Review 1876 Bar And Restaurant - Queenstown

Fun bar where the drinks are a great price, even better if you come during happy hour. Only issue is the low price maybe does not attract the best behaviour. Group of lads walking out of a bathroom stall at once does not shout good clean fun.

Great place. Great service. Value for money. Note Saturday's very busy...not for us who like to spend our money quickly...so we like cocktails all night long not just when convenient to bar .. Still 5 star

The people here are so friendly! The guy at the bar was so lovely and made such nice drinks that we came back the next day and the day after that. Cheapest drinks ever. I mean $8 and $10 cocktails... come on ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜. The food we had was really yum, came out quickly and all the cocktails we tried were yuuuum. Our favorites were the Malfy gin drink with grapefruit, Cucumber, mint and lime along with the passionfruit cocktail. We tried heaps of places when we were in Queenstown and this was the cheapest but best all rounder for drinks and food too.

A wonderful bar in downtown Queensland with an outstanding happy hour. The atmosphere is relaxed with plentiful indoor and outdoor seating. Beer was delicious and staff was helpful with suggestions and a taste. The burger was nicely done and came with chips. There is a daily food special that is reasonably priced. Happy Hour prices are unbelievably reasonable 7.50 for a pint and just as reasonable after happy hour. A dj was there at 6pm on a Friday night. Meet locals and tourists both here. Did not miss it!!!

This bar is a student's best friend in queenstown, next to there being cheap drinks all day long (even cheaper during happy hours 4-6) you got meal deals for 10 dollars (see photos for examples) every day! This place is 100% the best bang for your buck in Queenstown!

Serves the most generous cocktails for the most reasonable price probably in all of NZ. Just look at the size of this Malfy GnT I got for $10. Bloody bargain!

Pretty good. The food was ok and my hazy IPA wasn't that hazy but it was decent. everybody vaping out the front. They certainly attracted a super fun crowd

After walking past several times this week, I can now see why this place is pumping all afternoon, and no doubt well into the night. A large pint glass of tap beer ($4) and the same of cider ($5), during happy hours 4:00-6:00pm, and then $5 pints all day/everyday! My son and I stop in here for a couple of drinks each after a pretty busy day, and while itโ€™s too busy to find a seat outdoors, itโ€™s hot enough that we enjoy some shade inside. Love the glasses that get set on dispensers on the bar, and then fill up from the bottom to a preset volume - brilliant! No wasted time using both hands to pour a brew. Great stop for an early (very cheap) drink if youโ€™re heading out.

We had fish & chips and a steak. Considering the factor that it is advertised as a bar, the food were surprisingly good and very reasonably priced.

Stopped by when it was quite busy and managed to get a table outside. It wasn't too cold since they had blankets available and outdoor heating. They didn't have table service so we went inside to order. It was busy so it took a while for the food to arrive but we were told beforehand. What was nice was the cheap cocktails that they had. Food was decent and well portioned for the price. Nice place for drinks and/or dinner.

Me and my partner had the deal of the day which was the honey soy chicken pasta and it was delicious. House spirits are cheap and cheerful and plenty of ales to choose from.

Great bar staff, cheap drinks and cool vibe. Chicken Burger was awesome - beef definitely wasn't the best but everything else here was awesome !

Drinks here are crazy cheap but so good, great vibes, only criticism would be we nearly died from how spicy the buffalo wings were lol. Wanted a hoodie but they didn't have in stock

I popped into 1876 last night for a quick bite to eat and a few drinks.

The mulled wine was great and super affordable at $5 per glass however the wedges and calamari rings were both average. They tasted exactly the same which is odd considering they are two totally different items. The both heavily tasted of lemon pepper.

I would defiantly pop back for a drink but probably not for food.

Service was good also
Great food and staff!

The cheapest drinks in Queenstown! Food is not bad pub fair At all. However they had to bar tenders working the night I was there that I was so gutted with. The worst staff I saw in my whole time in Queenstown. So unhappy looking and obviously didnโ€™t want to be there. The guy literally tried to ignore me so he would have to get my drink, when all he was doing was leaning on the bar.

Great place with great friendly staff. Drinks are cheap but a great selection to chose from. Can see why it is the busiest with their great specials plus they also have a happy hour. Any wonder it is always busy. Yes there are lots of younger people but that is all part of being on holiday mixing with everyone plus when you live (oops typo but probably true as we are here to do the wineries) love to drink you need to save here and there!!!!
Streaky Eats
Probably the busiest bar in town. You'll find this place crowded with mostly the younger demographic, can get pretty loud and rowdy. Advertised outside the bar with a $5 beer sign, one just could not resist the value.

One cool feature of this place is the use of the Bottoms Up system for the beer dispenser, something that looked like a cool idea you see from online videos is actually used here.

Also, witnessed someone got carried into an ambulance..

Great stop for an early (very cheap) drink if youโ€™re heading out.
We stop back in here for a late lunch bite a few days later and order 3 entree for $30. While the tastes were ok, we are a little disappointed at the portion sizes, and feel like they donโ€™t really represent great value for money.
Cherise
Delicious risotto with cherry tomatoes, mushrooms and spinach and pesto - such awesome flavour and was delivered nice and hot! $4 house red for happy hour and daily meal specials on offer - including a vegan burger I was tempted to try! My choice didnโ€™t disappoint. Only reason it wasnโ€™t a 5 - staff friendliness behind the bar could improve just a tad.

Had some amazing pork ribs and steak here. Perfect way to end the day after a long hike. Great atmosphere. Food and drinks are very reasonably priced too! Highly recommended.

Price: ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ
Affordable drinks after a stroll in town. We paid 15 NZD for 3 drinks.

Service: ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ
Served quickly with the option to sit indoors or outdoors.
What a weather!!!! We went Queenstown for holiday. And weather was amazing:) After ski, we could not pass this place. Because Beer say "hello Dan:)". It was such a good place to drink outside with beautiful light and enjoy Queenstown.

The outdoor lighting caught my eyes when we walked pass, and checked out the menu and we decided to have dinner there. I love the smoked BBQ and manuka honey pork ribs, the tingy sauce goes well with the sweetness of the BBQ and honey favor, well-balanced, the meat fell off the bone, yum!

Very friendly staff. Went on cheap tuesday where we got a Parma for $15. Parma was of decent size. Delicious rocket salad and decent chips. The Parma could've done with a bit more cheese and Napoli sauce, as it got kind of dry towards the end of the dish. All in all, for the price, it was a good Parma.

Love this style of building and being in the heart of Queenstown make this a hit. It is extremely Reasonably priced, especially if you go during happy hour. The mulled wines were to die for and love the outdoor fire! The heaters were broken which was a shame but besides that an enjoyable evening. Recommend getting the nachos.

Friendly very helpful staff. Went in for a mulled wine and didn't leave until we had had about 6 each (they're that good!) great place to perch by the outdoor fire on a clear winter afternoon

Good food, friendly staff and priced to delight your inner tight ass. Half price burgers on Friday - $10. I had chicken with blue cheese and it was rad. Husbandio had the combo platter- bbq ribs, chicken, wings, chilli prawns, lemon pepper calamari & fries - $30. Cocktail jugs cheap as bro - $10 (had the mojito) and $4.50 local sauv blanc.

The legal nerd in me loved being in an old courthouse, the story of the 'justice trees' and the judges bench converted to a dj deck (yo justice!). Looks to be a newish fit out - feels fresh and vibrant.

Glad we finally walked in the door and will defo be back.

We were here on a Thursday night post Dinner for a couple of Drinks.. 10.30 pm and the place was buzzing with people. They had an open mic night ..
1876 offers relaxed atmosphere, great service & friendly staff with the option of indoor and outdoor dining ! it has some vegetarian finger food options and drinks giving excellent value for money.

Came here for a cheap dinner.

Ordered the fish and chips. The fish was probably the smallest I've ever received with my meal. It tasted ok, however it just wasn't filling.

Truly magic, great bar and service just amazing well done guys..

Came here for happy hour, incredible deal on drinks and fun atmosphere. We decided to stay for food, which probably wasnโ€™t the best idea, the burger was kind of boring and dry and the steak was overcooked, prices werenโ€™t cheap either. Iโ€™d definitely go back for drinks though!

Lovely, sunny outdoor area. But after sun went down, we went inside and felt the atmosphere was quite cold. We enjoyed the meals, especially the ribs. Really enjoyed the friendly service from the young Irish lass

Nice location and layout badly let down by sub-standard customer service and an extremely arrogant waiter. I ordered a Rekorderlig (fabulous) and my daughter ordered dessert. (cheesecake - v delicious!) When my daughter's dessert arrived, I decided to order soup, which arrived with toast that was burnt and badly blackened by the grill on both sides. The waiter seemed to think this was perfectly fine to serve me, (even though the taste was so charcoaly I couldn't eat it let alone enjoy it), and that I should pay full price for the privelege. I was then blamed for not complaining sooner (!) Even though they were so busy it was hard to get anyone's attention in the first place! Customers should not expect to be treated this way and I had expected a far better standard of service from a place of this caliber. Sadly, his lack of customer service skills ruined what had otherwise been a pleasant night.

Walked in off the street on a Monday night. I wanted nice Rib racks. The menu stated racks of baby back ribs. What came to the table was 3 edible ribs and 2 large fatty 'ends' of rib racks. If a chef has no pride in sending out quality rib racks, forget the rest of the menu. I won't be back.
