Review The World Bar - Queenstown

Roman Battaglia
We ended up coming here for dinner, then we also ended up here later that night for the silent disco they do on Wednesdays. The food was really good, I got a vegan burger and my friend got the fish and chips, both were delicious. The bartenders were really friendly. Later that night, the silent disco was awesome. Soooo much fun. You had three different channels, with different genres of music. It was such a blast, we saw there was a huge line out the door even past midnight!

Really enjoyed it here. We came twice over the weekend. Super busy because of the marathon, our food did come out a bit warm but we choose to still eat it despite offers to rectify. We only give the feedback to save further customers complaining. We appreciated the offers to change but were happy to eat it. (Appreciated the complimentary soft drinks) The next time we had a wee cheeky Chappy serving us he was funny and cool and read the room of his customers. Well done sir. A real cool groovy place. Will recommend and return.

We visited on Easter Monday, when the weather was gorgeous and every single outdoor table was occupied. We took a high table inside with a nice view of the bar. The beer selection was great, and we ordered pints of Panhead Sandman Hazy IPA (yum!!) and the Loaded Nachos with Chili and Guacamole. The nachos, served in a hot cast iron pan, were among the best I have ever tasted! The service was as friendly, the beers came quickly, and the food came very shortly thereafter. We loved our meal and would be here often if we lived in QT!

Food was delicious, as had fish and chips, bbq cheeseburger and fish tacos. Cocktail dangerous daiquiri was really good as well. The ladies served us so well and made us feel welcome. Thank you 😊

Visited from the US and immediately felt like a local. The beer selection was fantastic, service was quick, and food was top notch. We had the cauliflower starter, and chicken burger, and “world burger” for our main. Overall the vibes were immaculate in this place, and we’ll definitely be coming again during our short time in New Zealand

Loved the food and atmosphere! There was live music that was wonderfully performed. It is loud because of that though. The food was amazing! The fish and chips is enormous!

Great stop for a burger and brew. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating as well. Casual and close to the water. Staff was friendly and we enjoyed our meal.

The atmosphere is very comfortable to sit around and catch up with friends. Also I personally like their cocktail teapot, it's very refreshing and nice. However, the Nachos I think were quite tough to bite as it's overcooked or leave it outside for too long hours (just guessing). Hopefully it will be better next time.

HOLY FREAKING MOLY… THIS PLACE ROCKS!!! But wait the best part of this bar is the bartender named El (L or Elle) not sure how to spell it… but…. She is the best bartender in the entire town. When I have kids I want them to grow up and be like El. Nothing brings a bigger smile to my face than entering the lovely establishment of world bar and seeing El, GRINDING behind the bar ensuring every customer is getting the best experience possible. Forever grateful for her service!

We tried to get in here on NYE 2018 (tonight) and our 32 year old friend didn’t have his ID so he didn’t get in. To be honest, coming from a background in hospitality, I completely understand not letting him in, especially on NYE, you’re gonna be a lot stricter. However our 2 friends that had already got in paid $20 to get into a (not busy) bar. Having not had our other friend get in they walked out and asked politely if they could have their money back. The guy said no, it’s your choice to leave.. as we proceeded to leave the guy sitting at the eftpos machine came up to the other bouncers and was swearing about us (regarding our friends trying to get their money back) we had no issue with our friend not being let in, being sworn at as we walked off was completely unprofessional and unnecessary. They don’t deserve you’re money, plenty of other bars round the area that smile as you walk in :)

Absolutely appalling service! The door man was so rude and refused us entry two nights in a row, first time as we did not have any ID, despite he fact we are both over 25 and completely sober. The second time we were refused even with ID, again completely sober. The guy was on a complete power trip and was enjoying ruining our night. We don’t even get asked for ID back home in Melbourne for even some of the most prestigious nightclubs and bars. Will be telling everyone we know to avoid this establishment. We would suggest replacing your doorman with someone who knows how to appropriately interact with others instead of some self-entitled f**k-Witt.

Great atmosphere, with a wide range of options on the menu to suite everyone! <br/>We didn’t book and got seated outside, right under the heaters where it was nice and warm. As soon as a table became available inside we were moved (only took about 10mins).<br/>Food service took around 45mins but was worth the wait. Perfect serving size!

Cool place to hangout. Seemed to be one of the locals' favourites<br/>. Just grab your drink, order food, and sit wherever you want, to chill! Had great beer and huge burger.. Service is pretty good, there was some billing issue and they settled it easily. Ambience is also lively.

The outdoor seating area and ambience are really nice for a bar, but our burgers were not great at all. They were incredibly dry, only had the tiniest sliver of cheese and weren't tasty. I have had much better burgers elsewhere. For the full review, check out stormechaser.com

Happy vibes! Happy vibes! Happy vibes!<br/><br/>'A stop for some, home for many' - this line is too true for The World Bar. The staff (and many of their diners) feel so at home. So did I. There were live music with soft rock/acoustic genres being the theme.<br/><br/>Great selection of food and beverage.<br/><br/>Other than the laid back relaxing mood and amazing vibes, the food is on the average side. We ordered their pulled pork burger, puller pork tacos, fish and chips and classic burger. (Pork was a little too dried and flavour wasn't fully infused into the meat. Both skinny and chunky chips could be improved. Skinny chips at the bottom were a little soggy. Fish was a little over fried).<br/><br/>P/S: We were there for lunch and the place was packed. <br/><br/>Overall, great place to catch up with your mates over a drink or two. I would assume their vibe at night would be double the fun.<br/><br/><br/>

Great burgers. Teapot drinks are cute and finicky though very over priced (and served with shot glasses) All in all a good place to chill with a couple of drinks on a cold night

Great for drinks and nibbles. We sat out the front before the sun went down and this was great for is as the younger crowdwere moving in as we were leaving. We shared a beef nachos and didn't need to go out for dinner afterwards. Great sitting outside. Both girls serving us were great ,the guy never came back after we asked for side plates .

Had the southern chicken burger and partner had the Mega Burger. Both were amazing! the fried chicken was some of the best I've had in the world and the mega burger had some incredible flavor. I would recommend this place to anyone craving a great tasty burger in Queenstown. The best place to get a burger in the whole town.

I broke my burger drought for 'the best burger in Queenstown 2016' and it was indeed very good. The mega burger has some giant onion rings which have a very tasty spicy batter lifting them about most. World Bar is a cosy atmosphere with live music and a good range of beers and cocktails - in a teapot for those who like the quaint. Service was a bit slow but once you have a drink in hand it's hard not to like the place a lot.

We planned to have a casual dinner at the world bar on a Tuesday night and ended up partying for hours! It's certainly for the young hearted - love it. This gorgeous bar serves the most fun, American style food. Mac-n-cheese balls, fried chicken waffles.. the list goes on! We also had some delicious cocktail shots served in teapots which kicked off a great night! I definitely recommend this place to anyone stopping by.

Warm and cosy bistro-bar we stumbled upon. There was a large fire going which was awesome. Good was great at a fair price. Chicken and bacon waffles were spot on, the chicken was juicy and moist. Cauliflower wings were throughly enjoyed. Good service.

We were having a walk through the town centre, trying to find a suitable place for lunch, and came across The World Bar - we had a quick look at their menu and thought their meals looks pretty good. You have a choice of sitting inside or out - we chose in, because we weren't wearing too many layers and it was a bit cold. The staff are attentive and friendly, and were happy to let us know what their most popular meals were. We ordered the Chicken Waffles and the Fish Tacos - both were quite good, but particularly the waffles. Prices are reasonable, especially for Queenstown!<br/><br/>We were tempted to get the Cast Iron Nachos - we saw on another table just how massive they are, would definitely be enough to share for two people.

Great spot for a drink, some delicious food and I hear the nightlife is great (we weren't there that late!)<br/><br/>We sat outside and it was a great atmosphere, we started with drinks off a good wine menu and then progressed to an earlyish dinner. The nachos were to die for and the burger divine.<br/><br/>Defiantly recommend this place for just a late afternoon drink, a yummy snack or a full fledged meal. There was plenty in this menu we were keen to try.<br/><br/>

Food was a little disappointing. Ordered a burger, was asked if medium well was ok, said yes but was delivered a burger that was medium rare at best. Told the staff and showed them the pretty much raw center of the meat, shrug, "I'll tell the kitchen". Would like to have seen more done.<br/><br/>Service was friendly however, nice location, sit outside of you can, good people watching. Do wish the outside eating area was smoke free, always the best spots reserved for smokers, not nice when you have kids with you. Beer was cold, their house ale very good.

--2017--<br/>We came here a few times on our latest trip to Qtown. We accidentally over ordered with nachos, chilli cheese fries and salad - doesn't sound like a lot but the servings are generous. We're we're a bit disappointed the waitress didn't warn us it was too much food for 2 people - we would have ordered less. All tasty though. LOVE sitting outside in the sun with a cider. So good. We will definitely return here. <br/><br/>--2015--<br/>Loved The World Bar! Burgers were delicious and the service I could not fault. Price is what we expected; we ordered 2 burgers with chips and 2 salads and it came to about $60. <br/>Definitely worth a visit if you're thinking of checking it out - however get in early as there can be a short 10-15min wait for a table.

Absolutely hopeless bar, terrible service, appalling on every level. Don't go here, you have loads of far better options in Queenstown. Avoid
