Review Thaitanium - Queenstown

Butch Jaca Rafols
A catchy name for a food place on our 1st day Queenstown trip. This food hop with a window view served good dishes. Very courteous and attentive crew. Highly recommended to check out the place. NZ Covid 19 restrictions were observed.

My favourite was the red curry which was pretty good. Also ordered the Pad Thai, chicken cashew (had fried chicken?), combination fried rice that felt like it came with more meat than rice which was surprising. The spring rolls were the worst out of everything but otherwise everything was pretty good. Super quick serving time.

Food was delicious, I ordered my healthy meals and Yes! Always happy and satisfied. The staff is very friendly. The restaurant is super clean with an amazing ambiance and remarkable mountain view. Easy parking as well For people who love Thai food, I highly recommend💫🇹🇭

Great staff, great food, great service The must try: Chicken Green Curry Pie. It's the best in NZ. The finest Thai restaurant in Queenstown.

Over a few months we've had almost everything on the lunch menu! They never disappoint. They've got amazing mochachino.

Wasn't expecting too much based on the exterior of this place but I was pleasantly surprised. Had a good meal here. Interior is a bit dated and uninspiring (ie. Would've been 'modern' quite a few years ago, but dont let this put you off. I ordered the Thai fried egg noodles with tofu and vegetables and it was a reasonable size with lots of flavour. Service was prompt and friendly. Glad I didn't let the odd location put me off, and I will be going back when I can.

Had dinner here twice in three days. Lovely people serving. Was going to eat in but didn't do byo, so had takeaway. The food had amazing flavour in the Green and Manassas Curry. Starter were great! Had the mixed starter and peanut satay and they were very delicious. Would totally recommend this place. Even had chilly to purchase at counter for more heat.

Was so happy to find Thai near my hotel while staying in Queenstown. Had lunch - curry puffs and satay chicken Skewers. So yummy. Curry puffs were good size and tasty. Friendly staff 😃

We had chicken pad thai each. It was one of the best we had - Generous serving of chicken as well as very fluffy eggs in the tasty homemade sauce! We were very tired from all day driving to QST at night, and pretty hungry by the time we were looking for a place to eat. It only took 10 mins to get food. The staff was super friendly and polite. We are already talking about going back again before holiday ends.

Fast friendly service, authentic & delicious Thai food

Very good Thai at a reasonable price. Their green curry with chicken was fantastic. Following Google Maps may take you to the parking area below the restaurant so you will want to park near Hamill's Bar to be in the right spot. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The menu had many options for all tastes. Would recommend to anyone staying in that area. You may find better food in Queenstown but for the price, this place is the best value Thai in the area.

2.5/5 Taste
3.5/5 Display
3.5/5 Quantity
3/5 Customer Service

Thai Restaurant in Frankton.

Food here was below average. Their curry was one of he worst mussaman curry I have ever had. I’m not even sure if the owners were from Thailand.
Wonton noodle was poor too.

One of my fav Thailand and Asian restaurant in queenstown. Their chicken with cashew nut is my favorite. So tasty and sizzling in the hot plate. The sweet and sour blue cod fish also delicious. For the entree try their pork skewer. The skewer marinated perfectly and full of flavour
Pande Made Sumartini
Great restaurant with a very good price (cheaper than other places in Queenstown). I had fried rice and grilled pork. I thought it would come with smaller portion when I saw the price. But I was surprised they just have the same portion like any other place in Queenstown. The place is also cozy..

It was nice sunny day, I wanted something spicy. I ordered phad thai with spicy add up, it was just salty. I could not tasty any phad thai , only salty and spicy. But there was lovely staff.

We had takeaways from this place and I'm quite surprised to find that their food was actually quite tasty.

We ordered the Penang curry and the green curry! Both full of vibrant rich flavour. The rice was a bit over cooked and tasted like overnight old rice.

Overall we were quite happy with our meal.

Good food and great service, although the venus isn't too flash. Three of us went for lunch on a Saturday, and were served our meals pretty quickly. I think the pad thai was one of the best flavoured versions I've had in NZ, although I would have appreciated more vegetables (was the plain meatless version). Pineapple curry was great too, although the ginger fish wasn't much liked. Service was fantastic, by two very polite young guys. The venue could be improved, it's pretty cluttered, with cans of paint stacked within the toilet.

NO VEGETARIAN OPTIONS AT ALL! They missed out on 10 people coming in for lunch because they were unable to serve one vegetarian meal. They said the sauces were already made up (I wanted a chili and basil stir fry with tofu), I asked if they could make a new one and they said no. They were extremely rude and disrespectful and told me I should eat the fish sauce. I have heard many bad things about this restaurant and definately wouldn't go if I were you!

Myself and my partner went here today and we had 2 entrees of pork ribs and salt and pepper squid, the ribs were amazing the sauce was great and the coleslaw was so fresh and crispy, the squid was the best I've ever had in new Zealand, it was to die for, so so tender, and so crispy, we flavoured. For our mains we had crispy pork belly on rice and my partner had cripsy chicken fried rice, both mains were huge and both had amazing taste and very well seasoned, we left fealing like gluttons :) great service and very very well priced compared to other places we have been to in queenstown, portions great sized for the price, well worth the drive from town to remarkes park, thank you very much

I go here very regularly (at least once every two weeks) and the service is prompt, the food is delicious and they are very friendly.
You must try before you take any of the reviews to be serious!
Best Thai restaurant in Queenstown.

Don't go. Wrong wine after pointing it out. (2 of us) Chicken cashews had 2 chilli's in it that were so hot they made my eyes and nose water for 15 minutes. And when I questioned it they said I wasn't supposed to eat them as they were only for the fragrance but no warning prior. Tried to overcharge us. Doubled the bill. Highly annoying. Worst experience ever at a restaurant. They should have paid me the $100 plus for the experience. Useless. Get a new job.

Probably the quickest and easiest way to get my point across is to copy and paste the email I sent to Thaitanium after walking out shell-shocked - so here goes...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm writing this email with a small inkling of hope it will reach a manager, or at least somebody with even an iota of common sense, which I'm guessing is highly unlikely having experienced the circus that is Thaitanium Restaurant.

If I don't hear back with some explanation I see it only as fair that I post this as a warning to others on every website I can find. Ill also call the food hygiene authority and ask if having a cat on the premises is actually even legal!

I'll keep this short with some bullet points.
- Firstly, the food could be described at best as bland and average.
- There was a cat wandering around the restaurant! Hygiene?!?
- The food took way too long to arrive at the table
- You completely forgot one meal and said the reason it hadn't arrived was because you were too busy, which was obviously a lie. Then we didn't get the meal for another 20 minutes when everyone else had finished and our friends rice had gone cold. So she had to eat while we were all watching.

Now the really impressive bit - you wouldn't give her fresh rice, or any compensation as an apology, we had to ask - and we suggested that you take off the one entree we ordered + the rice that had gone cold.
So you said ok to the entree but no to the rice - seriously?! Think about it.

Then you added the $3 per person holiday surcharge that we didn't know about because it was on a small obscure sign facing the wrong way on the front door.

And the icing on the cake was when I said I didn't want to pay the surcharge so you threatened to call the police on us. I still can't believe your manager suggested this was the best solution!

A refund might help remove the awfully sour taste from my mouth, but probably not. Really what I'm after is an explanation and apology - you completely ruined our meal out, why should we have to pay good money for such rubbish service and below average food?

Wow, is how I would describe the service. Started off great but then went down hill. We had one meal left off the order even if when it was double confirmed by the waiter. This meal arrived 20 minutes after the rest and no offer of fresh hot rice was given.

Food was ok but it got let down by the service and the clutter in the restaurant. Don't know what this place is trying to be. Warehouse, craft shop, cafe, Thai restaurant.

Food is ok. Similar to street food in East Asia. But what is incredibly disappointing is their customer service. Do not go here if you want an enjoyable meal. Shing, who I assume was the acting manager at that time, was extremely rude. There was a mistake with our order and we were trying to sort it out. The woman stormed to our table and was very rude. Her tone of voice, choice of words and facial expressions were so distasteful. She was downright rude, and did not care that she was arguing during our meal, effectively ruining any good ambience the place or food gave. After she talked to my parents, she turned to the next table with an over exaggerated smile on her face and such overzealous intonation and facial expression. She clearly has no manners at all. If this was any restaurant or cafe in Auckland, any manager would apologise profusely for the mistake and sort it out right away. This really was a very disappointing first meal at a Queenstown restaurant. I'm hoping other establishments in Queenstown will be able to redeem this poor dining experience.

We went as a group of 7 for lunch recently. The restaurant itself seemed to be focused on setting up for evening trade as it was a little chaotic and disorganised, but the food was amazing! We had (amongst other things) the ribs, a pinto box with sweet and sour chicken and a lovely chicken/vege salad. I couldn't speak more highly of the food and will definitely be back. The service was pretty hit and miss, but I recommend going for the food alone.

RECOMMENDED! The food there is FANTASTIC! I especially love the prawn Pad thai (its suited for everyones taste ^^). The cakes are also homemade which makes them even more delicious. The service wasn't bad but not the most attentive. Sometimes feels like there is a language barrier but still great restaurant.
