Review Tham Nak Thai - Queenstown

Amy LI
I am a picky eater for Thai food. This is definitely not very impressive one. Everything is too sweet for me,especially the Tom yum soup which is supposed to sour and spicy. The stir fry dishes taste pretty much similar to each other though ordered different sauce. Curries are average. Service are friendly! Not too crowded If u r there before 6pm.

Amazing Pad Thai. The fried rice we probably should’ve chosen to eat with another dish as on its own it a bit dry. I would’ve preferred to have seen the chicken from the pad Thai in the rice instead of the deep fried chicken pieces they had in it that were dry. Great service.

I recently dined at this Thai restaurant and had the pleasure of savoring their Tom Yum soup and Basil Chicken stir-fry. To say the experience was amazing would be an understatement – the flavors were incredibly delicious and left me craving for more. The Tom Yum soup had the perfect balance of tanginess and spice, while the Basil Chicken stir-fry was a delightful explosion of flavors. What truly stood out, beyond the delectable dishes, was the exceptional customer service I received. The staff was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and well taken care of. In conclusion, my visit to this Thai restaurant was a culinary journey that left me thoroughly impressed. The Tom Yum soup and Basil Chicken stir-fry were nothing short of sensational, and the outstanding customer service added an extra layer of enjoyment to the evening. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a remarkable dining adventure!

The restaurant is located at the end of a short lane just off the main road. The food was really good and the portions were very generous. I don't think any of us were able to finish the entire meal. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, helping us out by making a sauce to have on the side for one of our picky eaters. The best value for money restaurant we visited in Queenstown. I would definitely recommend going here if you like Asian food.

BYOB for wine $8. Delicious food, very friendly staff. Green Thai curry was excellent. Lots of vegetarian options.

amazing thai food, flavour was so good. serving sizes were a bit small but still worth the price, just order a bit more than you think you need.

I never tried thai food in my life, it was first time me and my husband decides to taste thai food. We orderd Spicy Fried Rice for Takeaway but we got fried noodles, It was tasty but there is defference between rice and noodles We had spring rolls as well and that was yummy! I am reducing 1 star for service to give wrong order

Affordable Thai food in Queenstown. They do have lunch combo which I found surprisingly cheap & quite tasty too

Visited here for lunch on a weekday and the restaurant was full. We were seated after a short wait. Most of the restaurants in Queenstown are short staffed and so was this one (we visited in Feb). If you are able to look past this fact and understand their situation you will definitely appreciate their efforts and delicious food they serve. Table service and food service was impacted but the food was good.

A hustling restaurant with tasty food at a reasonable price. I would recommend the red duck curry and the tom yum soup, but the thai milk tea was a little too sweet for my taste - though in all fairness I don’t have much of a sweet tooth. The staff were very accommodating and down to earth as well.

Great value at 15 NZ dollars per main course, good size too. Food is tasty but not authentic Thai. The krapow barely had any basil, and the garlic dish didn't taste of garlic. If you've spent any time in Thailand and are looking for a good Thai meal, you might be disappointed. But if you're just looking for a cheap and cheerful feed, it's good. Waiter was friendly and quick.

We found this gem by accident and loved the food. Unlike anther review, ours was not sweet, the spice level was perfect and we loved every mouthful. Our only surprise was that they were not full on a Friday night which I put down to being unsponsered on Google Maps. Do go!

Had a great experience at Tham Nak Thai. The food and flavors were just perfect. The food wasnt too spicy or hot, instead it was perfect blend of natural flavors and spices. It was very oily or greasy (as some of the other places) and we didnt feel bloated afterwards. Prices are very reasonable too and staff was very courteous. Cannot fault this place. Highly recommended!!

The time for order to the table was quick and the food was good. It is a bit from the street so you need to walk into the sort of small paved area in front of the entrance.

Beautifully prepared meals. We had the yellow curry and pad se yew. Both dishes were delicious and well prepared. Staff were wonderful despite being short staffed. Meals came out in under 20 minutes.

Went for dinner, busy place, friendly efficient staff. We went online but menu was out of date, so I tried to take pictures of the menu. The restaurant could use some an update, but really it's all about the food for me.

Great meal with cheap options. The $15 special sigh entree meal and drink is bang for buck. Service was fast too. The spring rolls were tasty as.

Had the pad thai and fried rice. Asked for chili on the side and they gave me chili with fish sauce which tastes really similar to what I had in Thailand. Service is great as well.

We recommend this Thai restaurant!! We came here for the $15 lunch deal. It includes 3 vegetarian spring rolls, then a main of your choice and a drink (one glass of soft drink or a pot of tea). Staff were so friendly, and even though place was so busy, food came out very fast! Portions were massive, and so so tasty! I got the basil chilli chicken with rice (LOVED IT). And my partner got the Panang curry which he said was delicious. Would definitely come back!

They serve food SUPER slow. I ordered fried rice and crispy pork and Thai milk tea, it took 1 hour’s wait when the waitress told me the milk tea was sold out... and another half hour the entree came. I will never come to this place again.

Walked in off the street for lunch. Ordered Pad Thai, Seafood Fried Rice, while my partner ordered a coconut thai soup. We have eaten at many Thai restaurants in Australia and the Philippines and rate this restaurant as among the very best. Delightful Thai food.

i do not think this is a Thai food restaurant, because everything is too sweet, and the rice is not fresh, not recommend and won’t come back again.

Good food. Taste is suitable for non-thai people. Quick service & friendly staff. Price is acceptable for lunch in a commercial /travel place. We ordered 3 main dishes and one more rice bowl, 1 coke and they cost 43 nzd - comparing with hamburger must be a better deal!

Lately I have developed craving for Thai food and wherever I go I tend to incline towards “authentic Thai food”. This how I found this gem. It’s a cosy little place where you can get friendly staff and great service. New Zealand does not have a tip culture but we were so happy and content after our dinner that we couldn’t resist ourselves to give some tip to the staff. Food wise, it was mouthwatering. We tried one of the chef’s recommended dishes and we never had anything like that before. I had Tom kha spicy soup and spicy noodles (veg) and they were delicious. I highly recommend this place if you are into Thai food

3.5/5 for a Thai food restaurant that was reasonably good. Nothing too much to write home about, but you can get a cheap $15 pad Thai dinner here. Looks like they have good lunch specials too from the signage inside (although you’re unlikely to see them from the street if you’re perusing for a lunch venue).
We decided to go large on the entrees and order the mixed platter of entrees for 2 at $26.50. It includes 2 chicken satay sticks (ok), 2 crumbed prawns (better), 2 prawn cakes (ok), 2 tied baskets (very good), and 2 chicken wings (pretty good).
In between our entree and mains would’ve been the ideal time to wipe off the sauce spills and replace our cutlery, but this doesn’t happen and we ask for more utensils. Both our chicken and pork pad thai dishes are tasty and very filling, and we leave feeling pretty stuffed for $56.50.

Visited this restaurant for an early dinner. So many vegetarian options. We tried rice and noodle and both were very tasty. Staff was very nice and service was really good.

Food was delicious. We didn't have to wait long. Place was tidy and staff were accomodating. We especially loved the pork salad. Pad thai was on special deal when we dine in there. We'll definitely dine in here again.

After a week in Queenstown, we had our Friday night dinner in this nice restaurant.
We had three dishes, tom kha soup, beef salad and fried blue codfish with Thai sauce.
Not knowing that the fish dish comes with rice, we also ordered coconut rice.

The dishes were beautiful, on the mild spicy side and lots onions, spring onions and coriander. If you are not a fan of these spice, please stay away. I personally enjoyed the dishes a lot although I do feel bad that we couldn’t finish the steam rice that came with it. If we had known we probably won’t have ordered another rice.

The restaurant had nice settings and very friendly stuff who made sure we were looked after throughout.

Would definitely recommend if you are in Queenstown and looking for something reasonably tasty. The prices are generally overwhelming if you decide to eat out. So why choose anything less tasty? Go somewhere with good food at least!

Tastiest Tom Yum I ever had! Very nice and patient staff (took us a while to decide what we want). They also have this affordable lunch choices for only $15! Will definitely be back when I visit QT again.

I found the staff friendly and accomodating despite the fact that they were crazy busy, so thank you! I would highly recommend the duck yellow curry, which has a sauce that makes you want to lick the bowl clean. A cute restaurant I would go back to! Full review on stormechaser.com

I did the lunch special where it was vegetarian spring rolls + a main dish that was 12$ and a drink for 15$. There were 3 spring rolls and were pretty good, it had flavour and the sauce wasn't too much either. I had the pad Thai and to me it was flavourful, it wasn't the ketchup sauce that passed off as tamarind sauce that I'm used to having back in Canada. The noodles itself were flavourful but I found the beef to not be cooked in with the noodles? It felt like it was just tossed inside after it was cooked. But that's a minor point. The service is really good and I actually got served, unlike other restaurants in queenstown!!

Came here for dinner around 8pm. When we get there, one couple and ground of four were having dinner but not busy. One staff was at front serving customers.

We ordered Pad Thai, Tom yum soup and spicy basil Fried rice.
Soup was bit sweet side than I expected but flavorsome.pad Thai and fried rice were ok, however lacking of unique Thai flavour. We ordered extra lemon and spicy soy sauce later on, just to add more saltiness.
It was bit pricy than the one we normally go but it's in Sydney so we cannot complain. Seems like every restaurants around Queenstown are bit over price coz lots of tourist.

A casual thai dining resto! Had the pad thai and the spicy noodles which were really yummy! They have a good deal for lunch with the spring roll and the thai iced tea! Staff were nice and so accomodating!

Came back few days later and had their chicken cashew something which was also awesome!

Would love to come back and try another dish next time I go QT again! 😋

We dined in last week with my friend and food was really yum.. We had volcano chicken and spicy crispy pork. Would definitely come back. Staff was friendly as well.

We have been there because the hotel receptionist strongly recommend this place. She said this place this place is local hidden place. We ordered Basil chilli fried rice, Tom yum and fried noodles (spicy something). She was right. Specially, Basil chilli fried rice was I never had this tasty anywhere. I d like to go back Queenstown because I can not forget about this tasty.

I just got in because it looks quite busy and reasonable price for lunch. They do only $ 15 set menu which included drink, spring roll and main meal. It is much better than Mac. I ordered main for green curry which was fully flavor. Staff was also very friendly and helpful to explain their menu.

I am not big fan of thai food but my friend is. So we went there and I ordered sizzling seafood because it was special of day. It was really great with cold weather and with beer too. My friend had red curry. It was absolutely full flavor. I will go back again. Customer service was very friendly. I recommend to try this restaurant. :)

We ordered some takeaway and while the delivery time was excellent and quick on a busy Friday night, the food was very basic and average. Would not go back.

We were very doubtful after reading reviews about this place, was unsure because of mix reviews.
We started with succulent chicken satay skewers well topped with peanut sauce & the best part is meat was not fried, Tom Yum entree size soup which was yummm perfect amount of chilli and full of aromatic flavours !! This kicked in our appetite, after browsing through their vast variety of options we decided to go for Sizzling garlic chicken. All mains are served with rice except Noodles, small portion of rice(for one) 🙂
Quantity is reasonable, I would suggest one main pp if you are HUNGrYYYY !!
Good service and enough seatings ( warms and cozy).
Definitely would recommend if you love Thai Food:-)
Lastly this place is open in winter until late which is hard to find in Queenstown 😅

Thai is one of my fav cuisines and I was expecting some great favours when I walked in to this place. Good ambience, friendly staff. Unfortunately the food wasn't up to standards. I ordered the Red Curry and Tom Yum soup with rice.
The vegetables in the curry were really undercooked, to the point that I thought the broccoli was raw. The curry in general was lacking taste and flavours. Tom Yum soup was ok, but again the salt was on the higher side. My friend and I had to leave our meal incomplete and walk out.
This could be one customers bad experience and I am sure there will be people who love the food. But for me, it was very unsatisfactory and not worth the money I paid. May be I will give this restaurant a try again, but not anytime soon. !!

The portions here are more on the generous side, and the service is friendly. Unfortunately, the quality of food to me seemed to be lacking. Food lacked the balance of flavours and didn't make too much of an enjoyable eat for me. Maybe I just happened to be unlucky and order the wrong dishes, but probably the most disappointing meal I had.

Good ambience and decors. Had 'Phad Thai, fried rice and tom yom soup. All in very big portion and we got stuffed at end. Honestly the taste was nice but nothing out of ordinary. But the service there was fabulous. So 3 for food, and 3.5 for the lovely lady.

This is my first time to add the review. I am the easy going pplz of food but this time I have to write the review after we ate. Be honest, my friend and I don't like it. The soup is over salty and it was cold. Then the Fried rice wif the terrible oil. When we left we saw a lots of desk without pplz the leftover this dish on the the table and grab a bite. One of my friend he Oder the curry. He so disappointed abt that. And it was my first day for arrive queenstwon n it my first dish here :( the bad impression

Food here is amazing. First night in Queenstown and we ate here since we were craving rice. The prices are to the pricey side, although the quality of the food is really great.

All i can say is yum yum yuuum!! Was really craving thai and decided on this place based on the variation of dishes they offered and zomato reviews(of course)
First impression was the staff were lovely and super friendly, not too busy but it was around 8.30pm so probably pretty normal for that time.
We started off with satay for entree which were really good, my partner got chicken pad thai for his main and i got the "peanut lovers" chicken stir fry with a side of rice, i absolutely loved it and plan on having the leftovers for lunch today, it was a tad on the sweet side but if you like chicken satay then you'll like this dish.
So glad we tried this place and will hopefully be coming back again before we finish our holiday!
Had lovely dinner with lovely staff. Service was prompt and food was served quick. Did npt like the appetizer platter that much except the satay which is quite nice. The rest of the food was flavourful and you can also request spiciness level for the food.

After a whole day of sightseeing around town.
I came across thia Restaurant. Which located at the very center or the town.
I can see from the glass window from the outside, the place were packed with people...
After a sneakpeek of the menu from the window (which looks tempting), finally we decided to try out.
Nice & warm interior, feels very comforting during windy & chilling winter...
The food was good, they claimed that the chef was certified original Thai Chef (which I believe it might be true), the waiters are Thais
Overall service were great. Probably one of the good food that I found in Queenstown

We had the lunch special and for a very good price we got a lot of food from a drink to starters and a main. The staff was very nice and they had free delivery for your food, the tom yum noodles were very nice but the pad thai was the best we've had.
Azah Forlife
Had food delivered to our hotel. Food was delicious. Very tasty and well cooked. 4 because it took an hour though. Based on food... 5. Plus I haven't been inside the restaurant... yet

Cosy little place in the queenstown mall.. Cheerful, pretty and warm staff.. Food was awesome.. The best sizzling prawns I have ever had the oyster sauce was finger licking awesome but couldn't do this as it was on a sizzler plate :) The chicken was sweetish but tasty the veg dishes though on the spicy side .. were also pretty good !
Photos on the camera will post shortly !

We came across this outlet when we were looking for a good thai dinner. This one is a small restaurant with a decent ambiance

Staff was friendly but service was quite slow. We had Thai yellow curry ( as in India we get only red or green one). It took more than 15 minutes for order to get executed

Curry was decent in taste though not spectacular , curry portion was good but quantity of rice was very less , So we had to order one more place of rice (so more waiting time ).In order to summarize, staff had to speed up a bit and should increase quantity of rice in the plate

Delicious, authentic food. Excellent service, had so much of options for pure vegetarians apart from their non veg. Also has a good roadside sitting

Having traveled to Thailand, I can assure you the food here is authentic, fresh and full of flavor.

Would definitely recommend the Pad Thai dish here.
