Review Vknow - Queenstown

V KNOW why this place is so great 💜 Tonight we decided to eat at a local restaurant just down the road from where we were staying. I absolutely loved this cute family Restarant. The lovely lady who owns it started her food journey and love for food at the age of 10 when she had to start cooking for her family and dad, when her mum would go to work. At a young age she worked at various restaurants around NZ and at 18, she worked at a well established French restaurant where you had to dress up as French maids and cook and flambé food in front of guests. She learned many skills there. Eventually she opened her own restaurant, & has owned V know for 16 years. I had a beautiful mushroom & truffle risotto for my entree, the local blue cod on sautéd potatoes with salad for mains, & the most amazing sweet treat called Yukkies which only cost $3. It was a chocolate truffle heaven ball that had a firm outer layer, & a smooth moussey, ice cream like centre that also was soaked in local pinot noir and local cherries. OMGGG I will take 10 please🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 I absolutely adore supporting local business like this. They were all so lovely, & had a beautiful energy💜 Highly recommend it. Great value for money, great wine list and food cooked from the heart with love💞

They cooked up a great appetizer from my red stag back strap that I brought in. Main entrees were cooked to perfection. Wine selection was very robust and matched well with our meals. If you want great food with no crowds this is the place.

Delicious warm spicy tomatoes soup. Seafood bowl is amazing but hoping they will put more prawns and breads. The waiter also very helpful and cares about your needs.

Had three courses and the waitress advised us of a wine choice within our budget which was excellent. Extremely happy with the food and the service, the service did slow down a bit as it got a little busier but that did not deter from the experience. Would visit again in a heartbeat.

Fine dining quality in a friendly neighborhood restaurant. .... A couple of weeks later - the coconut parfait ... Yummy!

They gave us a table despite not having a reservation which was really good of them as they had a function. I ordered the Pork Belly which i thought was a snack when it arrived. Having said that though, it was well presented and tasted 7 out of 10 compared with other pork bellies I enjoyed. The wine list is generous and staff are very friendly. A good experience and child friendly.

One of the best restaurants in Queenstown, which serves homemade Italian style food. Delicious that how I would describe their dishes! We had couple of dinners in there, so I was lucky enough to try different dishes and mushroom risotto with wild venison was my favourite! The last but not least, it's service and atmosphere, it's very quiet and relaxed with no rush and stress, friendly and very open staff which makes you feel like you are regular customer.

Love this place! With the delightful Jessie to greet you at the door (aka the resident 2 year old border collie who paws at your legs in welcome and walks you to the door of the restaurant) the evening has begun. We had a wonderful meal here. Great relaxed local restaurant with excellent quality food at a very reasonable price. The fish of the day was a winner. Desserts were excellent - note the crumble. We ran out of time but would have gone for a second visit if we could. A must when in Queenstown

This place is amazing! The pizzas are fantastic (& the gluten free base is thin & crispy and delicious!), the lamb shanks are a favorite and the yukkies are worth popping in for just for dessert. They do takeaway too. And Danny the host is fabulous and really knows his wine (& does generous pours). Fernhill is incredibly fortunate to have such a wonderful restaurant with such great food and good prices

Food was absolutely fantastic. The service and atmosphere very friendly and welcoming and we enjoyed every minute of that homey vibe. Wine list is great and everything is reasonably priced. I was sceptic at the beginning about the menu - Italian, Greek, French and oriental fusion but everything we tried was fantastic and makes sense. I like to return to places where the food tastes like meal at home and where I can feel cozy so you will definitely see me on my next visit to NZ (you already had us twice in less than 24h) And on the fun side... I don't remember the toilet at any place that would keep me entertained for so long. If you go to Vknow you must visit the toilet. The posters are hilarious😂 Thanks guys for a great time. I will highly recommend the place to anyone who visits Queenstown. I tried to visit most of good restaurants around Queenstown on our short trip and Vknow Restaurant is definitely our favorite one.

Quaint restaurant away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Fantastic service. Good pasta and pizza.... My recommendation would be the fish and prawn pizza- interesting concept.

Decided to pop in here last night (Sat night) and was in luck to grab the last table in the bar area to get some food/drink. The small venue was a hive of activity and chatter and so nice and cosy. Waitress was friendly and owner came up and introduced himself. Great wine selection. I ordered the mushroom risotto and truffle oil entree and a garlic pizza and was very nice. All around - lovely vibe and great food - can’t go wrong with that!

We had booked online, which was an excellent and easy process, and when we arrived were happy to find the place bustling - often the sign of somewhere good. We had browsed the menu online and ordered quickly as we already knew what we wanted. Forty five mins after ordering we were asked how things were going and we mentioned we were just waiting on our food. Our host came back and told us that with hubby having ordered the lamb shank it would take some time as it has to be roasted. Once we knew we weren’t forgotten, we were happy to wait. The wait was well worthwhile and the food was just excellent. After we finished our main courses we asked for dessert menus (though again we NEARLY knew what we wanted and just needed to check). Menus were brought promptly but half an hour later we gave in, went and paid our bill and walked to the dairy two doors up and bought ice cream for dessert. Shame, because I really would have liked to try the crumble . . . But the wait for service was just too much. Shame they couldn’t teach the resident dog to take orders - he was pretty attentive!

$12 for a takeaway salad so small it could only fill a mug.

Why skimp on lettuce leaves?!

Pizza was nice, but extremely expensive.

There is better value for money to be had elsewhere in this town.

I can't praise this restaurant enough! If you are in Queenstown you have to go here. It's possibly my favourite restaurant ever.Danny was a charming, friendly, attentive but not intrusive host. The decor is inviting, with wonderful artwork over the walls. The service was fantastic but most of all the food was out of this world wonderful. I had the scallops as an entree and they were beautifully presented and cooked.I had the pan seared blue cod and everything on my plate was so tasty and perfectly cooked. I rarely finish everything but I couldn't help myself-it was all so good.Interesting wine list too.Do yourself a favour and go here.We ate in a few places in Queenstown but this was by far the most memorable and delicious!

This place is on my top ten list in the world now! We came hear after hiking Routeburn track. Everything in this place is awesome! The decor matches the multi-level word play of the restaurant's name. It is kinky, unusual, original, unexpected, but not overdone - fantastic artwork on the walls and everywhere else. The service was excellent: helpful, polite, not rushed and friendly. The food was just fantastic! We had the soup of the day, which was a fusion of Thai and Italian cuisines, a duck and a wild venison. The house red wine (Ausy bloody good red) was bloody good and a blended white called "The White" was excellent as well (similar to Sokol Blosser Evolution). The food was so good that we finished every last piece of it even though we almost never do that. Finally, even if you are sure about what you want for dessert - try the Yukkies. They are deliciously addictive.

First time at Vknow and being a local I thought it was going to be great... not so good...
To start with, one of us got a glass with lipstick, not major, but not even a sorry from the owner... then, my apple juice had what it looked like a big mushroom inside. Again, not apologizing, I was told that they run out of apple juice and that was a petal from a flower from the night before... Sorry, but I didn't buy that one! The portions were a bit small for the prices and the amount of time we had to wait for two apple crumbles was unacceptable... Not to mention that I was charged the coke I was given to replace my apple juice!

Kiwi as and hidden away in fernhill, a real locals destination. Danny and lizzie run the team and maintain an upbeat casual atmosphere sporting great food and the best wine list in town. Well worth my weekly dinner and a great place to entertain friends or those you wish to have an unforgettable dining experience.

Last night was my first time at Vknows - a friend had highly recommended it - and I fully agree with him...the hosts, the atmostphere, the food were all EXCELLENT!!! I would encourage anyone visiting Queenstown to visit this restaurant as you will go away with the most satisfied tastebuds possible. Between 4 of us we all tried each others mains, as well shared a 5th main because it sounded so yummy - and they ALL were - Could not fault anything, particularly the service. Keep up the great work Vknows, you are FANTASTIC!!!
