Review Columbus Coffee - Pukekohe

We enjoy coming to this cafe when we are shopping at Mitre 10. Coffee is great and a nice selection of food items to choose from. Could you PLEASE be a little more generous with the butter you provide for the scones and muffins. Have been twice lately and just a small slither of butter provided.

Very popular and a pleasant place to have brunch. Service was pretty good and the garden setting is nice. Food quality was fine but a bit expensive compared to the portion size. Plenty of space to relax. I would recommend and go again.

Always friendly hardworking staff. Great food. Coffee is too weak for me, bit diluted, watery for Americanos. Could be better. Just an opinion. Yummy cakes. Reasonable prices.

An uncut gem. Food is sensational, with a great menu - broad choice available but not too many items. Value is pretty good. A hidden treasure at the back of mitre10. Coffee and tea selection is very good too.

Busy little cafe, staff are lovely and food was tasty. Toasted sandwich was a little under toasted but good ham.

Always excellent coffee and food. Great menu options and cabinet food. Caters well for gluten free and vegetarian. Neat little kids kitchen play space with sofas. Big kids playground right next to the cafe. Lots of outdoor seating in the garden centre also.

Still like their coffee, the food pricing has jumped way more than inflation.

There is plenty of ventilation as it is situated next to the garden centre which is mostly outside, although this is closed off in inclement weather. Tables have numbers assigned and food will be brought to your table. We had prompt service even though it was busy. New indoor tables and seating it seems recently which gives a fresher look

Casual and relaxed, food was served quickly and cooked to satisfaction. Convenient location inside mitre 10 so plenty of parking. Rewards card system as well to accumulate points for rewards.

Coffee, good, have increased their coffee cup sizes, they were small compared to other coffee shops, new size cups are now in line with other coffee shops. Lovely savoury scones.

Waited for over 45 minutes, it was freezing cold. Gave up in the end got a refund and left. I destroyed the rewards card I stupidly entered my details for, as I won’t be bothering with Columbus again. Waste of time. Avoid!

We've been here several times and always get good friendly service and great food. Yesterday we had toasted sandwiches with a date and orange scone and coffees. Was a lovely break in a really nice setting on a horrible rainy day ... Thanks

In a town where dining options are starting to rival that of Ponsonby Road, chain stores often get overlooked. Such seems to be the case with Columbus Coffee based down at the Mitre 10 Mega on Manukau Road. Tucked away to the side by the garden centre, this not so wee cafe is a great family place to eat. There are outdoor tables in the garden area itself; indoor tables, bar leaners and banquettes; and a lounge area that also comprises a kids' table and play area. Should older kids get weary, there is a playground right near the entrance.
On this occasion we ordered the cheese scone and the bagel with salmon, cream cheese and capers. The scone was light and fluffy; we had the option of having it heated and buttered but as it was for the toddler I declined. The bagel was served not only toasted but still hot and with a generous amount of sides to assemble for my personal preference. I also ordered a mocha latte - handily guided by their wall poster - and found this a pleasant drink.
Service was pleasant although a tad on the slow side as I think staff members were taking a break before the lunch rush. There was around a ten-fifteen minute wait on the coffee but it was served with an apology which always helps.
For families, the ability to eat and know that your child is fairly contained in an area with lots for them to do is invaluable. Avoid the area when major Motorsport events are on (it is right next to Pukekohe Raceway) but other than that it is a delightful place to have a family brunch.

Sarah Reynolds #challenge
