elton, Stewart, Harry n Co xx
Crystal Johnson
I really enjoy coming to KAOS, sometimes the wait for food is long, yes, but you only have to look around the place to gauge how long your food is going to take, if its packed with people obviously its going to take time and most of the time it is really busy. I always think if a place is busy its good.
Love the management there, quirky and funny!

Food is also great, its on the expensive side but they claim to use as much local produce and free range eggs etc so you can understand why the cost is higher. Good food is worth paying the extra for.

The only meal i didn't enjoy here was the Chicken and Avocado melt as there was no avocado, every other meal I have had here has been great and hasn't stopped me from coming back again.
Greg Shortt
Service was disgusting. We walked out after not been served or acknowledged at our table for 12 minutes.
We were sitting at table outside and were forgotten about.
Owner seemed more excited about chasing sparrows outside than anything else, would think he is an acquired taste.
Have been to Kaos Pukekohe once prior to today's visit and food was good but service was average and food wait was long.
Will never return.
Tristan Wheeler
great vibe and feeling, food good only gripe is that the staff often do not get the coffee quality right. Some times its great other times you get warm milk. Will be back as the owner is a card and quite funny!
Jennine Smyth
Food was nice but service was terrible. Owner preferred to look after his friends and feed them first even though we had ordered before them and another table, and when I complained he didn't even apologise but made up a lame excuse about their docket getting to the kitchen first. They had almost finished there meal before we got ours. Would not go back there again
Eileen Knox
What can I say. This place is fantastic. Can't fault the food and the staff are great. Keep it up guys.
Linda Coles
Kaos is my cafe of choice. Sometimes it does live up to it's name, but that's all part of the Kaos experience. Today's breakfast was spot on, the bacon crispy enough, gluten free bread available and soft fried eggs, what more could a girl ask for? It's a busy cafe so be prepared to hang out in the 60's style and chill.
Rachel Thomas
So guttered. I love the vibe at Kaos and the owners are great but after today I won't ever go back. Service was slow and unfriendly. Went there for a birthday lunch, didn't matter that we'd booked - still had to wait 35min for basic meals. I get it;s tough if it's busy but a smile would have gone a long way! Had to ask twice for water then only got 2 glasses between 4 of us. Coffee was burnt and no one checked on our meals or asked what if things were ok - probably because they could tell we were unhappy.
My advice is to go when it's quiet and you have lots of time.
Kasey Cutler
When Kaos first opened it was amazing!! Became one of our favorite places for weekend catch up breakfasts with friends until we decided on Saturday the 24th of November to never dine again due to for the past 4 visits we get the same long wait on our meals of 45 minutes to an hour!! Also then noticing our orders are not correct. Then having the waiter be rude to us when we ask what was written on our order docket since it looks like our orders are all wrong. Kaos did not care one bit - maybe it's just the rude staff management are fun and bubbly but everything else needs some work! Also it may pay for your staff to approach tables a few minutes after the have received there meals to check that everything is okay instead of waiting until we have to find you to ask what has happened!
Happened too many times now never dining again! Absolutely sick of it!
Raelene Buchanan
My partner and I went to Kaos for lunch on Sunday 25th November and it was awesome! Food was fabulous, so tasty and very decent servings. The staff are wonderful, very friendly and nothing was an issue - they definitely aim to please which is fantastic! The decor is funky and interesting and you just feel really comfortable from the minute you walk in.

All in all we could not fault the place, just fantastic. Keep up the awesome work guy's :)
Sheryl Hartnett
I find the service to be very friendly but have been in three times to find nothing of interest in their cabinets to eat. Often I just go away with a take away coffee alone.
Will
This neat cafe has the kind of vibe you usually get from a trendy cafe in the heart of Wellington...that's a good thing. Its funky decor is matched with quality food that is well presented. Service and pricing are what you would expect and on the whole Cafe Kaos is a very enjoyable place to visit. Its my favourite cafe in Pukekohe so I would say give them a go, I am sure you will enjoy the experience.
Evelyn Kawiti
My friend and I enjoyed lunch at Kaos last Monday 19 March and I have to say I love the 60s the ambience, service and food was superb. The movie theatre is a quaint addition it is a nice place to hold a special occasion such as a farewell for a special friend.
Mary Underwood
Agree with some of the other reviews about the delay in the food but can't fault it. Love the atmosphere, the coffee and the food. Elton and Stu made a good move from Tuakau. Had lunch there last week with a friend and loved their potato wedges! Very kitsch but that's what makes it unique.
Ian Wilson
Elton and the atmosphere makes the place. The food is often late and pretty average. Sort the kitchen out Elton and you'll take the place to the next level!
Wilma Fingafit
Best cafe in the town, everyone needs to sample this amazing place !! Elton and Stu are great hosts and the food is wonderful, the service quick and the price is right! Sit in a comfy chair on the sidewalk with a great cup of coffee and a sticky bun and watch the world go by.
Tarina
My sister and I came in for lunch with both our babies. The staff were awesome, very friendly and well informed.

The ambiance and atmosphere is quirky but great!

Food was reasonably priced, good and came out on a good time. The cabinet had a great looking selection of paninis, sweets and salads.
Lynette Mcintosh
What a wonderful place and experience. For all those lady lunchalots out there you will not be dissappointed. The best Food, service, entertainment and coffee. These guys have got it right. What a great assett to Pukekohe. Can't wait for full dinner experience. Thank you.
Keith Eades
First experience now they have relocated to Pukekohe. Loved the decor, great novel idea for menu. Food was nice, coffee was very good. Looking forward to going back when they are fully operational.

What an awesome welcome I and my group got from Elton!! We were running late but no problem. We were so impressed that he had set up the gallery for us "art deco"style.
The food, the service, the charm was so good!!!!!!
Great atmosphere, great host, wonderful staff, nothing too much trouble and we got to meet the lovely Penny & Harry {OMG is that his name??}I have already recommended to several friends and I am planning a return visit very soon.Go Elton!!

Elton is the entertainment, once he knows you, you need to allow at least an hour for a coffee as he will monopolise you. Cherry in the kitchen is a star, as are the other "mums" who work there. Let down by a few of the "kids" who are really NOT good at their job. Food is great but some dishes have too much doorstop bread or rocket lettuce, and not enough of the good stuff. Given they have recently hiked their prices, need more of the meats etc and less of the fluff. Stunning cakes and always a lovely coffee, great place to stop and Tuakaus biggest asset - next to from Elton, of course :O)

Unfortunately my dining experience on Sunday was short opf the mark, the food was good but not value for money. I had French Toast etc. Meal consisted of 2 pieces of bread dipped in egg not left in long ehough, very chewy as a result one small rasher of bacon half a banana plate then filled with chopped fruit and covered in thick layer of Icing Sugar. Very disappointing as up until now have always enjoed this particular meal. Always pour my own "Maple" syrup. What has happened?

Kaos/Soak is a wonderful modern, stylish cafe/restaurant complete with contemporary art gallery. Great atmosphere, friendly and efficient service, superb food. Hubby and I recently had a meal there at Soak, limited menu but the food presented implied that they indeed do have great chefs, we were impressed. The cafe Kaos meets all expectations and is equal to any you could find in the big city with food that is simply tantalising. It is worth a weekend drive out to the country just to stop in Tuakau and have a meal at Kaos/Soak and visit the other shopping attractions that Tuakau has to offer, you will be pleasantly surprised.

I know people who love this location, love the owners, adore the coffee and rave about the food.
I would say the experience is adequate, the food and coffee fine and the owners seem nice.
The cafe is aesthetically attractive but while designed for comfort and originality, the actual practicality is lacking. They are working to maximise space which is understandable but leaves you somewhat cramped.
I would go again but only because someone asked to meet me there. An "ok" choice but not at the top of my list.
