Review Fergbaker - Queenstown

Alan Huynh
One of the best bakeries in town. They have such a good selection and variety of pies to choose from and the lines go quick. The staff are both helpful and efficient. I got the steak mushroom and blue cheese sauce and would recommend it for anyone with an appreciation for cheese or blue cheese. It surprisingly goes well with the meat and the pastry. Will definitely be back to try the others
Jennifer
Hands down the best bakery! They have quick service and the pies here are amazing and full of flavour. We loved all of them but the chilli and cheese, and mince and cheese definitely stood out. The Boston cream donut is also so fresh and soft. Highly recommend!

Really delicious bacon and cheese scones, and their beetroot juice really hits the spot and cuts the fattiness of the scones. Yum! I have yet to try their mince and cheese pie and Boston donuts, but I heard they were yumgasmic- can wait to try it
Rasmus Bugge
Yes! Go hear for a dessert before and after getting a burger next door. The pastries are so good and you can get some massive pies, that really hit the spot! They also make excellent pies that are perfect for lunch on Roy’s Peak.

Delicious food, and much cheaper than all the restaurants nearby! We got the buffalo mozzarella sandwich, carrot cake and Boston cream donut. All three were amazing. I've been to Italy and the buffalo mozzarella sandwich here tastes better than what we got in Italy 🤤

The cream donuts and sesame bagels are great. Tried the beef pie and chilli beef with cheese pie - they are good to the price, but I prefer the donuts more.

Surely Ferg can't have nice burgers and bakery too?? But anyway I gave it a try. It looks crowded because many people are waiting for their burgers, the bakery's queue is not long, you get served within 5mins. I don't normally like pie, but the steak beef&cheese pie is the best pie I have tried, it's not minced but rather diced beef, the meat chunck is so tender. The lamb pie was good as well, although I couldn't tell that it's lamb. The venison pie was also ok but not as good as the steak and cheese. The beef and blue cheese was just ok. The cream donut is also very worth it. Not too sweet. The lemon meringue pie and almond 🥐 was ok, not that special. They priced it very well and reasonable considering the location in a touristy town.

23/9/2023 It was very nice because it serve in hot and fresh as well. We ordered steak with blue cheese. The taste is just right. I would recommend this if you visiting queenstown.

A full of fresh bread and desserts in the amazing bakery in town 🥯 I had a famous Boston cream doughnut. You must try that fluffy dough and perfectly balanced cream! Cannot wait to come back to Queenstown and this bakery 😊

Best pies and sausage rolls in town. The steak in the Ferg pie and steak and cheese pie were so tender and the pork sausage rolls are delicious and full of flavour, Pastry is perfectly crisp and flakey. Also tried their bagels and they're great too!
Kiki
French stick was fresh and tasty, but the hero was the lamb pie! Perfect pastry with tasty meaty filling, flavours balanced no complaints. Nom nom nom

Every pie is a great choice! Haven’t eat pie for ages, but can’t say no to the puffy pastry, tasty steak pie, Chilly pie, pork belly pie, chicken mushroom pie, yummmmmmm!

Probably the best pie I've ever had, I got the Ferg Steak and Cheese, I should've bought 2 more. Definitely a place to check out when In Queenstown

Taste - individually scored
I am sure Queenstown's famous burger is @fergburger_queenstown but rightttt next to it they have @fergbaker ! It is a bakery that sells their famous pies and pastries!

I got the 𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 𝗽𝗶𝗲 (5/5) and the layered pastry was soooooooo flaky fried and buttery. The amount of gravy and chunks of soft venison just like heaven.

The 𝗯𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘁 (5/5) is a must! I usually do not like donuts but thisssss oneeee was the bomb! The bread itself was bouncy-ish chewy and soft ans the vanilla cream was very light!!!!!

Lastly the 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝘁 (3/5). It was pretty norm I gotta say. The pastry was abit soft and not as flaky and the amount of chocolate was abitttt little.
Flippynz
Ferg steak pie. Huge chunks of meat and a decent amount of pepper. Great pies pastry not flaky enough but good in its own right.

Place was absolutely packed on a sunday. They have a huge array of bakery delights here. Wasnt hungry enough but those baguettes look superb. Might try pop in again before i leave

Would have to be one of the best pies and sausage rolls anywhere in the world. Buttery pastry and great flavor. get one while you wait in line for a burger

Having already had fergburger 4 times and a ferg pie once (I believe I got steak and mushroom last time), I decided to go and try other pie flavours at fergbaker. My boyfriend recommended the venison, portobello mushroom, red wine and onion pie as that is his favourite and it was really delicious. He got the lamb shank pie and said that’s his second favourite to the venison.

Firstly, the pastry was warm, buttery and crispy, which is everything you’ll want in a pie. They even had a cute pastry cut out of a deer (or a lamb if it’s lamb shank pie etc) to distinguish the difference in flavours. The filling was generous, perfect and delicious. The venison wasn’t dry and a bit sweet from the onion sauce. I absolutely loved the onion sauce as it added a kick of sweetness to the savoury sauce. I did however find it lacked a bit in mushrooms but the ratio was more meat to mushroom if you like that.

I highly recommend fergbaker if you can’t be stuffed lining up for a fergburger or want to try something new. My boyfriend said the Boston cream donuts are also amazing but I’ve yet to try it!
Christian Rijanto
Best meat pie in NZ!
Jinjing Fang
The bakery is right besides the burger restaurant which makes it a complementary place to visit when you are waiting for the burger. The Boston cream donut is absolutely amazing and I think it was popular in the store. They also have a variety of breads which look super nice but we are too full to try.
Jinky Jimenez Cruz
Their Steak pie is soooo goooood 😊👍🏼👌🏼 The Best Boston Cream I’ve ever had... Really really good 👍🏼👍🏼👌🏼

Best donut by far I have ever had!

Fresh baked bread and savory goods are always a treat when wanting to eat something without spoiling your appetite. Apple pie was great and quite the large serving... beware

Had the Ferg Pie there this morning. Amazing but beef was a big chewy. Also had a Boston cream doughnut for desert - F ing amaze ing.

With a small latte with extra shot to wash it down. Great work. Only took one star off because of the chewy beef - an easy fix.
Got a Chili Steak and Cheese pie yesterday from here. To be honest, a little expensive for a pie and have had better pies. The pastry was good, I'd say not far from being on point. The pie was a tad dry for my liking and didn't have much cheese. Also, calling it chili steak is a bit misleading. It had a touch of chili.

There was quite a bit of empty space which means they're going a little tight on the filling.

I love the burgers the Ferg team do, but the pies could be better.
P
Pies ok- decent amount of filling and meat tender but not overwhelmingly great.
Bread is very disappointing! We tried the croissant, baguettes, twists etc and found all to be very bland, dry and did not taste like bread from a bakery should.
J Ambrosio
I loveeeee Fergbaker!! Our first day in Queenstown we didn’t want to line up for the burgers so ended up in Fergbaker. What a good choice! Loved everything in the bakery. Couldn’t decide what to get but my faves were the chicken pie, the cinammon raisin bagel and the raisin danish. I think the bread here was the only thing my daughter ate the entire trip. Haha! Highly recommend. :)
Mashed_Potato
Perfectly situated to snack on an Eclair and order some coffee whil your friends order your Fergburger :P
Delicious eclairs, great fresh produce to choose from and of course the finest quality!
Lucy
Nice and cozy bakery located on the main street of city.

Ordered the freg pie and the pork belly & apple pie. Quality meat fillings used, both pies were tender and saucy. The pastry was crusty and warm after 20 mins walking back to the hotel.

Priced a bit expensive

Food: 8/10
Service: 8/10
Location: 9/10
Ambience: 8/10
Price $8 per person

Travelling with non-burger lovers (it was also well before noon), we decided to pay Fergbaker a visit. A bakery with a small bar to eat, Fergbaker was quite busy, and after roaming through the chalkboard menu, we each got a pie, and I was alerted to the Boston cream doughnut.

I ended up with the daily special pork belly pie, which had large cuts of pork belly with caramelized apples and Dijon. The Boston cream order was missed on our end, but

Hungry in the morning? Need something sweet and warm ? Yes yes ! Its time to FergBaker ! Exactly on the right side of ferg burger.
Bought the Apple Crumble Bread, Cream Donut and Hot Chocholate. They tasted amazingggggg.
The breads were so soft and nice.
The Ferg chain has expanded out to a bakery which is next to its most famous sibling, the Fergburger.

Fergbaker serves freshly baked pies, breads and a variety of sweet pastries and treats.
We came here for lunch and couldn’t resist getting one of the pies. I had the lamb pie which was amazing. The pie had tender lamb shank chunks in tasty gravy. The pie pastry was extremely light and didn’t feel heavy at all.

We were also tempted to try the sausage roll, there were no regrets ordering this. The meat filling was a mixture of pork belly and mince and was well seasoned with fennel seeds.

And we enjoyed the bakery so much we cam back a second day for lunch. I really wanted to try one of their specials. Chicken pie with mustard, cheese and Chardonnay. I don’t normally order chicken pies but this one I had no regrets. It was a beautiful, creamy filled pie which was so comforting to eat. Again, the pastry was crispy, light and flakey.

The queue to Fergbaker isn’t nearly as long as the Fergburger queue and I think the pastries here at just as good as the burgers. The bakery surely gets the overflow of the burger clientele who are too hungry to wait. With pastries this good, there is no disappointment there.

Fergbaker makes the bread for the more infamous Fergburger next door.

The bread is great in these burgers and similarly doesn’t disappoint in their bakery range.

We particularly like the Boston Cream Donut which looks very simple but it truly tastes like they put in a lot of care in making sure the ingredients shine. The Cream didn’t taste fatty or too sweet, but like genuine, quality, fresh cream. The Donut dough was the right consistency: lightly crispy on the outside, and not overly chewy inside.

The Foccacia was simple but delicious.

As usual, Ferg really let the ingredients speak for themselves.

Recommended :)

After hearing the hype over the Freg chain range, I finally got the chance to come and try a couple of pies here.

The venison and portobello pie, and that was delicious! Well flavoured and generous servings of meat in the filling.

Sampled the oyster and guinness pie, you could smell and taste the oyster in the pastry however I was a little disappointed that the oysters were small and very little in the filling. It was a good pie tho, a little pricier than the regular pies so I was expecting more oysters.

Both pies pastry was the right kind of flaky for me, didn’t crumble during each bite. Given the hype, it is a decent pie, and the line is not as bad at Fergburger. You can literally just walk in, chose a lie and be out in 5 minutes.

Next time I’m in the area and craving a pie, will be back for me ☺️

Absolutely love the pies from this place!

This is a must try if you are in Queenstown. Lines are long but not as long as Fergburger next door.

Their hot chocolates are also very popular.
Amit Tripuraneni
What a treat. The pies have the right ratio of meat and sauce. The Boston Cream donut is amazing. Friendly service and great food - definetly try the breads.
Bella
The blueberry pie is absolutely to die for. As is the lemon meringue, and the custard flan.... Good coffee, but it's the baked goods that are the main drawcard here. The savoury pies are also delicious, and you can't go wrong with any sweet selection.
Sweet And Sour Fork
I had originally planned to have breakfast at Fergbaker on one of my three days in Queenstown, but what really ended up happening was us dropping by literally every single day we were there… plus a lunch detour on our way back from Milford Sound. Needless to say, we were both smitten with Fergbaker. Not only was the variety bigger than pretty much any bakery I’ve ever been to, the quality was also all up very good. It was just such an easy and versatile place to grab a bite to eat, because not only do they have something for all occasions, they’re also open from 6:30am to 4:30am! Seriously, why don’t we have one of these in Australia yet?
Trish
Loved their meat pies and croissants. Chilli beef pie 😱😱😱😱👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 not to mention their hot chocolate.. nothing bad to say about this place. But so much better than Fergbaker in my humble opinion.
Rahul Singh
The place to have pies and most importantly the cream donuts. Guaranteed to take you back in time to your childhood! A must go for anyone in Queenstown multiple times.
Ann Castillo
Definitely a must-have when you’re in Queenstown! I love their pies and croissants! So tasty and filling - I can have them every day. Heaven in every bite!

At first we hesitated to try the ferg burger because it seemed too touristic. But in our last day we decided to give it a try. Dont worry about the line, it goes pretty fast. You can have a beer while waiting. And the huge hamburgers worth trying. It was one of the best hamburgers i have ever eaten. No place to sit, we ate it by the lake.
Eunifoodie
Super friendly staff here! All the pastries and bread look so good here - I especially wanted to try the giant pretzel. I only got the Boston cream donut and it was amazing - loved the generous amount vanilla bean cream inside.
Vina
A small bakery next to the busiest burger store in queenstown. They have savoury and sweet breads and cakes. I tried their pork pie which was good. My favorite is the Ferg’s famous boston cream donut. The cream was rich and the sweetness was just right. The donut itself was chewy and tasty.
Jade Kidd
Really delicious and consistent food. We got breakky from here a couple of times for something quick, easy and on the go. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Watch out for the little sparrows who try to steal your baked goods outside the store.
MELB JOURNAL
We grabs a few different sandwiches before heading off to a hike and they were absolutely delicious. The cream donuts are also a dirty treat. They aren’t too sweet so they are very easy to eat. Perhaps too easy.
Turkish Apple
You can see the food are nice and fresh. We ordered pie and danish to takeaway. The pie was absolutely amazing, whole piece of meat not like other pie fill with mince. Just one little thing, the lady that serviced us she looks tied and just don’t want to serve anyone anymore, so I was kind of fast order pay and run... but food is great.
Streaky Eats
Right beside the famous Fergburger is the Fergbaker, where you'll find tons of baked good including a marriage of almond croissant and chocolate croissant, a chocolate almond croissant (why isn't this available in Melbourne? Or if there is, it should be made more commonly available).

The pies like the Ferg pie/Ferg steak (they're the same depending if you read it off the board menu or the marker written name on the display) and pork belly were nicely encased in a buttery flaky pastry, size-wise they are bigger and better looking than your standard pie around town. My steak pie had a slightly dried piece of meat, but that didn't ruin the pie experience.

The boston cream donut was also another tasty treat, soft donut with visible vanilla bean in the cream.
Maggie
Very nice staff and quick service! Everything looked so good and so I wanted to try it all, but because it was cold, I decided to go with a mince and cheese pie. It was DELICIOUS. The pastry was so puffed and crispy, and the filling had a lot of flavour. This pie definitely fuelled me up for the day. Although the prices are a bit high, I would still recommend coming to Fergbaker when you're in Queenstown

Ferg Burger Wednesday - Ferg Baker today! These places never seem to stop pumping! Pushed our way through the masses and settled on one pork belly pie, and two steak, mushroom and blue cheese pies. They were all super good, and three satisfied punters all round! Mrs also had to get a chocolate au pain, which looked really great with wide chocolate stripes for decoration on top, and I thought it a solid 8/10, although she was less impressed for some reason? Very satisfied, and would be happy to revisit for another round of something different.

You won’t be able to resist this place especially if you are in a long queue for Fergburger. This place smelt amazing and very inviting. Great selection of sweets - tried their Pecan & Praline slice, milk & chocolate donut, Ferg’s Famous Boston cream donut and gingerbread man and they were all spot on with the flavours. They offer a variety of both sweets and savoury and the sweets that we tried were all good. Can’t wait to try the other baked goodness.
Akym
Tried their venison pie the day before leaving Queenstown and it tasted excellent. Will definitely come back for more when I’m in Queenstown next.
Jula Sihapanya
Ferg baker meat pie was so delicious, it’s crispy outside and meat inside was fantastic. I was lucky that time I didn’t wait for a long queue. Staff there were friendly.

Rude staff. The girl that served us had no customer service skills. Never would have thought I'd get terrible service just asking for some donuts. Completely put us off going back.

Brought three pies today. Really bad service from one of the girls. They ran out of steak pies and I told them to give me a sec to call my mate to pick something else. Waitress clearly is an impatient human being, even has the nerve to ask me 'is that all mate?' in a very unpleasant tone.

Food: 3.5/5
Service: 1/5

The Ferg pies are to die for! They are flaky with just the right portions of meat and pastry. The sweet treats are also a winner! A must visit when in Queenstown!

The smell from the bakery lured us straight in. The service was quick and easy. There is a wide variety of options, all of which looked amazing!
Bayu Sharin
I am starting to prefer Fergbaker more now than Fergburger. Maybe its because the latter had a longer line, but also the food here is much more varied. I love the sausage rolls and the lamb shanks pie is marvelous. The boston cream donut is definitely a must try
The Poor Foodie
Don’t be put off by the long queue! Those people are queuing up for the burgers so you can go straight into the bakery.
A whole variety of baked goods to choose from and I picked a chocolate almond croissant ($4.20). It gets a bit messy when you eat it coz the surface is crispy (?) and when you have a bite, all the little bits will fall, so does the sugar on top.
I can’t say the croissant was very buttery but it was full of layers and a thick layer of chocolate. Out of all the croissants I’ve tried, this one is not my best one but still is a nice croissant.

The hype that is Ferg Burger although we started with Fergbaker next door. Place smelt amazing which is really awesome.

Got two lunch rolls, one roast chicken and one pulled pork. Both were awesome, get them to heat them brings out the flavour more. There are plenty more baked goodies to chose from, depending on your stay duration you will end up going a few times to try different things.

Food: 80%
Ambience: 70%
Service: 72%
Coffee: N/A

One of my favourite place to visit while I queue for Ferg burger. The best bakery in here I think. The prosciutto plait and their pie so good. I like the steak n cheese pie. Definitely need to try when you visit here
Faye Stubbs
So good. If you love your pies and pastries then you can't go far wrong. Fergs used to be all about the burger and although they still queue out the door this has overtaken as my face Fergs branch.

We tried 3 pies- mince cheese, beef cheeks and Fergs. All so good. Washed down with the best hot chocolate ever. Deadly stuff.
Nathan Piahana
Had a mince & cheese pie which was really nice. good pastry and thick chunks of mince with flavour. also had a quinoa baguette which was beautiful, a garlic and cheese focaccia, and a beef brisket panini which was the only disappointing thing. and even as good as the bakery is it seems it still did nothing to sway the many people lined up to see its closest neighbour fergburger
Lole Lole Lole
Decided to get a pie because I was a little bit put off by the queue next door for Fergburger.
Had the venison and portobello mushroom, and it was amazing. Pastry was perfect - soft, crumbly, just right. The meat just melted in my mouth and the mushroom flavour was strong enough. Yum yum yum.
HobbityElf
Large and varied variety of flakey pastry pies. Mojito chicken sandwich was great for a picnic and the german seed bread was great for toast. Surprised by the variety and quality from a chain bakery.
Suzie Lee
Sensational pies!!
This bakery has the most delicious pies and pastries and unlike it's sister establishment next door, there are no queues! The venison and portobello mushroom pie was amazing!

Food: 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5
The pork belly pie was hands down the best pie we've ever had. The filling was both juicy and tasty and the pastry was crusty and fresh. We plan on going back for more. We also ordered a sausage roll however this was not as memorable as the pie.

Service: 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5
Servers were very helpful with their suggestions and fortunately the line was not long.

Price: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Decently priced for a great breakfast.
Great pies great crust cooked all over. Venison and portobello mushrooms a standout. Venison nice. Comfort food in an exquisite setting. Take your bakery food to the lake. But if you’re reading this you know that.

Came here a few times and the coffee is great and they have a fair selection of typical bakery goods. I enjoyed the small pretzel, delicious. They can get pretty busy for coffee and I have had my order messed up and for one particular occasion the staff asked for me to pay again for another coffee.
Jade Lim
After hearing so much about this place, we thought of giving it a go....but surprisingly their pies did not pass our expectations at all. Their pies were way too saucy to our liking. (Rating on the pies only) other items look pretty decent... Yet to try'em.

Such a delicious pie! We ordered two of the “Ferg” pies and they were so good. I loved the big chunks of steak and the gravy with onions. Will definitely be going back for another pie before we leave Queenstown.
Finn
It was such a nice pork belly pie. And the place was full with bread smell. It made me hungry. It was good enough for my lunch too. But a little expensive.
Ngynt
Tried a fair few of Fergbaker pies over the one week I was there. If you don't want to wait in line for Fergburger, this would be the next best thing to try, especially on a cold day. The pies here are great and the pastry is on point.
Chris
Came here for the pies, stayed for the boston cream buns (and pies). All so good. A Fergburger from next door & a cream bun is the perfect combo
Crackerjacker
Had a pie and it was really good, could not fault it in anyway. The giant pretzel was also amazing and it was only $6.9 which I thought was really cheap for its size
Jenny
Our first breakfast of the trip was Fergbaker. We were so hungry that I didn’t manage to get shots of our first pies. But boy were they good. Exactly what you need on a cold winter morning in Queenstown. Any morning in Queenstown really. The pastry is the epitome of savoury pie crusts. Flaky, buttery without being too heavy yet solid enough to hold and devour directly on the street in front of the shop. Between the two of us we had the venison, beef cheek and chicken pies and each were flavoursome, generous and filling. There was a good balance of gravy vs. body that made each bite a delight.
JeCci
Nice bakery with loads of yummy pastries, pies, cakes...definitely need to try their meat pies, lots of gourmet flavours and they are real yummy...
Dane Huitfeldt
Look, I can't be too harsh because I bought pies, sausage roll and sweets at 8pm on a Tuesday night, which is a pretty nice thing to be able to do anywhere. Unfortunately the girl who served us, in between texting on her phone, was barely a notch above flat out 'rude'. The pastries we had (ferg pie, chicken, sausage roll, lolly cake, brownie and apple pie) were all fine, just a little tired when we got them. The selection was really good though so there is something for most tastes.
Ellynn
Definitely a great bakery. Its overpriced but youre also paying for the name. I tried the lamb shank pie and it was divine. Hopefully i will get to try the mince and cheese someday. I couldnt because they were sold out and were still making some more.
Ryan Chris
We need just little snacks, so we tried pork belly pie. Oh my goodness. It was absolutely great tasty and full of belly pork. But little bit expensive.:)
Brad Jackson
Absolutely epic pies and sausage rolls!!
Easily the best I've ever eaten, here or in Oz.
The standard rump beef pie has huge chunks of trimmed meat with perfect pastry.
Croissants were also on par with the best I've had.
Thanks FergBaker, you set the standard.
Pham Peter
Pies are Nice and fresh. Sausage rolls are tasty and the hot chocolate was out of this world. Thick yet creamy and flagrant. Best to have in the morn.
Brian With The Y
Decided to try this location out, only had Ferg's Famous Boston cream doughnut. The dougnut was so nice and fluffy, would totally come back here just to grab this piece of gold 👌
Canny Connoisseur / Rishabh Shah
One of the best bakeries I have ever been to.

The BOSTON CREAM DOUGHNUT and the HOT CHOCOLATE here are just over the top.

The doughnut is so soft, the dough is so fresh and when you dig in you get that sweet cream oozing out. It was one of the best doughnuts I have had so far.

Fort those who love hot chocolate you can try them all over queenstown but Fergbakery has the best one. They remove the hot chocolate from a pot which seems to be brewed and kept at the beginning of the day on a heater. The richness and heaviness of the chocolate is nothing compared to the other ones out there. There is also a hint of bitterness from the dark chocolate which does not make it too sweet. I think that defines it. There is alot of creaminess for sure in the hot chocolate which gives it that thickness.

Fergbakery is a must visit when in queenstown. Don't forget to try the above dishes. Their pies as well are worth trying.
Aaron87lee
Pies pies pies!!
If you're a kiwi pies are life. While being in Queenstown I had the chance to try out three pies and also Fergs version of a Boston cream donut.
The pies I had were the Lamb Shank Pie, Ferg Pie(Prime NZ rump diced braised caramelised onions and cracked pepper) and also the Ferg cheese pie.
Overall such great pies and some of the best pies I have had and I have a lot of pies haha.
If you're ever in Queenstown it's a must have. Opening hours are pretty good as well from 6am till 4am which is awesome if you're looking for something to eat after a wild raging night out in town. Quite an enjoyable pie experience!
The donut was also nice treat not the best Boston cream I have had but good enough. Go a long and enjoy!

Read the reviews and had to try the pies here. Had The Ferg and an apple pie and both were excellent. Washed it down with a hot chocolate. Yummy.

Have been here numerous times and tried many different pies. Pork belly new recipe and the old recipe that contained apple cider gravy, steak pie, thai chicken curry, as well as the boston cream donut. All have always been so awesome and bringing me back morning after morning, even having three pies for dinner once! I have had the coffee here twice, first time was a large and it amazing. Second time was a small, and significantly less strong and too milky. For perfect espresso balance, definitely get a large. The pies are always perfectly flaky and buttery and the meats inside perfectly tender and not chewy. Always super delicious every time.

another must stop in queenstown. right next to ferg burger - cannot be missed. food all looks amazing. definitely going to return again to try even more food!!

Went next door to Fergbaker after having ice cream.

Excellent service, at both places. There were an array of goodies displayed.

Had the Apple pie which was outstanding.
@geeta
The muffins were soft and the berries gave that wee bit of a contrast in the flavours.

The gingerbread man looked so edible that even though we were stuffed we had to have one.
Medium_Rare
Really pricey pies.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not on a crusade against pricey meals or I’m a rich snob but honestly $6.50 for a pie is definitely on the higher end of the scale. I consider myself a sagacious person, so when I pay $6.50 for a pie I’m expecting the best damn pie in the world.

I had the lambshank pie, and to its credit it was flavorsome and unique. It was disappointing though because I was expecting a more meatier pie, but there were only iota pieces of lamb.

Would I try a pie again? Probably another flavor (they have a great selection), do I think the price is appropriate? No, I still believe it is a little steep. Aside from the stuffing there wasn’t enough for the pie in my opinion to justify such the $$$.

Showstopper: Great original flavor

Overall Grade: B

Absolutely the most delicious baked goods we've had - I had the white chocolate cheesecake and my partner had the lemon merengue pie. My partner is an LMP connoisseur and he was in love!
Reasonable price, good service, amazing food!

Great place to grab a sweet treat after a burger next door at Ferg burger. Also serve great coffee. Service friendly & efficient. Their pies are a particular fave.

I love this place ! The sesame bagel with cream cheese is out of the world! In my 6 day trip here I ate it every single day for breakfast !

Vege pie tasty but over priced for what it is. The sweet treats are nice though and is a lovely dessert after loading oneself up with a Fergburger

Update: Bought a veggie pie again tonight... It was over cooked and DRY. disappointing.

Delicious baked goods here!!! The pies are amazing!! My hubby has tried the venison, chorizo, pork belly, steak and cheese pie. I had a vegetarian pie- hands down the BEST veggie pie I have anywhere. The service could have been better, as in, more welcoming and friendly but maybe we just has workers on their off day or something. We will be back for more.

When my boyfriend and I visited Queenstown this year, we did know we were entering a food haven. We bought lunch and sometimes dessert from Fergbaker every day for 10 days. I still have cravings that cannot be fulfilled elsewhere. The pies are out of this world. Thai chicken curry was my favourite, followed by the vegetarian one. As for dessert, you can’t go past the apple pie!

Loved this place. Def come back here! We ordered some tarts bannofee, fruit tarts and caramel/choc tarts they were delicious the crusts were yummy crusty and lite. The fillings were also delicious will "real" filling. Not substitutes. Also brought a lamb shoulder and kumara pie, hubby got a lamb shank pie both delicious, both chunky. Crust held the pie together nicely and the pie didn't fall apart when biting into it. Yummy! Def go back here!!

if you’re looking for decent coffee in Queenstown, then look no further than Fergbaker. This quickly became our favourite coffee spot, as our coffee was always strong and extra hot, plus it is only $4 – bonus!

Their food cabinets were also consistently filled to the brim with many sweet and savoury foods. I particularly recommend their cheese rolls, an almond croissant or a huge slice of sweet pie!!!

Came here for the famous pies - vegetarian for us. We ordered and service was good the pie was more on the expensive side, and we were charged for ketchup. But the pie was delicious really similar to a vegetable curry! Would've been five stars but it wasn't gluten free nor did they have gluten free pies :( risky move but worth it!
Amanda O'Sullivan
The 5 star rating is based on the 'mince pie' it was amazing! The 'ferg' pie was o.k, if you like big chunks of steak. I also tried the mince and cheese - still prefer the mince. Very nice pastry, I heard from colleagues NZ had much better pies than AUS, and they were right.

oh good lord. i couldnt get enough of this place (and in 2 days i went there maybe 3 times?). sandwiches are beyond great (go for the grilled veggies and pesto). the appple pie is glory --> asks for apple pie - expects apple pie - "would you like it warm and with vanilla ice cream?" --> YES PLEASE. i cannot think of one single thing that did not exceed every one of my expectations in this place. dont bother queing for fergburger - this is the place to be!

Bakery and ice cream are the kiwi way and Fergbaker for the former maintains the standard. Generously sized portions yet still light in texture, I had a bagel and the blueberry pie. Pie pastry was awesome - firm to hold the great chunk of filling yet light and not dominate to the pie overall. Great range of baked goods including renowned pies and sausage rolls. So much to tempt...
Frank
Probably the best bakery in Queenstown, if you can manage to squeeze in here due to all people standing outside trying to get in next door to Fergburger... Was told the pies are amazing, had a couple of the cakes (lemon meringue and lolly cake) everything very high quality and super friendly service, definitely worth a snack stop!
Siobhan
Best. Cheesecake. Ever. Ditto with the steak pie. The staff here handle the crowds really well and there's not long to wait to be served and have your coffee made. Make sure you stop here during your trip to Queenstown.

Had the ferg+cheese pie for breakfast, it was amazing!! So tasty and full of flavour! The pastry is very soft, the meat tender! Also had their juice which was good!
Mat
I seriously love this bakery. During my visit, I had tried at least 5 things from their range of amazing and delicious baked goods! Definitely grab the chicken pie omg and the cream donut is to die for, it's seriously the best cream donut I have ever eaten! Also try their bagels- for an extra dollar you can get cream cheese on it.
Mezza
Had a Fergbaker pie for breakfast with a flat white. The coffee was absolutely rubbish. It was warm milk! The pie wasn't hot but I reckon because we had to wait for the 'warm milk', the pie got cold. I had the beef cheek pie, the meat was beautifully cooked and it had big flavours. My BF had the Ferg pie and said it was pretty average.

Tried a few things various days/times over a week - all great. Good bakery, wedged between Ferg Burger and their gelato shop. The pepper steak pie was full of chunky beef and well developed flavour, tomato sauce unnecessary. The rare beef roll was delicious and toasted up well although I suspect would be nice fresh too. The apricot honey slice was sweet but perfect with coffee. The cream doughnut was an absolute winner - naughty but perfect balance of fluffy bread doughnut and a sweet fresh (not imitation) cream filling. Worth getting any of the above or something different for snacks and/or to take on any out of town road trips. Recommended.

In Queenstown ? Go for the fergs. Awesome pies . Bacon and cheese pie , ferg pie and vegie pie are three pies i tried over the weekend which i spent in central Queenstown. Absolutely perfect . The price and the quality cannot be questioned. Plain croissant and chocolate ones are yumm !!

I only go to the Fergbaker for their #Famous cream donuts. They are definitely worthy of the title. One bite in and you'll be hooked.

Pros.
- Friendly staff.
- Delicious baked goods.
- Famous cream donut worthy of its title.

Cons.
- an increase in clothing size from stuffing your face with donuts.
- unable to take an decent Instagram//zomato worthy photo as you end up eating most of the goods beforehand. 😂

I wish there was more than a rating of 5 to give this place. Hands down best bakery. The cabinets, counter and pie warmers and stocked to the brim with breads, pastries, pies, sandwiches, eclairs, donuts, everything you could possibly want. Fergbaker became my regular while staying in Queenstown. Pain au chocolat or a croissant for breakfast. The baguette sandwiches toasted for lunch, or maybe a gourmet pie. A sneaky eclair or vanilla slice for afternoon tea. And a loaf of bread or the mini buns for dinner. The Boston cream donut, they say it's famous, and with a taste like that I can see why, I wish I bought a dozen to talk home.

It is a part of the popular and legendary Ferg nation in the Queenstown city.

Serving vast and fine varieties of French, Italian, German and New Zealand's popular bakeries and patisseries. Including both savory and sweet delicacies.

We grabbed few scones and croissants for snacking.

It is quite a popular and busy bakery too. So be prepared for a wait or perhaps prolonged wait.

Amazing its always open convenient place to eat in the mornings. The atmosphere is amazing and the staff are so lovely. One of the best bakery's I've been to. I love the fergbakery, ferg gelato and the fergsburger shops there all amazing
Tristan Baxter
Best pies I've ever had. Like many I saw the queue at fergburger and couldn't be bothered waiting so decided to venture into the bakery next door. I'm glad I did. Had a lamb shank pie and loved it. Next day had to go back and try another so got the chicken and bacon pie. Just as good if not better. Definitely need to go back to this place again.

Just the right way to have a gala time over desserts ...
Just enjoyed every bit of their famous cream doughnut ...
Nice place with awesome stuff
The gelato was like an ok stuff
But the next shop with desserts and pies sets awesome!!
Chad
So this is getting a 5 because I just ate one of the best, if not, THE best pie I've ever had. The pastry was so flakey and tasty. I had the pork belly apple pie while the wifey ate the chicken mushroom bacon. Our friends had sandwiches of various sorts and they were loaded with quality fresh ingredients. Baked goods, although not sampled, looked wonderful.

It's a first place in New Zealand where I have seen a Que, not because the service is slow but because the outlet have the best burgers in Town. After having the burger I had no regret waiting 15 minutes in the Que. I had vegetarian burger which had a funny name 'Bun Laden' filled with with fresh garden veggies, falafel and sauces. Trust me even if you didn't had anything since morning, one burger is enough to fill your stomach. I don't need to recommend this outlet because all of the people already know about it and is popular in Queenstown.
Ilovetoomnom
I love visiting bakeries and I was not planning on heading to Queenstown without trying Fergbaker. I ordered a cappuccino and the Ferg Pie. The pie was absolutely amazing! The pastry was flaky and there was lots of filling inside. For $5.90, it was definitely good value for money! However towards the end, it did feel like it was a bit salty but it wasn't too overpowering.
Not much can be said about their coffee though. It wasn't that strong and was quite sweet due to the chocolate powder coating the top (I never have sugar with my coffee).
All in all, this place is worth a visit if you like your savories and sweets!
Johnathon Atchley
A very, very good bakery. The pies are wonderful and their pastry is full of crunch and flavour. There's still room for improvement though. Fergburger is a better place to eat but this isn't bad either!
Melissa
Partner got what I thought was a boring ham, cheese toastie... Turned out to be the best ham, cheese toastie ever! Packed with cheese, ham off the bone, a bit of mustard + fresh bread... I can never have a ham cheese toastie any other way. Speechless.
Ended up a bit disappointing having picked the Ferg pie instead, though this was also insanely good - chunky, tender, tasty steak with flaky, fresh pastry. Food was matched well with decent coffee. I'll be back.
Kate O'Connor
Possibly the best bakery I've had the pleasure of visiting. Amazing selection of treats and one of the best pies I've had in NZ. I can recommend the cheese rolls, steak and cheese pie, chicken pie, pork belly pie, savoury muffins, savoury breads, lolly cake, donuts and of course their coffee and smoothies, to name a few.
Ivan Koay
From the people that brought you the fergburger, a spread of their empire I guess...
Wandered into this place as the queue for the burger place was ridiculously long
They have a variety of pies, made to go sandwiches and pastry.
The sweet items were excellent with the strawberry tartlet a favourite
The pies had great filling with the steak especially worthy of mention...however the pastry component of the pies were a letdown, probably as they were in the warming cabinet for too long..
Overall a decent place as an alternative to the more famous burger joint next door
The Food Bandit
The good thing about Fergbaker is that there's no line up for service. All very quick and very cheerful. I ordered a Ferg with cheese, and I doubt whether I have ever had a better pie. Big chunk of slow cooked rump, no sinew or gristle. Just melts in the mouth. Doubt I will have a pie as good as this for a long time, or perhaps forever. Just marvellous.
Mikaela Knight
Holly Molly best pie pastry I have ever had! Perfectly crisp and golden brown! Went back to Fergbaker twice and tried both the venison and veggie pie. The venison was lovely and creamy but would of been nicer with a bit more meat. The veggie pie was flavorsome and like eating a scrumptious Indian curry with every mouthful (thankfully without the chilli factor because I can't handle spice haha.) and what kind of bakery visit would be complete without dessert?! Shared the blueberry pie which looked like something straight out of an American prize bake off. It was a piece of art! Very rich as well so I shared with my family! I was just surprised to see the masses spending hours waiting for a burger when this gem is right next door with next to no wait time. Ridiculous!
Adeline
The pastries here are good- got the boston bun although ours didnt have custard in it... And the vanilla flan was tasty amd the lemon meringue had good lemon curd.
Dee
Oh My Gosh!!! Guys.... You seriously need to come here and grab the boston cream donut as much as you can! It's the best thing ever!!! The donut was nice, smooth and soft. The filling... To die for. I heat mine in the microwave for 6 seconds and my oh my...the custard filling was warm and just a tad runny, but thats the best part! It is seriously delicious and I wish I can order some and get them couriered up. Thanks guys!
ShoRt
BEST LEMON MERINGUE PIE I have had in New Zealand or ever. Fluffy meringue with that nice hard caramelised bits, lemon curd is just right not too sour and not too eggy, crust is tasty. Blend them together and it's perfect. It is so good I have it once when I land, and one to bring it back to Auckland with me. (Sorry photos of meringue squashed because I brought it with me to Wanaka).

Their pies are amazing too! Pork belly pie... Yum.

For the price you pay, pretty good value!!!

Friendly staff, well displayed cabinets, fast and good service.

Take it away, sit by the lake, enjoy the baking and enjoy the view. Life is perfect.
Patrick Clarke
Best bakery in town if not the south island. Amazing pastries and the pies are ridiculous! Beef cheek pie and a slice of deep dish apple pie were tops.
Dish4Nish
Great coffee and outstanding toasted cheese sandwiches for anyone on the run in the morning. Toastie beats the usual type with huge amounts of cheese and a hint of seeded mustard with some excellent bread. It's hard to justify going elsewhere and paying more for breakfast.
Food Mm
The vanilla tart is worthy of 5 stars alone. The best I have ever tried including Paris. You cannot go wrong with any of the choices here, pick up dessert after eating your burger next door.
RONniE
I think the whole Ferg range are focusing on good quality food that satisfies. The donuts, Chocolate croissants and cheese & jalapeño bagels just too good!

Can't say much but it is a must try....

The shop presentation is pretty classy as well!

Another must try in Queenstown , just next to fergburger. We absolutely loved the Boston donuts and their chicken pie! Don't leave without trying !
Alwayseating
Had the chocolate eclair and the Boston donut all bloody good! The pies are amazing also the Wild Boar and Apple was grouce! Ate them all before taking photos whooops!
Sean
Well priced cakes, desserts and pies. Picked up a couple of their cream donuts which were very tasty! Next door to their burger place it was also busy but not as bad as next door. Lovely smells in the air when you walk in and friendly servers.
Chasing A Plate
...Mince and cheese is the nation’s favourite pie filling. It’s a Kiwi classic. You can sample an excellent version at Fergbaker which is conveniently located next to Fergburger. If you’re after something a bit more gourmet, there’s beef cheek or lamb shoulder and kumara on offer. Their sausage roll is delicious too. While you’re here, grab a Boston Cream donut- these fluffy balls of sugar dusted deep fried dough are injected with creamy, vanilla custard and utterly irresistible....
Benedict Uy
Always stop by here for a pie or two whenever in Queenstown. The pies just taste like what they say it is and the pastry is generally crispy and flaky. The lamb shank always goes down well. They also have other pastries which are ok.

Staff is helpful especially if you can't decide on what to get.

Most items are generally between $6-$8.
Shelly
We came for dessert after we had Fergburger because you get a discount if you buy from Fergburger and bring in your receipt. As expected the line was huge, just like Fergburger. The staff were not really that inviting, as the place was quite busy we felt like we were rushed to look through their huuuge range of desserts and ended up buying a chocolate cake which is the safest thing to do right?! It was very dry when we ate in besides being described as a moist chocolate cake so we were quite disappointed, did not live up to the hype.
Shaun Lott
Excellent bakery. The meat pies were good, but not in my opinion superlative, but the rest of the food here is just great. Filled croissants and rolls, donuts and fruit pies - all expertly done. And without the waiting time required for a Fergburger.

RECOMMEND to everyone who visit/travel in Queenstown!

Just came here to buy some sweets for a try, staff is really nice, friendly and willing to help youth choose flavor! I bought two mini tarts(kiwi and strawberry) and one Boston creamy donut! It surprised me and my partner!

Next day, I bought 12 mini tarts(all flavor), 3 creamy donuts and two croissants back to Auckland to share with my friends. Super yummy! Good comment from all friends too!

Have a try if you looking for ur breakfast. Cheap eat and yum! Worth it!

So close yet so far away! How on earth does NZ have pies so much better than anything in Australia, is it the water, hobbits or fresh air or adventure or the thousands of international visitors?
This is the go-to place it you can't be bothered waiting in line next door for a Ferg Burger. They make a great selection of Pies and tasty pastries filled with Goat and Deer and all manner of different meats.
I wanted to try them all but didn't have enough days there to go that nuts, plus that meant i'd need a lot more riding uphill and less downhill, if i ate that much.
Staff were friendly when we were there. The Decor is ok, nothing fancy but not dull, it's got the ye-olde (but newish) bakery vibe to it.
These guys are open most of the day so its hard not to get a feed in Queenstown.
Donna&Shane
Wow ...I'm not normally into pies at all but the selection is amazing that you have to try one... The lamb shoulder kumera pie was delicious the pastry was yum... Will definitely be back to try their donuts!! (Did come back to get those Boston donuts and YUM!!)
Alysha Bower
Fergbaker is just as good if not better than Fergburger! No massive lines, really friendly upbeat staff who are more than willing to tell you their favourite things! My friend and I both had a pizza slab and a Boston Creme Donut. Honestly best bakery food I have ever had! Will definitely be coming back while I'm down here! :)
ItsTrueFatKidsLoveFood
Came here for breakfast before a day on the slopes.

Decided on a Ferg pie and the ham and cheese toastie.

Not much to say apart from that it was probably one of the best pies ice had and one of the best toasties.

Would recommend to everyone.
Tardar Sauce
LOVE the Boston cream!!!!! My absolute favourite:) We had these almost every night on our trip. Fergbaker is right next to Mrs Ferg (gelato) and Fergburger (burgers). There is no wait for Fergbaker as there (always) is for Fergburger.
Nick Stuhlmann
Delicious pies. Would go as far to say the best I've had in NZ. Had heard great things but my experience of these pies far exceeded the talk of the grape vine. Will definitely be back
A Culinary Affair
The back story : World famous Ferg hits back - this time with the Fergbaker. Having been to the Fergburger multiple times now during visits to Queenstown, I was curious to see if the Fergbaker would serve the same delicious affair that the Fergburger was known to have.

Setting : With warm wooden panelling and decadent displays of large slices of apple pie, blueberry pie, lemon meringue, tarts and slices out front - Fergbaker definitely captured my attention - the colourful array satisfying the visual senses more so than its Fergburger counterpart. Behind the counter lie freshly baked gourmet pies in a heated cabinet. Basket of fresh breads also line the front counter. The place is warm and filled with the scent of various baked goods. No seating options here but sufficient spacing inside for takeaway exchanges.

Food: There are over 10 pie options here ranging from $4.90 to $6.90 - all reasonably priced considering the gourmet ingredients used. I was spoilt for choice here - prawn and chorizo ? Thai chicken curry ? Or the more classic Ferg Pie ? I finally settled here for the Venison and portobello option though the beef cheek, bacon and mushroom pie was a tempting choice as well. The choice of flavours here pretty much sums up the Fergbaker. Hearty delicious pie fillings - from the gourmet savoury to the sweet dessert options. The venison portobello proved to be a great choice. The meat pieces were tender - falling apart easily as I bit into the crunchy pie pasty. Juicy bits of portobello nestled inside the sauce brought out the venison flavours well. The pastry was light enough too and non-greasy that I didn't feel over full at the end. All in all - a very good pie and difficult to fault. The zero wait time between ordering and receiving the pie was a bonus too - so a great choice if you're not wanting the wait of a Fergburger but still wanting to try Ferg delights.

Occasion : gourmet bakery style goods - perfect for quick lunches for take-out pies or for that sweet craving for a dessert or fruit pie

Revisit potential : 10/10

Never miss an opportunity to go to Fergbakery when you're in Queenstown. This place has the most amazing Boston cream donuts and they are well known for it.

I have been here once before when I came to Queenstown last year. I got a prawn and chorizo pie last year with a sweet dessert pie afterwards. My pie then was pretty tasty! This year I tried a classic pie — their Ferg pie which has huge chunks of steak inside along with gravy. If you're looking for a meaty pie, this is it. At times I even wished for more gravy because the amount of meat in this pie is a tad overwhelming. I felt like this pie was a little dry because it was about 95% beef, 5% gravy. Lucky I had a coffee from Mrs Ferg to wash it down!

I saved my Boston cream donut for a few hours later. Expecting it to be a little bit dry and the pastry hard, I took a bit into my donut and was pleasantly surprised! It was still so soft and it is literally THE BEST CREAM PIE I HAVE EVER HAD. Can't get a pie like this in Auckland!

I will get another before I return! Amazing bakery.

I have no words for this place. We went in to get a quick hassle free bite right after finishing the Routeburn trek. FergBurger had a long queue and we were too tired to wait that long. Had one venison pie. Loved it so much, I had to try one of their pork belly pies. I could compose a song about it! Service with a smile and a few jokes across the counter and incredibly good pies. Decent sized pies too. Some friends had the croissants and sweet baked goods and loved it. Now I cannot imagine a holiday in Queenstown without visiting them once at least. Highly recommended.Food 5/5, Service 5/5, Price 4/5

We where here twice in two days. Lamb and Kumara pie is awesome however the Ferg (steak) and cheese I found a little dry. Anyway great pies from a great bakery.

Long queue and quick serve. We ordered five take-away burgers. All are very delicious and big in size. You will definitely be full after finishing your burger. Must have in Queenstown.

We were here twice in the two days we visited Queenstown town centre. The bakery seemed to be buzzing in the morning, with tempting baked treats wonderfully laid out in abundance. On the first day, I had the Boston cream donut which is supposed to be popular with the crowd. I thought it was pretty good, though it did remind me of the cream donuts you get from your local bakery, and I think Little and Friday has simply spoilt my tastebuds for donuts. Having said that, it wasn't too sweet or oily, which is always a plus in my books. I had a bite of the pork belly pie and that was good! Delicious pasty, not too flaky (I know some people prefer it that way but not me) and tender meat filling. So the next day we went back for more gourmet pies, keen to try out some of the other interesting sounding flavours they had on offer. This time I had the chorizo and prawn, and also got to taste the venison and mushroom. The pies were pretty good, though the chorizo and prawn were abit too saucy.
Birdman
By far the greatest bakery in the world. I basically flew to Queenstown just so I could eat pies. Open 24 hours a day and has the greatest selection of the best pies on the world
Lindajing
Amazing tarts and croissants - I've tried the banoffee and chocolate/caramel tarts and almond/chocolate croissants. Their range of fresh juices are also worth checking out.
Johnine @ HaloHaloAtbp
Fergburger's secret to their burgers are probably the tasty buns which are baked fresh at the next door Fergbaker. I visited this bakery four times out of the four days that I was in Queenstown. There's a good selection in store ranging from sweet and savoury pies, cake slices, doughnuts, tarts, coffee, etc.

Their style is honest and simple, similar to neighbourhood bakeries in small towns. There was a croquembouche on display which stands as a great conversation starter especially for people who haven't seen an actual croquembouche in real life e.g. me.

I've tried their Vanilla Flan, Chocolate Mud Cake, and Caramel Eclair. All were equally gratifying but I liked the Vanilla Flan the most that I had to have it again just before we flew out of Queenstown. Their pastries had just the right amount of sweetness that I would have probably easily finished a whole Vanilla Flan cake by myself. The Chocolate Mud Cake and Caramel Eclair had a good tinge of bitterness from the dark chocolate and caramel, respectively. I haven't tried any of their pies because why have pie when you can have a gourmet burger next door, but I'll definitely try the pies next time I visit.

This is a pricey bakery but I gladly let go of my hard earned bucks and will continue to do so if this bakery was just a stone's throw away from me. I haven't yet found a bakery in Auckland that makes me equally or nearly as happy.

Need a Ferg infusion but Fergburger is closed? Don’t panic, Fergbaker is right next door. Fergbaker serves up quality meat pies to-go for breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper from 6:30am to 4:30am. Yep, 22 hours a day, every day! You’ll also find bread, pastries and cakes at Fergbaker, which makes a good alternative to Cookie Time for people with a sweet tooth. Caramelised braised pork pie.
Excuse Me Waiter
As much as I love Fergburger, I think I prefer the newly opened Fergbaker. I’m a sucker for baked goods and I can get a lot more variety in one meal before I am stuffed full. These two outlets are a must visit for anyone heading to Queenstown, and I pray that they expand to Sydney soon! As the motto says ‘In Ferg we trust’, we definitely can trust them to serve up delicious food for hungry tourists.
Sheila Kjaerhus
The pies are delicious. A had 3 different ones - all just scrummy. But the lamb and kumara with Moroccan spices was my favourite. Yum!

2015 November
The burgers are famous and popular but personally I prefer the bakery more. The pork belly and apple pie was the best pie I’ve ever had – the pastry was buttery and flaky and there was lots of chunky pork in the filling. Also recommend the Boston cream filled donut – dough was chewy and the cream was lightly sweetened – a good combination. Everything they made in the bakery was excellent – I bought some baguettes and ate them while hiking, again the bread was chewy and the fillings were interesting and tasty. If you had to try one restaurant in Queenstown, it has to be Fergbaker.

Previous review in 2014
9/10 Best bakery in Queenstown. Food: The pies were amazing - loved the pork and apple one. The pastry was buttery, the filling was packed with chunky meats and there were lots of tasty flavours to choose from. The cakes/pastries/bagels (pretty much everything) were also not to be missed - the banoffee pie was excellent and the jalapeño bagel was great too.

Service: Very busy little shop, but the service was quick and friendly.

Verdict: I came back here three times in two days and will certainly come back when I'm in Queenstown again!

Blueberry Pie. We came here to find dessert and chose the blueberry pie which was full of berries! The taste and consistency is different from what I am used to but that isn't a bad thing. The berry filling was nice and I liked the crust very much although it isn't your regular crust [where I am from]. I sure there are a few other things I could try on a return visit.
Bro Beans
Pie was average and with out a doubt the worst sausage roll I've ever eaten. Wouldn't waste my time again.

Lamb and kumera pie was the best pie iv ever eaten in my life!!! Wish we had this on the Gold Coast. Loved it more then the burgers.

Very handy little bakery. Fergbaker is a really good spin-off of the mighty Fergburger. Sticking to next door's theme of good quality, fresh ingredients being used in all the products, the baked goods served here are pretty top notch. Whilst not being cheap ($7 for a most of the pies) the pastries are chock-full. My steak and cheese pie contained huge and plentiful chunks of steak and plenty of cheese, topped off with a really flavoursome gravy. The lamb shank pie was equally as good. The other items on the pie menu give the more adventurous eaters plenty of pie options - I wasn't game to try the prawn and chorizo, but I'm sure it works.

The bagels and cakes were really good too, but the biggest surprise for me were the little cheese rolls tucked away in the corner of the display cabinet. Bread wrapped little cheesy, oniony, bechamely bites of deliciousness made a great snack at any time of the day, but were especially helpful when hungover.

Coffee is so-so and was a bit up and down depending on who was making it. It's just convenient to get your brekkie and caffeine all in one hit.

I never got around to trying any of the bread, but it looks amazing, and based on everything else that Ferg do I'm sure it would be top notch.

Great food Ran by teenagers.... Great food
Ran by teenagers though
They ruin it...

Look it's an institution for a reason go there and if you're not a big eater go the kids burgers.

Delicious. Very good pies (great buttery and flaky pastry), excellent baguettes, lovely service.

Beef filled rolls here are amazing!

There are a few places that you have to eat when in Queenstown. First is Ferg Burgers and the next is Pies and slices at Ferg Baker. You guessed it, they are both related to each other and there is no excuses that you did not have time to visit Ferg Baker, as it is located right next door to Ferg Burgers.

The pastry on the pies are flaky yet crispy and the pie filling made of succulent tender beef with just enough gravy to coat the meat without overdoing it, and melted cheese was delicious, rich and perfectly seasoned. AT $6.50 the pie is not the cheapest but is definitely value for money.

Ferg baker is not the cheapest of bakeries but definitely cheaper than eating similar things at a cafe. Serving sizes of the slices are fairly large and for its price, makes it value for money.

As you enter you will be mesmerised by the display of this bakery. So many types and varieties of baked food. From pastries to breads to pies and what not?!! I tried few things and was blown away by the quality and taste. At the backdrop you can see the baking being done. No seating available but hey, u dont need one, just buy a croissant and eat it while deciding what to order next!! Baked with love!!

We bought pastry and muffin as taking away.
There is no queue however Burger has long long line.

Taste is certainly good. I recommend as tourist.
