Review Gibbston Valley Cheese - Queenstown

No brainer stop. Had the cheese scone and Cheese and Ham toasted roll - both next level. Bike hire for trails out front, food and wine in amazing surroundings - well done to whoever put this together.

Stunning spot. Fantastic wine tour and guide was very informative. The restaurant served an exquisite lunch and the wine is 👌

Alex was great, even while they were having power issues we still had a tasting flight with cheeses. Excellent knowledge and she catered to our intermediate experience with wines. Excellent cheeses too, I especially liked the blue

As with all wineries, this place is located in a picturesque area of Queenstown amongst the many wineries in the region. They offer complimentary cheese tasting, so I came here to try some local cheeses straight after a wine tasting. I ordered the three cheese platter but also added an extra cheese as I couldn't decide. It was beautifully presented, and the cheese was excellent.

Another great experience. Friendly staff and well priced food. Beer tasting paddle $10 for 3 decent sized glasses.

Lovely staff and very helpful. Great location and a great selection of goods to take away. Cheese and a selection of chutneys etc to sample. Had the Mac and cheese but once again the aroma had us eating before we remembered to take a photo.

Highly recommend.

I definitely love cheese and I’m so in love with this place! We enjoyed the cheese platter with 3 kinds of wine for the price of $20, not too bad! Also had the cheese roll that I think lacks cheese in it, all I can taste is bread. We had a magnificent view while dining and relaxing.

Love this place for a cheese stock up! Great local cheese and also condiments and crackers to boot-perfect for a cheese platter on the go!
Stock up while you can here as it’s the perfect match with their great wine!

Imagine relaxing in a sunny garden overlooking vineyards while eating gourmet homemade cheeses (and toasted cheese sandwiches), charcuterie and other deli items, accompanied by a glass of Gibbston Valley wine. Sounds bliss… They also have a cute shop selling all their cheeses (our favourite was the goat’s milk feta), chutneys, ice creams, cold drinks, cheese boards and accessories.

Highly recommend visiting if you are in Queenstown!

We stopped in twice during a recent holiday. First to sample and collect a totally ridic amount of fine cheeses. And then again to consume a giant doorstop toastie made with an amazing raclette and aged gouda that rendered us unable to eat for the remainder of the day (in the best possible way). Respect.

Gibson Valley Winery is the oldest in the region and the old boy (who's 80) who started this still rolls up and says hi to the staff.

The garden is full off blossom trees and flowers, jazz music in the background - Bloody Prefect!

We had the Rose Wine with mixed cheese and meat board looking up to the Cadrona hills - LIFE IS GOOD RIGHT NOW!

Had a lovely afternoon here watching the world go by, sitting in the winter sunshine.
The Cheesery itself it's well equipped and you can easily stop by for a platter and a glass of wine, as we did. Or perhaps get cheese and condiments to go. Either way you will happy. Our cheese platter was plentiful, we selected 3 cheeses and purchased an additional small baguette of fresh bread (it was super fresh!) A glass of Gibbston Valley Pinot Noir complemented the cheese nicely. Perfect spot.

Even in Winter you can sit out the front in beaming sun and eat an amazing cheese platter and a glass of local Pinot. Everything is amazing and so nice. All I ask for is some olive oil to compliment the ridiculously fresh bread. Great great great place

Gibbston Valley is glorious on a sunny day. The 20 minute drive from Queenstown was well worth it, we decided, as we basked on the verandah of Gibbston Valley Cheese cafe with our selection of cheeses. Their cheeseboard ($17.50) was one of the best we’ve had, mainly due to the fact that they allow you to sample the cheese before you choose, so you don’t end up with bad choices that you dislike. Unfortunately I can’t for the life of me remember the exact names of the 3 cheeses we chose, but there was a blue cheese, a goat’s cheese, and something like a double cream brie. All excellent, and the homemade chutney served along with it was noteworthy as well, fragrant with a hint of spice.

Our only regret was not ordering wine to go along with the cheese, but we were planning to have some at the nearby winery, so sadly we had to abstain here. Take some time to wander around their shop, purchase some cheese or homemade spreads (they also sell ‘wine jelly’, to go with your cheeseboard at home), or soak in the sunlight and views from their verandah.
