Review Morell - Remuera

Such a vibe. Amazing food and service. Loved the gin sours too! Can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu.

Love all their dishes basically, but current faves are burnt butter bread, scallop prawn pasta, rare-seared tuna, chips, grilled calamari salad and of course the sticky toffee pudding! We go there regularly with our little one. Wonderful attentive staff too. Connor is always helpful and friendly. Thank you :) Best restaurant in Auckland hands down!

Really appreciative of the kind, professional staff at Morell in providing a truly memorable evening recently in celebrating my brother's 50th Birthday. The service was impeccable and the food delicious. Thank you!

Visited last week and what a lovely ambience. There is a bar at the entrance, and seats along the side. I ordered this delicious tuna sashimi with wasabi mayo, tomatoes and crust. Sparkling water is a courtesy. Staff was fast and helpful. There are other dishes I want to try and I expect the same quality as the one I had. Great place for a romantic dinner as well.

Last night on a freezing wet blustery night we celebrated our daughters birthday at Morel. We had a really fun night. The food was fabulous, the chef really understands flavour. Our portions were of a good size and the choice of food on our antipasto platter was very different and beautifully presented. Connor our waiter was excellent and very professional. Thank you Morel for making our evening with you very enjoyable.

One of Auckland's hidden gems, with superb great food and service. Would definitely go back! Highly recommended.

Beautifully presented and delicious food indeed loved the buns will have those again . The male gentleman working in the bar area had a bit of a chip on his shoulder.. Not too friendly.. Riding the ego wave. So 1 star taken for that uncomfortable encounter . However the person who served us was very friendly and accommodating with great communicating skills... Place is a bit on the top end cost wise. . I eat out a lot so am comparing it with other similar restaurants. I like the area it is in quiet and peaceful. Went there midday on the week so not many people at all.

Always the most welcoming service and friendliest staff. So reasonably priced. The team remember our names and drinks preferences. We always look forward to drinks and dinner here.

First time and definitely won't be the last. All 4 of us had superb meals. I had the best chicken Parmigiano ever...so succulent and flavorsome. Tnx

Went yesterday evening on a cold blustery night and had a great time with friends. I had the cioppino with Crab, prawns, cockles, calamari & market fish served in traditional Italian tomato & pernod ragu. It was excellent. The red wine selection was limited (at the less than $150/bottle selection). Dessert was lovely! It cost $66/person with a bottle between four of us and one cocktail. Looking forward to returning. I’d give a 4.5 if there was one and look forward to a greater red wine selection next time!!

This is one restaurant you MUST check out. If you had visited the pervious establishment before Morell took over; you will seriously gasp when you walk in. Shops have been knocked down to accommodate this new larger and Impossibly sexy décor, think The Great Gatsby with Emerald velvet booth seats, white marble bar and benches with accents of gold upon a monochromatic colour scheme. Yummy! We sat outside, with views of the roundabouts hustle and bustle in this popular little pocket of Remuera. This sophisticated looking establishment not only stops at the décor, staff have a smart uniform and the food presentation is flawless - its almost a shame to eat it, almost. As a vegetarian I was overwhelmed with the fabulous options available. I highly recommend the mozzarella and tomato starter, bread and dips, eggplant and the gnocchi dish - it became abundantly clear the talented chef Daniel is more than your average chef - each plate seriously sang in my palette, the years of experience as a top chef in NZ and Australia has paid off. It is clear that a lot of thought has gone into each dish; the sauces combined with the perfectly executed food on each dish was divine and I am looking forward to going back and trying out the risotto. Our waitperson was delightful, who didn't put a foot wrong and whose service was matched by the food. You could tell he genuienly enjoyed working there which attributed to the great ambiance. I noticed all of the attentive wait staff danced that fine dance of being there when you needed them and disaperaing into the background. So, without hesitation I give this gem of a find a 10/10

There are so many delicious options on Dan's menu, I don't even know where to start. All the mains are a gustatory exploration, with an artistic beauty in each's presentation. In terms of flavor, I'd like to focus on the "non-mains" that really impressed my tongue. (1) The "burnt butter" that came with the bread. It was more caramelized, and so tasty you'll want to clean the butter ramekin with your fingers! (2) The amazing crayfish ravioli. Mudbugs are tricky to work with, and huge kudos to Dan - one of the best balancing acts with their flavor I've ever tasted. (3) The sago dessert. Where do I even start? The heartnote of coconut? Those freeze-dried raspberries that flirt in and out of the flavor profile? Them crunchy scrumptious bites of thick homemade brandysnap? I just can't decide. What I do know is that I've been hallucinating its flavor on my tongue the past week. It haunts me and I crave it daily. Morell has become one of our favorite eating spots in Auckland. It's the ONLY location for which I'll drive down from the North Shore. Keep up the good work, and I can't wait to see what other Morell morsels you have in store for us...

The kai is scrumptious, tasty and cooked with L O V E ! The service is friendly and very helpful! My first meal there with my niece was comfortable, flavoursome, filling, appetizing and delicious. My niece’s meal included special dietary considerations which was given without any inconvenience. We both had a three course meal each! Ka nui te karamihimihi mō te manaakitanga me te tauwhirotanga. Inā te reka o te kai namunamuā me ngā haupa, I pērā rawa te makue me te māngaro o aua kai katoa! Morell, e whakamānawa atu nei!

Had dinner at morells last night. What a fabulous establishment! Service was spot on,couldn’t have been better. The wait staff were extremely attentive and had the right personalities. And the food! Where do I start! My favourite had to have been the calamari salad. To die for. Will certainly be back. Well done team :) Anna & Graham.

Classy establishment, serving contemporary bistro fare combined with slick service. Positioned on one of Remueras best corners, ready to catch the afternoon sun. Will be back cocktail in hand.

Food was ok but the service was really average. So many staff doing nothing but gossiping. Amateur

My family and I went to Morell for the second time since they opened. The food was very good, especially the coconut sago and the schnitzel. We will be back!

Morell became my favourite restaurant the very first time I dined with them. I want to try every dish and cocktail on their menu - so be warned - it’s hard to decide which deliciousness to taste first! I love simple basic customer service and Morell’s team delivers and then some. Their location and stunning decor creators the perfect atmosphere to enjoy lunch or watch the sun go down and graze on dinner. Looking forward to tasting and experiencing it alllllllll! (P.S beautiful toilets!)

Exceptional dishes, best you could find in Auckland. Great convenient location. Excellent service. Nice boutique vibe!

Food and staff are really good. Great menu selection. Only downside is compared to similar cafes there needs to be better priced wines on the menu.

Food was great, yummy, and good portion size. Great vibe. We love the energy of the whole restaurant. The only minor disappointment for this time, was it seems we were being rushed. Probably we are wrong. However, as terminator says, "we will be back".

Great location, vibe and service especially for a suburban bistro. We ordered an array of shared plates, mains and desserts. Some of the shared plates were yum but some were off unfortunately. The scallop special was disappointing as the flavour of the scallop was lost and overpowered by a bitter pesto that left a harsh after taste. I’d highly suggest tweaking this dish. For mains, I had the fish of the day which promised to be served with a gorgeous saffron risotto (I had high hopes). Again unfortunately i wish this was executed better. The saffron risotto was overpowered by a heavy hand of dill throughout despite no mention of dill on the menu. I love dill but not with saffron and not when the saffron should have been the star. The fish was over cooked, burnt skin, dry in parts. My friends’ mains also didn’t quite hit the mark. Dessert was tasty though so not all was lost! I write this review with the hope that this place can continue to improve. It’s such a neat spot and the customer service was excellent - warm, friendly and professional.

Wow I highly recommend this neighborhood bistro. My mother and I went today and both had the best experience. The food divine and perfectly executed. As a vegan they were happy to work the lunch menu into my diet and I was amazed at how talented the chef was at fusing the flavors together. The starter melted in my mouth and I was scraping every last drop off the plate. Then, the main came out and I knew the execution of the vegan starter wasn’t a fluke. This chef really knew the art of food. My mother who isn’t a vegan was also blown away with both her courses.. The venue classy, staff friendly and welcoming- the place has a great vibe. You can tell they all enjoy working there. Highly recommend by my mother and myself.

Great food: classic European fare. The service was not the best but we went early on when the restaurant had just opened, so it can be forgiven. Only slightly over priced but it is great place and hopefully one to stay.

The crayfish ravioli was so amazing with a delightful with its truffle sauce. I was astounded at the service and the quality of the food, the selection of beverages is second to none. I congratulate the staff on their exceptional kindness and overall friendliness. Well done Morell!!
The Sheikh of Auckland
Instagram: @sheikh.of.auckland

The decor is in the art deco style, the staff were friendly and accommodating. We dined on a Friday, the food was very nice and the mood relaxed. The scallop special was delicious, my short rib was very nicely cooked, all washed down with good wine. Good stuff from a suburban local

I was not going to do this review, but after seeing Kim Knights review in the sat herald i felt i should.First of all the staff were wonderful and the decor was very pleasant, nothing was too much, unfortunately the food did not match, we ordered two dishes, the eggplant and the squid, both under cooked, especially the eggplant, which was barely cooked , i had high hopes for tis establishment, but sadly we were disappointed, and i get no pleasure out of writing this review having been in hospitality and have an inherent understanding of the problems of consistency.

Four of us had an amazing lunch here last Friday. All staff were superb and performed beyond expectation. The calamari and the ceviche were both sublime! We couldn't fault our meal and to top it off you stock our favourite wine. Well done!

Food excellent (shared tasters, calamari salad, pork buns).

Indoor and outdoor seating lovely, plenty of different seating options. But outdoor seating difficult to get in and out of due to large pot plants blocking way.

Service variable, for example, waitress was asked to bring additional glass and she simply put it on table on her way past. Bottle of wine took ages to come out. Not many smiles. Recommend staff training in creating rapport with customers and consistent service!!!!
