Food taste over average below excellent. Place looks cozy and decorated well with seafood things. I felt little small portion and garnish comparing with 40 dollors. Highly recommend.

Came here last minute. Extremely happy to do so. Ordered the cod entree and uni pasta. The cod was cooked to perfection with extremely crispy skin and tender flesh. The pasta was creamy but not overly heavy. It had several large pieces of dark uni. Delicious.

Yar super scrummy food, that salmon steak was insanely good and I don't even like salmon usually! I had the white fish dish seen there in the photos... Can't remember what it was called but it was really cleverly done; super fresh and delivering tastes that I have never experienced before 🤤 It was really cool to see mutton bird on the menu as I had heard a lot about it (being a bird that is only available to eat on NZ's South Island) but you'll have to go and try it for yourself.

Try the pan fried blue cod with clam chowder sauce, its awesome! I had the cod wings as entree but was too spicy numbing the tongue to fully enjoy the mains' flavour. The tiramisu was so so..

This has to be the best seafood meal I've had in a long time. The crayfish though expensive was amazing. So tender and juicy. The Queensland prawn taco were also a hit. Even though there are thousands of kilometers between Queenstown and Queensland they still had the taste of the sea on them. The only down sides are minimal. We ordered the bread and were given plates but no knives. My crayfish could have used a finger bowl but as I say minimal criticisms.

Great food and service, interesting combination of flavours and very well prepared fishes...our absolute favorite was the fishbone salad😍

Solid seafood here, all the food we got was great. The place is a bit small but worth a visit next time in Queenstown.

My best menu is chowder But all of foods were little bit salty😖 But it is so good seafood restaurant in QT!

Seafood dishes were nice, but dessert wasn’t good at all, so don’t get them

Unfortunately no bluff Oysters in season, salmon was very nice but I would've preferred a fillet rather than on the bone (there were lots of bones), side of rice was a average, extensive wine list and very friendly staff. Cozy inside.

Likely the best seafood restaurant in the south island of NZ. Innovative dishes with fresh fish and shellfish. Great service by the staff relaxed but efficient

Great Fish and Chips! We loved the Blue Cod! Very friendly staff and efficient service! :)

The baked flounder was so good, I'm still lamenting (4 years after) the fact that I only got to eat at this restaurant once.

I had the tasting menu and wine menu, my boyfriend and mother-in-law went a la cart. The food was sooo good! I don't remember it to be too pricey, but it was not cheap either :) our waitress was sweet, informative and just really friendly! I forgot to take pictures, was enjoining good food and company :)

Went out for tea on Friday night. The food was awesome. Full of flavour, value for money and staff very welcoming. These guys know where their supplies are coming from. Definitely recommend you give a try. We will be definitely going back there again. Good on you Fishbone Queenstown 👍

Very bad food. Over cooked fish, chips and squid. Too salty. Over priced. Wouldn’t recommend.

Nice lovely restaurant. Service is alright. Sea urchin pasta is good. Seafood chowder way too salty and we can’t even finish a serve with 4 people.

Had the green seafood curry with rice. Awesome ! Really exceeded my expectations. Good selection of scallops, mussels, clams, fish and a grilled smokey octopus tentacle. Cooked to perfection with a lovely green curry sauce. Full of flavour but not hot to over power the delicate fish. Wife had mussel pot with broccoli. Again can’t fault it. Capers in the broccoli gave it a nice flavour. Would definitely go again when I’m here next.

First saw online a picture of a whole fish being served and told myself, definitely gotta try this. When you first arrive, you'll notice it's a relatively small restaurant but it's really cozy inside.

Ordered the whole flounder, roasted in brown butter, lemon, parsley & crispy capers with fries.

When the dish arrived, it looked really good. It's a flat fish with a thin layer of flesh, skin is nicely browned (unfortunately it's only the side up as the other side is well, not), flesh is super soft and separates easily from the bone.

A handy trick I later found out was, cut a segment/wedge from the tiny lemon and place it with the fish for a bite, that size ensures it's not too sour and blends well with the fish.

Overall, it's a unique dining experience as you don't often see restaurants serving a whole fish for one person.

On a second visit, tried the seafood thai green curry. For the price you pay, definitely a high-end mixed seafood platter served with white rice, all shell on and carefully plated. The seafood was fresh and delicious, except for one scallop where it wasn't clean thoroughly enough but otherwise everything was great.

Also, if you're the type that likes to plan your food in advance, do note that their menu changes daily, so make sure you check the website for the latest menu on the day itself.

Came here craving some seafood. Definately a must see. Being on keto diet (low carb) it can be a challenge picking food.

The flounder had such good sauce and the fish was cook perfectly too.

That and the salads had such good sauce.

The waitress was super friendly.

Nice place. We didn't realize they had just opened for the day so I think they were a bit unprepared for us but the service was good however there was a nasty vinegar smell throughout the whole restaurant that was off putting. I ordered the fish and chips and my partner ordered the fish burger. The fish and chips were average although the fries were top notch and you could tell they were homemade. My partner enjoyed his fish burger but the best thing overall were the onion rings that came with the burger. They were absolutely delightful. Big and crispy and different to any other onion rings I've had before. Ok food, good service and a nice restaurant

There's the seafood, and then there's the SEAFOOD. Fishbone is definitely a SEAFOOD place with spectacular dishes. Highly recommend fisherman strew, which comes with a very fresh crab broth. Also recommend the green lipped mussels, it is the best I've ever had in my life. AMAZING PLACE!!

I was unsure at first about this place because I thought it was a fish n' chips shop, I couldn't have been further from the truth. We had a light meal by not offering lots of items. Delightfully the food was also light and fresh on the palate. The seafood chowder was very good. The cream was light and fresh, I think because of the absence of potatoes which were substituted with corn and leek. I also do not think a rue was used as a thickener. The green lipped muscles were awesome. We've had them twice this weekend at two different places and I just love them. The white wine butter sauce was superb and was used to soak thoroughly the grilled bread that was served. The nicoise inspired salad ordered by our friend was great as well. We would definitely return! Service was spot on as well!!!

As live in Sydney, I've tried various good oysters in my life, but the oysters here still surprised me with its creamy full-body ocean taste. Really a must-try!
The fishes were also good, but not like amazingly good, so just pick anyone that suits your taste.

Seafood galore! the place is popular and reservation is recommended. We had the stir fry pippies they were great! Also tried the local fish served with a salad. Overall a good and pleasant experience

...If you’re looking to sample fresh seafood, then Fishbone is the place. The menu changes daily depending on the catch and whilst the restaurant is decidedly kitschy in that ‘I will put anything fish related on the walls’ kinda way, you won’t be noticing it when a plate of freshly opened Bluff oysters is put in front of you. You might find green lipped mussels, flounder, monkfish or crayfish on the menu but if it’s just a serve of classic fish and chips you want, Fishbone will deliver on that front too....

Ordered seafood platter for 2 of us. The variety of season and different cooking ways fulfilled our night in QT. I can't believe even the toast bread is freaking fabulous but I will suggest you not to eat it too soon.
You should only order seafood but nothing else. It is absolutely valued for money

Amazing! All dishes were very well prepared/cooked and super delish! Dishes chosen (my husband & I): Oysters Kilpatrick & Scallops for entree, Whole Flounder & Tarakihi for mains with Brussel Sprouts for side (the brussels were SO tasty), Pavlova & Flourless Choc Cake for dessert. Service was quick & friendly. Lots of GF options and they were accomodating to my intolerance of garlic & onion too. We were sitting near the kitchen and could see that it ran very efficiently & to a high standard. Very happy with our meal here tonight, we are currently in a food coma.

“Have you ever heard of the Bluff Oysters ” One day, I received multiple consecutive messages from my bff, L, telling me all about it: “Have you heard of bluff oysters” “They are only available in New Zealand”, “They are only harvested from March to August each year”, “One of my blogger friends went and she loved it”, “It’s very limited even in New Zealand”… “LET’S GO HAVE SOME BLUFF OYSTERS”, together we exclaimed. We were lucky that Fishbone had them on the day we visited! No restaurant can guarantee that they will have bluff oysters when you visit as it’s strictly seasonal and limited in quantity.
Excuse Me Waiter
Fishbone is located in the heart of Queenstown , close to many of the other restaurants and shops in town. They offer fresh seafood with a menu that changes daily, so it’s quite exciting to see what will be on offer today!... The menu consists of 90% seafood with a small section devoted to other dishes such as beef, lamb and desserts. There’s a huge selection so...

9/10 - Fresh fish - tasty whole flouder!. Food: Seafood was excellent and fresh. Had two types of oysters - you could tell the difference between them - one was creamier and the other was sweeter. I highly recommend the whole flounder - it was cooked perfectly and don't worry about the bone, because the tender meat would just come off it!

Service: The waitress was very friendly and attentive.

Environment: Quite a cosy little place for dinner.

Verdict: will definitely come back!

Great Seafood. I came here with a friend for dinner. Service was excellent. For the entre we ordered the bluff oysters and for mains we had the greenlipped mussels and the gropper mushroom risotto. Both dishes were great. For dessert we had a pavlova, which was nice but nothing great.

Fishbone is a little pricey however, I believe that overall it is great place to eat, and would recommend to others.

Food here is fabulous and service extremely attentive. Everything we ordered was as described and presented flawlessly. Even the chefs on our way out asked how everything was. To me that shows a team both at the front and back of house that care about the customer!

It is a little pricey, however you truly do get what you pay for at Fishbone. So if a night out with your significant other is in order, then try it. I doubt that you'll be dissappointed

The menu at this restaurant is extensive and suits all tastes. My group ordered lots of dishes to share so we could try different things. I was impressed with the service and the food was all delicous

i don't understand why this restaurant has won that many awards. 4 of us went in last week, staff were nice, served by Tommy. Food was not that good as expected, and over priced as well. I guess for places like this, you will be spending $$$$ before you went in.

The atmosphere was really good, the staff were friendly and very helpful. Sadly the food didn't meet the expectations. The "cataplana" that we ordered wasn't that good, the sauce was overly filled with tomatoes and there were that many beans as well. Yet the chefs special blue cod fish was excellent. Well presented and cooked to perfection.
Too overly hyped up, that has some good food but need to be careful on your choice.

Good friendly service, things are well presented, that makes our expectation high, but when the food came, it has totally changed, food was barely average, its fair to call it bad, the 2 entree was way too salty, and the sea food doesn't taste fresh either, we order some stew for main, and the flavor & spice didn't get into the seafood, it felt like we are eating boiled seafood in a big dip sauce pot, they just don't blend together, and the breads are burnt pretty bad, its uneatable!! conclusion from me and my partner is....our dinner taste like some amateur following a recipe, cooking for the first time and fails it, worse than mommas cooking for sure! Definitely not worth the money!

We had a Mystery weekend away in Queenstown in early December and Fishbone was recommended to us by one of the locals, we couldn't of had a better night, great food, excellent service and fantastic atmosphere, we highly recommend it to all those seafood lovers out there and will be dining there again when in Queenstown!

I always go to Fishbone when in Q.town. It never fails to deliver honest fresh seafood. Bluff oysters were great. Blue Cod was terrific. Low cost local wine list. Its one of my favourites in this area.
