Consistently great Indian takeaways. Always good flavour, meat is tender and not fatty or grissly. Amazing cheese naans also!!

Start with the awesome food. The curries here are seriously amazing and I am always impressed when I get food from here. The cheesy naan is my favourite addition to the curry. I've never been disappointed with the food! The restaurant itself could do with a bit of mood music (we went in at lunchtime - perhaps the dinner shift is different?) and the service was so-so; not bad at all just an 'as-you-like-it' vibe. But everyone was friendly so no major complaints. Such a yum restaurant guys!

Food is amazing, service was swift and friendly, and the restaurant was clean and modern in appearance. We went for my daughter's birthday and at the end of the meal was surprised with a free dessert, complete with candle! Would highly recommend Shahi for both dinner and take away, a very pleasant and pleasing evening, we will most definitely eat here again. A big thumbs up all round.

When I think of Indian cuisine in New Zealand, often "cheap, greasy and not so authentic" comes to mind. Shahi is different. Shahi offers amazing service with authentic Indian items on the menu. Every penny is worth the relatively more pricey meal, especially since the portion is perfect. Thanks to Lex for introducing me to this place if he ever sees this review.

A local and a favourite - now updated with a new look. Shahi are at the top end of Indian restaurants for quality. Very consistent. The room is rather tight so best for smaller groups, and they do a massive takeaway trade as well. Butter chicken has to be one of their best dishes.

We came in for a quiet meal and the service was fantastic. Our waitress Lucy was excellent and seemed very knowledgeable and enthusiastic which is rare these days. I had a samosa to start and Tikka Masala as the main which may be very predictable but their Tikka Masala is fantastic. 5 stars for the food and if we could give more for the service from Lucy we would.

These are great curries! Rice was perfect. Lovely naan breads.
Great friendly service. Reasonable prices.
We have been twice, & enjoyed it. BYO wine.
Nice ambience - music & classy interiors.
Not your average indian cafe.
The classic dishes + some a bit different.
A must try.

We ordered a chicken biryani, punjabi lamb tikka and shahi cigars. I can only review these things as that's what we ordered and it was a bad experience. The cigars were dry. The biryani was dry and without any flavour except it being hot. The punjabi lamb tikka was meant to be a dry entree however it just looked like they had picked the lamp pieces off a curry. Awful food.
This is my local Indian eatery located at the busy corner of Upland and Remuera Rd. Love their Tandoori Chicken and this is what I always order when I visit Shahi. The staff have always been friendly and they now also do home delivery which is really convenient on a rainy day :-)

The food and customer service is exceptional. Yes their prices are a little higher than others but they are so much better. The new owner has been well trained by previous long-term owner and the food is the best Indian around. Delicious spices and authentic. We like spicy and the way they do the Butter Chicken and Lamb Korma is perfect. Highly recommend their breads too, both traditional naan and the spicy chilli and cheese naan. Their delivery service is very polite too.

Not bad food, not a bad atmosphere. We enjoyed our time but the food wasn't anything to write home about. Felt a little confused by the euro-indian feel - didn't feel quite indian but didn't feel quite like fusion either.

The curry was perfect and the customer service was exceptional. The only thing that I think they could improve on would be the price. But apart from that the experience was idyllic.
The Sheikh of Auckland
Instagram: sheikh.of.auckland

My favourite Indian takeaway- highly recommend the mango chicken, butter chicken, paneer. All devine. Good gluten free options too.

We have also dined in and the service was fantastic.

I hate being short changed ( I'll avoid saying ripped off ). I ordered two servings of popadoms. I paid $3. I received 2 popadoms. The food here is good. The value is absolutely terrible. Two curries two naan and what was supposed to be two servings of popadoms $56 dollars! Avoid. Spend your money elsewhere.

Have been here a few times now and have always had an amazing experience. Very friendly staff and the food has always been great. I have tried something new each time and have definitely not been disappointed. Much better than other Indian restaurants.

Got a butter chicken for dinner takeaway, VERY small portion and still expensive for a small portion. The size was the same if not smaller, than one of those lunch deals that Indian places do in the split containers.
The taste of the butter chicken was average, didn't taste like a traditional Indian butter chicken dish. Rice was watery too.

Got takeaway in a hurry. Quick to get our meal. In and out within 15 minutes. May have prepared earlier and just heat it up. Portion size OK. Friendly staff.

Got a takeaway and the portion size was too small. Too overpriced, very very poor quality.
We ordered palak paneer.. how can you get Palak paneer wrong. Tasteless, bland and to top it up paneer was too chewy.
Would not recommend to anyone

Samosas + Lamb Korma + Garlic Nan. Very nice! Can anyone tell me how to make samosa? So delicious >3! SHAHI is the best Indian restaurant I've been in Auckland (so far) haha. I just wanna show your the photos ! Look good, taste good~ must try!

We had dinner at Shahi last night and loved it! We don't usually choose Indian as it can be quite heavy, but Shahi's food was much lighter and full of flavour! My partners Chicken Jalfrezi was the stand out dish - YUM! Our waiter was great too - kept our water topped up and food came out quickly. We will definitely be back for dinner and take aways!

Shahi would be the Best Indian food I have experienced... I call in my order and I do take out due to convenience and best of all they deliver AAA+++++.
Anita
We dined in on a friday night once.
It was busy and very very overcrowded, tables were jammed and almost felt like I am in a fish and chips takeaway shop.
A big problem with ventilation therefore gets very stuffy... staff even have to keep the doors open.
Service average and not very professional.
Food, however is very nice. My expectations of indian curry have hit the cieling and foodcourt would not do it anylonger.

I don't normally like Indian Food, but I was pleasantly surprised by Shahi. The portions were just right, the food was very filling, tasted really fresh and flavoursome. The place filled up really quickly and the waitresses were efficient at bringing out food - we didn't feel like we had to wait long at all. Would definitely go back there - the menu looks amazing, pointing out dairy-free, gluten-free and 'health tick approved' meals as well as vegetarian and 'half-sizes'. Delicious!

Food was ok but it was overpriced and the portions were very small. Also rice is an additional cost and is not included.

Had food from Shahi, Remuera.
It was out of the world and the service was impeccable. My first time there and I will be going back for the outstanding foo0d.
Lucy Hardie
We got take aways. It was very expensive, and the portions were small. They heated up our meals in the microwave when we went to collect them so it didn't seem very fresh.
