Review Jasmine Rice - Remuera

J
The food was delicious, best Thai restaurant in Auckland by far. The abundance of flavours in each dish, and bounty of ingredients with prawns fit for royalty. The presentation of each dish was like art on a plate (as seen in photos) and the taste was even better. The overall balance of flavour in each dish was just phenomenal. We ordered the chicken pad thai, prawn green curry and Ginger special noodles, and everything tasted amazing! To finish the night, the mango Crème Brûlée was the perfect dessert to satisfy the sweet craving for the day. Additionally, we were truly impressed by the exceptional service provided by the staff, who were not only friendly and very accomodating but were able to recommend dishes tailored to our preferences. Throughout the evening, they exhibited an impressive level of attentiveness and professionalism. The atmosphere was impressively luxurious, adding to the overall dining experience. I will definitely return to try the other dishes on the menu and cannot wait to be back.

Tried some of their amazing dishes from the menu. The food is A-Maz-ing!! Comes with friendly customer service too. Food came out quickly. Loved it!

The entrees & mains were delicious. Dessert was disappointing, very small. 4 tiny pieces of banana per plate. Great decor & lovely staff.

Came here for dinner for Mums Birthday with family, food was tasty and the presentations were really nice 🙂 thankyou for the iced water from the waitress because it was hot inside the restaurant. Atmosphere was cosy and staff were accommodating and helpful

Lovely setting and friendly busy vibe. The menu is extensive with lots of choice for fish and vegetarian dishes as well as a great variety of meat dishes. The dishes were so beautifully presented when they came out with generous portions and all very delicious. Look forward to going again soon and bringing the family.

Ginger in Remuera, Auckland is a gem. The food, ambiance and staff are just too fabulous. The owner makes rounds amongst the diners which is so like yesteryear. Well done Ginger. Keep it up!! Definitely return for a feed of fantastic tucker!!!

One of the nicest Thai restaurants I've been to! Everything is delicious, the decor refined and the staff friendly! Prices were fair too, especially on somewhere that looks rather upmarket. Definitely recommended.

Excellent Thai food, some of the best in Auckland, simple as that. Super tasty curries with a kick

Great family-owned restaurant, ideal for dinner dates and families. Great food, excellent service and fantastic atmosphere. I will be back soon.

Visited here earlier this week and the food was fantastic. It's refreshing having modern twist on Thai food with the standout being the Tacos and Salmon in an amazingly flavoursome sauce. The final highlight was the desert which I am led to believe changes from night to night!

The food was really very nice. The chef had captured authentic an authentic Thai experience. The Snapper and the Pad Thai were probably the best we've had in NZ. Henry was very accommodating and ensured we had a great experience. Would 100% recommend and eat again.

Our second time dining having recently discovered, and why go anywhere else. Every dish was a taste sensation. Small, comfortable, friendly, prompt, well priced, clean, and a good variety of absolutely delicious quality food. Thanks.

Food here is ok when thinking about the cheap price. But nothing special about the taste. The staff is super friendly. Recommend for takeaway!

Food was great. We had stir fry crispy pork with basil and veg, prawn red curry. Both are delicious, Prawns are fresh. And Food are served super quick. The staff is very friendly.

Great Customer Service and Great Food! My partner and I went again for a dinner last Saturday, we are so gastronomically satisfied! The crispy pork with garlic and pepper sauce is a must try!😊 The staff are also very attentive of your needs.😊👍🏻 This place is definitely recommended!

Great food! Really really good Pad Thai, totally recommended.

I ordered on the phone tonight and all the food was ready in less than 15 minutes and the service was very nice and quick. So far I had a great experience with the take-away, I will be back for dine-in.

Original Thai food at a reasonable price. Atmosphere is OK but nothing special. Better for takeaway (they are super quick). Lovely staff. Highly recommended.

Jasmine Rice is a regular for our flat. Great cuisine at a very reasonable price. The Tom Yum soup is some of the best I have had in Auckland. Takeaways are a great option too.

Grabbed takeaway from here a few weeks back and was abit unsure before but glad we did! The pad thai was really nice! My partner loved his and said it was his favourite he had had for a while! We also ordered chicken satay, and the chicken itself was nice but the sauce wasnt that good! Bit of a strange taste but wont let it put us off! Will defo order pad thai again :)

Strange mood as i couldn't face leftovers for dinner so headed out to at least supplement it with some pad thai.
In the last three occasions, usually in winter, I would get takeaways from here. In summer its also nice to dine out there. The layout has not changed a bit.
I was a little disappointed the last time did get takeaways from here so I have not been back for two years. For a quick dinner got my usual spring rolls and my usual prawn pad thai.
There w8ere 4 quite large spring rolls provided. They were crisp but I didn't enjoy the contents much as meaty using mince rather than light . Slightly oily also. 2/5.
Pad thai was ok not a strong flavour and didnt seem to have any thing in it. The noodle used is slightly wider than the usual pad thai. 3/5
It is very competitive along Rem Rd for dining and there are many thai outlets in the East some that are very well established. J Rice is one of them but the formula that seems to be working in the suburbs is mid range foodd.

Good Thai food in a neighborhood where there arent many cheap Thai places. Decently aunthentic and great flavours. V

Good, quick Thai. Recommend the cashew chicken and their spring rolls are the best. They give you big portions for a good price. You never have to wait too long either!

We visited Jasmine Rice on a Wednesday evening for takeaway, I purchased a chicken green curry and my partner purchased vegetables in garlic, chilli and basil. The chicken green curry was satisfactory, but nothing to rave about. My partners meal was disappointing and below average. The tofu was soggy in a clear liquid containing mostly of chilli. The expected tastes of garlic and basil were absent and the whole dish was very un-Thai. We have many options in this area that stand above this experience so we wont be visiting again.

We often order takeaway here and the food is consistently great.

Tonight we stopped in for dinner. I ordered the red curry and it was superb. My wife ordered the stir fry beef on a sizzling plate and while it was good she preferred my red curry.

The food prices are reasonably good. The portion sizes are very good. There is a generous amount of veg and meat in the curry. Overall I thought the meal was great value for money.

This place is worth stopping in at.

Amazing Duck Pad Thai, great service.

Went to Jasmine Rice recently looking forward to a good Thai meal but was very quickly disappointed, which surprised me after the other reviews (maybe an off night). The Pad Thai was swimming in liquid, soggy & so sweet it was terrible & couldn't be eaten, the other meal ordered was edible, but main vege in it was half cooked onion & was lacking in flavor. Sorry to say I won't be going back again. But like I say maybe it was just a bad night as everyone else seems to race about the place.

Love this place. The Pad Thai is the best I've had. The chicken fried rice is the exact same as one you would get served in Thailand. The mixed starter is always good too. Recently thought I'd try the Thai Village in Remuera. Bought a meal, took it home, took 3 forkfuls and threw it in the bin and went up to this place and got my favourite pad thai. Cheaper by around $5 for most courses compared to other Thai eateries in the area.

My husband and I LOVE this place! We used to live in Remuera so it was our local but now we have moved to Ellerslie but still make the trek up to Jasmine Rice as it continues to be our favourite place to get the best, reasonably priced Thai food.
Particularly like the Pad Thai!

This is a really nice little eatery. Had dinner here in a group of 5. The portion sizes are good. Had the lamb massamman and the chef's special duck together with a chicken dish. The duck was sooo good that we ordered another serving of it. The lamb curry was nice too. The service is great - everyone is friendly and polite. The bill came up to less than $20 per person - which was totally worth for a stomach full of delicious food. Will surely come back to Jasmine Rice.

Have been coming to Jasmine Rice for many years. Every time has been defining in my experience of eating Thai food, and that has been after dining out at many other Thai restaurants in the Auckland area. The Duck dishes are made really well, with authentic tastes and on the rest of their dishes, they have excellent attention to detail in dividing the ratio of meat to vegetables. The seafood dishes from the Chef's Special Menu are also worth a try. Service is fantastic and have been impressed with the owner's lovely, impassioned and attentive attitude, I'm sure most of the regular patrons in the area are in agreement on that. You know the hospitality is genuine, long live Jasmine Rice in Remuera !

Fantastic eatery.
My partner and I enjoyed a wonderful experience. We had masaman curry and chicken and cashews. It was delicious. Full of Thai flavours. For me the masaman was a bit thin - but this would be my only gripe.
The restaurant was busy and the take away service was very busy, so that must say something about the type of service and food the have.
Friendly and attentive staff - well done.
Great find.

Still love this restaurant a year later - a regular dinner option for us. Great food, friendly staff. Excellent :)

----- 04 Nov, 2011 -----

This restaurant is fantastic, generous portions, good quality and friendly service. Been here 4 times this year, love the duck dishes - really tasty!!!

Great food and service, very quick as well!

We were recommended this Thai Restaurant from a friend and have been twice now, and the food, services and atmosphere was very good.

Fast, bad, service. If you've been to Thailand or spent time in any Asian prison then you'll appreciate been served cold rice straight from the bucket. Another case of the menu writer and the chef being two completely different people. The beer was nice and cold. Dinner out is very expensive when you have to go somewhere else afterwards to eat.
