Review No 6 Licensed Cafe - Raumati Beach

Food is good, coffee was great. Service lacking and kitchen slow. Overall will go again but wouldn't go out of my way

Great food! Trendy spot. I liked the menu not huge but everything looked intriguing (just felt like they had little twists on favorites) left me wanting to come back and try some more :D

Great food and very friendly staff

Thanks to Michelle and the team for looking after the SA Family Store team for a work dinner. Friendly staff, great atmosphere and good food. Lots of laughs, a pleasant evening.

Great food options, including a good kids menu. The food in the cabinet was very tasty looking with lots of options.

Best curly fries around. Easy to have a conversation and be heard, the coffee is constantly good and recently become almost too pretty to drink.
Hugh Wolfensohn
Friendly team, nice coffee and good choice of cabinet food.

Great cafe with good food. If you order the burgers you get more fries than burger but the burgers is a good size and tastes great too. The nachos have cabbage in them which I thought was kinda weird. I would definitely recommend coming here but on busy days you definitely need a reservation.

Stopped for a bite to eat and coffee. The portions were great and very tasty. A good afternoon spent chatting and enjoying our time together.

Went for the $15 burger night. 🍔 Really beautiful meat pattie which is made in house. It comes with curly fries and aioli, the fries were good but would've liked more garlic in the aioli. Good service and was very busy. Prompt to serve us and get drinks. Would recommend. Please "like" my review if you found it useful Cheers!🍻

We had a lovely meal for all 9 of us on Monday morning. I had booked ahead and our table was waiting for us. Heaters going.we all enjoyed our food. Plenty for everyone. Snitzel was huge, bring your big appetite. Flavours are great, all served with a smile.

Small local cafe feel which is really nice. Always hits high marks for the qualiity of food. Always enjoy our visits. Highly recommended!
Mike Jowsey
Good food, fair prices and served by attentive and courteous staff. Would go again.

Went for breakfast on the weekend. Service was friendly and quick. Big breakfast was fresh and of a good size. Coffee was good. Only down side was that the banana smoothie was not cold. Will be back, basic but good quality. Recommend.

Great food. Great people. Tank top waitress was mint. Brilliant atmosphere. Revolutionary service. Sik playlist. The great grand kids loved it too (the shitty ones didn't).

Went from brunch last week, the portion sizes were huge so if you are hungry great. My partner had the beef burger - the steak was fatty and chewy and he struggled to eat as a burger. I had the corn frittars and they were doughy and the avocado was hard and unripe. Service was lovely but for the food wouldn't go back.

A large group of us (32) from work dined at No 6.
The food was served quickly and was beautifully presented.
We will be back and highly recommend this venue to others
Well done No 6 and thank you for a fantastic night

I saw an ad that said they had a new courtyard. Just a few poorly placed bricks, unfinished, and cheap fake grass. There was rubbish all around the courtyard and heaps of flies. The service was slow and the waitress we had was rude and could hardly keep herself covered in her tank top. Bad food, poor service, and a filthy environment. Don't waste your time or money

Awesome breakfast, one of the best I have tasted in the area! Will definitely be back to try out their lunch menu.

Service was prompt, with friendly staff.
Team Thomas
Not a bad wee cafe really. Staff were friendly and accommodating with allergies which was good. They didnt know if the gluten free wraps had egg so I ended up with the quesadilla as a salad but it was nice. Steak fries were going to be late so got an apology but then told they had run out so got curlies... they were nice about it all and the food recieved was good enough for a return visit... although I would try another spot first as there are a few out that way.

We went in for breakfast and though the service was great and the coffee was good the breakfast burrito was a let down, in need of seasoning and the salsa and guacamole didn't taste particularly fresh.

We came here for brekky an had breakfast burritos, the vego option was good. Cant wait to dine again. Great service and good food, food didn't take long to make which was fab as we didn't have much time. Reasonable price aswell

Stefan is a very hospitable host, making you feel at home in what is a small, but warm cafe with a Creole twist. The food is creative and of a very high standard. You ask for medium rare, that's what you get.

A genuinely pleasant cafe out here on the coast, Consistent with the area this place is very laid back and chill. Offering cafe food with a Mexican influence. The staff are very kind and genuine, and seem to handle the lunch run very well!

The menu caught my attention, offering a favourite food of mine (Mexican) , so I gave the fish taco a twirl. A very fresh, zesty take on the Mexican classic. You can taste the coast on your tongue with the fresh fish and flavours. Not particularly authentic but I enjoy kiwi takes on things and this was good.

Coffee was of good quality and enjoyable but I wouldn't give it high praise. Overall a very nice lunch out, and would definitely return again if I was to be in area to try the rest of their menu, looks like a great place for brunch.

The family have just had an excellent dinner here tonight. Steaks were brilliant (med rare and rare) cooked to perfection and very tasty sauce/jus. Tried my son's seafood tacos - tasty, fresh and beautiful. Desserts were again beautiful. We'll be back!

This place is easily my favorite cafe in Kapiti by far, friendly service and great food and of course great coffee.
I would recommend this place to everyone

The service is just fantastic - all the staff are friendly and welcoming. I've been a regular at No.6 for years and am always satisfied after visiting. I love their breakfast menu - I just had Eggs Benedict this morning and it was delicious. The poached eggs have always been perfect. I've eaten both lunch and dinner, and the meals then were also very good. The coffee is fantastic, the cakes are yummy and they always try to cater for the needs of my family - whether it's gluten-free options, banana on request for baby, or toys/books to keep them occupied. Also, wifi is available.I love this place :)

Fab dinner at No. 6 Raumati. Bottle of Pinot Noir Rose. I had garlic prawns with chorizo sausage and avocado, my partner had Chicken liver pate. For mains we both had Beef Wellington. Dessert for me was chocolate mousse and berry sorbet. My partner had the chefs special. Followed by a glass of Port each. They looked after us very well and managed my partners egg allergy with professional service. Would recommend this restaurant for anyone wanting good quality service and a excellent meal.

Fabulous! Delicious food and a great atmosphere !! Cant wait to go back. Service was amazing and we just stumbled upon it as a place to eat. Really enjoyed our dinner.

Well what a little find - not that we are often here but would come again if in this neck of the woods! The coffee is excellent, service impeccable, portions generous, food tasty and all in all, why don't they move to the city???? It would give many cafes in Wellington a real challenge- dare I suggest one near the airport would benefit from seeing how this one is run. The prices are very reasonable and all in all, aren't those residents of Raumati lucky!!!

First time diner at No.6 I had a GREAT experience, The food was really good and the prices very reasonable will definitely be back to try more dishes. But it was more than that the waiter was excellent he was attentive and thoughtful adding little touches not experienced before. I have always been a fan of supporting local especially when they get it right well done No.6 see you again soon

We dined at No.6 Cafe as we were staying in the area and booked in for dinner on Saturday the 23rd.
My husband had the Duck Gumbo which was very rich but very tasty and I had Jambalaya ( the waitress managed to ask the chef to change one ingredient in the dish which was no problem and appreciated)
It was also tasty and we both enjoyed the food and service was good..
However, the decor is very basic (1970s )and needs to be completely changed to bring it into a new era and the chairs are uncomfortable. The unfinished wall is shocking to look at ...what happened to a quick coat of paint. If updated a more pleasant place to dine in.

We phoned to get a booking and they were completely full but managed to get us in at 5.30 which suited us. We had mains and dessert, the jambalaya was perfect and we shared dessert, the banana foster, great if you are a sugar lover. Coffee was very good, $190 for 5 mains, 3 desserts and 7 drinks.

Have eaten here several times now and Number 6 never fails to deliver. I normally have the big breakfast as I love the spicy baked beans and the corn nuggets but his morning we had the breakfast burritos with choritzo and spicy black beans. They were amazing! This is what we love about Number 6, the variety of the menu. This is the only place we can go on the coast that has a huge range of different options for brunch instead of your typical bacon, eggs hash browns etc.

The service is friendly and fast without being rushed, and the coffees are perfect. The outdoor area is the place to be on a sunny day. We will be back next weekend as we work our way through their creative and tasty menu!

The waiter was really attentive. We had the Jambalaya and the Sizzling Fajita. Jambalaya was really good - authentic, tasty, nice ingredients. The Fajita was nice, just a little bit bland in the sizzling mixture - I think it would have been good if it was cooked in a spicy marinade or something similar. Nice to have the outside bit - one suggestion for the evening dining is just to make it a little cosier - a few aesthetic tweaks would work wonders for the atmosphere. All good though - we'd go here again.

Had dinner there.

The Jambalaya was amazing, the steak was cooked just as requested.

Pudding was also surprisingly good, the chocolate mud-cake was huge and the doughnut things very tasty.

Looking to eat there again soon.

We had a really nice meal here recently,
Funnily enough we were "going" to the Thai Lagoon next door, and on the way down I stated "Right, I am going to try something I have not had before", well We certainly did that.

The food was nice, not spectacular but nice,
I had the Beef Fajita platter, T had the Chicken version.
Generally, similar to the Lone-stars equivalent, there are some differences, of course.

We both thought that it was a lovely meal, and that We will go back there again.
The spur of the moment decision not to go to the Thai that We were heading for, was right.

Try it out for variety.

I had lunch there, recently and I was very pleasantly surprised at the jambalaya. As an ex-New Orleanian I was prepared to be disappointed, but the jambalaya was very authentic and with just the right amount of spicyness. The service was a bit slow, but since I wasn't in a hurry, it was pleasant to sit and enjoy the quiet glass of wine out side in the sun. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other dishes, especially the beignets (our family favourite after many an afternoon at Cafe du Monde in N.O.)

The girls and I came for dinner and had sizzling fajita and mojito cocktails and it was a great night. Good coffee and lovely service. Hope this stays a wee gem for Raumati. A Great spot to sit outside and enjoy the sun too.

We had lunch at No. 6 on Monday 6 June. The service was excellent, unfortunately the food was not.

I had the Gumbo - described as chicken with hot sausage soup with rice. The meal was gluggy and tasted of bisto stock cubes. There was no depth of flavour at all. It was very unpleasant. Another had the rice with chicken, sausage and shrimp. It was described as average with no depth of flavours and it was spot the shrimp. The other had the chicken fajita.. the chicken looked very ordinary. The tomato salsa salad looked like it was from the day before - colourless, limp and unappetising.

A disappointing meal. Hopefully they will lift their game as the menu did read well.
Sarah
I went to Number 6 cafe the other evening with my partner, as they have recently opened for dinner. I ordered the Beef Wellington and Jake ordered the sizzling fajita. We were very happy with the whole experience, the staff were very friendly and the food was excellent.. I would definitely go back there again
