Review Pub On Wharf - Queenstown

David Garwood
I loved the Pub on Wharf and visited 4 times! I tried the Beef Wellington, Pork Belly and Fish & Chips, all of which were marvellous. I thoroughly enjoyed the live music which was on every night. A good selection of beers were on offer including Mac's Apparition. Thanks to the team for being so welcoming!

Great service, consistent performer, good value meals with a good, relaxed vibe

The pub is one of the many places located around the Steamer Wharf. This one is located on the Beach Street end of the building towards Earnslaw Park. They do have quite a bit of outdoor seeing so it might be easy to miss the entrance to the place. Keep an eye out for the door and the menu located just outside it. The indoor area is quite large and has normal and taller tables to sit at. The menu has a range of standard pub food and drinks. You order at the bar and get a number to bring back to the table. I ended up grabbing some cheesy garlic bread and onion rings and both were nice. They also did have a Beef Wellington on the menu which looked nice. The portions were decent for snacks and a decent amount for sharing. It was a nice place to grab some food and relax for a bit.

Was walking back from work and my eye fell on this place so thought to give it a try believe me it was really nice to listen to some live music and I totally enjoyed the beef wellington only suggestion would be if we could customise the cooking level of the beef it would be amazing but you guys know the best I went back home very happy. Thank you

If there is one pub you would come just for food in town, then this is the one. Of course it’s always better with some beer too.

Nice pub in town. They offer good selection of food with reasonable prices and big portions. Can eat two meals in a day here if I could but wanted to explore more places in Queenstown. Warm and cozy vibe which is a plus.

The wide variety of $20 meal choices makes it somewhat of a challenge to choose. The bottomline is that you won’t be disappointed no matter what you choose. You order food at the bar and it is delivered to your table in a timely manner. You can sit inside or out and the people views are great both places.

Great location with friendly prices, good service. Beef Wellington is just $20, great value, also cooked beautifully and very delicious. Went to few steakhouse in queenstown but nowhere beats here. Strongly recommended.

$20 mains! Ordered the beef Wellington for myself and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meal. Rich, flavorful gravy, perfectly cooked beef and flakey pastry. Also got to try the Chicken Parma, Rump Steak, Lasagne and all were great. Great atmosphere and lovely live music in the pub.

Without a doubt, the best pub in town. They have been offering the "20 dollars meals" for years and they are tasty and big, to calm down the appetite you build up in the slopes. They have live music, some times is great and some other times are less than great. The atmosphere is really friendly and warm.

The staff were super friendly and helpful. Good variety of local beer on tap. Warm and inviting pub with a fire place. Kids meals were good and they had colouring to keep them entertained. Chicken parmi was good but could have been a little bigger.

This was a great meal and location.

Great view, amazing atmosphere and sensational staff!! These guys are deatset legends and the food and drinks are timely and well served! Good portions for big tables of people which is great for larger travelling cohorts!

We always visit the pub when we are in Queenstown. It’s cozy, friendly and just what you want in a pub. I had the pie which was just delicious on a cold day with a beer that went down very nicely. Kids had the burger on kids menu and hubby had ten fish and chips, which he devoured. The staff are super friendly and kind.

Nice atmosphere here, with a great selection of beers and quite decent cocktails. The food was quite delicious as well. The staff are pleasant and helpful.

Best value meal we found in Queenstown with $20 main options. We had the beef Wellington and Pork Belly which were both delicious. Recommend for those looking for a pub meal.

Visited the Pub on Wharf two nights in a row just to have the Ugly Bread on the menu. This place gets a 5 star just for that dish alone.

We decided to go here as it was a cold winter night and just wanted a cozy pub meal. The food is very well priced ($20 for a main!!! AMAZING!!!) when you compare it to other places in Queenstown! The serving size is quite generous also!

We were happy with our experience at the pub!

The Beef Wellington here was just perfect! The beef was juicy and tender and matches with the pastry in an excellent way. The mushroom sauce was good too. And it took us only 20 bucks! Ps: bring your id, they must check that.

Absolutely amazing! Steak cooked perfectly, really good sized portion and only $20 for each steak. Highly recommended and will definitely we back!

Had the $20 dinner special- beef Wellington , a bit higher standard than pub grub which was a pleasant surprise , coupled with a local wine a fire and an acoustic guitarist was a very pleasurable evening

Food was goooddd!!
Ambience was excellent!!
Over crowded at busy hour.
We need to queue for finding seats inside.
We ordered the chicken parmi (the best), the beef wellington and the salmon.

Had the bbq ribs and chicken parmigiana - generous portion sizes and decent food for $20 a meal. We sat outside. Great views over the lake sadly couldn’t see much as it was dark. Would be pretty during the day. Lots of space for kids - specially to play outside while you relax and can watch them from a distance

Most likely ok food but I never ever go back anywhere were I receive rude service from anyone. So disappointing as we were on honeymoon the bar girl was super rude looked at me like a poor lady! Which I’m not.

Dropped in here for a late lunch. Always busy and a good selection of reasonably priced lunch items.

Fish and chips was a lunch time serve. Fish was great and chips were well cooked and looked homemade.

I had the avocado, peas and seaweed salad with poached eggs on toast. All the individual components were lovely but not sure they really go together. In saying that it was all super fresh.

All the other good that I saw looked good. Would come here again.

Excellent location. Sat outside overlooking the snow capped mountains. Food was good. A bit overpriced. I had the chicken parmigiana. Good place to hang out and enjoy the view.

Food and drinks here are really tasty. Enjoyed the pork belly and ribs. Both portions were massive (half the amount would have been enough for us, great for those with a huge appetite). Flavour was not lost in the potion size though as both meals were well above average. I found it hard to stop eating my pork as it was among the best I've had. The drinks were also great, we tried a cider cocktail, mulled wine and a mandarin soda. All were very tasty, the mulled wine my favourite for a cold winter night. This place does get very busy though so try get in early when it's cold out, otherwise there is plenty of outdoor seating.

Arriving late at Queenstown, we (11 of us) went for a quick dinner at Pub on the Wharf, chosen at random.
I had the South Island lamb rump, with rosemary potatoes & green beans. My wife had salmon fillet. Both dishes were of good size.
BBQ pork ribs which one of our friends had, came in an enormous portion. Besides quantity, quality was good too.
(Food - 4/5; Service - 3/5; Ambience - 3/5)
Visited on 16 Jan 2018

Food was great. We ordered the pork belly and the lamb rump and a side of mac n cheese. My lamb rump was over cooked (hence the 4.5) but was still tender and tasty.very good meals for such a low price. ($20 mains) Great atmosphere outside by the fire. Would definitely go back here.

Went here for lunch with the family. This place has great ambience. Warm fireplace with contemporary decor coupled with attentive and pleasant staff always a great start. One of my biggest punts with ordering a pub steak is 'will it _actually_ come out medium rare?'. Pub on Wharf nailed it. Slow cooked and pan seared prime cut NZ beef. Awesome. Best steak I've had in ages.

My husband and I were thinking of somewhere to go for lunch as there are so many options in Queenstown and we were here on holiday. We decided on Pub on Wharf as the menu displayed outside looked good. We walked in and sat down and enjoyed the environment so tidy, clean and warm with the fire going. I ordered the Mango Tango alcoholic beverage and my husband ordered the Rum Runner. We both loved the drinks. I ordered the chicken parmigiana $20 and Jas ordered the Herford Steak $20. Jas is a sheep and beef farmer and he always comments on meat when we eat out he said that was the best steak he has had in along time out and was nice and tender. My meal was beautiful. Very good price and value for money. Totally recommend this place.
Thank you!!!

Try beef Wellington and pork belly! Good value! Not more than 20 dollar per course. Forget to take photos😂 it's always busy there, better to go early.

Super generous servings. Delicious food. Exceeded all expectations! Probably the best pub food I've had. I had the chicken parma and my partner had the beef wellington - both very satisfied with our menu selections.

Went here with the family. We had the $20 menu. I had the parma which was good, it did come with coleslaw instead of normal salad which was a bit weird. Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well.

Prime location on the wharf, great atmosphere inside and out with a variety of seating, big range of tap beers and the best value menu ever! $20 gets you great hunks of lamb rump or a mighty serve of ribs or a number of other things. The place is busy most of the time and for good reason. 'Go to' destination in my view and the way pubs should be. Escapism at its best.

Great atmosphere! Warm and inviting. Plenty to pick from on the menu. Had the salmon. Good price, cooked and presented beautifully. Everyone elses pub grub looked great and we all cleaned our plates.

Nice location, right on the wharf with an amazing view. Comfortable atmosphere. Friendly staff. Nice range of drinks and a good but fairly typical pub menu. Food was delicious.

Friendly staff and quick meal reasonably priced we had bbq pork ribs, which was really really good. Beef Wellington, slow cooked beef, chicken Parma, and lasagne were all very good. All main course dishes were only $20, lasagne was even cheaper. My family enjoyed every dish. Good selection of beers, we got to try something we haven't had before. Later at night even had live music! Location is right by the water, just beautiful.

The MACs couldy white ale is heavenly. For beer lovers.. its the best stuff available.
Having tried so many beers in hope of finding the perfect one, i stumbled upon this gem which is unfortunately only available in New Zealand.. thats sad. So as i said after trying to find an even better one, i have failed.
The staff is friendly and good at their job. After accidentally pouring me 2 mugs of the wrong beer, on requesting the waitress replaced both of them.

Great service, great location, good price and good food! We had brunch here in the winter the nachos and avocado pesto pasta were great. Two thumbs up.

Well impressed with the menu for a queenstown winters day. Had the beef wellington and it was definitely the warm pub food you want after a day spent skiing in sub zeros. Mulled wine was a great combination too.
Be prepared to stand around waiting for a table though. It gets quite busy.
FoodBean
Good place for lunch and a pint. Wife and I shared South-West Chicken Nibbles and Fish Tacos. Good. They have a good range of beers and wines and the location is great. Gets a bit rowdy at night but great for lunch if you are not the rowdy type.

COOL SPOT! GOD FOOD. Feeling hungry Saturday arvo we stopped here for lunch, sat outside, live music in park alongside pub, gorgeous sunny day and the food was outstanding!
I had the whiting chips & salad $17.00, 2 lovely pieces of fish with a light crisp batter, my husband had the stuffed pork belly on ciabatta with apple sauce $17.00, he raved about it, very good food.
I loved the Kopiko Bay Chardonnay!
Staff offer water which I like but you order & pay for food inside, all ok by me!
Very friendly staff, I love Queenstown, hope to come back soon.
Thanks

Dropped in for a quick meal and to be honest the value for money was excellent, great beer, good food just a shame the barman was more interested in checking his own reflection out than serving customers.
Southern Fella
Had a great night here, staff were very helpful finding us a table on a busy night when rugby was on, when we thought we were not going to get a good view of the screens another tv was hidden behind a roller blind that automatically rolled up when the game started! so we ended up with an awesome view. Meals were great, only $20 for mains, I had the lamb, it was perfectly cooked and was such good value for money.

We (9 of us!) arrived on the first saturday of Winter Fest. The place was packed, luckly a table became free quickly and the waitress wasted no time in coming over and clearing the emptyplates and glasses. She gave us menus explaining that we order at the bar. Food arrived in good time the beers were cold and the coffees hot!! Then I spied the mulled wine, amazing full flavour and it kept me there for hours!! This is definately a "local" for next time we are down!!!

Had coffee here with family the other day, was pretty average tasting & luke warm. The place was empty but it took a while for the female waitress behind the bar to notice us, she didn't seem interested in taking our order while other male staff members stood behind & around the bar chatting away without acknowledging me standing there waiting to order! Don't waste your time here.
