Review Finz Seafood And Grill Queenstown - Queenstown

Great service and waitresses were very friendly and helpful! I'm glad they made quick check ins consistently to make sure we are doing well! Food was awesome too, but just a note the seafood chowder tasted unique (nothing wrong but definitely not the ones you tasted in Seattle) and has a little fishy taste. Overall, lovely restaurant to visit! Seafood was quite fresh :)

Thank you for making our dinner a memorable one. The food was divine😋 Thank you chef👏Also, a special shout out to beautiful Michelle( I think she is from the Phillipine) for your distinctive service especially it was a busy night but you wear that beautiful smile throughout the whole night and make sure we are bring taking care off. You are a STAR and a credit to your company. Also, thank you for the surprise birthday cake and card😍 and the lovely Indian guy ( Manager i think). I highly recommend this place especially if you are a seafood lover.

Great views, great food, great service. Came here to get our fix of seafood with the oysters mussels and crayfish and was not disappointed. The oysters were nice and fat and fresh, the crayfish was super sweet and juicy. Our sever Michelle looked after us the whole night and was terrific at making sure that our experience and the food was fantastic. Thank you for making my birthday celebrations one to remember!

Very good dinner place with seafood. Had the green lips mussels which is very yummy. The pasta was handmade and very good texture and taste as well. Love the chips and the glazed prawns as well. Overall the seafood are fresh. The waitress Nichelle who serve us also very friendly and she is so caring giving us blanket as the weather is cold we sitting outside of the restaurant.

We came by for a lateish dinner (around 2015). It was still quite busy but we were able to get a table without a booking. Their menu unsurprisingly focuses on seafood. The restaurant is located within the Steamer Wharf with entrances both inside the Wharf building and on the lake side. After mulling over what to get, I ended up going with the seafood spaghetti. The spaghetti had a nice bite to it and the dish had a nice selection of seafood. The dish was quite tasty and easy to eat. I also grabbed a sticky date pudding for dessert and that was also quite tasty. If you are hankering for seafood, this place is probably the best bet for it. They are always busy so you should book a table if you really want to try it.

Was recommended by a friend, absolutely loved it here. We celebrated our 17year anniversary and got a complementary mocktail. Had a young girl as our waiter very knowledgeable and great service. When we were rushed to our table by a guy at the front and just left to it, was the only down fall

We searched for a seafood restaurant in queenstown on our last night and this place popped up as one of the top searches. And it did not disappoint! Everything is super fresh especially the sashimi and seared scallop. We were craving for some beef after a long day so we decided to order short ribs despite being in a seafood restaurant, and it was superb too! We would like to thank Michelle who was our waitress. She was super friendly, attentive and professional making it a delightful evening together with the nice food 😋

My first visit to NZ with my partner and we had a fabulous dining experience with Finz today. The professional hospitality provided by Michelle was impressive. She made us feel welcomed and gave us an amazing experience. Dishes here were also great, seafood was fresh; and we highly recommended the 12-hour slowly cooked beef ribs. Will absolutely recommend this restaurant to my friends.

Was served by Michelle, who was very friendly, attentive and made very good recommendations - very pleased with her service. The resturant had great ambience, overlooking the lake and good vibes. Highly recommended if you are in Queenstown.

We wondered past this place in the afternoon while walking around the town and checked out the menu and thought it looked really good. So later that night we went back to have dinner. We were greeted by a very friendly staff member called Michelle who seated us outside overlooking the lake and The Remarkables, talk about a table with a view. The place was very busy but the orders were taken promptly and the food didn't take long at all......Michelle returned regularly to check on drinks etc. The food was really good, after the main meal Michelle suggested that we should check out the dessert menu , my wife and I shared a tiramisu and my father had the sticky date pudding, both were out of this world!!! Overall we couldn't fault this place, great good, for view and really good staff, we would highly recommend this place and will be going again for sure.

10/10 Service, 10/10 view, 10/10 food. It was my partners birthday and they all went out of there way to sing happy birthday, Evan surprised him with a card and a little cake. Thank you for this experience and highly recommend!

Phenomenal experience at Finz! The food, the drinks, the service and the atmosphere were exceptional. We had a perfect dinner celebrating our anniversary at Finz, and the managers / staff made sure that we had a sensational experience. Would recommend the hand made spaghetti & cray fish, as well as the divine sticky date pudding. Best pasta we’ve ever had. We will definitely be back again!

Beautiful dinner there at around 7:30pm. Sunset was just there to be seen at the outdoor seats. Rather chilly outside but the staff members especially Michelle was quite considerate in giving blankets and hot water to guests. Michelle was also very helpful and joyful and served us promptly throughout the whole dinner. Overall we really enjoyed the view and the dinner there despite the chilly weather!

Amazing restaurant in Queenstown with really friendly staff. This was the only restaurant in the town with oysters available. The food was cooked perfectly, just on a little pricey side. But I would definitely recommend if you have the money.

Food is exceptional. We didn't get the waitress' name but she was amazing. She wasn't assigned to us but always came to check if we need anything and was very friendly and had a beautiful smile. We had saved up to come to QT so not wealthy by any standard, we were abit apprehensive about going to very nice restaurant but she definitely made our dinning experience delightful, thank you ☺️

Great place for seafood lovers with great view of the lake and mountain. Ordered the seafood platter for 2 and the crayfish Totally in love with the seafood especially for the oysters which are very fresh. Served by a very friendly waitress Jhade. She is very helpful in sharing more details on the menu

We had to walk in and did not manage to secure a reservation as we were unsure as to what time our day tour would end. They gave us a table nonetheless, and did not rush us during our meal even though it was rather crowded. The food was scrumptious and service was excellent. My kids would not stop raving about the food. An awesome way to end our last day in Queenstown!

Thank you, Jhade, and all the Finz staff for making our anniversary so special. I was told to book ahead in Queenstown. Do not miss out on Finz while considering other choices. The food, the wine and the incredible service will make our dining experience one of the most memorable. Perfectly located on the wharf for those, like us, who do a day tour. Beautifully cooked fresh produce. Our photos will show the prawns and scallops for starters, fish n chips and lamb for the mains and chocolate mousse for dessert. Everything was perfect. Wheelchair friendly with amenities on site.

Don't try the restaurant deside the lake, most of them overpriced. However, Find is the most. I'm still hungry after a 30dollor pasta.

Beautiful restaurant with an excellent choice of dishes. I ordered the monkfish on white beans and the sticky date pudding for dessert. Both were very tasty and fresh. The food came out at an average time which was expected for the time of night. The waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. Would definitely recommend Finz if you are in Queenstown.

Salmon was fresh and well cooked. Cauliflower had a nice texture and flavour. Lamb shank was a very good size. Lots of sage - may be a bit less would have been better personally. Meat was a bit dry on the outside and wasn’t has tender and falling off the bone. Had better lamb shanks else where in my time. The Creme Egg martini was very nice. It was suppose to have a full raw egg in it... couldn’t taste it though.
Food Hexe
Heard rave reviews about this place. Sadly not one coming from me. Ordered the seafood platter, salt and pepper calamari way too salty. Crostini- funny tasting and couldn’t see the point. Mussels and clams in a beautiful broth - where was the tasty sourdough to mop it up???? Ordered a side of chips, soggy and just horrible. Standout of the night was the sashimi but you can’t muck that up can you???!!!!!!!

Wine list was underwhelming and disappointing to say the very least.

Wouldn’t return
Streaky Eats
Had the prawn and clam spaghetti, cooked in white wine, chilli, lemon and rocket.

The spaghetti was served with good amount of prawns and clams, which tasted really fresh. The sauce was nice and creamy, however, the heat can build up slowly from the chillis. The more I eat, the more I felt the sauce was a taste of chilli and lemon on it's own, somehow didn't meld very well for me personally, lack of synergy you could say.

Bright side the seafood was enjoyable, and the other food items are probably much better.
Marich
Visited this restaurant for dinner. It has 4 or 5 vegetarian options. We had risotto and tomato ragu which were very nice but a bit expensive. The ambience was very nice and staff were attentive.

Probably the best seafood restaurant I’ve ever been to! Would definitely recommend this place.

Taste: 4.5/5
Portion: 5/5
Location: 5/5
Price: 4/5
Service: 5/5

I’ve been living in Queenstown for more than two years and I have visited finz for many times.
I just want to mention that service is great! Staff is friendly, especially the manager of the restaurant Kirk is very helpful. If you don’t have table reserved be sure that you will get it there in 30-40 minutes. If you have some time, you can have drinks at a next door bar, which is nice! Once table at finz is free, the manager will come to find you at the bar and will show you a table.
Staff looks after their customers, and if you want to have delicious food with friendly atmosphere I recommend you to visit this place!

Bluff oysters which they serve are amazing! Try them! :)
Would have given a higher mark but the oysters from Waiheke were a bit stringy and had an aftertaste. The travel from the north island to qtown tooks its toll.

However, the blue cod fish and chips plus house wine (yes, it's just a house wine!) were excellent!

Great service, top location, nice ambience.

Tried this place out because my mom have been wanting to eat salmon for a few days now. When we got there we were seated immediately and she got the last salmon of the day. I on the other hand got the sole with butter sauce. The food were delicious and couldnt stop eating my dish. I loved it!

Terrible awful food!!!!! We came for early dinner at 5pm. We had the fish tacos which were tasteless and came on this weird hard shell. Messy and just boring! We had the fish and chips...4 tiny pieces of fish- the chips were the highlight of our entire meal! We also had the tuna which was not the best and not worth $40. It was presented beautifully but all i could taste was sesame oil. Our first meal in Queenstown not of to a great start...I left feeling totally ripped off! Great customer service there i must admit! Very attentive staff and the lady who served us was fantastic!

It's edible...

Mom insisted on this place as it was 'lively' and 'by the lake' despite our reservations when we looked at the food whilst walking by. The food was below average. It's edible but that's all. The seafood platter didn't taste fresh and nothing stood out. The cray fish was extremely tiny for $75 and not to mention, overcooked and just a waste. That was disappointing. The fish and chips was bland. Lamb shank and the bbq ribs were ok but for that price, you would expect more/better. Overall overpriced and nothing to get excited about. Sadly dissapointing. The service was good though.

Super nice service and lakeview. We ordered seafood platter and cocktails. All were fresh with tasty sauces. A little expensive given the portion size. But watching the sunset over a cocktail was amazing.
Carl
not bad but honestly not amazing. Given the 'hype', we were sadly disappointed. Portion sizes are tiny, meals weren't bad but again nothing special

Nice location by the lake and really nice service throughout the night. A really nice place to just eat and enjoy the bounty of the sea.

Would definitely recommend the crispy prawn entree. Almost like a de constructed prawn salad where the beautifully deep fried prawns are coated with a nice spicy, creamy sauce on lettuce cups. Would go back just for that. Had the whole lemon sole for main and the only problem was that there wasn't enough crumb.

Nicely cooked food prepared to an excellent standard. A place to go to if you like seafood. We went paragliding earlier that day and received a voucher for 1/2 price fish and chips.

This was a really great meal. And I have to report that this was some of the best fish n' chips I've ever had! We selected the cod which was promised to be a meatier less flakey option and it delivered. We all share the NZ green lipped muscles in a white wine cream sauce. So awesome!!!!!!!! Our friends shared the seafood sampler and normally I am very leery of such offerings as they generally lack attention to detail as so many different items are jumbled onto a large plate. Not the case here! It was great and each item was given attention and care. All goo all the way around!

We had Canterbury Sirloin Beef, Prawns&clams spaghetti and kids meal fish&chips, plus half dozen of oysters. Sirloin Beef is char-grilled, super tender and 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Prawns spaghetti really nice as well, my son enjoy his fish&chips as well. Most important is the view is phenomenal and service is the best! Will come back tomorrow!

Great location, make a reservation. Food was great, portions were in the small side, recommend buying a side as potatoes, veggie etc aren't included.

Beware of this restaurant! I am currently sitting in this restaurant & I am still waiting for my main course 50 mins after ordering a main course for dinner. I was served the wrong red wine, my friends were never offered any beverage service after their first drinks, the bread for the table never arrived so we compained to the manager. The restaurant manager (American girl) was forceful & abrupt with her reply when we told her the bread was still MIA - she didn't listen to me & did not apologize. We are now leaving the restaurant after 55 minutes and have organized not to pay a thing. Not happy & hangry!!

Very nice professional and friendly staff here. A good combination. Queenstown seems to be a breeding ground for quality hospitality persons. Great trade craft. Yet to meet a Kiwi though. Where the hell are they? Maybe Sydney??

Lovely little restaurant on the wharf right in the center of queenstown. A close proximity walk from many hotels so easy to get to if you are a tourist. Had the prawn and cockle spaghetti which was divine. Not too bad for price. Was thinking of this pasta for days after! Friendly and attentive service from staff also.

We were here for dinner in Queenstown, i had the melon cocktail and half a crayfish. The crayfish was cooked well and tender. Great experience, would come back the next time i visit this beautiful town.

On our last day at Queenstown , we were looking for a good place to have dinner but perhaps it turned out to be only restaurant in NZ which disappointed us..Food was not upto the mark specially considering the premium that they charge as compare to other joints in the nearby locations

Due to weather, we had to sit inside..ambiance was quite average , service was very slow..
We ordered slow roasted shoulder of lamb , it was average in taste and we didn't even know that no sides will be given along with it( normally in other NZ restaurants it was served with sides like mash potatoes )

I didn't really like Finz much. It's a very efficient operation in terms of churning the customers through, the food was quite good in a soulless sort of way, but we felt rushed and harried. My supposedly char grilled salmon was fresh but strangely watery, as if it had been poached rather than grilled. The prices were very reasonable but I probably wouldn't eat there again given the range of excellent food available elsewhere in Queenstown.

Delicious meal but we didn't have seafood! Well we began with the squid and then had lamb and steak (We'd had amazing oysters for lunch). Excellent food, pleasant ambience, great Welsh waitress. Spot on service. Would return

We loved this place! It's right on the lake, and has a very warm ambiance. The service was wonderful and attentive. We enjoyed our meal very much. The fish and chips are terrific and so is the salt and pepper squid! I loved the turbot, and our son really enjoyed the pork chop, which was a nice surprise at a seafood restaurant.

This is a seafood speciality place. Not sure how they make money because the place was near empty - most likely not due to service because they were fairly attentive.

Garlic loaf and scallops for entree. The loaf was good, but $15 for 5 tiny spots on a plate which were supposedly scallops seemed a bit much.

Our mains were fairly plain, but that was likely to be due to our choice of mains as well. I opted for the calamari and the wife for crumbed fish of the day. The meals came with coleslaw, but they were pretty small portions of coleslaw.

Overall not a bad place. It looked clean and has a reasonably good atmosphere, which was let down this night by the lack of people. It is however perched right on the waterfront side of Qtown, so would make for pretty lunch views if thats what youre into.
