Review Roaring Megs Restaurant - Queenstown

The Bouj Crew
VISIT: end of February 2020 FOOD: Warm Prawn Salad, Confit of Lamb Shoulder, Char Grilled Wakanui Aged Grain Fed Sirloin Steak LOW-CARB OPTIONS: Warm Prawn Salad, Most of the main courses and sub side with a low-carb side This place was recommended to us as my husband was looking for lamb. So local hands down recommended this place and all our dishes were delicious! I couldn't help myself when I saw Warm Prawn Salad and it was delicious and light! My husband absolutely loved his lamb and my steak was so moist and juicy. The server was very friendly and attentive and it's a cute little place. Unfortunately for them, a fitness gym moved in above them, so there is all this random banging during dinner! I wouldn't let that deter you, because the food is delicious and once you know that hopefully it won't be as much of a surprise!

I think the greatest strength of New Zealand is its inclusive and diverse culture, which is well reflected in this restaurant. The lamb chops for dinner are very tender and the sauce is very good(mint sauce something)We also ordered noodle soup,Si Chuan chicken and eggplant which was amazing, the soup is in rich flavor and noodle is hand-pulled. Forgive us for forgetting to take pictures because we were in such a hurry to eat.

Highly recommended! Had an excellent dining experience at Roaring Megs restaurant. The waitress was very friendly and kind. The lamb rack and sirloin steak were cooked very well, and the crumble was very well balanced and delicious. Will come back again!

Nice restaurant and staff. I had the rack of lamb. It was good, maybe a little over spiced on the outside, but good. The woman who was working the evening I was there was on the floor by herself. She was working very hard and did a good job considering the number of tables she had. I had the pudding for dessert. I would pass on this as that was the only part of the meal I didn't enjoy much... Overall it was a good experience.

I had a wonderful dinner here! The awarded dish, Lamb shoulder config was delicious. A traditional New Zealand restaurant which is precisely an unforgettable experience and a unique environment. I do recommend you to try the awarded dish.

Food was really good but the servings should have been 20% bigger I think. I order the rack of lamb and while the meat was sufficient, it needed more veggies and sides. The presentation and service was excellent tho

The food, and wine were great and the service attentive and helpful. Unfortunately the abalone starter wasn't available and we went with the warm prawn salad and the venison main which was great and finished with a very good cheesecake. The decor achieved a transition in space and time to a Victorian era house. Like all good European restaurants should have there was even a very good calvodos. Not something that you see everyday in Aoetearoa-New Zealand.

I used to come here with my family here years ago! Even though management has change the lamb is still as delicious as always. The service is best than ever! Overall a wonderful experience! Would recommend.

Lovely atmosphere and the food was beautiful. Tender, juicy and hit the spot! It says a lot that my teenager was satisfied after the meal. (Granted, after eating everyone's leftovers but he devoured the meal) Thanks guys, we'll be back.
