Review Sumei - Pukekohe

Gorgeous little restaurant. Limited parking as a very busy area. Tables a bit too close together which limited comfortable conversation. Food was nice, crispy beef was really good. Most dishes very small and quite expensive. We spent just under $120 for two people and hubby was still hungry. Nice for a treat but not a regular option.

SuMei is a charming delight. From the lanterns that hang from the ceiling in all the colours of the rainbow to the exceptional service which is polite and warming. Each dish more flavourful and beautiful than the next. All the dishes complimented each other, the meat tender and flavors dance on your tongue. The Asian greens I highly recommend, along with the beef rendang, stir fry hoison beef noodles and bolgogi pork bao buns. It's beautiful and highly recommend the trip to pukekohe to enjoy.

First time trying this restaurant and we were so excited to try the bottomless with whānau and friends. The service, the kai the cleanliness and the price was all worth your buck. The only flaw we had wās with the choice of bottomless drink the bloody mary should be swapped out (it wasnt for our pallet) for a pina colada, or tequila sunrise, other than that it was so good that rebooked for another date. Thank you staff, you were all amazing.

For someone who lives in waiuku, I got really excited when hearing that a new asian fusion restaurant (Su Mei) is coming to Pukekohe. Even getting more excited when I heard that its the same management as Franklin across the street. After a while, we finally been there twice, one trip with kid (non-spicy) and one without (spicy). We tried quite a number of dishes in the menu from both visits. We were impressed by the flavour combination and the food are yum! They also very accomodating, as when we brought our 4 years old they make sure everything is not spicy. Our favourite dishes were korean beef tartare and (papaya?) salad, my wife also loves their green tea icecream. Our only minor thing is that being Indonesian we grew up with Rendang and tried many version, and rendang from Sumei certainly not like how we know our rendang taste like (although their version also quite delicious). Su mei has an extensive range of cocktail and other drinks, we ordered mocktails and prefer the lychee vs pinnaple. Although both still quite yum. A few of our friends also positively comment on their cocktails. We love the atmosphere and service, very efficient, food were served fairly quickly so we didnt to wait for long, table cleaned regularly (hardly dirty plate left behind on the table). Another point most of the food has ‘gluten free’ options including all the dumplings which is amazing

Dumplings were absolutely delicious.. staff were very friendly. Didn't realize my fish dish still had its head til I crunched on it, Wish i had been told this when I ordered that dish. But apart from that it's a very nice place.

The food was really delicious, we ordered fish, chicken wings, dumplings and rice. And the dish was also very beautiful. It can be seen that the chef is a lover of life. The only downside is that you may not go to the store often because of the price.

2nd time I've been to this restaurant and quality of food is always great a long with the customer service. Yesterday I went to the bottomless brunch and the staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and big portions. Will definitely be coming back!

What a wonderful spot! We decided to go for our anniversary. The welcome greeting was awesome, the decor was terrific, waitresses service was on point! (Reminded us of Canadian service standards) we had the chilli pineapple margaritas which were epic! The dumplings were to die for, we couldn’t select our favourite as they were all so good. The dish of the day was the soft shell crab. Wow! Reasonably priced and overall an excellent experience. 2 very happy customers signing out.

3rd visit... just wonderful.. food is absolutely amazing. The Lichee cocktail has become my favorite cocktail ever and the service is always on point. Coziest atmosphere. Well done all round ❤️ Loved it! Second visit. Great food, great deco, great cocktails and the service was impeccable!!! Top restaurant!

Had a wonderful dinner here on Saturday! I asked the waitress what her favourites were and she was spot on, the sashimi in particular I’ll be back for. Service wise love it when the waitress notices there’s 3pieces and only two of you so suggests would we like an extra serving so we don’t have to fight over it. Truely worth a visit also the cocktails are delicious 🤤

Well going by the buzz and reviews it was worth the wait. As you enter you are swallowed up by hanging lanterns which gives off a neon flare. Nice long bench seat that follows down one wall with single seat offering on the opposite side. Small menu selection however all the dishes completely have vibe together and come out at a good rate with staff to match, decent drink selection and AF options available. Good tidy grooves in the background and best of all GF. Go book a table today.

Absolutely in love with this restaurant! The food always exceeds expectations, staff are all lovely and they are dog friendly outside :)

We tried the bottomless brunch for the first time at Sumei and oh man was that delicious. The food was amazing and the service was exceptional. I think our favourites were the bao buns and the dumplings ☺️. Will definitely be coming back again, thank you Team x

As a gluten free diner this place is amazing. Gluten free dumplings were fantastic - so tasty. Can’t wait to come back again!

Amazing tapes 👏 highly recommend this place for some Asian Fusion. Pricing was reasonable too.

Beautiful The menu is small but what they lack in quantity they make up in quality, definitely recommend
